Hi everyone!! I wanted to tell you a little story as i have already seen a couple posts from people wanting to lose huge, unhealthy amounts of weight in short time periods, and a couple from people who were upset with a 1 or 2 pound loss.
PLEASE remember 1-2 pounds a week lost is HEALTHY and will stay off much better than weight lost quickly!! Here is a story for you:
One of my old Diet Workshop leaders came out one night with a rope tied around her waist. Tied to that rope were sticks of butter. A HUGE amount of butter. 20 sticks.
She says...who knows how much butter i have? We all guessed about 20 pounds. It was only 5!!! 20 sticks of butter. But it looked like a big amount!! She pointed to me said HOLLY..how much did you lose this week? I said 2 1/2 pounds. SHE says and you COMPLAINED about it right? Because you worked so hard? I said yes..she takes 10 sticks of butter off her "skirt" and piles them up. She says there..thats 2.5 pounds. Where would you like it?? On your belly? arms? under your chin?
She points to another lady in the room..IRENE?? Hhow much did YOU lose? Irene says..a quarter pound. The instructor holds up a stick of butter. Says-- this is a quarter pound of fat. Might i interest you in sticking it to your thighs?
We all learned alot that night back in 1973. I was a young teenager. I learned that ANY loss is a great loss!!! When i forget it? I take out a stick of butter and ponder it...and I have NEVER forgotten that lesson..and I hope you wont, either!!
