good for you! when I weigh in tomorrow, I'll post the progress here. I didn't buy a scale on purpose so that I would HAVE to go to the gym at least once a week to weigh in. Most of the time I'm pretty good about going at least 2-3 times a week, but there have been a couple weeks that I'm glad I set myself up this way because it was the only day I made it to the gym. I weigh in on Wednesdays...

YAY! Another voice out here! Good stuff......

Weighed in today - lost 3 pounds. I'm happy with that. I'm working to lose my weight with a goal date of October 1, so it gives me an average of 2 pounds-ish a week. So, I'm ahead of my average :-)

I'm here...I'm just getting started so this is all a bit new. I know I "started" a year and a half ago, but I doddled and didn't really get with it until about a month ago. It took me that year+ to lose 7 pounds without sparkpeople and I have lost 20 pounds in one month since I buckled down and started USING sparkpeople...I'll work at checking this posts more often too...

congratulations. I am down 68 lb from July 2011 And 93 lb. from my high weight. It has been a lot of work but so worth it. I am about half way to goal. Best of luck on your journey to goal.

It's crazy that it's been almost a year! I'm happy to say I'm down 69lbs from the start of SparkPeople and 97lbs all together from April 2010. That's so crazy! But still exciting everyday and the changes that have happened in my life are pretty remarkable. I hope you are all doing the same. I'm sure some people have veered off the path we are all on and I hope that they all find the strength and courage to do it all again!!

Happy Thursday! Thank you for being here. Spark is a great program for me and my husband. I'm just getting around to doing the Fast Break plan where you set three goals for a week. Mine are to drink eight cups of water a day, track my fitness, and write on message boards. emoticon

Hi everyone,

Thank goodness we are still here and losing. I have stayed away from this team for a while as I have embarked on the BLC15 challenge. It is Brilliant and would encourage everyone to enlist in a similar challenge if they see it advertised. It is on a first come first served basis and numbers are limited for each challenge. It has really helped me to focus on the plan from 05.01.11 which meant that my New Years resolutions have been kept on track.

Hope to see some familiar names begin to appear here....Julie how are you doing? Becky I know I owe you an email. Sorry.......will do by Sunday 6th.

I'm happy to see this chat started up. I was wondering what happened to all the people who joined the same week as myself. My name is Pearl and I live in NY. I've been very involved with SP and taking part in challenges on spark. I'm a co-captain of a team. I've lost 30 lbs since I joined back at the end of July. I'm sort of at a plateau now but I'm determined to lose at least another 15-20 lbs.

I've been to WW and back and forth but when I joined spark, I decided to try calorie counting and it's been a real miracle for me. Never in a million years did I ever think I would count calories. I've been tracking my food since day 1 on spark.

So, I'd love to hear what everyone else is up to

Well it snowed in my neck of the woods, here in Minneapolis over the weekend, but that didn't stop me from doing my walk around the lake on Saturday (although It was snowing and windy, I still persevered). I gained two pounds this week, so my Holiday Hold-off is now 12 pounds to lose :-( It's okay, though. I gained b/c I didn't follow program - plain and simple. I'm struggling with the exercise part b/c my routine has been thrown out b/c of the change of weather. I can't afford a gym membership, so now I'm trying to get a little more creative with my exercise. Good thing I work at the library...I have access to a TON of free workout videos :-)

Read my post below re: Holiday Hold-off.

Overall plan = lose 10 pounds between November 1 and January 4. That way there is no pressure for huge numbers, we can relax and enjoy the holidays and still keep on our track of losing weight. Hopefully we'll all lose more and be pleasantly surprised :-)

GOOD MORNING TEAM!!!!

Happy 1st day of November! We're officially entering the best, yet hardest, time of the year! The food that will tempt us is going to be INSANE! Let's keep our eye on the prize, keep our head in the game, and keep moving towards our goals :-)

Our wellness program at work starts a new program today called "Holiday Hold-Off." We weigh in today and then we weigh in again on Jan. 4. I've never participated before, but this a.m. I went over and stepped on the scale. The goal is to remain within 2 pounds of today's weight. I'm going to blow those women away when I step on the scale on 1/4/11 and have lost weight.......my goal = 10 pounds gone by then. It's attainable, it's slower than my proven pace, and it will make me super happy to achieve that over the holidays!

TEAM - WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS OVER THE NEXT TWO MONTHS?!?!?!?

Couldn't do this without all of you!

Friday again already! Where does the week go? I have not weighed myself yet this week, but will be surprised if I have lost anything. I made the BIG mistake of taking my eye off the ball last weekend at my sister's wedding and did not get back into my usual routine very quickly. The holidays!!!! Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas :-) It's my favorite time of the year!!!!!!! It's been a yuck week - I'm off, not super motivated (which is surprising given the fact that I had such a great week last week.) I just need to find myself back in my workout routine. Take back my time.

Hi all!
I have been busy getting ready for a Quilt Retreat long weekend. The facility has a cafeteria with lots of choice. I usually pick all healthy foods but twice as many as I have at home. This time I am going to manage my choices better and stay awake from the snacks in sewing room and at the party!! Wish me luck!

Hello everybody, everything is going well on my part. Except for not doing my walk because the last two days here in the Twin Cities it has been raining and extremely windy, but i do a lot of walking at my job. I'm doing well and i had a nice weekend with my sweetie. This weekend its all about me and my son. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!!

Hi Everyone,
Where has October gone? People say that as you get older time seems to pass more quickly. On that basis I must be much older than I thought!
I had a FANTASTIC weekend at my sister's wedding. She was so very happy and I truly feel she has found her soul mate.
(The wedding photos did remind me that I seriously need to lose weight, - so it has recharged my determination).

Julie - You talk about holidays???? Please enlighten this Brit' - We have Halloween looming here and Guy Fawkes night, but nothing I could call a holiday!)

Hi Team!

What a fantastic day it is in weight loss land! I hit the 30 pound mark today!!!! So happy! Joy - you asked the question of what kind of look forward events do we have? I'm looking forward to spending a healthy life with my daughters :-) But short term, I'm looking forward to the holidays b/c I want to buy myself a sexy new holiday party outfit :-)

Hope everyone is still moving forward with their plan and enjoying it every step of the way!!!

I noticed that I burn more calories at work then I do when I walk 3 miles around Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. Is that normal? It's a bit discouraging to me, but I still did my walk today. If anyone have the answer please let me know, thanks.

Nothing special to look forward to, but i had a wonderful weekend. I was so blessed that I got a car. It's a hooptie but its a runner that'll get me from point A to point B. I had my son this past weekend and spent some quality time with my boyfriend yesterday. I'm so looking forward to having this Friday off, yay!

Good morning everyone.

It is a beautiful autumn day here. Wall to wall blue skies and a fresh, crispness to the air.
I had my first comment from a work colleague who asked if I was losing weight. How I have been longing for someone to notice! I could have kissed her.

Funny how one comment can double my determination.
Have a good week everyone. I have my sister's wedding next Saturday to look forward to. Has anyone else got a 'looking forward to event?'

What a grey autumn day it is. Still it is not raining! I am still having thoughts about this new species that I have been told about.....Corn Dogs. I think I shall have to give them a go.
I hope everyone has a good weekend. I am going to be painting my sons' bedroom! Yes he will 'help' but the bulk of it will be down to me. Still, think of the work out I shall be having and the impromptu highlights in my hair.

I shall let you know how I get on on Monday.

Well I did enjoy myself at the movies last night. I saw the screening of Conviction starring Hilary Swank. It's a very good movie and people who likes docudrama movies should go see it. It officially comes out next Friday.

By the end of the day I'll know how many steps I stepped and how many calories I burned after my walk around lake Calhoun this evening.

I like using a pedometer. I just need to get out walking more. Right now I am helping DH to get the garden ready for winter. A different kind of exercise.

@ LINDA2BLITTLE I don't think I would make it pass 5 minutes myself, but I know I can feel the burn in my thighs. Which means it's working, emoticon !

I bought my first pedometer last night and it also counts the calories I've burned as well. Now, that's what I call an good investment, for now. I'll now how many steps I took, the calories I burned and the miles I walked as well. Kudos to me, emoticon !!!!

Mmm, Corn dogs. I love them. I only eat them once a year when I go to the fair!
I have started helping DH in the garden so it is a different kind of exercise. Knee is still complaining so I go gently.

emoticon The stairstepper is a great way to rid those inches. I have a heck of a time getting past 5 minutes. But once you do, it's amazing!
emoticon Back away from the scale... lol
Try using a measuring tape. It's more exciting to see inches gone than pounds.
Remember = muscle weighs more than fat... emoticon emoticon

I will try the stair stepper st the YMCA. Now, that would be new for me because I've never tried it. I guess it is true what people say about it, it tones your thighs and glutes. Something I look forward to emoticon

Happy Monday, Team!!!! It's ANOTHER beautiful Fall day in West Michigan...just wish I was outside enjoying it instead of sitting at my desk :-(

Here's a question/challenge to add to our 8 pound challenge....what new exercise will you be trying this month? I've been trying to think outside the box of my normal routine of walking. I'm thinking of trying water aerobics (I've never done it, so that will be my new) and going back to kickboxing (this is an awesome workout that I love to do, just stopped going.) My challenge to help our 8 pound challenge - FIND A NEW WAY TO SWEAT THIS MONTH!!!!

Oh Linda your corn dogs win hands down. I have never heard of doing corn that way. It sounds yummy. We tend to just boil the corn cob and then slather butter on to it so as it drips down your chin as you eat.
Shanqeion I think you are right to restrict the weigh-ins. I get very despondent if I feel I have had a good week and it is not reflected on the scales. - Sounds like some new smaller clothes may be in order though.
Everyone have a good week and I do hope that you are enjoying autumn / fall. I love this time of year.
