God job Anne- wish I had that ambition to clean. If I could I would hire someone to clean for me.

Thankful for:
1) beautiful sounds of the birds to wake me up
2)nice weather to get outside (dodging rain spurts)
3) my garden growing. each day when I look at it, there is a sense of pride when I see how good some of it is growing. just have to learn to follow directions and not plant so many seeds

3 things I am grateful for:

1 - Receiving a spark goodie...thanks DeNell, I appreciate you thinking of me

2- Getting my Dress Barn payment in on time

3 - Getting off to a good start with cleaning up my home...school papers and books and mostly thrown out. Leaving my kitchen, dinner room and living easier to clean. I tackled a big part of my kitchen today after throwing out a trash bag full of papers, and workbooks. Phew!

Anne, I see that you saw the picture I uploaded. Even with a little rain it was good.

My garden is growing however I think my spinach was planted too thick as it looks like it is dying. Broccoli is also planted to thick but I did try and transfer some of those to other pots so hopefully I will still get some.zucchini, cucumbers and lettuce are hanging in there- keep your fingers crossed.
Still keeping fingers crossed for you also Anne on the interview.

Thankful for:
1 )opportunity to volunteer with Ruby's Pantry that is going to start coming to town.
2) thankful no one has been around to see my house that has been neglected lately
3) thankful that I made it thru work yesterday for as tired as I was

well today is Friday which means that I am done with work at 10:30- I am liking these short Fridays! Then it is off as we have the bike ride in the morning, haven't been on a bike yet this summer so the 18 mile ride could be interesting. My son is still planning on joining us, which really makes me happy. I am sure I will have some pictures when I get back. The Sat evening the family will be together to celebrate my parents anniversary (today) and Father's Day (Sun).
should be a good weekend- as long as the rain holds off

Well, if you checked out team digest..you will see I drop down a tad. Monday, my daughter had her chorus/dance concert, so I knew I should not workout so I would have time to get home after work and make dinner then help her get ready and get there on time. Tuesday, epic fail on my part, I simple forgot to pack my gym bag. Wednesday workout like a maniac. Then I planned to do the same on Thursday and Friday. Then all HECK broke loose Wednesday evening.

My son hurt his knee at soccer game on Saturday before Wednesday. He was in pain but it was tolerable. We looked at it and ask if him about it...he said it hurt but he could handle it. We thought okay a sprain. Sunday knee seem better, then Monday he is in pain again, I wanted to take him to doctors, hubby said not necessary, Tuesday came more knee pain, really pushed to take Logan to docs...hubby says he will be fine (a bit more but this is the jest of it) I substitute at the Middle School my son attends...I see him limping but again hubby says he is fun and Logan confers with him...I am okay mom. Wednesday comes I see my son in hallways limping and folded over like the 'hunchback of Northe Dame". "LOGAN ARE YOU OKAY?'. I am okay mom. I head for the gym after work but can't get my Logan off my mind. Hmm, maybe the Acetaminophen is not good enough like I thought, I pick up some advil and maybe a knee brace while the sprain heels. This what I tell my hubby when I call after workout. Then I tell hubby please ice Logan knee, when I come home I will heat it give him advil and I am buying a knee brace too.
Well, I get home Logan is on couch with his knee on ice. I ask how he feels and he feels ok
I give him the advil show him the knee brace and tell him I will get heating pad now. All that is done. As I ask him if he wants something like tea. He is fine...I don't like how he looks. I ask if I could lift his sweatpants to take a look at knee. (imagine for all weeks this past week was cold so my kids were wearing pants instead of shorts). I lift pants and I see a knee the size of a grapefruit yellow in color with brownish bruising! Oh my Lord! Now I snapped. I no longer ask to take my son to doctor I scream yell and demand my hubby to take him NOW. First emergent care...nurse take xrays and temperature..blah blah blah..Michael says..she asks Logan questions and nurse falls for Logan's charms...my children are well mannered, respectful, wonderful with words, so explanation is thorow and enjoyable. Nurse turns to hubby...your son is a great smart kid. 20 minutes later she shaking and ask Michael strongly to bring to hospital, she does not like what she sees.
*(Michael keeps me updated...I am a quiver cry baby mess..I did not hold it together at all)

Michael rushes Logan to hospital. After quite sometime they see Logan, take blood and the samples of fluid from his knee. The doctor comes back and tells Michael " I don't like what I am seeing. However, we are not equip for what it might be because we do not have a pediatric unit." Doc tells Michael "Logan must be rushed to the Hospital that has pediatric unit care." Next...Michael informs me further( I probably don't need to tell both of you that I somehow lost it even more! I snap with every emotion all at once.) Logan is taking by Ambulance while my husband is riding behind. (here is when my hubby tells me last night...that as he rode behind ambulance he started crying, in fact he was crying when he told me the story. Of course the children were in another room) They finally get to hospital, more test, and it seems to never end. No doc likes what they are seeing 3 am I get a text they have to stay the night. Docs want more telling and confer with other docs. Michael calls in work stays with Logan. I go to work and ready Sylvia..No word...just a theory it could be Lyme. I am a mess...NO not lyme. But then later find out it may also be a serious infectious disease. WTH!!!! Now we hope it is lyme but at the curable stage. OMG! what is happening????!?!?!? No new news on Thursday. Thank goodness I have work and must take care of Sylvia. Thursday night comes Michael tells me "docs needs Logan to stay another day, meanwhile blasting him with IV antibiotics since admitted on Wednesday night. Michael insist he should stay overnight with him and I should go to work. He flat out tells me I am too emotional and will unintentionally upset Logan. I am not sure if I could hold it together so I give in, stay with Sylvia then go to work on Friday. I am in class I check cell when I can around 10am I get word. Logan test positive for Lyme. OMG!
They might have released him Friday night but Logan was complaining about his hip now. Docs and nurses are concern because (just like at emergent care and the first hospital) they come to know Logan as a well mannered, sweet kid, & like him a lot they already realize he does not complain. Red flags go up so they order a ultrasound for his hip. Hours later they find more fluid. They choose to keep him another day. Again Michael say come and visit but do not plan to stay...better he does he believes. At this point I give up because I am a mess so simple agree. Like Thursday, Logan looks exhausted but smiling, joking and telling stories that is how my children are. So the second visit on Friday was real good for me. Except for my first born baby not coming home. Well, the good news is Logan was finally released on Saturday evening and was home by 8:30pm. He wanted to sleep in our bed and Sylvia missed her daddy so much she wanted to sleep with him. But four of us in a Queen size bed can't happen so...daddy and Sylvia to in the guess room. And my baby boy (who is 12yo) is snuggled next to me. I am so happy that we cuddled all night long and to see his peaceful face next to me has me crying again but this time with tears of joy and happiness! I love my life and family.

3 things I am grateful for:

1- the nurse that knew enough to send Logan to hospital,
2- the nurses and doctors at both hospitals
3- my good natured son beside me, my wonderful husband in the next room and my lovable daughter

Long, cold tiring day at our community rummage sale. I only made $4.50 but I didn't have a lot of stuff to sell. We will do it again tomorrow and I bet I sleep like a rock tonight.

Grateful for......
1. Finally getting warm after coming in for the evening
2. 4.50 is more money than I had this morning
3. A good chance to spend time with my neighbors to get to know them better

Now to relax.........

it was a long day yesterday but my son has everything he needs at his new place (for the next year). It was a nice house they are renting.
Tried to work this morning however the one application that I need still is not working- it went down Thurs afternoon- work has been slow going since.
Some days its hard to think of what I am thankful for
1) good nights sleep
2) my morning coffee
3) phone conversation with friend's widow- long talks kills time for both of us

Thanks everyone- mom is now home.

Vic, I am the same way, always hungry. It's like no matter what I eat, I just can't get enough.

Hopefully our rain will be done today (I don't have a pool to fill), it's a little brighter outside this morning.

3 things I am grateful for:
1) mom getting out of the hospital
2) my son who is always wonderful about calling just to chat
3)everything I planted (food wise- some flowers are not) is growing- yeah! I have spinach, lettuce, broccoli, cucumbers and zucchini all coming up

congrats on the loss Anne. Sounds like you have been busy and another work of week- emoticon

Vic, I so understand about the cleaning. My house has been neglected lately. The way things are going- it is going to be neglected awhile longer.

Mom ended up in the hosp this weekend. Her feet have been swollen and painful so dad brought her in. Low magnesium and potassium. She was only to be in a few hours while they gave her IV's however she couldn't take them in fast enough so it was over night stay. Then when they checked the potassium didn't come up enough so it was another night in the hosp. She finally got out Mon afternoon.

DeNell I am sorry to hear the news about your mom. She sounds like a strong person. I hope all will work out.

Well, I saw DeNell got 50 points for the team...well read this...I pressed and finally got 10 points for the team (usually a 1 or 2) then I click another team...20 points then another team 50 then another team 50 again! OMG! Why can't I get those points for our team...it is so aggravating.

3 Things I am grateful for:

1 - A lovely Sunday with friends. We had our friends and their children over for dinner.

2 - I was giving the opportunity to work another full week. As I mention last week was added on and now another week! So, 5/22 was supposed to the last then 5/29 and now 6/5!

3 - I lost an additional 1lb when I step on scale this morning. Even after having drinks, dessert and now workouts since Thursday!!!

I need to step up my game...I been doing better (very slowly) and finally results...just a little but it gives me hope.

well mom had her oncology visit, she now has to decide on whether or not she wants to have further treatment. since they found the 2nd cancerous polyp, and categorized it as stage 3, continuing with drug follow-up treatment is optional. Doctor can not say whether or not further treatment will or will not help at this point. I get the feeling mom isn't telling me everything, as she made the comment that she would like to spend the weekend with us kids, and she just seemed more emotional than I expected.
Looks like I will be headed to my brothers and sisters for the weekend to be surrounded by family. So glad I am at a better place with them, so spending time with them is not as stressful as it used to be.
Hope everyone has a wonderful (and dry) weekend.

So glad that you liked them.

For thinking I was doing ok on my eating- I tracked a couple days to see where I am calorie wise. I have been hovering around the 1500 mark. More than the 1200 I was aiming for, so I am trying to watch it and get my calories in line.

I have a tough time trying to remember to be thankful.
1) It was very nice yesterday, I was able to get in a couple short walks and mow the lawn
2) for my dogs- they keep me company and get me outside walking.
3) for sister and brother-in-law for all they do for my boys. I am so glad my boys have them near when they need.

Oh DeNell I did slip! Well, putting 3 things down in here. I think seeing in writing is helpful!

Here it goes!

1- Grateful for having another full week of work. (since Friday was supposed to be the last day at this position...life of a sub)

2- Several co-workers that help with advice on becoming a permanent TA. (wish me luck and say a prayer)

3- My neighbors (both across the street and next door) who help me by watching my daughter until her school bus comes to pick her up.

Oh and a big Thank you for DeNell for the team goodies! It put a smile on my face! emoticon

You guys are good

3 things:
1) It's Friday and a long weekend
2) #2 son called yesterday, and no troubles with the truck (day before it wouldn't start)- saved some money by not having to take it to the shop
3) phone call with a friend last night, and she actually talked and didnt make me feel like I was imposing by calling.

It helps to know that the things that make you depressed are things that depress others slso. So that makes me feel more normal!
I went into menopause very early, starting at 39, so I am way past the hard parts. So now just trying to keep the weight off and lose the extra 15.
My three positive things right now would be..........

1. My daughter who moved in nextdoor. This morning she heped me rearrange all my kitchen appliances. She has a house full of boys right now, her 2 plus their friends, but still took the time tocome and help me.
2. It is finally going to be nice weather and summer is on it's way.
3. Sparkpeople, of course, and this team.
Off to work outside now.....daughter and boys are going to haul some dirt in for me to plant my flowers today.
Enjoy your day!

Thanks for the well wishes and the prayers.

I am not sure, but when it comes to me I don't believe it is age or menopause. I only been in menopause for less then two years and when it comes to my age I only started feeling this old when I gained weight and practically stop exercising for about 8 months. I had on and off depression for about a decade. Sure at times it hit me harder like when my brother passed away and the long miserable winters are real tough on me too. But either of those things has to do with age or menopause. It is most likely my constant stress, anxiety and always am nervous about finances (like most people/families)

Okay enough whining....let's think of 3 positive things in our lives (per DeNell)

1) I have you two on my team for support
2) My co-worker who keeps buying clothes that are too small for her and give them to me!
3) My cousins through marriage that make my children's b-day more special.

Now its your turn!!

Good luck with the jobs, Anne. When would you hear something?

Guess we are all in the same boat with depression, glad I am not alone. Do you think our age has anything to do with it? Menopause? Sun does help but still doesn't seem to be enough for me. I believe my puppy has helped some- would hate to see what I would be like without her. Some days get tough. I listened to a speaker awhile back and am trying to practice the grateful thoughts that she suggested. Every night I am to think of 3 things that I am grateful for. My problem is I forget to think of it, but when I remember, I do. Some days I even have a hard time finding something I am grateful for.

I will pray! It's the best thing for anyone to do! I understand about the depression, Anne. I go that route every winter but no clue as to why. It takes good sunny warm days to bring me out of it and living where we do, the dark cold days far outnumber the warm sunny ones. Enjoy the good days and hoping for good news about the jobs. emoticon

Thanks for the vote of Confidence Vic!

Way to go...DeNell with walking in the rain.

Back to being depressed...I am beginning to think I have a chronic problem. I guess it could just be lousy luck though. Friday is my last day on the job with this assignment. The life of a substitute teacher. I am having a real hard time. There was a postings for a 2 permanent positions starting September. I sent my resume to both. It would be in this district so I truly hope I get one of them.

Wish me luck...and if you believe in prayer like I do....PRAY!!!!

I have also gained half the weight back- but I wont give up trying.

Yesterday we had snow flurries- supposed to be sunny now for awhile so I will get out as much as I can. will have to get out walking as I have been slacking with the crappy weather. My sister and I did walk in the rain the other day- that was not fun. we were pretty wet when we got done- even though I did have an umbrella. so hope that our summer is not a wet one

Yes.....congrats to us all on making 5 years on Spark. I have gained half of the weight I lost back again and my only healthy active time is when the weather is good. When it's cold here it's C O L D,! Not fit for going outside at all. Dark and rainy today so cleaning the house, ha! I'm always cleaning anyway! Have a terrific weekend!

Well, May 2 - 8th our team's anniversary came and went...I can hardly believe we been on this team since 2010. So much has happen during this time. Both positive and negative. Sad to report...the weight I work so hard to lose is all back.

Oh well, I still have my health...which is surprising, I guess all that hard work to lose the weight had other benefits that can't be denied. It keep me heart healthy and mindful of eating good foods. Too bad the junk food started creeping its way back in as well.

As you know I am back to the gym at least 3-4 days (use to be 5-7) and hopefully I will be going for walks as well. My daughter, Sylvia pushes me to play with her in the backyard. Now with the weather being nice I say yes more often...I am a creature of the sun...love sunshine and warmth.

Enjoy the weekend.

Yes, it was cool with little sun here too yesterday but lovely. I don't mind that type of weather, in fact anything but cold and snow! Ugh Today will be as cool as yesterday but with bright sun so it will be delightful!

DeNell...did it wind up snowing yesterday?

My internet has been down since yesterday afternoon. It just happened to come back for a bit so I am doing what I can now. Repairman coming tomorrow afternoon. Yes weekly or bi weekly visits would be fine for me too Anne. A cold cloudy day today so I stayed inside and she didn't visit.

Vic...she does look good. I can see how 3-4 times a day can get annoying. Daily would be more than enough for me...weekly or bi-weekly would be even better.

Sorry to hear of the rain. We had sunshine but today and tomorrow it will be partly sunny (cloudy, but trying to think positive) and cool. However, still lovely not cold just cool, and it does not say rain either.

She looks pretty good for 92. I remember when my grandfather was alive- I would visit him weekly and yes the stories were all the same, their memory does go, but to listen to them enjoy telling them- it was ok.

We now have 2 days of rain, oh how I miss the sunshine!
