Today, I tracked everything I ate and left room for spicy chicken curry. This is a favorite and I apply chunks of pineapple, coconut, raisins, mango, slivered almonds, and sunflower seeds all served over a cup of organic brown rice. Yum..
I took the morning to think about why I was angry with somebody yesterday after I got talked into something without knowing all the consequences that applied. I had no lunch which I use to as my time to walk. The required time commitment is paid at 55 minutes although I found the obligation was for 75 minutes. The final straw was somebody charging me two hours of sick time without any thought of tit for tat...

Hi Everyone. Sorry I've been gone, but I'm back. The past six months were not kind to me. I gained 10 pounds and even though I'm back on track and have eaten clean this past week, I still gained 3 of the ten since last Sunday. It's very frustrating. Work was very intense, busy, and stressful, but I'm off for the summer. Yeah! I'm in bankruptcy, but my court date is July 27 so next month I should start to see financial improvement with a lot less stress. I'm in the process of trying to schedule knee replacement surgery for Thanksgiving holiday. I'm waiting for my referral and have to get x-rays. I'm tired of living with the pain that is getting worse not better regardless of the interventions. My truck engine blew up and is at the mechanics for an engine rebuild.
On the up side, I am still training 3 days a week with my personal trainer. I'm back with my personal yoga coach weekly and bi-weekly over the summer. I'm stretching daily and hope to start doing cardio daily this week. It's hard with my knees hurt so much, but my trainer and I have been working on cardio I can do on the ball to slowly work up to it.
I'm determined to loose the 10 pounds I gained and I know I can do it. This summer I'm going to visit my family in Texas for two weeks in August and my cousin in Colorado for a week in September. Both are paying my way. Do I have a great family or what!!!!!
I'm back on active duty with my Search and Rescue team although it is limited duty until I have my surgery, but it feels good to be back. I taught a Wilderness and Remote First Aid class in April that went great. It feels too to be active in Boy Scouts and Red Cross again also.
Well that pretty much brings you up to date on my life. It is great to be back!

I forgot to add in my goal achieving action: I climbed my stairs this morning 10x. May not be much for some, but it put my heart rate at 92%! Last month on my birthday we climbed Diamond Head. I was proud of myself for making it and not giving up. I was soooo sore the next few days, but I set a goal to climb it once a month. Next time is 3/24.

I saws the neuro-surgeon Thursday. He said I have degeneration of a vertebra and narrowing of a disc. He said he could do a fusion surgery to eliminate the pain, but that since I seemed to be getting better with exercise I could continue with that approach until the pain become so severe it interferes with my lifestyle. I his going to include in his report a recommendation for cortisone injections in case I need them in the future so my primary physician can order them if I decide I want them.
So for now it's more yoga, cardio, and weight training. I'm also going to start using my inversion table regularly to open the disc space. I truly believe I can beat this and my arthritic knees without surgery.

Sounds like fun. I love Polynesian dance, espsecially Tahitian. I can't do it now because of my arthritis, but I used to.
I picked up my report and images yesterday and snuck a peek. Looks like I have two ruptured discs one of which is putting pressure on two nerves. Doesn't look like bad ones. We'll see what the doc says about it next week.

Yesterday was a good day nutritionally and exercise wise. In the a.m. just moved around in our hotel room-mix of indoor walking and practicing a little hula we were taught at a luau. After dinner my husband and I walked around our hotel for about 22 min. Started today out with 30 min of dance.

I finally got an appointment with the neuro surgeon. It's for the 26th. I'll pick up the MRI images on CD and the report next week when I go in for my annual mammo so I'll get to read it and look at the images before I seen the doc. Then I can do some research and know what to ask. I hate going in blind without a clue what is going on. I like to be an active participant and know what my options are for my health care.

I hope you will all mend quickly! Prayers for each of you. I have just been doing the same old thing-nothingto help me lose this weight. A lot of things are on my mind. My 18 yr. old son is out and about all the time, and he worries me. My daughter will be having her first baby. Due date Nov 20th. We are also dealing with changing duty stations. We will be out of our house here by Dec 8th. I will continue working until Dec 17th. So there is a lot to do and I have no energy to get to it. Oh, and I am suppose to be making a quilt for my grand baby. I also need to get myself to the Dr's and dentist. So much to do! and it gets to be a bit overwhelming. It will all get done.

You are in my prayers also. I hope you start making progress healing very soon. I know you want to get back to Zumba, but it's not worth it if it sets back your recovery. You don't want to do permanent damage. Why not just walk for now. Walks are a good way to keep moving without straining. Maybe we could hike the bike path at Silverwood. My knees are getting better. I'm not ready for anything steep yet, like Badden Powell, but the bike path looked fairly level. There is also a nice path around Lake Gregory, but it's a little long for me just now.

IM still hanging in there been Very busy putting up decorations for our annual Halloween party on the 29th this year. I had to start in Sept because Im super slow this year. But we are almost finished just last minute junk.
hope after Halloween I will be feeling better and able to do my zumba but IM not pushing it. Chiro just gave me a look when I asked him if I could do it yet...........LOL and I moved and said OH NO Cant do that yet....LOL he still wants us to go to the Ortho which we are changing Lawyers and I dont know if that is going to delay stuff or not so not sure when we are going to be able to get into the Ortho.
Well keep on fighting the good fight and hope to hear how your MRI went

Yesterday I did an hour of heavy weights with my trainer, 30 minutes of cardio with sprints every 30 seconds with my sister, and a 90 minute yoga flow class at the gym. I stuck to my diet without cheating. Today I am up 1 pound. Go figure. Today I'm going to do 30 minutes of cardio with sprints, 30 minutes of yoga with my video, and if I have time 30 minutes of resistance on my Total Gym. Maybe I'll see some results tomorrow. I'm up 4 pounds from August 1 and I really want to take it off fast.

I keep praying for you. I have similar issues and find my inversion table helps a lot with decompression. I also do exercises for my rotator cuff tear that help. Keep on the PT, you can beat this.

Mom and I are hanging in there our chiro is sending us to an Ortho on the 20th of Oct to get an evaluation of our shoulders chiro is thinking mom might have a small tear in her rotator cuff but needs to send us to ortho to find out and also my left arm has been really bothering me he said that my C4 and C5 where compressing and both mine and my mothers neck were curving the wrong way due to the accident I guess UGH we will be in therapy for awhile I guess :( I just cant wait to zumba again.
I just go day to day I cant give up and I have way too much to do around here we have an annual Halloween Party and I have been decorating the house but very SLOWLY UGH

Hi gang, I lost the 7 pounds I gained between the birthday week and the Boy Scout event and gained a pound of muscle. Hurrah! I'm up a total of 3 pounds of muscle with 9 pounds more to go to reach my ultimate goal of lean. I wish I was doing as well on the fat loss side, but that will happen as my muscle increases.
I've upped my exercise so that will help. I added yoga on Tuesday mornings and silver sneakers on Thursday mornings. I'm really enjoying it. Yesterday I forced myself to do cardio without my sister. That was hard, but I did it. I'm determined to reach the body fat composition I want.

Prayers being said Donna I hope its nothing serious and you can be mended up quickly. The Chiro told my mom and I yesterday he wants us to go see an Ortho also. He thinks mom might have a small tear in her rotator cuff again and me and her both have signs of whiplash in the Xrays UGH :( and he is also working on my back because of the bang up I did on the knee he said its a nerve in the back that is making me do this little dip down dance... when I walk ... its not funny but it is ... LOL all of a sudden Im walking fine and my knee dips down for no reason.....LOL
Well Again I hope you the best and a quick recovery.
I Love this weather but am sad we cant go Kayaking I was actually thinking about that yesterday wondering if we wore a wet suit if we could go but I dont have one of those........LOL maybe next year we can go again and I will be healed up by then for sure.
Snow shoeing sounds fun hopefully I will get an all clear and be able to do that in a few months.

I finally went to the doctor about the pain in my right leg. He thinks it's coming from my back and is sending me for an MRI. I managed until recently, but now it's keeping me away at night and is pretty constant. I hope it isn't anything serious. I appreciate any prayers or positive thoughts you can send my way.
Hope everyone is doing well. Weather has turned cool so I don't think we'll be kayaking again this year unless we get a warm spell. When it snows we can do some snowshoeing. If you hike, you can snow shoe and I have extras for you to use.

School is very hectic. I'm treading water, but it will get better. The first three weeks is always an administrative nightmare. It's worse this year because I have a new responsibility as a program coordinator for a program with which I'm not familiar. That is making it worse. However, this too shall pass (like a kidney stone) and I will persevere and survive.
To manage my stress I'm focusing on my diet and exercise. I'm making progress. I gained 1 pound of muscle this week so I'm finally back up in the 90's. My fat weight and fat % is now in the 30's - woohoo! So I'm a happy camper about that.
I haven't been sleeping well because of leg pain. My doc thinks its coming from my back and is sending me for an MRI. In the meantime, my right leg hurts from my hip to my ankle. The entire leg throbs anytime I'm not moving around. It's always something isn't it.
In spite of everything I'm hopeful, happy, and generally feeling great! Thanks for asking about me.

Carrie-Instead of focusing on not being able to exercise as you would like to, use this time to focus on your food. This way you are still working towards your goals!

Today is Day 4 of my exercise streak:30 min on treadmill, 24 min mile. It is even my day off work and I made myself get up. Even yesterday morning I wasn't feeling well but again I got up to do my workout before work. PROGRESS!

I think IM going to try and walk slow on my treadmill today I know the doc told me not to do too much but walking on the treadmill shouldnt hurt you would think it would HELP me move a little better as long as I dont over do it.

Yeah mom and I went to the urgent care the night that the accident happened they took all kinds of X rays and everything nothing was broken or fractured . the chiro said that everything gets out of wack when you get into an accident and its amazing what you didnt know you had.......LOL

Good Job Kathy
I have been having some major stopping on everything due to the accident my back has been having spasms and my left arm has been acting crazy. Mom and I are seeing a Chiro he said I should be back to doing some excersicing in a month at least slow then maybe in 3 months back to zumba I HOPE I am soooo missing my Zumba classes :(

Wow you guys this has been some kind of week.
Yesterday mom and I were driving heading home from shopping and as we were driving through Main and Mariposa a lady ran a red light and hit my mom and I we are ok a lot sore but we are still here so that is such a thankful blessing and I am so thankful to GOD that I wasnt going any faster or she would of taken out my moms side door with my mom so scary to think about.
This accident involved 3 other cars this lady that ran the red light HIT omg it was crazy poor moms van is totalled :( but a van can be replaced Mom cant

It's back to work for me tomorrow. Yesterday was a wash because we celebrated Paul's mother's birthday. I did good until they ordered the mile high cake for us to share. Alas! I've gained 4 pounds this week and tomorrow breakfast, lunch, and dinner is being served by the university and I won't have time to exercise in the morning.. I know breakfast is coffee and pastries, but the rest of the day is a duck shoot.
That's why they call it a lifestyle! I'll eat clean today and try to get in some cardio. Then I guess Tuesday I will have to hit it with a vengeance.

Once I started taking my medicine again I started to feel better. My GERD is almost gone now. I only feel minor discomfort if I eat large quantities. I think it will be find by the time I have to go back to work Monday. Thankfully. I appreciate you asking, Carrie. I hope everything is back to normal for you soon.

I havent been posting lately I have had a very sick dog and he is like a baby to my DH and I hoping I can get things back to normal by next week. He is starting to seem to be feeling better thank GOD.. we found out he has an upper resp infection poor guy but we thought it was much worse the way he was acting Thank GOD for many prayers he is on the mend

Thank you, Carrie. I appreciate your concern, but I'm sure it's nothing serious. I don't know when I'll be able to go kayaking again now that I'm gearing up for the fall quarter. If I get a gree day I'll let you know. This week I have to prep for class and attend another 2-day ICS class for Search and Rescue. Next week I have to finish prepping and go to Sacramento for two days to the CTC. School starts the 19th. Maybe we can squeeze in one more day on a weekend.

Kathy the only advice I can give you about the sweating because I am the same way and It sucks drives me crazy, I just take a towel after I have already dried off and just keep patting myself dry. I also keep it in my mind that Sweating is GOOD even though we hate it, it means we are reving up our body to burn those clories. I think also you have to find something FUN you Truely love doing. I honestly didnt think I would like Zumba my sister in law was doing it and I thought HOW DUMB I dont want to do that.......LOL but then I saw results from her she lost a lot of weight. SO I said OK I think Im just making excuses on the issue because I didnt want to I guess "COPY" Her.......LOL that was some issues I had to work out in my own head. I finally said you know what I will never know until I try it and so I found the local gym here did it and I tried it OMG It was super hard and I still go left when they go Right and have found I have two left feet......LOL but I thought you know what as long as I'm Moving that is the most important step, and now I am loving going I cant wait till monday so I can go do it again :)
You just have to find what you love weather it be Kayaking, Hiking, Running, you just have to do it and nobody is going to do it for us Darn it....LOL

I did do my 15 min this morning. The thing I hate about working out in the morning before I have to get ready for work or whatever else I will be doing is that even after my shower I am sweating! It is so irritating! I have tried earlier this year to get up by 6am so I have a few minutes to cool down before I need to get ready, but it still isn't enough time. I leave for work at 7:50. I guess I will have to get up earlier. I have a membership at Curves, and I haven't been since April. I get off work at 5:30 and on two fridays a month I get off at 6:30pm and it takes me 45 minutes to get home. there are even gyms here on the Fort. I want to lose this weight the right way. My Mom has done all sorts of diets and even had surgery. It is a lifestyle change. All those diets helped her at the time, but didn't teach her how to eat right and that exercise is a lifelong need. I have lost 30lbs in the past. I have the knowledge it takes to win this battle, it is just putting it to WORK. Have a great weekend ladies! Kathy

Thank you, Carrie. I was sad also, but it was the right decision. I am feeling better, although I am still having stomach pains off and on. I see my doctor next week. I don't think it is anything serious. Thank you for asking.
Kathy, WOW! Hawaii! I struggled for years to loose my weight and couldn't get the scale to budge. That's why I finally did the HCG protocol which worked for me, but it is extreme. If you are not doing anything to reach your goal you have some resistance in you that you need to address. Ask yourself these questions:
What is the up side to staying where you are? What is the down side to loosing weight? How does the extra weight serve you?
When you identify why you need to stay where you are you can deal with it and start moving toward where you want to be. For me it was fear. I wanted and needed to loose weight to address the pain in my knees and back, but if I lost the weight and still had the pain I would be out of options except for surgery which I do not want. Once I dealt with that I was able to "get moving" so to speak. I used EFT to address my fears and it's still helping me improve the pain.
You can do it!

Hi 2bfit I have been on sparks since 08 and my meter has barely moved but you know at least it moved some. I fell into a major Slump and I couldnt get out of it either I know what you mean the day is just so busy and by the time you get home you sit down and just dont want to get back up.
Lately I have been just trying to keep myself active making new friends and I joined a Zumba Class at the Gym Here in Oak Hills. Still trying to get my DH to let me join so i dont have to keep paying for each class I have a 5 day pass right now. I am really having fun with it. I just made up my mind that nobody but ME Is going to do it. I dont have much support here at home so its been hard.
if you ever want to go to Zumba with me come on down she has a friday night at 630 I dont know if that is a possiblity for you or not, I believe she does a 7 pm on tuesday I would have to double check.
YOU can do it but it is HARD and we will fall it is how we get back up that counts One step at a time :)

I'm glad the two of you are doing so well!
I am tired and so NOT motivated. It is a crazy thing because I WANT so much to lose this weight, but I am not doing anything to reach that goal. I am not a morning person and I don't get home till 6:30 pm and dinner is ready and I'm tired. What will it take for me to get myself in gear. I have longed to have a lean and healthy body for as long as I can remember!!!! It is so depressing!!!! In January we are moving to Hawaii and I WANT to be an active person. I WANT to go hiking, biking snorkling etc, but NOT in this body. I know, I am having a pity party. Forgive me.

Wow Donna you are one busy bee
Today I did my Elliptical for 45 mins WOOT even after being out all day shopping Halloween is coming around the corner and that is my busiest time because we throw a huge halloween party
Yesterday I wasnt on but I did Clean house. I should of wore my HR monitor because IM sure I burnt lots of Calories doing just that

Feeling good again. Today I'm tired because I had to get up at 4:00am. I'm going to a three-day class for Search and Rescue that starts at 8:00. I have an hour drive, but I'm looking forward to it. The class is Incident Command System 300. I did the 100 and 200 on-line. Once I do 300 I can work at the incident command center during callouts. It will be a busy three days. Tonight I have a High Adventure Team meeting for Boy Scouts. So it's fly back up the hill at 5:00, grab Paul and fly right back down the hill for the 7:00 meeting. Whew!
I'm looking forward to our kayaking also. The non-motorized ramp is open again. You'll like it much better for putting in our kayaks.

Donna I just havent been feeling that great and the things I have been eating are not very good and When I eat I agree with you on the starvation mode but I just havent felt well enough to eat. Everytime I do I feel sick to my stomach so Strange and annoying.

If your not eating much you may be in starvation mode which can cause the weight gain. Feel better soon.

Im feeling somewhat better today UGH Im up in my weight and its so annoying :( I really need to get myself back on track. The strange thing is I havent been eating that much this week due to not feeling well so maybe it is water from this horrible cycle Im having.
Im still feeling a little sick to my stomach I sure hope that goes away soon.
