I remember that each year about this time, the YMCA hosts a "Healthy Kids Day." Classes are held that day that include parents AND their kids. I am not sure of the date, but it will probably be on September 29 in recognition of National Family Health and Fitness Day.

The local chain of gyms where I teach is good about having family oriented classes. Just this Saturday, they had a wellness fair at the branch nearest my home. (I was teaching at the dance studio and didn't get to attend, but I'm sure it was good!) They always have free classes and booths for various health issues manned by health professionals.
Don't know there is anything planned for the actual day, Sept. 29.
