When I was a "Snow Bird" traveling to and from Florida when returning to Michigan, the Instructors in Michigan would be so really for vacations that "yes" I would be very busy during summer months.
In Florida, I would mostly teach in the private sector (Condo, Resorts) so work would be sparsely. I got certified in Arthritis classes bcuz a lots of my students in Florida had some form of Arthritis which was great bcuz that's my largest client population.
Yes, I am excited about subbing at this new Health Club, I will keep you posted! Have a good day.
I teach a Deep H20 & an Aerobic II (high impact) Water Aerobic classes on Saturdays and during Memorial Holiday weekend, I was really surprised to see the number of students in class. I just knew that perhaps two patrons should show up for my Deep Water class, but no eight people were in attendance and fifteen in my second class.
I live in Michigan, and during the summer months I pick-up a lots of "Sub" positions, typically this this the time of year Instructors goes on vacation, so I'm really busy. I use to be a "Snow Bird" so when winter comes that's when I take long vacations.
Due to the economy, two indoors pool have closed so lately I've been having a lots of new students attending my classes. I teach two classes (Aerobic II and Arthritis) Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings. I also teach a Monday/Wednesday evening classes. So, during my morning classes there are always people dropping into my classes, especially since my Arthritis classes - enrollment is about 23 people.
I am meeting with an Aquatic Associated next week regarding "Subbing" during the summer at this new Health Center.
I will keep you posted on attendance during my summer class schedule.
I don't really have any tips on keeping them coming. However, I would like to share my experience today, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend! I have a 10 a.m. polefit class (a fitness class at the pole studio). In general, they are less motivated than standard gym exercisers.
I was wondering how many I would have. We have 8 poles and on a average Saturday a.m. class I would have from 4 or 5 to 8. Today, (Memorial Day weekend) I had 10 people. Six were first timers at the studio. They all thought the class was great and plan on returning.
Most of the first timers were regular gym exercisers. They found, like I had when I first started pole, exercises on the pole are more challenging than most gym exercises because with the pole, you are lifting your whole weight.
Anyway, it was a very nice surprise to have so many people on a holiday weekend!
