I usually take out my journal and write. I think about my goals, and what I really want out of life. Then I try to get back on that track. I try really hard not to criticize myself and just start from where I'm at and get going. It's natural to get discouraged, and even frustrated. Allow yourself to do that, and then start from exactly where you are.
One of my favorite quotes that helps me get back on track with my goals is by George Eliot- It's never to late to be what you might have been.
Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them every day begin the task anew.
MY_AGREEMENT, good idea. I'll have to try it. I am too out of steam. I've been sick before christmas. (I have a cough I can't get rid of.) I haven't been able to work out and I gained weight I am going "home" to the doctor I used growing up and he usually is able to help with my cough.
Keep the ideas coming.

Have you done the "visual motivation" exercise that SP recommends? I have done two of them now, and it was a great process. I really thought about my goals and why I was on this journey to begin with, and brought out things that I secretly hoped for but hadn't yet been able to articulate (being and feeling REALLY sexy, being able to go hiking or horseback riding or bicycling, and so on). Of course you have to have the actions to back it up - but it's fun looking for pictures that just exactly match that mental image you're holding, and they really bring it into focus.

Don't know about the rest of you but I'm starting to run out of steam. The last few days have been bad for me and I need to re-focus myself. What do you do for yourself when you need to refresh your motivation??
