How did you do? My last assessment broke me on lap 26.5, but if I hadn't broken, I would have passed - there was plenty of time for me to finish that last lap from the time I fell and when our coach stopped the clock. The key of it for me is to focus on my crossovers and to just keep my feet moving.
I'm hoping once I get back on my skates, it comes back pretty quickly. Also hoping I'm back on my skates soon.
This week, we had an amazing practice on Thurs. I am so excited to be able to sit down today without wincing and crying. We had a guest coach come who is certified to coach ice speed skaters, and he always works us over. The first hour was off skates, working on form, balance, and making our legs turn to jelly. The second hour was on skates, and b/c he had us skulling or 8-on-the-floor, we were doing very small circles- I nearly got dizzy!

Woo! How have you been training for it? 5km is a brilliant distance, Training for it, and feeling that sense of 'I can't believe I just managed this' when I crossed the finish line was all I needed to get addicted.
Have you found that your stamina has increased for skating? I know mine did-I didn't necessarily get faster, but I could go for longer.
I'm impressed by all your runs. I'm doing my first 5k in 2 weeks. I'm a little nervous even though I've been training for it. I'm going to try and do a 5k a month or every 2 months. My goal is to do a half marathon in November and a marathon next year sometime.
