Hi There OWs!

Getting lots of things done today. Laundry is almost done as is packing away Christmas. Tomorrow is our Epiphany celebration at church so I usually wait until then to get Christmas down. It usually takes me a couple of days. I'll be done tomorrow morning most likely with everything and then to clean the dust and pieces of stuff from packing everything back.

I've been working on "being good" this week. I set my goals to start on 1/2 and have been staying mostly within ranges and adjusting as needed as I go along. I am making myself have enough freggies and water. I love both but if I don't focus on getting back into the routine I was not getting it all in. Fiber and protein are a couple of other things that I track and will work on in the coming weeks to get back into their proper levels. I've exercised 4 days this week, which is my minimum. 2 cardio sessions of 20 min each and 3 times did 100 reps (5 exercises, 2reps of 10 each). I’ve journaled everything; food & exercise. That is getting me back into the grove of things. Still have been having my scoop of ice cream after dinner but it's been fitting within my calorie ranges. I'll have to adjust sweets in the near future also to start losing. So, I think I'm ready to get some serious weight back off and off-off.

Cynthia – your puppy is so cute! I know you have fun even taking her to the vet. Great job on journaling. You know your body and know how far you can go with exercise. Nice little challenge between your sis and you!

Chris – girl, I feel your pain! For me, I know I always have to try to not let myself go to the place where I allow myself to disregard my health. It’s so hard though and once I’m gone, who knows what damage I’ll do. I’m very proud of you for journaling everything! Did you feel better after that? Maybe that’s just what you needed to keep going. I could work on 2 posts a day. Some days would be difficult that others but that’s what a challenge is, right?

Leslie – good for you keeping up your goals! Good luck on your 17 day diet that you are going on. Sounds like a good plan for your exercise.

Jean – I think it’s all about awareness and what you are doing with WW is making you aware of your habits and then making a plan to do better. Good job on the exercise plan. And you have time for all of that?! Good for you, you busy girl!

Syn – you busy girl, how have by been?

CindyT – are you feeling any better?

I'm quite a talkie today! Probably because I feel relaxed since it's the weekend. We're going to play bingo tonight and visit with some friends. Then church tomorrow, niece's 5 year birthday party and a meeting at church later on. Also of course watching the playoffs. Bears aren't in it but I love football. I love the sound of it playing on the tv while I'm here typing!

Better go. I hear hubby stirring from his nap and will need to see what's for dinner. Have a great rest of your day!

Good afternoon OW's & Happy Saturday to you!!!!

Gabby's first vet appointment went well & she's all up to date on her shots now. She weighed in at 6.4. She was at 3.0 when we got her, so she's doubled in weight.

I've already journaled my food for the day, so I know I'll end up with a good day today & am planning on doing the same tomorrow. Me and my sister (Donna) are both trying to lose 20 lbs. between now & May 11th.....she goes on a cruise then and I'll really like to lose 25 by my birthday on 6/8. I know I need a short term goal too, SO, I'm going to set a very ambitious goal (for me at least...) of 5 lbs. per month.

CHRIS, the foot is healing up nicely, but the arthritis has already got it drawing back up, so I'm not really sure it was worth it... :( The back is some better today.....I'm still wearing my back brace & taking it easy.....will likely wear the brace for the next week or so just to be safe....this means no exercise on the agenda for me until this heals up.

I think the posting challenge is a GREAT idea....I get so much from the post of others & then like you mentioned, the responses back to my posts! I could probably only commit to once a day though with my crazy work schedule, lunch would probably be about it for me....but we can certainly set two as the goal, and I will give it my best shot!

Oh yeah, CHRIS, so sorry you had a rough night last night.....all I can say is been there, done that....and no idea why.....HUGS TO YOU.....call me anytime you get into a binge cycle and I'll try my best to talk you down.... Congrats on being down .6 this morning. I was only down .4 this morning, but I'll take anything going in the right direction!

Cindy - so sorry about your back - how is it today? And how did that foot heal up?

Leslie - great job sticking to it with TOPS and the 17 day diet - you go girl!

Jean - that sounds like a great work out schedule! I wish we lived closer - I would join you and be your accountability partner!

Speaking of which Jean - aren't we only about an hour's drive from each other? I was thinking how nice it would be to meet up with you sometime this year! I'm in Centreville, VA - are you in Frederick, MD? Wish you were here to scrapbook with me too - I'm dying to work on my books!

Good Afternoon and Happy Saturday!

How are you today? I had quite a pity-party going last night, but got up this morning and forced myself to log in every bite that hit my mouth last night and face the music. I don't know what was wrong with me. I was so happy and in control earlier in the day and then WHAM! I came home to an empty house and pigged out on chips and cookies. What on earth was that about? So I moped about all evening because of course I ate the steak and baked potato that hubby made me for supper too - and half a roll. Yeah, like that even mattered to the carb count - by then I was WAY over my max. What a mess I was. But, I got up this morning, logged it all in, weighed in (down .6) and then began again. Made myself a beautiful omlet stuffed with red pepper, onion and spinach and finished off with some baby swiss cheese - delightful! Full of protein, low carb and just what I needed to get back on track! Now I am off to find a recipe for low carb banana bread! I know such a thing exists using almond flour instead of wheat flour. Just gotta find it!

I was thinking that I have really let you down with not posting on the forum for so long. It got me to thinking that maybe we should do a posting challenge? Something where we commit to posting on the forum atleast twice a day? And we have to comment on what we read from others. I know that personally I feel bad when I pour my heart out and then nobody comments - it doesn't happen often but it helps to remind me to acknowledge other people's post. I even used to keep a pen and paper by my computer so I could jot notes, because when I open the box to reply I forget what everybody said! So what do you think about having a posting challenge? I think it will liven up the thread, but I also think it will help us form the habit of getting on here twice a day and posting.

Well, off to research recipes! Again! I found a great one for morning egg cups for breakfast on the go so I'll tell you all about it later when I come back on for my second post today! XO

GOOD MORNING

GOING TO CITIES TODAY SCALE IS DOWN SOME TOMORROW I START MY 17-DAY DIET AGAIN. THE PAST FEW DAYS JUST BEEN JOURNALING AND WATCHING PORTIONS.
I WILL BE WALKING AROUND STORES FOR EXERCISE BUT TOMORROW WILL START A DVD EACH MORNING SISTER COMES FROM CA ON MONDAY. HAVE A GREAT DAY WILL TRY TO CHECK IN WHEN I GET HOME.

Weighed in today at WW... stayed same as last week and after reviewing my week, I am actually quite pleased with this. Pre-WW, I would have definitely gained. I was off work, did not do my work outs and had the lovely week of water weight gain. So the fact that I stayed the same is just fine with me :)

Leslie~ I love the SMART Goals idea... I will definitely be checking into this and will write up some goals this weekend.
Syn~ I also love the questions. I will be putting some thoughts together for these.
Chris~ I've got to get back to working out also....
Cynthia~ I hope your back starts feeling better real soon! My co-worker has been out all week with her back... NO JOY.
Debbi~ thanks so much again for keeping this team going and for all your great thoughts!

Next week is my week of reckoning... I have committed to Zumba on Monday and Wednesday and Water Aerobics on Tues and Thurs... WOW... and this is the plan for the next several months. But just what I need! and I really should get myself up in the morning and walk... I'll build up to this :)

Good Afternoon OW's & Happy Friday to you!!!

I'm out today with the sore back....cannot stand up straight....ugh!

As for my weekend...my new baby "Gabby" - a Christmas present from my husband - she's an 11 week old Schnauzer puppy - I've post pictures from Christmas.... She has her first vet visit tomorrow. Then church on Sunday & that's IT for me....SO glad to NOT have a bunch planned for this weekend. I really need to baby this back & see if I can't get to feeling better.

I weigh-in everyday too CHRIS, just a habit I've had for a couple of years now...I think it can really work for you....but there's times it can work against you....it's not for the faint of heart, but this journey in general is not for the faint of heart....

Happy Friday Friends!

I am so glad it is Friday! I don't know why, but the short weeks at school seem to drag out the longest! I guess just getting back into the routine is mentally challenging.

I did well yesterday - in spite of eating 4 peices of chocolate! I don't know why, but it gets harder and harder for me to start over. Let that be motivation to not have to start over -right? I guess it also shows how far off the wagon I fell. I wish I could have some of that "starting over" energy you have DEBBI!

Anyway, I am weighing in every day - it's a habit that started with my naturopath to make myself stay aware of where I am at all times. So when you see my weightloss fluctuating during the week on my ticker you know why. The good news is I lost about 2.5 pounds so far this week! That has helped to motivate me yesterday and today. I would really love to be down into the low 250's by Tuesday because that is my next appointment with the naturopath and the last time I saw her (before Christmas) I was 261.

A surprising area where I am struggling is in exercise. Usually I love to walk outdoors with the dog or ride my bike - I even love watching TV and using the elliptical - 9 months ago I could do the elliptical for an hour - now I am lucky to make it to 20 minutes. That is frustrating.

This weekend my goal is to do the 30 Day Shred DVD one day and my Beginner's Pilates one day. Maybe challenging muscles other than my legs will help get the energy flow back into exercising. I also may look into a class. I wish I could afford to join a gym. Maybe I will look into it. My friend just joined Gold's Gym for $40 a month. She faithfully goes at 5 am each day. I wonder if I had that accountability if I would do it? I'll have to think about that.

My weekend plans are to grade papers and maybe do some scrapbooking. I need some down time. I feel like I spent the entire Christmas break taking care of other people and de-cluttering my house. I want some "me" fun time.

Well, off to teach again - my kiddos are in library right now so I got the added bonus of some Spark time during the day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Chris - I LOVED it that you did the 24 hours that day! It felt like a Monday because I was just starting back into focus. So, that was when it was supposed to be for me!

I did well yesterday. Got all the things done from my 24 hour challenge yesterday also! Feels good. Seems like the beginning of working on any goal I set is the easiest because there is all that "ready to go" attitude. I'll let you know when I need a pump up but right now it feels good. Focus on one day only to achieve what I need to.

Do you have any challenges this weekend? We have a niece's 5th birthday party to go to with family and there'll be lots of stuff there. I am going to figure out what time and work my schedule so that I am not starving and I make sure to have lots of water. Since it will be Sunday, and I allow myself a small desert on that day, I may have a small piece of cake but I'll have to figure that out in advance. Other than that, I only have myself as chief sabotager to get around! And I will do that this weekend.

Hi everyone! I am doing well - didn't make my carb goal yesterday but have made it today.

I am heading to the elliptical soon to get my 20 minutes of exercise in.

For Thankful Thursday I am eternally grateful for this group. I don't say that lightly - you are my constant. When all others let me down (including myself) I can ALWAYS count on my OWs to be there to sympathize, encourage, and build me up. Thank you, thank you dear friends!

I didn't even realize when I started the 24 hour challenge that it wasn't even Monday! Shows you how out of whack I am with the holidays! So that makes me really delighted to know that tomorrow is Friday! LOL

Thankful Thursday... SOOO many things to be thankful for!!!

Faith, Family and Health are always at the top of my list. Being a part of this team and finally being motivated and doing something about getting healthier are what I will say for today's post though.

I'm finally back to work... took some needed time off over the holidays. Ended up staying home sick yesterday, so today I am playing catch up here at work. Luckily people are still in holiday mode, so this morning was nice and quiet... hoping this afternoon stays that way.
I'm in class tomorrow, so next week I'm sure things will definitely be back to normal.

I am truly thankful to all of you. Reading about your successes and your struggles really helps me to know that I am not on this journey alone. I am so thankful that you all embraced me and welcomed me into this team! and Debbie, I also want to thank you for keeping this team and this thread alive for the past several months :)

I am also truly thankful that I jumped on board with Weight Watchers and got my mojo back to get this weight off! I was in such a slump with starting and stopping so many times and had pretty much decided that this was my life... to start, stop and restart forever (but never get anywhere).
I don't know what the actual trigger was for me to check out WW's website, but I am so glad that I did. I need the weekly weigh in accountability and I need the tools... the paper tracker, the points system, the meetings, etc... and thankfully, my family went with me to the first meeting and they jumped on the support wagon for me. I feel better in the past 4 weeks that I have in the past year.

I did wonderfully yesterday! Journaled, stayed within my limits, exercised, did things while watching tv and talking to hubby, got water in, veggies/fruits in. It really wasn't that hard! I don't know why I fight things so hard sometimes but I'll ride this high wave while I have it!

MY SMART GOAL I MADE AT MEETING TODAY

I AM GOING TO BE HEALTHY AND FIT AT 170-175 LBS TO REACH THAT I WILL EXERCISE 3-4 TIMES A WEEK BY EITHER CURVES, WALKING, BOWLING, SWIMMING, OR A DVD OR WII. AND JOURNALING, AND PORTION CONTROL. A LIFESTYLE CHANGE SO I CAN MAINTAIN AT MY GOAL WT.
NO EXERCISE BUT GROCERY SHOPPING I DO GO DOWN ALL ALILES TO GET MORE STEPS IN I DID JOURNAL TODAY AND NO EATING AFTER 7 ATE MY FRUIT AND VEGIES TODAY ALSO DID COUNT EXCHANGES.

GOOD MORNING

scale went down today I weigh daily on home scale and on tops scale once a week
I use the tops scale for reporting my weigh in

today going to a tops party from old chapter i will stop and exercise at curves go to dollar store and goodwill maybe even go to best buy i hope i find the receipt as i have store credit there.

today will be day 2 of journaling my food.

Hi, just a quick check in to let you know I created a thread under Challenges to post our answers on Monday so they don't get lost in the chat thread. That way also, we can go back to that and review as we get further challenged, and add to it, or change it as we figure out what is derailing us! Hi everyone! My day is going well so far. Haven't eaten anything that wasn't pre-planned and managed to walk the dog for 25 minutes. Now to keep my lips away from the fridge and pantry for 2 hours till hubby comes home! We are grilling boneless chicken breasts with Italian dressing and I am going to look for a cauliflower recipe on spark right now. I have a bunch of raw cauliflower leftover from the week and don't want to waste it!

UGH, I just looked back at my weight stats & I’m 25 lbs. heavier than my lowest weight this past year which was on 4/24/12.....it’s like I never really bounced back from our May vacation & then I rolled right into foot surgery which kept me sitting on my tush for a couple of months & then all the stress from the new boss...excuses, excuses.....2013 is going to be the year of NO EXCUSES!

I'm doing okay so far today....like you DEB, I've spent lots of time in the potty - I'm hoping there's lots of water weight here... :) Thanks for making that 24 hour challenge suggestion CHRIS, I don't always do so well on my water when I'm not in the office, and I really need to get back into hydration mode!

Good morning

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Haven't been on in a while as these dizzy spells are getting the best of me. Medication isn't helping and no idea when my MRI will be. Have a doctor's appointment for next Wednesday so maybe I'll find something out then. On top of the dizzy spells have headaches, pain and hearing loss on my left side. The office was closed between Christmas and New Year's but I spent most of it in bed or on the couch just resting.

Hope everything had a great Christmas and New Year's. We just stayed home. My mom bought us an apple tv which you can watch netflix and rent movies on so we've been glued to the tv.

Gained some weight over Christmas which was totally expected. Now I'm back and going to try and exercise. About the only thing I can do right now is my exercise bike so I'm doing that for about 15 minutes a day. Don't want to chance the treadmill, get a dizzy spell and then fall off. That would not be good. Also watching what I eat. It's hard when you have a chef at home that likes to cook with cream and butter. I told him he needs to cut out the cream and butter and cook other stuff.

Well I guess I better head back to work. Here's to a good year.

July 1, 2014 I want to weigh 180 (the same weight I was in 1985 at high school graduation).

First, I want to give a shout out to Debbi! Thank you so much for getting us all going on this newest challenge! Boy do I need it! I had wondered away and got lost in my work again--this is my biggest downfall--that whole stress and overwork merry-go-round! I LOVE the name you selected!

Leslie, yay for you to be in onederland! Keep up your good work!

Jean, I did not know you had an 11 year old! No wonder you are always so busy. Those pre-teen years these days can be challenging as kids are so much older these days it seems--and you've got that high pressure job! Keep the sanity, girl! You can achieve those goals!

Ginger, I am so sorry that you have had struggles. I'm sending you blessings and including you in my prayers.

Cindy, so great to see that smiling face back on here! It won't take you long to get back to where you were! You are so dedicated once you get on a roll!

Chris, no worries. It is always a bit of a struggle to get back on that healthy horse! Just keep trying. You will get there--and when you do, there will be no stopping you! I heard that the spark app was listed on the news as one of the best apps of the year. I'm thinking it should be available for smart phones also or they would have said, maybe....when I get to the verizon store in the next few weeks, I'll check it out and let all you know--unless someone finds out first....

My 24 hour challenge is to stay on track! Get through a day with healthy machine perfection!

Good Morning OWs!

My 24 hour challenge is two-fold:
1) to get my exercise in this morning so that I make sure to get it in
2) to keep within my limits, even if it is at the high end

I already met challenge #1! If I don't do my exercise in the morning, I usually don't get it done. I have other things that I do after work.

I have another one that I just thought of that I'm going to challenge myself with and that is a real challenge. I'm not going to just sit in front of the tv tonight. I'll probably watch tv with hubby but I'm going to also do something else. Not sure what but I want to get out of the habit of sitting and watching tv all night after work. Probably nothing too big but I can do just about anything while watching tv. So that's #3.

I am with you all. I feel really good at the beginning of the year to get working on myself again. I hope to follow though on my goals and commitments.

Good morning friends! What is your 24 hour challenge going to be? I am going to challenge myself to stay under 70 carbs today. I fell apart last night - did great until about 5:30 then ate too much dinner. I found myself to be quite cranky yesterday - think it was sugar withdrawal? I do!

Drink your water today ladies - it will hydrate your dry skin, keep you full, and flush out your poor kidneys who have been filtering out all the junk you've been eating - your body will thank you!

Hi Ladies & Hello Scrap!

I thoroughly enjoyed your post. I wish I had an I-phone as then I would also download those apps.

I was hoping to get into Onderland by the time December 31st got it, but it wasn't to be. I was at my low of 246 back in July, and then everything went to "pot" and I fell off the bandwagon big time. Unfortunately, alot of health problems contributed to the weight gain as I haven't been able to move around as much, plus sickness and a recent stay in the hospital. I just got out on Christmas day after seven long days in there. emoticon

Well, it's January 1st and I've got new determination to get there. I did it in 2012 and I plan to do it in 2013. That was a 34 pound weight gain so I am hoping to do at least that and even more by July 1st.

Hope everyone is also ready to go for 2012.

Happy New Year to a great group of ladies ( and our dear Trent). I am so blessed to have such supportive, non- judgemental friends that I can just be " me" with. You are so special and I am honored to be part of this group!

I pray that 2013 brings us all health and happiness in abundance! XO

I don't know how many of you have an iPhone or an iPad but yesterday I downloaded the SparkPeople app. It costs $3.99 (one time). It is great! One click and you can add your exercise, weight, and food into your tracker. I love it - especially since my PC is soooo slow. I find it very easy to use. The only down side is that it is only for the trackers - you cannot blog or write on the forum - but wow - to be able to log exercise and food so quickly is amazing! I also downloaded the Spark recipe app - it is free and you can search the recipe database with one click too! So convenient!

I also downloaded a diary app to keep a journal each day. I just wanted a private space where I could put my thoughts and prayers. I have used a paper journal in the past, but I can type faster than I can write! It was a free app called "Secret Diary". It's pink and looks like it is for teenagers, but I don't care! It is password protected and free!

I feel very excited today to begin this journey. At first, when I woke up this morning and saw all the leftover sweets and snacks that we have been eating for the past week I got a little discouraged - I began the "oh it is New Year's Day - I will eat this today and start tomorrow" but I had a brainstorm to put the leftover spinach and artichoke dip in my omlet instead of on a pita chip - delicious! That led to squeezing the leftover lime wedges into a 64 ounce water bottle. Delicious again! And now I am going to take out some chicken for supper and challenge myself to find a good low carb recipe to make with it. I have plenty of leftover cut up veggies for lunch. I have decided to freeze all of the homemade cookies and candies for my hubby and son. When he heads back to college in a week or so they are going with him! So today is going to be okay after all!

I officially weighted in today 262.8. My lowest in 2012 was 247.8 so my first goal is to lose that 15 pounds asap. Then spend the rest of 2013 making a new all-time low!

Well, off to exercise before I back out - drink your water girls! Don't let the "I'll start tomorrow's" bring you down! You can make atleast one good change today - what will yours be? XO

The cards and/or notes to motivate ourselves is a great idea Syn! I would even love to send random notes to our spark friends throughout the year - do we have a place on our forum where we could exchange addresses?

I don't know why but my blog entry is not showing on the feed- any suggestions?

I just cut up bag of carrots, two sweet peppers, a cucumber, two stalks of celery, a head of cauliflower and a bunch of broccoli. I made a double batch of dill dip to go with it and a pie pan full of spinach and artichoke dip. Yummy! Funny how your body misses veggies when it's been awhile!

Well, off to get the house ready for company...

I just had an idea....I'm going to set up a 12 month file for myself with written messages in times/months where I already know I will struggle. If any of you would like to send me a package of stamped self-addessed letters to mail to you on your weak months, I will be glad to do that for any of you. Just put the Month you want it mailed to you somewhere on the outside of the envelope--maybe front lower left corner could be "February motivation".

I was thinking how could we capture our motivation we have right now, and send it to our older self later in the year? I think this might work. What do you think?

Hello OW FRIENDS! And, welcome back, Chris! I, too, am starting out just 11 pounds down from my beginning weight, and 31 pounds higher than last summer. I must figure out how to reel myself back in before I get that far out again.

Leslie, WOW, girl! size 14! You go, girl! I know you must be talll. At your weight, I think I am in a 16 and I'm 5'8" tall. to squeeze into a 14, I think I need to be around 170--but I have a large body frame. I have a girl friend that is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. My skeleton is bigger than she is! But,man o man, can that woman eat!

Jean, glad you are getting a few days to relax! You have so much stess throughout the year, so enjoy your time! Why is it that those closest to us--those we grew up with--treat us the worts? My family is the same way. I have a 3 day rule when going back east to visit relatives. That's about all the drama, judging (I had never throught about that before, Jean, but you are absolutely RIGHT!), and emotional game playing. Sometimes I can't believe I came from that group as I can't tolerate being around any of it. Itt's no wonder I am an emotional eater! Geesh.

Deb, you can root for the Packers and feel good about it as my cousin used to play for them.I think he is an announcer now. I was closer to his sister when I was younger. Although I will also have a soft spot in my heart for the bears since I am originally from Illlinois. My boss set me up for a lunch date when I was 19 or so with a tackle from the Bears--I think my boss met him at one of his business groups. I had never seen a human being that was that big before! LOL. His words of wisdom for me was to be a homecoming queen at college! Even then I knew that was not good advice. Now, the tunny thing is that I don't like to watch sports, don't pay any attention to any of it, and my first X was a baseball player! Funny how things work out, I think he picked me because I wasn't his usual barbie type.

I asked hub if he wanted to go out for dinner since I work all weekend. I was so glad he didn't want to go anywhere! I'm with you, Deb! This is not the night to be out driving around anywhere. Next weekend we have a dinner party at a friend's house that should be really fun...we are having flights of soup, salad, and dessert. One girlfriend's hub works for a company that sells meat, so they are doing grilled bably lamb chop appetizers!

Good Sunday Morning OWs!

Good job Syn in getting the word out and getting others to commit! We have been visiting with more family and friends this weekend. Went shopping yesterday for some sale cloths. Even though I'm still at weight I don't particularly like, I still need winter cloths! It's going to be in the 20s the rest of this week. One item I like is the mock turtle necks to wear under other light sweaters or shirts. They are cozy, keep my chest and lower neck warm without being overly bulky. Found them on sale at Kohl's for 6.99 a piece, then 20% off of that with a coupon so each were about 5.60 each. Got 4 in different colors! A couple of other things and I'm ready for the cold.

Today is church, then watching my BEARS!! We need to win over Detroit and Packers need to beat Minnisota for us to be in the playoffs as a wild card. We had been doing so good the 1st half of the year and now need this combo. Can't believe I have to cheer for the Packers today!! Just a friendly rivalry. So, we'll have lunch with mom over and watch the games. Later, it's finishing some cleaning and laundry and some resting.

Not sure what we are doing for New Year's Eve. Maybe a nice meal at home to stay away from all the revalers and keep away from the drunk drivers. We don't drink but that's who usually gets hurt in the crashes; the ones that don't. So, maybe a quite, safe entry into the New Year. We both have off so a 4 day weekend is really nice.
