Tom,
I'm using a Kindle Fire. When I enter www.sparkpeople.com/android I get an error message:

nginx/1.2.0

Seems only to happen when I'm dealing with SparkPeople....and suggestions? The App works great!

Thanks, Karen

I got an email talking about a new update 1.03 for nutrition app, but I'm unable to find a place to download. However when I check my app it says version 2.03? Does that mean it was automatically updated or not?

I have been using the nutrition and fitness app to track when I'm away from my puter at home. I love the nutrition tracker, but wish the fitness tracker would show my strength/cardio workout that I have in my planner everyday so I could just check it off instead of having to put it in. :(

Thanks, I got the cardio trainer app and widget right after I read your post. I'm going to use it to walk my dogs....or myself for that matter. It will be nice to be able to listen to my podcasts too!

I've found the Android market to be well user unfriendly. I navigated my internet to this page and clicked on his link and that was how I was able to download the apps.

Thanks so much. I just downloaded both apps to my android phone and am going to try to get them on my tablet too. I don't use the diet tracker but I never know...I might start using it. I've used it before and it takes some real dedication but I can use it to check out meals on the go!

I am having an issue and would like some help. I downloaded the app (so excited for it by the way, school starts again soon) and it linked to my account but changes I make are not syncing from one to the other. Not even the food and water I track. So I am stuck using one or the other. The app is easier on the go but it doesn't let me track the other goals like team goals and fast break goals.

Under More in the lower right hand corner of the app it will take you to settings. Under settings there is a logout button.

Question: I've got an Incredibe 2 and I've been able to download the tracker app w/o issue but I'm not able to log off of it....ever! When I tap the app it opens up and is ready to go---no logging in required and I'm not sure that I like that, as several of my family members have access to my phone! How do I change it so that I'm required to log in and where do I go to log out?

I mostly use Sparkpeople from my computer, but when I'm away from my computer, it's really handy to be able to track my food as the day goes on. If I don't track my food, I always go way over the calorie limit!

It would be great if you could link the app to your Spark Teams. It would make tracking for challenges much easier, and probably increase participation in the challenges. I travel for work a few times per month, and when I travel it is not as easy for me to get signed into the actual site.

I have downloaded the Spark app as well as the Healthy Recipes app. But, I have to be honest - in the past week since I have joined Spark, I haven't accessed either one of them. I do everything on my computer & actually kinda "forget" that I have the app on my phone. I will have to try to remember to use them or might just have to consider dumping them. No reason having excess baggage on my phone that I'm not making use of.

I have a Droid Incredible also, and I downloaded the Sparkpeople App and was able to open it right away. Like the other poster, though, it wouldn't let me log onto my old name - it said there was another user (me) and wouldn't let me use it. I ended up starting a new Spark account - I had "relapsed' anyway, and kind of wanted to start over. I do love the app, though, like another poster, I bought the Droid mainly for the Spark app, and I can do everything on it. Oh, there is one thing, though. I can open and read Replies to a Thread from one of my teams - but if it's a new post on one of my teams, I can't open it, I just get an error message saying I need to enable HTML. I thought HTML was enabled and if it isn't, how do I do it?

I have the droid Incredible and am also wondering how to link my app to my online account. It only offers 2 options---create a new account or use the app without creating an account. When I try to create an account using my current login, it says someone else is already using that username (me, of course), but won't let me log in to it. I've used the app for a couple of days to track food and exercise, but would like for it to link up so I don't have to go online and put all the information in again. Thanks

For those like myself who've been having trouble finding it in the marketplace, apparently there were some updates, and finally I have successfully downloaded the app onto my HTC Wildfire. So hopefully this is across the board and everyone can access it now! :)

I made the decision to purchase a droid phone just so I could track my nutrition and activity on it. I actually justified buying the phone for this one purpose. What a blessing this has been. The minute I'm done with a meal or snack, I'm able to log the information, no matter where I am and have a steady source of information of where I am during the day. I can look up foods and figure nutrition value before I make the decision to eat it. I am also able to log my exercise right after I'm done. I love this application. Thank you Tom!

I have the same problem with HTC Wildlife. Lots of applications that are supposed to be on the market are not there, due to a sort of "fingerprint missing" or something. However when I install them directly (apk file) they work just fine.

So can somebody to give a link to .apk file, not to Android Market?

Here's an explanation I found:

"Dear NNN The explanation we have been given is that for all new ROMS released we have to supply Google with a "fingerprint" that identifies the ROM and this needs to be updated in their database with compatibility info and such so that the correct apps can be shown. Such as the market filtering out incompatible apps. We do supply these before relaese of all our ROM's and devices however we have no say over how long it takes for Google to update their database. Best regards, Bjorn D HTC"

Is it possible some phones with somewhat limited functionality wouldn't have access to it? Because my husband is running the app on an HTC Desire, but I can't find it in the market place with my new HTC Wildfire, which is pretty much a Desire Lite. And given we've got a biking holiday coming up, this would be enormously useful.

i just laughed out loud... if youd like to find the app, (as has been said)launch your market app and type "sparkpeople." this will find the recipe app and the diet and food tracker. you could also search for diet tracker/food tracker and it would still come up.

its awfully cool that android HAS the barcode functionality, but typing in that ridiculously long website address to find a barcode to scan is so much more work than this method.

the barcodes are for some people to include to save a step if you come across something randomly... the steps it saves are: 1)launching the market and 2)typing the app name. For example, it would be convenient for the book publisher to include the barcode on the back of the book. or if the local paper or a magazine did an article on it. snap, download, done.

android is about options, and sometimes one method will be more convenient than another, sometimes vice-versa. there is no magic to finding any app ever. market search.

ive added the barcode pic to my sparkpage pics. you should be able to hover and view.

For using Cardio Trainer's music integration, click on Settings and scroll down to Music Settings. You can (1) Enable MI, (2) Select playlist and (3) Enable shuffle.

The playlist on your phone will be found on the music feature, the little speaker icon, that you do already have on your phone.

I'm actually annoyed with CT. The other day it was counting time but no steps or mileage - ugh. It also doesn't un-pause itself when it should.

I just got my droid and am still learning how to use it. One of the first things I downloaded was runkeeper which is great, however from many that Cardio Trainer is even better. I especially like the voice notification functions. You stated that this works with the music player app. Is this another app that I need to download or is it the app that is preinstalled on my phone that has a picture of a speaker and just says music underneath?

I really feel that once you're in the realm of smart phones, the idea of a pedometer app is a lesser choice, when your phone has GPS available. Pedometer is far less accurate, depending on how and where you carry your phone it may not register every step, it would need to be adjusted for your stride, etc. Cardio Trainer uses GPS and even shows you on the map where you're walking/running. If only Cardio Trainer could update my workouts directly into SparkPeople and save me a step, I'd love it even more.

I also love CardioTrainer's integration with the music player app, and it's voice notification functions. I can listen to my favorite playlists while I'm walking/running, and every preconfigured interval (1min, 5min, etc) it will speak over the music to tell me how far, how long, my pace, and/or how many calories. Quite pleasant.

When in doubt, take a hike.

Does anyone use a pedometer app that actually works? Especially free apps? I've read reviews, some don't actually count. That's sort of the point of a step counter!

My phone choice was Spark-driven. For example, looking at BB's, I ruled out any Storms b/c the Spark app doesn't work on the Storms. Spark's not the only reason, but one of the central reasons I needed to upgrade to a smartphone. It was cheaper than it will be to upgrade my computer, and I could only do one or the other right now. I feel like I had a great advantage, following the posts of other Sparkers who'd gone into smartphone territory ahead of moi.

The same way you find any app... Go to the Android Market and search for "Spark".

Is it possible for SparkPeople to create QMR barcodes for their pages so we can use an app (such as Barcode Scanner) to scan from computer monitor to Android phone?

I was able to find it, even though my phone is still running an older version of the Android software. Maybe restart your phone? It's definitely there.

I have a Motorola Cliq and I just got it over the weekend.

Maybe it's restricted by the version of the Android software you're running. What phone and Android version are you on?

When in doubt, take a hike.

I did a search for SparkPeople in the market and both of the apps. came up. If this doesn't work, then I would suggest contacting your phone carrier. The specific names of the apps. are Diet & Food Tracker and Healthy Recipes - SparkRecipes.

Good luck.

Hi there,
I am trying to download the App, but all of the links do not find the App in the market. Even the search function on the market doesn´t find it,allthough the Website of The Android market shows the app..
Is there a Problem, or even worse, a restriction ?
If so, is there another place to download the app manually?
thx
for helping me

I have to agree. I'm about to take a short out-of-town trip and I might not even bring a laptop, just because I can do everything I need to do, including SparkPeople, on the droid.

When in doubt, take a hike.

I love the apps. I just discovered them yesterday and am finding them extremely helpful for when I am away from the computer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. emoticon

Wow! This tracking app is great. I just got my Droid 2 weeks ago and I was hoping this would be available. Thanks!

In addition to our Healthy Recipes app, we have launched our Diet & Food Tracker app. Both apps are available by visiting www.sparkpeople.com/android in the Android browser.
