I think you're looking at this all wrong. With all of those ingredients, this must be one of the most well-rounded foods on the market today.
I had to laugh when I saw how many different fats were in a Twinkie. I mean, how did anyone come up with this recipe? I can almost picture a bunch of mad scientists in a secret basement lab of the Hostess Company. One of them says, "This doesn't taste quite right. I think it needs some diglyceride." Another one says, "Yes add some of that, but I think we're a little too heavy on the FD&C Yellow #5, and instead of all that vegetable shortening, we should add some animal fat instead."
