Hi Everyone! I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second. My hubby talked me into another one, but after this one I will be DONE. We haven't told our families yet, but I think they will be excited. This pregnancy is so much different. My activity has been lower and my eating has been soooo much worse. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing.

I used my fitness pal for a while because my sisters are on there but I really missed all of my already established meal items and didn't want to mess with setting it all up again. I'm trying too force myself to reset by taking the time to work on my healthiness.

Marley will help me make salads. We pick the lettuces and stuff from our garden then we watch it together and i chop it and she puts it in the bowl. I have found if i let her pull a chair up to the counter to stand on next to me she finds cooking takes much more fun. Also if she starts to loose her attention span i ask her to show her puppy stuffed animal how to make salad and then she'll start telling her how to do it. giving her a job to do even if i don't need it done helps.

My mom has her color in her high chair while she gets some cooking done.

its great that your training it really only seems to be possible to do one or the other at a time... sigh

I've missed you Jamie!! I've missed everyone!! Sometimes I look back fondly on when I used to work-out a lot and spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing healthy recipes. When will that happen again? I'm hoping that Lillian will enjoy helping in the kitchen, but will I need to wait another 5 years before she has a long enough attention span? Sometimes I miss the good ol' days. The days of fitting into clothes and feeling proud of my health and fitness capabilities. Something's gotta give.

I am current with my half-marathon training, so I am proud of that. However, I am NOT proud of my eating habits this week.

It's been getting warmer out lately a few days in the 50's in NH sends everyone to the beach :)

I have been getting out on these nice days and going work walks and playing at the park. Life always get sooo much better when i start spending more time outside.

I have a bunch of work to do in the yard this year but it wont be as bad as last year even though i do need to move the veggie garden i put in last spring. when the leaves came in it didn't get enough sun in the late afternoon so i'm moving it so a sunnier spot this year.
spring clean up is when i first can tell how much i didn't move all winter. lol

My brother is getting married this year and it would be nice to loose some weight before those family photos i'm welcoming in phase two of my plan.

I've been doing a bit better...more aware of what I'm doing to sabotage myself. I've been eating better and getting some movement in. I just want to be in a better place. I turn 32 in 3 months, so I would definitely like to put in a lot of hardwork before then.

I'm sorry that your grandmother passed away but I'm glad that you were able to be there with family for it all.

I can't imagine trying to stay healthy in the middle of all of the things going on with you. How has it been the past two days with getting back on track?

Hey Team! I'm back...hopefully for good this time. Just an update: My Grandma passed away Feb 21st without pain and surrounded by the love of her 9 children. I was able to see her the day before she passed away. I was so thankful for the opportunity to say good-bye. I felt like I had a case of the winter blues, and it turns out my thyroid levels were low and out of range for where they should be. I have known about my hypothyroidism, but the Dr increased my medication and I think it is helping a bit. We'll see. I have another appt in 5 weeks and if I am still feeling crummy, we will discuss antidepressants.

Exercise and eating right have been nonexistent for the past couple of months. This isn't helping anything, as I weigh more now than I did postpartum. I'm trying to get back on the saddle starting today.

I hope everyone has been doing well. It is nice to be back and I look forward to touching base with everyone.

Natalie - Congratulations on the new position! Yea!!! I'm sorry that Joe is sick. Lil had a really bad cough about a month ago and it was causing her to vomit. I was wondering if she had RSV or something. Scary.

Jamie - I'm sorry to hear that Marley has a UTI. :( My boss took her daughter to the Dr because she was getting recurrent UTI's. They found out that she has ureterovesical reflux, which is common I guess and most kids will outgrow it. I hope the UTI is an isolated incident and it is nothing more serious.

Well, I started to feel crummy on Monday evening with chills and a sore throat. Ugh. I feel like since the new year someone in my family has been sick each week!!!

Congrats on the new position!!!!

OK so about 3 weeks ago Marley started to complain that her vagina hurt but said it didn't hurt when she peed but at the same time she started to have more accidents not making it to the potty. so we took her to the Dr. they said there was a little blood in her urine but not enough to call it a UTI said come back in two weeks. went back and got a call yesterday that she did in fact have a UTI. I knew she did she's been extra fussy and much more stubborn lately i'm hoping that's just a side effect and it will go away with her infection...... if not then i guess it's the terrible twos.

Marley got Conjunctivitis when she was just a baby. the Dr. told us to put the drops in both eyes because kids end up rubbing the not infected eye after rubbing the infected eye and they usually do end up getting it both eyes. I'm sorry your Dr didn't tell you the same thing. If i remember right it went away really fast though.

Hey guys, just wanted to apologize for being MIA.

I did get the Team Lead position and its a very big promotion in my unit...even though I've been there almost 13 years, people just don't get promoted like that everyday. I interviewed for the position like everyone else did and I earned it fair and square. Though some people who have been there for 25 yrs would differ in opinion.

Unfortunately for me, this means more meetings and one on one case time during the day. No more drone production but that means less time on Spark. I guess I'll just have to make the extra time at night when I can. I miss you all and I'm sorry I haven't been able to check in until now....its been crazy.

Joe is starting with the chest congestion probably from post-nasal drip. He woke up late Saturday night with the scariest cough I have ever heard. He got all upset, crying, hyperventilating and puked once cuz he was so freaked out that his cough was out of control. He was a tired baby tonight and went down without a fight that's for sure. I hope the vitamins and benadryl help ..it usually dries him up enough to get some rest and we let him drip during the day LOL.

Other than that, S.O.S. here...still maintaining weight, no exercise, crazy busy, weight may have gone down because my appetite just isnt there and sometimes I'm so busy during the day that I don't get to eat until like 2pm...trying NOT to do that..but what can ya do. I'll try to snack as much as I can to not mess my body up more. Love you all!

OK...dinner is on...gotta go...I hope to check in soon xooxoxo

The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself. All the rest is a piece of cake ; )

That's a good point Jamie. Now we will be able to teach our kids the things that I wish our parents had taught us.

I'm hanging on by a thread today. Lil was sent home for daycare on Thursday for pink eye. I took her to the Dr on Friday and got some drops. She also has a horrible cough and cold. She just got over one two weeks ago with an ear infection, so I was hoping for a break. Yesterday I noticed that the pink eye was traveling to the other eye...sigh. Now she is getting drops in both eyes, and I wish the Dr would have initially told me to do that. I took her to school today with her other pink eye and told them that she was getting the drops, so I don't know if she will get sent home or not. Also, she is going through some type of sleep regression. She seems mentally wired when I lay her down and didn't nap yesterday and barely slept the past two nights. We are both exhausted.

Anyone else have a sick kidd-o?

I never ate fast food growing up. my mom was always dieting so we ate really healthy. When i moved out for college is when i started eating fast food because dollor menu was cheep and it was fast and easy. I never really "like/enjoyed" the food but it was fast and easy lol.

i think where my mom went wrong is..... i got the message about what healthy food was but i never got the message that explained spending the money and time to keep your self healthy was worth more then anything else. that health is not the thing to make cuts from when things get tight.

i quite the gym ate cheep crappy food no longer had insurance so i stop going to the dentist. a few years later i've seen what happens when you make the wrong cuts.

thats the message i'll try and teach Marley

Good job Jamie! Keep going strong and don't give up. My hubby has done pretty well with not eating a lot of fast food lately. I have never had an issue with fast food because it was not part of our family meals while we were growing up so I never acquired a desire or taste for it. My MIL used to get McDonald's for dinner every day when my husband was a teenager and it has been a hard habit for him to break.

I, on the other hand, have a big sweet tooth and am a snack eater. I attribute that to my mom baking brownies and cookies while we were growing up for no special occasion.

I'm also glad that I have hopefully broken my soda addiction. I don't want Lillian seeing me drinking it and wanting to emulate me and "drink soda like mommy", or think that is the norm.

So if you break the fast food habit for good, hopefully you will be setting a good example for Marley. :)

today i feel good about how far my husband and i have come with not eating fast food. This is the hardest thing we have done together and the first time we have stuck to something for a while. we are going strong and i don't see a break in sight. The longer the streak gets the more i don't want to break it.

OK so i finally gave up on my scale and bought a new one. The new one matched the dr.s but i'm 7lbs heavier on it. so i gotta start with that number i guess. but the good news is that either way I've been loosing weight. i put on pants today that 3 weeks ago didn't fit so that means something. emoticon

I always said, Consistency is KEY to achieving success....wish I could practice what I preach!

I also have not been great with exercise and eating and I also thrive on routine...once out of whack, its SO easy to say Forget it! Also getting sick and getting TOM this week just puts the final nail on the coffin LOL

Great job on the hike! 30 degrees out...you are a better woman than I am! I am such a wuss with the cold and snow and we live in it 1/4 of the year! hee hee. The only time I really went out in the cold was when I used to lease a horse. He wasnt the type of horse that could sit around and do nothing without being fresh so I had to ride him like 3-4 times a week...talk about a workout. I would have my fleece gloves, fleece socks, underarmour, fleece vest, double lined jacket, fleece riding pants and those things for your ears...though I felt like a Michelin character I looked pretty darn good and wow the calories I burned! I hope someday to get back into that again in the near future...

Wow Jamie, that is awesome! Well, it is not awesome that you felt so out of shape, but awesome that you went on a long hike! I'm also glad you got sparked. I thrive on schedules, but have not done well with the holidays of staying out late, sleeping in later, being on the go, etc. I'm ready to get consistency back in my life!

Today it was 30* out and I went for a 5.25mi mt hike/climb with my dad. there were points where it got really steep for a long while that kicked my but and i was having sooo much trouble breathing. I have never felt sooo out of shape in m life. It shouldn't have been that hard. I'm stoked though because it felt great to push myself. Got a little sparked today :)

yet still ate like crap. maybe tomorrow i'll manage to eat better and get exercise.

i've tracked two days in a row though so that's good. :)

Well, this week has sucked as far as eating well, drinking water, and exercising. I'm hoping to get back to it tomorrow...and praying that I feel better than I do today. Anyway, despite all of this crapola, I wanted to let y'all know about my little victory. In high school and college I rarely drank soda, but once I got my first job, my co-worker drank a lot of Diet Coke and I had a crush on this man (who I later found out was gay), so I started going to the vending machine with him for Diet Cokes and Three Musketeer bars. My second job was in a corporate office, where soda was free and well stocked in the fridge. Hence, began my addiction to this tasty, yet calorie free beverage.

Anyway, I knew it was bad, but I needed to have some kind of vice, right? Well, now I have a lot of vices... A couple of weeks ago there was a news report about how bad diet soda was and how it could potentially cause kidney damage. I thought I had read this before, but this time I decided to eliminate it from my diet. I want to be soda free. My brother has impaired kidney function for reasons unknown, which also makes him wonder if it could be linked to the crap load of diet soda that he drinks.

DH was out yesterday and called to ask me if I needed anything. I told him to get me a Powerade, so he came home with a huge Diet Coke. (Um...okay, NOT the same thing). I was happy to be disappointed about getting the Diet Coke, took a few sips to act like I was grateful and then dumped the rest out in the sink.

Victory!!!

It's been quiet around here! How are y'all doing? Natalie, how was Joe's second birthday?

Not much to report here. I am starting physical therapy today for some right knee pain I have been having when kneeling. The MRI didn't show anything, so if PT doesn't help, the ortho Dr said surgery is an option. I think I would prefer to live with it right now, rather than risk making it worse!

Hopefully it is some fluke like water retention, or PMS. Great job on eating well and getting on the treadmill. DH is joining a weight loss competition at work on Friday and I plan to weigh in as well. Now we are fighting a cold that is going around the house, and I am awaiting my Dr appt on Friday so I can get the results of my MRI. I had to pick up Lil early yesterday because daycare called about some bumps that were on her skin. It is always something, I tell ya!

I'm feeling emotional today. I know Lillian has a peanut allergy, but there have been two unexplained reactions. We had her tested, and she tested positive for eggs as well. I realize this is a bummer, but thankfully it is not something more serious and she is overall a very healthy child. However, the Dr said that I will need to get her Medic bracelets and if she has a reaction in the future, go the ER after administering the Epi-pen. Her reactions have been anaphylactic, but I never thought there was a need to go to the ER unless her breathing was compromised. I don't know if he was over reacting, or if I was under reacting. The good news is that she may outgrow the egg allergy by the time she is five. Thanks for letting me vent, ladies!

Hey Jules..I know...reading your message was like reading my mind right now...its hard to remember how we looked prior to the baby..its hard to know how much time we had to exercise..its real hard to find the energy to want to go and exercise when we would much rather be spending it with our family. What a crazy turn of events right?

I've also vocalized my depression to my husband..told him we both need to do something, he has gained more weight too and so have I. I know he can't be happy either and we need to make it happen some way or other. I hate to look at myself in the mirror and I used to love having my picture taken...not anymore, I cringe or hide behind Joe. I grieve a lot for my past life too, very very normal, you are not weird or a debbie downer, you are normal just like the rest of us and you have my total support..even if you want me to check in with you everyday or every other and anybody else who is "back"..let me know xooxxo

I'm defiantly working on trying to create some "me time" at this point. I've realized that loosing myself is just making it so that i just give 70% all the time instead of taking a little break and then being able to get a full 100%. Sometimes it seems crazy to me that it's taken almost 2 years for me to adjust, but i guess that's pretty normal.

I'm also really making a point of trying to get Marley to do things on her own. She's too clingy for me. lol I'm lucky that she's outgoing and not afraid of people but i think the fact that one of her parents is always with her has made her more dependent on us. Something that preschool would have been helpful with. Also the fact that she doesn't really like toys doesn't help. All she wants to do is have us read to her, I guess that just means I better hurry up and teach her to read :) sigh.

I also have my moments of missing life pre-baby.
Like how i started typing this at 8:20 this am and now it's 12:40pm and i'm just coming back to finish it.

i've lost my train of thought.

I also have very little energy compared to pre-baby. Thankfully my sex life has gotten better after i ditched my Depo shot in may. I was only having sex like once a month before that, between the shot and just how tired being a mom is i had no sex drive at all. We still only have sex about once a week but the increase is defiantly helping the strain that was/is on our relationship. Our best friends have three kids and say they have sex like 3 times a week. I have no idea how they do it :) lol

It's good to see that this group is going again. I think since our kiddos are almost 2 now, that perhaps we are finally getting into a routine and carving out some "me-time".

I have been feeling depressed lately. I am depressed about the state of my body post pregnancy. Saggy boobs, fluffy tummy, etc. I do not think I will ever get my pre-prego body back because that would require working out 2+ hours a day and making fitness another full-time job/hobby like I used to before I had Lillian. I guess I'm also missing the loss of my former life. Now it seems like when I get into a routine, she gets sick or something and then I'm too tired to work out or eat healthy.

I was always known as a health nut and now I am far from it. In our new neighborhood most of the women don't work and all look fantastic. I walk around like a zombie, looking all raggedy and worn out. I have low sex drive because I just don't feel good about myself and I think it is putting a strain on my marriage.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. Maybe I am just super emotional and all will be fine tomorrow.

We went to this restaurant yesterday afternoon w/DH's family, his Uncle is up from Texas and this former farm turned extreme chicken buffet place had neverending chicken, french fries and pasta w/marinara sauce all you can eat. You don't even have to get up, they bring it to you. I ate and I ate and I ate and I paid for it later on when I felt it about an hour or two later and I actually became nauseated to the point that I thought it may make a return appearance and my stomach hurt so bad....

Luckily we don't go to this place often but I realized afterwards that I didn't pace myself, I didn't slow down and I paid for it..lesson learned. Watch yourself when you go to places like that..I gorged so quickly and so fast my body wasn't able to react and let me know I ate too much, sure felt the pain later and even when I went to bed.

So today I am detoxing with fruit...all day LOL just to "feel" better and not loaded with "crud"

Happy Monday girls!

As long as its acknowledged, accepted and understood, its way easier to move on than staying there wondering what you did wrong..that's a good thing : ) good for you...onto the next!!!!!

yesterday i went to this hot air balloon festival which ended up to be totally lame because the weather made it so that they couldn't actually launch or even set up for the glowing display. which was the whole point of going. so instead i just ended up eating fried dough and spending some money that didn't need to be spent. We did see fireworks though so that was nice. Today i just feel bad about eating crap. It's OK I'm going have a good day today and get right back on track.

I will have to look into getting an herb garden started!

How excited that you finished the project today! Now it is waiting time while these veggies grow!

I got most of the project finished today. It's been such a huge project i was starting to think i would never get it all done.

lot of herbs you can grow inside if they get plenty of sun. plus they make everything smell good. One year i had two big plant pots one on each side of the door and filled them will herbs. I like container planting much more then regular garden planting because there's no weeding involved.

I wish i lived where you do Kate, you can grow a lot more stuff then me, also your harvesting seasons are much longer!!

It will be amazing to have fresh veggies to eat! I really want to do a small herb garden in a window box since we don't have a backyard but I would love to have fresh herbs!
