I agree and it's not easy to put these people up on pedestals but as adults we should know better; but even we make that mistake sometimes. It's our kids that worry me the most and a lot of parents barely teach them right from wrong these days let alone something like this. Many of these athletes forget that they are role models for our kids and should act accordingly and as paying supporters of these people we should be more dutiful in running them out of the profession if they can't handle the job. As for Teabow I pray that he always keeps the morals that he emanates because if he fell there would be many people just stunned, including myself.

Fortunately, my boys & I spent years out @ Sky Sox meeting players & now that my son works with them, we know just how HUMAN they are! lol, which makes me love them even more! It's the ones that forget in THIER minds that they are human, that I don't like! I won't name any of them, but I'm sure you guys can think of a few. BTW: of all of the athletes I have me & I've met a lot, Tim Tebow is the MOST wonderful!

I agree that it's good he's taking responsibility and has apologized for it (unlike Lance Armstrong). The whole "hero worship" society is the problem and when a hero falls... we are struck with a sense of disappointment. I admit, I'm one of those that love Todd Helton (I regularly call him "The Toddfather") and had a bit of a smug attitude of "well MY favorite sports icon is perfect" when talking to people that love Cabreara, Ray Lewis, Barry Bonds, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods (dang, this is a long list!), etc etc. So I was knocked down a peg... at least in my own mind.
However, people make mistakes and... Helton is human after all. And, at least he isn't accused of abusing steroids or killing people (Ray Lewis) so his mistake is something we could all easily make.

Yea, I know what your saying about holding athletes & people in the public eye to a higher standard that we do ourselves. I had the utmost respect for Lance Armstrong for being one of the best athletes in the world; ha, not to mention Tiger. So as long as Todd takes responsibility for his action and creates a positive out of a negative it'll be all good.

Wow! Rockies are really kicking it during the end of the season this year! If the silly Giants would start loosing, I think we could actually, possibly be in contention for the playoffs....okay, maybe, I'm dreaming, but it doesn't hurt to be optimistic!

The Rockies have bee AWSOME! Last nights game was the best. Getting Jeff back was the best thing they have done! These young guys are amazing & I'm believing for a playoff spot! Even if we don't go to the playoffs, if we leave the team as is, except for some relief pitchers, we will definately go next year!

One thing we need is dependable Starters who can go further than 4 innings into a game and Relievers who can hold off the other team if they're given some decent rest. I know what it feels like to watch the Rockies implode night after night on TV, it's got to be really hard on the players to get the team into a position to control their own destiny nearly every game, and then watch as their hard won lead goes up in smoke before their eyes...and Jim Tracy looks like he doesn't even want to be out there watching the game...it's tough to enjoy a lead when you know it could vanish at any time...and probably will...

Awwwww....last night's loss to the Giants was a heartbreaker! Friederich performed so well, it was so disappointing that we couldn't give him the run support to win, especially after leaving so many runners on base throughout the game...

My gosh, we've got to do something to slow down the opponents bats! Our offense can beat anyone if our rotation would just give them a chance. Last night's game was so discouraging from a defensive standpoint.

Rockies didn'tl look very good today at their home opener, but we did see a pitching masterpiece from Barry Zito. A 4 hit shutout, no walks and I don't think any Rocky made it past second base. OUCH.

Yea, I wouldn't cry to see Apodaca go or Lansford, but I REALLY want Giambi to be our next hitting coach, and since I've heard that he wants to play next year, I guess we could hang on to Lansford for another year. We have a couple young, good starters, but definately we need some good pitching, especially relief! I keep saying, keep Cookie as relief, I think at this point in his career, that is where he should be. We DEFINATELY need a good 3rd baseman! That's where we have problems, too.
I will try to think of some challenges for the offseason, so that our team can stay active! And remember, there is only 189 more days til opening day!

I too am sad the season is over, but happy that it is. This goes under the season to forget. It started out very promissing, but didn't finish as well as we would have liked. I hope that we can get some pitching during the off season. I would also like to see Apodaca go. Carney Lansford could stay for one more season.

Time to just sit back and enjoy the playoffs and root against the Yankees! Keep up the great work everyone and let's see if we can keep this group active during the off season.

Well, it's the last game of the season & actually, as I watch, it's the last hour. Ofcourse, I'm sad. Doesn't matter how well or how bad the season is, I really love my team & will miss them. Even though I get angry, I'm sure I will miss any of the players that we loose during the offseason, but I will always support any decisions that are made.
I pray that next year will be better & that our players will stay healthy!

Well, they played well yesterday, for what it is worth. I'm not really sure who I want to see stay or go, but I know that we do need to make some changes! Infact, the only person I would be upset to see go, for sure is Mark Ellis! We all know that Todd & CarGo will definately be here next year. We seriously need relief & a 3rd baseman!
BTW: for what it is worth, Money Ball is a good movie, if you haven't seen it, check it out. Though my son told me that it doesn't follow the book, it's still a good movie.

It has been a very disappointing season; especially after the great start they had in April. Hopefully some good house cleaning will happen and they will be ready to play all 162 games next season!

Well, Rockies fans, the season is rapping up. It is especially hard, because I REALLY wanted to go to the World Series in honor of my Step Dad who died in March, the last thing I said to him is that he, my son & I would be watching the Rockies in the World Series together. Next year, that HAVE to do it, because that will be my son's last year working there! If I have to go up there & have a chat with those players I will & trust me, I'm a Momma Lion, I will kick some player booty if they sluff of next year like they did this year!
I think that has been the most disappointing fact, we have players who can play better than they did this year! To be honest, last night I was thinking that there are only a handful of guys on the field I would be sad to loose on the off season! And one of them was my son! Don't get me started on the pitchers! Without naming names, there are some that really need to hit the street! Maybe, a career change as a cook! I am impressed by some of the young guys that were brought up the end of the year!
So, anyway, if there are any challenges or games that any of you want to suggest to keep this team active during the off season, please, let me know!

Has anyone else noticed that we only get to watch a Rockies game every other day? It always seems like once football season starts, the Rockies games are less important to the powers that be! Even when the games matter! Root sports needs to change this next year, it is frustrating! I can't imagine if a Bronco's game weren't televised! Even Nuggets games are all televised here, if something else is scheduled for Altitude, they show it on one of the open cable channels!

Okay, last night wasn't so great. Millwood's hitting was awsome, though!
I, too, was very upset about Ubaldo, but then I heard a little of the "inside" info about him, which actually made me a bit disappointed in him & I understood why the front office did what they did. (Sometimes, I'm told things I'd rather NOT know, though!) I hate saying that I'm already looking forward to next year, but I really think that if we get a decent 3rd baseman & some decent pitching over the off season, we could do good next year. There are some young guys that show a lot of promise.

It was a very close game.. we would get 2, they would get 2... until the 9th inning, where it was 6-6. We won in the 10th inning, bases loaded, with a wild pitch. It was great.

My computer crashed early last week so have been MIA for awhile...but that didn't stop me from watching the Rocks.......
And I agree with all you just said.......I know, for a fact, that if I was hit like Juan was I'd have trouble facing another batter......I just hope that he will be able to have a good life ahead of him and if it's with baseball, that to me would indeed be a miracle. But Miracles DO happen. I thank God that they do.
I'm praying that with the visit from Juan and the awesome win last night, that the team just might be revitalized and finish the season with respect.

That homerun was AWSOME! Something about them coming down here, seems to inspire them! (except, Ian, I can't explain what is going on with him). Guys come down to the Springs for a few games & seem to return with renewed pep! Guess it is the Colorado Springs magic we brew here, lol!

I saw the same video and cried as well. That was so horrible to watch when that happened. I'm so thankful that he is recovering as fast as it appears. If he'll pitch again is immaterial, as long as he recovers to a good quality of life, which I hope will include getting back into baseball.

It was SO AWSOME to see video of Juan @ Coors field today, in the locker room! I was SO happy I actually cried! I really pray he has a full recover!
I did actually hear some news about why the Rockies traded Ubaldo & have realized that it was probably the right choice, believe it or not!

Lol! one reason I'm not married, no one could endure me while watching sports! I drive my sons CRAZY! and last year, I would call my mom when our closer would mess up & rant. I could hear my stepdad in the background correcting me & arguing with me, just like my boys do now. I miss him....I really hoped that we could go to the World Series this year for my step dad who passed away in March. But, there is always next year & when we go, I know that he will be in Heaven cheering with me!
Anyway, (silly me getting side tracked by that) my son said that O'Dowd has said that anyone that is upset about the Ubaldo trade can call him, personally & he will explain it. I actually would, but I think O'Dowd has had a restraining order against me since 1999, I won't go into the details (teehee) but, it had to do with keeping Walker...don't ask.

My hubby was getting angry at the bullpen management, but honestly he just doesn't understand that part of the game.. lol Hopefully tonight we can get a win and actually sweep a team this year??? I mean wow to get two wins in a row... imagine three... ohhh the excitement!!

Last night's game was a roller coaster... pretty good all in all.. Hammel just about drives me nuts though... when he is good he is good and when he is off he is terrible..

I did read the update that Jim said yesterday... apparently he was up and walking on his own a little bit and was excited that he was going to the restroom by himself.. Such a sad thing to think about.. Hopefully everyday just gets better!

I don't know if you got the update yet. Juan fractured his C1 vertibra & had to have pins put in. Also, I believe Keith said that he had to have a plate put in his head. Strangely, it wasn't the hit from the ball that did the most damage, but when he fell, he fell on his head & that's what fractured the vertebra. I will learn more when I see my son on Wednsday. I'm going to find out how to get "Get Well" cards to him also.

Hi... What a very crazy weekend for the ROX... Juan's injury litteraly made me sick... I was so upset and am having a hard time shaking that image from my mind... I keep trying to find out updates on his condition... We lost yesterday and hopefully can get something going in Cincy... Hammel on the hill so not so sure about that..

Sorry, I have no idea if we won last night, I was out & tried to watch the rebroadcast, but fell asleep.
I do want to say, if you haven't please, keep Juan in your prayers, that was a terrible injury & in the real world career ending! Keith Dugger's face didn't seem optimistic when he spoke of the future for Juan, but I'm sure if all the fans pray, miracles can happen. He has such a promising career!
What really hit me is it happened almost 5 years to the day since Michael Coolbaugh got hit & died! Mike was a friend of mine, so this was especially jarring for me. But, luckly, Juan's wasn't AS serious.
Hopefully, today we have a good game & I'm able to relax & watch it!

There was a Ronald Coleman marathon on TCM all day yesterday, I'm CRAZY about Ronald Coleman (is it weird to have a crush on a man that probably died before I was born?). So, I actually decided to watch "Tale of Two Cities" and "Random Harvest" instead of the Rockies! It shocked me, too! But, I kind of feel like, if they don't care, why do I? Though I know I will be watching tonight, I still, for the 1st time since there have been Rockies, have a bit of a bad attitude! I am glad they won, though!

Last night's game wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst... however I did shut the TV off in the 9th after two outs and the runs coming across.. WTH

Nice to see some offense and hopefully that will continue tonight!

I am with you COOL. I hate to watch the expressions on the guys faces. You know they aren't having a good time. What your son says doesn't surprise me at all. But I'll still watch "My Guys" win or loose as long as my DH doesn't mind.

I talked to my son today, he said the even the players see the season as over. He told me that there is a quote by Tulo saying, "At least, now we can have fun & just play baseball." I'm not sure how I feel about that! My son even said that it is sad, that before they weren't having fun! Maybe, that is the problem! Maybe, it is better when we are expected to loose & have a great season, then when we are expected to win & loose!
Oh well, try as I may, to get over them & walk away, I still love my Rockies.

COOL sure hit the nail on the head as far as I feel...I couldn't have said it better.......

The Nationals are here now, so shall watch for awhile until DH gets really agitated...then will switch to something else. I sure hope that won't happen.

Good Morning!! Not really sure how I feel today about the team and I was thankful that yesterday was an afternoon game so I could have an enjoyable evening.. lol How very sad...

So the Nationals have a better record then we do... hmmm that is terrible terrible

This has been the the most disappointed I've been in the Rockies. The worst part is that all of our players, by themselves are great players!(okay, some of the pitchers that aren't awsome....) our Skipper is one of the best, seriously, there isn't any reason we aren't winning, NONE.
(sorry, got a bit distracted, Hammel is starting today & my head spun around, again...thank God we kept him & got rid of Ubaldo!) There is something missing! Like leadership or drive or heart or something, that we had at the beginning of the year that is missing!
there is an upside, we've gotten 4 runs off of Halliday so far today, but then again, Hammel is pitching....

Teriible Terrible and Terrible...

I had a hard time making dinner due to me just getting pissed!! UGGHHHHH

Well maybe we can get to 55 wins by the end of the season... How did we start out so strong and just crumble... YUCK

How sad I don't even give them enough credit to win four more games by the end of the season... jeepers.. I am sad!!

THank Heaven that I am not the only one around Colorado that has nightmares about the team. My DH said that last night I woke him up yelling something about the Rockies.
Oh Well, I guess we all are a bit upset with the trade and the fact that a certain closer is still with the team.......Guess I'll watch something else tonight and just take sneak peeks at the game....Doubt that will happen till the 9th inning though.
