I love her workouts also. Try to do one every day but that never happens. Still always at least three times a week.

11,500 steps so far today!
Hubby is working late so I took a walk to a local sub shop. I bought dinner for me and lunch for him tomorrow so he won't have to pack one later. Then I walked myself to the park for a picnic by the pond it was beautiful!

that is a creative way to get in some extra walking. Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job with getting 10k, you are way ahead of me, I do well to get 5k! I am working on getting a mini walk in during my lunch break, instead of working thru it! It is easier said than done, as o driven to work while at work.

been doing ok on the walking, manage to get at least 10K steps or more every day, sometimes it is hard on my last night of work because I sleep during the day and only stay awake for a while in the evening and go back to bed. Now I try to go for a walk cross country to investigate parts of my property, helps on the sleep thing too.

Not much happening in our world right now. I am trying to catch up but there is a lot going on in our family. HUGS Pat in MAINE.

AMY I have not heard from anyone in a while. I know we will be going to the gardens very soon. DH and I are trying to get the raking done but the rain has cramped our plans. I am still busy with senior college and there is only one more week and the course is done.

Good Job Jessie!

The family play place sounds like a great idea, maybe you are on to something! When my children were little, we used outdoor parks as there were not many indoor play places then. They had the big old metal slides, and I was able to use it, as well as the swings. I am sure I have dated myself by now!

It is so wonder to set an active example for your children. Keep up the good work!

I did! I did about 15 min of cardio type pilates. I took my kid to a new indoor play place. I really wish someone would come up with a playground that adults and kids can both play on, so that when my son goes down the slide and then says "it's your turn momma!" I don't have to tell him that I don't fit.

Great to see some activity in this thread.
I have begun walking outside this month, not that I don't need ice cleats to stay on my feet!

I am interested in hearing more about the hula hooping NANBENT. What kind of hoop do you have? Do you use a video? Take a class?

I found it to be harder than it looks, and much harder than it was when I was 12!

Keep moving folks, I think our weather is finally going to be in our favor!

I did hula hoop, that was interesting to say the least emoticon ...it is too wet and too much dirt on the street for cycling yet but I'm getting anxious and we just got Kyla a new Giant so we'll be hitting the railbed as soon as it dries up a bit.

30 minutes of fitness. Took two 15 minute walks. It was very cold. The second walk, I stopped back at the house after 7 minutes to change from gloves to mittens. NOTHING will stop me from doing this! emoticon

yes, though not as much as I had intended - the heat drove me and Marcy back inside today, usually we walk 60 to 90 minutes; barely did 15 mins today before we had to turn back, the humidity was outrageous today and they say it'll be worse tomorrow! iky!

yes I had a great workout at the gym today. I did 30 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of weight lifting. I kind of over did it. I pulled a muscle and am now in quite a bit of pain.

hey yeah grrl !!! sounds lilke you are off to a great start.

I got in a seated upper body sp video , and 30 minute Leslie Sansone walking video. this morn . Any one know of a good place to snow shoe near Raymond?

Hiker san you are right on about the 10 minute goal. I started that in January and it just seems after I do the 10 minutes I am so psyched from meeting a goal I just want to do another 10 and by the end of the week my exercise tracker is saying ok better increase tracker goals to and increase the food tracker. SO I keep going up and down on the tracker goals to meet what I have been doing for exercise so the nutrition matches .. DOes that make sense to anyone but me emoticon ?

Great job on exercising! It is so difficult to get moving if exercise has not been a way of life. I would like to offer a word of caution though . . . . Please do not hold yourself to 45 minutes of exercise every day, or even 3 times a week. While that might be a great goal for the future, I think it is lofty as you begin. It is better to focus on smaller amounts of time, and make it a solid habit, than to aim for longer sessions and not be able to maintain the habit.

I personally love SparkPeople's 10 minutes a day plan, as everyone can find 10 minutes to exercise. Once people get moving, they might feel like doing 15, 30, or even more, and that is fine!

All I am saying is to allow yourself the 10 minutes and feel just as good about yourself, as if you had done 45 minutes. There will be days that thinking in those terms will be valuable.

Hope this makes sense! May dancing always make your heart happy!

This is the first day I have exercised in years. I did 45 minutes of Just Dance 2 on the Kinect using the "Sweat" playlist. I broke a sweat within 10 minutes and just kept on going. Loved every minute of it!

If the only downside to losing weight is that I'll need new clothes, I'm good. :D

No workout for me today. I feel lousy. Toast for breakfast, no lunch. Back to bed for the afternoon. This will end with end eventually with a take-out Chinese order - I can feel it coming on. Happens every time! Ah well, I tried. There needs to be a "shrug" icon!

Tuesday Crossfit workout - phew this one was a killer for me today.

Strength work - Deadlifts. PR'd (personal record) at 135 lbs 3 reps. Previously had lifted 125lbs one rep.

METCON: 3 rounds for time:
400m run
25 kettlebell swings
50 back step lunges
75 Mountain climbers

My time 25:12. Slow and steady. Had some good support with a couple ladies getting down on the mat to push me through to finish my last 75 climbers when I thought I was going to die. Kept thinking of the show Biggest Loser and telling myself I could do it. A good workout.

Monday workout - Crossfit gym - Strength training - Front squats 5-5-5-3-3-3 at 75% of max 1 rep max. I topped out at 75#. My max is 93lbs single. Could have done more weight but found I started to lose form and lean forward on the 3rd rep so didn't go up in weight. Really working hard on technique and form. METCON - 7 mins as many rounds as possible - 15 box jumps, 10 burpees, 5 pullups. Only finished 2 complete rounds plus 15 box jumps and 10 burpees. Didn't have much "gas" in the tank so slower than usual on the movements. Still it was a good workout and got me sweating bullets.

Back to the gym tomorrow.

metaleer - great job on the exercise. Stacking wood and PX90 will burn some calories. Glad your daughter is doing this too. It helps to have a buddy.

Great to see your post! Sounds like you are feeling the rewards of success, feeling better about yourself! It is wonderful that your daughter is doing this with you. It is never too late to set an example for our children!

We heat with wood also, and it is great exercise!

Keep up the good work, and let us know how you are doing! Looks like you have been with SparkPeople for a while, and this is your first post! Congrats! Keep posting!

Trying to average 1 hour every other day splitting and stacking wood. On the days off riding the exercise bike at least 5 miles and P90X. Losing weight and feeling a lot better about myself. My daughter also is doing Sparkpeople and Zumba. Looking for others in the Warren, Maine area.

Going to crossfit gym still. Last week only 3 mornings, giving my back a rest on Tuesday where it was a little sore from Mondays workout.

Friday - "annie" 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 - doubleunders and situps (double unders are jump-rope where the rope passes under twice with one jump. I still cannot do these so the adaption is to triple the jumps as single unders) AFter completing "annie" rest for 4 minutes then 3 rounds of walking lunges with weight held overhead, and 20 pushups.

Plan for this week is to go Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Back to crossfit gym and workout today - Monday. Great start to the week. Looking at this workout didn't think I could finish is in the 30 minutes alloted. Felt great when I finished it in 26:10. Helped one of the girls finish who was going to quit. Think seeing me plug along helped her push through and complete the workout. Told her "we can do this, on rep at a time".
Strength training - Overhead Squats - managed 35 pds in reps of 5-5-5-3-3-3.

Medabolic conditioning workout - 3 rounds for time, carrying 15lb weight for every movement - penalty if you drop the weight. 400m run, 25 squats, 25 push-ups (weight set down as you start and chest to weight on ground each push-up), 25 walking lunges, 25 situps (wt held to your chest). It was a doozy and I was sweating bullets by the time I finished.

Continuing with my Crossfit workouts here in FL. This week I will be going Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanksgiving they are closed and then only one workout time on Friday at 9:30. Depending on plans with hubby I may opt to go for a bike ride or walk that day instead. Keep moving.

Workout today - 3 rounds for time: 400 m run, 20 burpees, 15 snatches (lifting). My time was 24:00 mins. I was dripping when I finished, it busted my butt. Still happy to finish and know that is how I'll see success on the scales.

My crossfit workout today:

Strength training - Hang cleans/ squats. Reps of 3-3-3-1-1-1. I was able to do 65 pds.

Workout - 3 rounds for time; 250 meter run, 21 kettlebell swings, 15 pull-ups. My time was 12:09 to finish. I can not do pull-ups so the modification is to do jumping pull-ups where you jump up to pull up to the bar. Kettlebells I used the 15 # weight. Need to up the weight but when I tried the 25 lb it was too heavy and I didn't have good control. Wish there was a 20lb kettlebel to progress up too.

Tomorrow no gym workout, it's ladies golf day. I look forward to seeing some of my friends from last year.

Thursday's workout:

Skill work on Turkish sit-ups (you hold a weight straight up with one arm when laying on back. from there you manuever to a standing position and back down - swap weights and repeat on other side.) We did 4 rounds of 2. I did half with a 10pd weight then couldn't manuever self up out of kneeling position while holding weight overhead so last 2 rounds did without any weight.

Metcon (medibolic conditioning) - 3 rounds for as many reps as possible; 1 min jumprope, 1 min rest, 1 min burpees, 1 min rest, 1 min box jumps. (the jump rope was supposed to be double unders - two spins of rope with one jump - but I can't do those so I do single unders. The box jump for me was 12", others do 24" box. someday I'll work up to jumping that high from flat footed)

Felt good to be back in gym this morning. Will go again Friday and then play it by ear for Monday. With it being a veteran holiday they always do special workouts in honor of our servicemen and women. Usually really hard ones. STill it's good to push myself.

Hanging in with my Crossfit workouts.

Yesterday was a strength workout with 12 Kettlebell goodmornings & as many ring push-ups as you can without breaking, rest 60 secs for 3 rounds. I could not do a ring push-up, I'd get down then couldn't brace the rings enough to push myself back up. Found out later I needed to keep my arms at my side --- next time. The medabolic conditioning workout was: 5 rounds for time; 15 hand release pushups, 20 wall balls, 25 situps. My time was 17:10.

Today we worked on skills of "L" pull-ups. Where I can't do a pull-up I worked on bringing knees to belly then extending them out as straight as I could and shrug as if I was doing a pull-up. Strength training we did, power cleans (taking weight from floor to your chest. My max weight was 68 - same as last time. Arms tired from yesterday so no extra strength to snap the weights up. Medabolic conditioning - 3 rounds for time; 7 power cleans, 14 pull-ups. my time 6:10. I do modified jump pull-up.

Feeling good to get the workout done early in the morning. I'll be missing my workout friends when I go south next week. My goal is to keep going to a gym down south and come back in the spring 20 pds lighter and twice as strong.
