I am using food one and not the one that you buy in the garden shop, seems that the one that is for contractors is more strong than what you buy in the grocery store. Seen that on 'Growing a greener world" They come on public tv. It has some good shows on about the garden and organic stuff.

That is good---I know what you mean about weeds---I plan on using it next spring in the alleyway behind our property---we are the only ones maintaining that area behind our house---but we really appreciated the city coming thru and cutting the area back so we actually pull up these invasive things and hoping the vinegar will actually kill them off but not hurt the vegetation we like back there.

My concern with using it in a garden bed is does it make the soil too acidic for the flowers or veggies?

I tried acv but that did not work but then again my late husband was spraying it with weed killer and the weeds got agressive and I saw the white vinegar on youtube and he used white and it does work, I used straight vinegar on them. Need to get more and hit it again.

I got some vinegar (white) and sprayed the flower bed but only had enough to do half and it shows. Done it Saturday and the weeds are dieing now. Will have to get more and hit the rests and do the other side again. That white vinegar works great!!

Tell her that I am praying for her and know what she will be going through since I had my knee done in 2009. Best thing that I did and now there is no pain in that knee. Just follow what the doctor says and the pt person too.

The place is a flower bed and it is big to do that so I use a sprayer and coat it heavy the weeds are smaller but will have to hit it again now that I got more ACV to do it better. Did get rid of the fire ant hills with that stuff that is natural and is real good too but have to treat it until they get it to all the ants

Hope Joy is fine and what type of surgery is she having?

mixed with the detergent I think you should see something in 24 hours ... I tried it in our driveway and found that rather than spraying it on ... it was best to pour it over the weeds. By the next day most of the weeds were dead. (can't remember if you were supposed to add salt also)

Buy a gallon of cheap vinegar, add a few T. of Dawn dish soap (guess any dish soap would work), and spray or pour it over the weeds. Gone by morning...and safe for the environment. I'm going to get some vinegar when I leave the house, and do mine later today. Pickie says it works better than anything she's ever used, and several others on that team have done it, and now swear by it. Safe around pets and kids too....

Had one in our back yard and they are sneaky and don't leave any prints but you can catch them with a cage and that way you will find out if it is a critter or human

I guess I figured the tomato thief had to be human ... there was no sign of anyone/thing having been anywhere near the plant ... no rumpled leaves, no broken branches, nothing laying around the area ... the tomatoes were deep in the plant so I thought there should be some sign if a critter got at them!!

Squirrels will eat then and so will racoons along with armadillo too. Not sure where you live but here in Florida we do have armadillos here and they will eat them and some birds will eat them too but they can't take them away like the other ones.

I posted the pics of my tomato plants a couple days ago ... even with all the rain I had to water today ... lots of tomatoes starting on my cherry ... not as many coming on my bigger tomatoes, however ... there are lots of flowers, and I hesitate to dig through the bushes to see what I have coming for fear I'll break a branch or knock some starters off.

Just hope my tomato thief doesn't get them when they start to ripen ... still haven't figured out who/what took my 3 ripe ones off the patio pot! My deck is 2 feet off the ground, and the pot sets on a stand another 6 inches above that. If a raccoon got to them I would have expected to see leaves lying around on the deck since one of the tomatoes was buried in the middle of the plant. I thought the neighbors kids (they are fascinated by my flowers and plants (mom doesn't grow anything). The boys are little enough that they would have had a problem getting them without breaking a branch or knocking leaves off too.

Mine are not coming on strong either and taking forever to ripen because of all this rain. But at least I am not having to water them.

Nice that you are getting fruit without doing any work this year.
I will be picking my first cucumber today and wishing the tomatoes would hurry up and ripen---LOL--watch them all turn red at once!

Did not plant this year because of the loss of my husband and grieving for him but did have a tomato plant grow on its own and am getting fresh tomatoes now.

It will not die if you cut the tops and then take out the little suckers that grow but do not produce any fruit..You can tell because they grow in the joint of the stem and the leaf and they suck out the nutrients to the plant and the fruit

I THINK THEY WILL BE ALRIGHT IF YOU PINCH THEM BACK WHERE THE BRANCHING OFF STARTS----START SMALL AND DO THAT TO AN OFFSHOOT OF WHAT YOU WANT TO TAKE OFF TO SEE HOW IT GOES.

They do like water---the drought the past few summers have been really hard on them. I think this is true of the magnolia trees---they are really blooming right now.

My hydrangea shrubs are going to be amazing this year. The wet winter caused a growing frenzy. The color is just starting to appear.

My garden is doing pretty well----planted some mini pepper plants that I started as seeds but not checked to see how they did with all the rain we have the end of last week---hoping they survived. And trying out the new container corn ---they are coming along nicely and hope they turn out well.

Looking forward to Spring for gardening purposes but I don't want to rush into it or my summer will be way too hot again. Happy New Year!
