Sheri- Wow- your excitement is getting me closer to boarding the smartphone train. The PUSH book I'm reading also REALLY loves smartphones. Chalene pushes them hard, but I've just not figured out a way to get it into my budget at this point in time... however, sounds like it might be worth it. *sigh* Researching may be happening soon.

The next challenge starts Feb. 1st. We decided that this year we would do monthly challenges, to help us keep on track and keep track of the start days. No wishy-washy maybe this or maybe that. We're gonna try that for now, and if we hate it, we can change it. :)

Okay- think happy thoughts- I'm going to record an audition to a big company in STL tonight! Yikes!

Hey girls!!! Awesome week 3 starting up. I am psyched and just pushing forward the way I always do lol balls to the wall (what does that mean?!?!) until I burn out?? I have met all of my goals every week which is great for me!

I know I have said it before but myfitnesspal.com is AWESOME!!! The app has a scanner and I log EVERYTHING I eat! It tells you your net calories when you work out and I have started logging ahead to see how I can adjust my calories so I can get the most from food lol I loveeee it. I have a PB sandwich, scan the bread package and the PB package. Drink a glass of milk I scan the milk, I make dinner I scan everything I am putting in my recipe and divide it into servings. Bang, it tells me all the nutritional info and how many calories the serving is. It's just too easy to keep track of calories with this. I know you don't have a smartphone that takes apps but the database is impressively stacked. TRY IT!!!

I burned 940 calories working out and know that I still have 1000 after I ate all day. I am supposed to eat back those workout calories which is always hard to do lol and you can add people who share their food diaries. Enough sales pitch lol I love it!

I cannot wait to hear about pole dancing lessons - that is going to be so interesting and hard work!!
Wow wedding planning, Nicole! That sounds like so much fun! How long will school run for? Sledding must have fun! I can't stand this cold weather!! 5 degrees this morning!

When does this challenge end? I am already looking forward to working on some new goals but wonder if I should keep these goals a little longer!

Nicole- That is GREAT! I'm so excited for you and for your business. Awesome! :) And whoo hoo for sledding! The way I see it- if it's going to be cold, there should be snow, and if there's snow it should be good snow so you can play in it! Sounds like fun.

So, I signed up for the pole dancing class... well, I actually bought five classes, but I'm only signed up for one so far... and that's next weekend! Yikes! I'm excited. I'm trying to be positive about making progress, but it's difficult. I backslid so badly last year after all the life crap happened, and now I'm afraid I won't be able to get back to where I was. I honestly don't even remember what I was doing that brought about those results! I was doing TurboFire, yes... but other than that. Have my eating habbits gotten so awful that that's why I've gained the weight? Hmmm... I guess it's time to analyze what's going on.

I'm going to a Hip-Hop class this afternoon. OH! I know something I need to do. I need to use my HRM to actually track the calories burned. Maybe I'm not burning enough in these classes (I've only taken one all week that I actually liked). Well, it's a place to start at any rate- AND... of course (DUH), I need to track my calories acurately. Okay. That's starting RIGHT NOW. Here I go!

hey girls!
i got in some exercise this weekend... without even trying lol... on friday it was snowing so we went sledding/ it was too bad to drive so we walked and then running up the hill a few times.... i was exausted. then yesterday i shoveled snow. omg i think my shoulders are broken!

erin i have no clue how that posted twice. i did it from my phone so maybe my phone is wacky. I am going to go with fairytale weddings eventually, for now to keep stuff simple im just doing weddings by nicole. i found a great mentor and she is totally helping me out. you should totally do the pole dancing class i did it once and had blast

sherri i am totally into wedding school. i just started begining of jan and im already half way thru. i have a long way to go in the business building aspect tho, alot of work and hoops to jump thru.

alright i need to do some laundry talk to you soon.

Nicole- Hmmm... Confusing. I got the same post from you twice! Hope all is going well!

Sherri- PUSH is the book Chalene Johnson wrote that just came out last November. Chalene is my fitness BFF ;) (She's the one who created TurboJam, TurboKick, TurboFire, ChaLEAN Extreme, PiYo, Hip Hop Hustle... just to name a few), and the one I'm always quoting. So far I LOOOOVE it. It's already helped me see one of my biggest weaknesses and knowing is half the battle, right?

Last night the Zumba class was not so great, I actually came back to the hotel and did TurboFire 15 minute HIIT. I'm going to try a different Zumba class tonight with a different teacher and I hear it's CRAZY intense. So... here's a shot.

Nicole, sounds like you are completely immersed with wedding school? I think I missed When you started! Good for you :)))) you must be feeling great right noe with your weight coming down and it sounds like things are really productive over there!!!

Erin, the tour sounds like a lot of fun :))) I would love to do something like that! Such a good idea with the trial gym classes and I would so LOVE to take pole dancing class! The muscle working during one of those work outs has got to be intense!! What is PUSH?

Today I did an hour of step/sculpt and an hour of Zumba. I needed it after I took the kids (and babysitting kids) on a play date with a friend to mcDonalds. 920 calories for lunch of incredibly garbagey food. Ugh!! I am doing great logging calories and drinking my water and feel great!! Tomorrow is kick/sculpt and I will do maybe a half hour on the treadmill :))

Can't wait to hear how you all did!

Sherri, glad to c ur back and also starting off with a bang!

My working out at this time is non existant. I'm super focused on school and getting some weddings to plan. Also getting my house done so I can have an office. I'm 1/3 of the way done with school, and need to choose a name for my business, rite now I'm between dream day weddings and fairy tale weddings. Nothings for sure yet but thats what I'm working with. Which do u guys like better? This week I'm going to really work on the living room and by feb at least work out once a week.

Sherri- Thanks for the info about net calories. I mean, it's something that I "knew" but not something I've thought about for a while... so it's good to hear/read it again. Last year when I finally started losing weight it was when I was eating more. Hmm... something to consider as I get myself back on track. The lines were for the show that we begin performing tomorrow. I'm touring with NTC again, and we're in the Carolina's doing a show about energy, renewable resources, and water conservation for elementary school kids. It's hilarious and totally fun!

Nicole- I like Fairy Tale Weddings better. I just feel like if I was to get married it would be wonderful like a fairy tale... and not like a dream I might wake up from. Hmmm... maybe I'm over thinking it, but that is my gut instinct. Good luck with the house, I know it will be great when it's done!

As for me- I started PUSH yesterday, and I'll be doing day 2 today. Can't wait. I feel like this is going to help get me going in the right direction as well. I also just signed up for a trial membership at a gym here in SC since we'll be here for a week and a half. So... here's to that! Also, we're going to be in Charlotte for several weeks end of Jan/beginning of Feb... and today on living social there is a $25 voucher for five pole dancing classes... I might do it. I promised myself I would try some different new workouts this year... and that's def different and new!

Okay- now to actually do my day two and get my workout in. Happy Monday all!

Thanks Erin! I just realized I messed up my net calories yesterday (posted all the important info I got on the weightloss fb page - let me still see if I have it in my paste:


"Just for everyone's posterity, here's a little tid bit on how the net calories work.

I'm sharing because I didn't know and now that I do I figured a common post would be good.

When you sign up with MFP and choose how much weight you want to lose weather 1, 1.5, or 2lbs a week you are given a calorie goal to meet. When I signed up I was given a goal of 1510 per day to lose 1lb a week. That means for me to lose weight by diet alone I only need to consume 1510 calories.

I go to the gym a few times a week and burn 550 calories, If I've only consumed 1200 calories I now have a surplus, and my net calories consumed is 600ish.

What does that mean? According to what I have found out you need to eat back your workout calories until you meet the minimum 1200 calories for the day. My understanding is to not eat back those calories could cause starvation mode or metabolism issues

Does that make sense?"


SOOOOOO I wasnt eating enough!! MFP = myfitnesspal. I am hoping to do better this week! I only managed to eat the appropriate calories the two days I didn't work out!!

Erin, what are your lines you are rehearsing? Sounds like an adventure! You also sound like you are doing really well with working out. I love the classes. I have NEVER done them so its an all new experience! :)

Sherri- Great job! Sounds like you are really getting things rolling. I'm starting up, slowly buy surely. Went to a step class last week... didn't love that much at all. But hey! You gotta try things to find what you like, right? It may have been the instructor too... don't know. Also did a turbo class (which was fun! I've never been to just a regular class before!) as well as a yoga class. I did a lot of walking last week as well... which was new for me... i've never been a big walker- but I needed to work on my lines as it was rehearsal week- so I spent that time walking on the treadmill while i was working. It was a great way to get some movement in during any otherwise crazy week. So... that's good.
As for now, I need to get back on track, but my right knee is super sore. I only did about half of my workout today, because it started hurting so bad. Might have something to do with the two full days of driving (Minneapolis to North Carolina....). I'm going to go wander around an outlet mall for a little now, if nothing else, to try and see if stretching it does any good. We're in my tour partner's home town, so she's staying at her apartment and hanging with her friends this weekend... seems like this may be a pretty normal thing. Hmmm... oh well, that will give me a lot of time to work on "me" over the next 9 weeks.

Hi Ladies!

Well, I got the first week under my belt. I have been so sore all week doing Zumba, Kick, Turbo, and Spinning and it's kicked my ass! I finally took today off and my arms feel so much better lol Going to do a Zumba class tomorrow morning! I feel really good! How are you all doing? Everyone sticking to their habits? I drank my water faithfully, tracked my calories and worked out so week 1 was a success. College starts back up next week so we will see how things roll with the added work :( Ugh! I hope it's a smooth transition!

Great to see you again! I've been slacking bad too lately. I've got a whole bucket of excuses, but that's exactly what they are- excuses.

How do you like the Y? I've heard they have a travelers pass or something like that? I've been thinking about looking into that. I LOVE actually taking classes, but with the traveling, it's really difficult. Of course I love my DVDs, but going to a class with other people there is so much more amazing.

I worked on my lines while on the treadmill today, so that was great. It was as "much" as I normally would have liked- but I wore my HRM and burned 385 calories, so I can't complain. I could have just been laying in bed working on lines, right? Which... might be what I do here in a minute. Oy! Crazy rehearsal week this week, then hitting the road on our way to the Carolinas.

Hi Ladies!
I am trying to get back into the swing of thigns again :) How are you all!?

Erin, I see you on FB :) I have been super sick/blech/depressed about being fatty lol trying to get back on track with the working out. I realized that I was completely bored with the treadmill and need to try other stuff so I joined the Y and I have taken 3 classes this week. Hoping to really get into the swing of things and push it up a couple of notches by February! I am in a group called Body 4 Life with a couple of ladies if you would like to join. Just figured I would throw that out there if you were interested.

Nicole, your weight loss is dramatic and awesome!! You must feel so awesome :) Keep up the good work! I see that Android users can now add friends and stuff on Myfitnesspal - hope to see you back on there soon! I use that app plenty when I am exercising and that's why I have been MIA here. If SparkPeople could make an app like that OMG I would love it!!

Miss you ladies! I'm doing my 3 goals are:

Work out at LEAST 4x a week
Drink 8 cups of water
Calorie Count!

Nicole- My sister is doing fine. She's out of the hospital and almost back to normal. The audition is a huge audition (hopefully at least 80 companies), so keep your fingers crossed!
AHHH!!!! Wedding planning school!!! You'll have to tell me all about it! I'm super jealous right now, that is SO EXCITING!!!
Your goals are AWESOME! I'm so proud of you. You look like you are totall in control right now. I agree that you need to get things organized and other things will fall into place... Chalene does too ;)
I've gotten off track, and as I have time, I'll try to do my best to catch you up on the craziness, but right now, I really just want to get back to my "basic" on track.

As for my January goals:

8 glasses of water each day
Start PUSH book program- do each day
4-5 fruits/veggies each day

Okay, getting back on track. Here we go.

Ok I have sum goals for 2012. I'm going to list them all and then list what I'm going to focus on for the month to get to my overall goals. Rite now I'm not super focused on working out I am focused on getting my life in order so working out will fall more into place. I know my goals maybe changing as I go but this is what I got rite now. If I wait til I have it perfect I'll never be done so lets get started.
nicole' s 2012 goals
Finish remodeling house, except kitchen
Get house ocd organized
Have a 30 inch stomach
Figure out fitness plan
Have at least 2 clients in the books
Spend more quality time w my hubby
Go on honeymoon
Get out if debt save money
Whole family eat better

goals for jan
Sand first section of floor
Organize 2 sections of basement
Finish first 5 sections of school -I'm done w 2 already!
Create generic business cards
Take a bubble bath w chris once a week- week one check
Cook a full healthy dinner once a week and eat it at the dining room table-week one check

Now I will have to check the list and make sure I'm on track!

erin- omg im sorry to hear about ur sister being sick, is she better now? id she home? im sure you will be ready for the audition, what is it for?? thanks for starting the challenge i like the one month thing. 21 days goes by to fast! i do need to think of some goals but i will have to get back to that, im supposed to be cleaning and i got side tracked. so the wedding was alot of fun. i really just got to watch but she had me doing small stuff for her. she was super sweet and teaching me a lot of stuff. ive decided im definatly doing the wedding planning school and hopefully will be starting by the end of this week?? im excited and i think im nervous to, like am i crazy or can i really do it? guess theres only one way to find out right?

Hey Team!

It's the time of year when we're ready to make goals and resolutions to make ourselves better. But guess what?!?! We've got a leg up on a lot of people, because we know it doesn't happen overnight. We have to break our goals down- and get there little by little. So here we go... first step- January. Feel free to break down your yearly goals and start with something small. It's the beginning of a new year, the beginning of new friendships, and the beginning of a new you!
