Hi Everyone!
I'm on my work computer so I can't open more than one window... but I wanted to say hello!
Dawn- I'm happy to see you posting! We miss you! :(
I've been super busy with school work so I can relate Amber... spark is a nice break though :) I had an exam today, but now that it is over, the rest of this week will give me time to breathe. My friends want me to go out tonight for Mardi Gras, but depending on what time I get out of work I would really like to go to the gym today.
I haven't posted my measurements ETC because I realized that last time I didn't post them until Wednesday. I want to be accurate with the 21 days :)
Can't wait to start TOMORROW :)
Are we posting new Stats in a new forum or are we just updating the ones we have... I think it might be less confusing if we do a new one just because a lot of people started the challenge and didn't end up finishing with us :(
Hopefully this time more finish the challenge, but I like our group of actives, I feel like we've all gotten to know each other pretty well :)
Have a good day everyone!

Okay, So I know we're in "between," but I thought I'd say hi anyway! So... HI!
Amber- I know how you feel about the weight, I'm frustrated myself... I'm just trying to tell myself I was bloated... bleh.
Dawn- Yikes! Hope your feet feel better... or all that walking won't be fun. I'm super jealous! Have fun!
After posting last night I sat down and really thought about my what I wanted to do for my goals, reflecting over the last challenge and some other things I've been thinking about... and I'm really excited about them (it's in my "balance" blog)! I'm actually going to start gearing up today (why not?). I've made myself a check-off calendar, and I'm ready to go!
So anyway, just a quick hello to everyone, Happy "Fat Tuesday!" (let's try not to take it too literally) or more commonly known as Mardi Gras!

Hello from FREEEZING ORLANDO!!! WTH is this weather you got goin on down her Amber???!? Actually yesterdaty was great, hit 70 so Shane and I stayed at the pool all day! Forgot to put sunscreen on the tops of my feet tho!Ouch! I think walking in socks and tennis shoes may be a little painful today.
I think we are heading to Universal today and then Seaworld tomorrow.Hope for a drive to Cape Canavral on Thursday then home Friday. We saw Avatar in 3D last night and OMG!WOW!Loved it from start to finish. Daytona 500 was an awesome experience! We didnt stick out the whole delay tho.Figures we leave after waiting and hour and 45 minutes....then they restart as we are walking out! Oh well-listened to in the car. Eating this week has, well, sucked. I'm making the most of the buffets or all-u-can-eat places my husband is so fond of. I haven't eaten anywhere near as much or as bad as I did in the past, but can feel I'm not eating 'good'. Ok-Moms gotta hop in the shower since I take the longest to get ready! These boys are ready to hit the park! Oh yeah, been taking my vitamins and drinking water with every meal...not cleaning any rooms nightly cuz I'm on vacation and we have housekeeping!!! LOL!

Hey everybody! Okay I can't read everyone's posts right now, but I will on Wednesday after my chem exam! Orrr I might do it when I'm desperate for a study break :) Just wanted to post something since it's the end of our first challenge...I weighed in at 165.0 today which sucks bc I'm even MORE up, but oh well. I've got lots of plans to change my eating habits and I'm really excited about them! I'm not getting down, I'm not giving up. I will do this. I didn't do the measurements yet, but honestly, they probably didn't change much, if at all. I'll try to do them tonight though just to check :) Hope everyone's getting ready for round #2 and I will try to catch up tonight when I need a break!
xoxo ~Amber

Julie- (yay for finally remembering your name!) I'm glad you're feeling better! I got some Jillian DVDs for Christams, but haven't tried them yet... I'll be adding them into my rotation this week... as part of a goal (OMG... I hope Chalene doesn't think I'm cheating on her...), so we'll have to chat! Also, I agree about the yoga, I like different types depending on my mood.
Steph- I open a second window- it makes posting and replying SO much easier! =) As for the Splenda- it depends on what you're sweetening... try honey (even good in coffee), or agave necter. Yum. YAY roller skating! I'm jealous!
Amber- Tried the Neti Pot this morning... and although strange, I think I liked it... question mark? I'll have to give it a go a couple more times before I know for sure... I still feel "runny," but the pressure is gone... YAY!
Evie- I Love, Love, LOVED the movie! Of course, I'm a Disney Geek... but it was AMAZING!!! Darker than some that they've done lately, but still awesome! Breakfast is an AWESOME goal... You should do it. Breakfast is super important (if you need ideas, we can SO help! =)
Nicole- I put together a basic "document" that has serving sizes (ish) for Fruits and veggies... I'll sparkmail it to you! It's from a bunch of different sources, but hopefully it'll at least be a guide.
Rachel- When I'm having sinus issues I tend to workout- but lower key than normal. I find if I go as hard as normal I end up feeling worse, but if I at least do a workout of some sort it's better than not. Also, while I'm working out I gage how I feel, try to "check-in" with my body more often. I don't know if that helps or not... hopefully so!
Dawn- Hope you had fun! Miss you!
So... I didn't do the chocolate thing yesterday... I guess it helps to not like Valentine's Day (my BF didn't even mention it... he's been trained well ;) However, I was up in my measurements, but not in my weight. I'm trying not to let it freak me out, because it was about a consistent .25" in my "bloat" areas, and this is the TOM for bloating (ya know)... normally I try not to measure the day before I start, but, well... end of challenge. But yay for not gaining any weight. Hopefully my inches will be back to "normal" for the start of the new challenge on Wednesday! YAY! Can't wait. So, I've seriously been thinking about my goals... and my life in general, and I've realized I need more balance in my life. SO... I'm trying to make goals to make me more balanced. One will be to do at least one new DVD every week of the goal. I got a Jillian Michaels Set for Christmas and haven't tried any yet (granted, I had just bought myself a couple new DVDs, so I've been working them all in gradually... I just started with Chalene first...
Other than that, I'm not sure yet... I'll be doing some hardcore reflecting tomorrow, though so I'll have them by Wednesday.
Oh, and BTW... WE DID IT!!!

Julie I feel your pain -- my sinus c rap has gotten steadily worse! I kept it pretty low key as well this weekend (read -- I did no work and pretty much stayed on the couch) and I STILL feel burned out. That Moroccan restaurant sounds like soooo much fun. I know you typically eat Moroccan with your hands but how did you eat the stew?? Did you just slurp from the bowl?
Steph I gave up Splenda awhile back and it really was one of the best things I have ever done health=wise. I like what Amber said about deciding what you REALLY need/want sugar on. The two biggest things I did were switch off of Splenda'd yogurt and stop putting it in tea. For yogurt I originally switched to regular yogurt (I LOVE Rachel's Yogurts, esp. Plum Honey Lavendar) but now I eat plain yogurt drizzled with Agave. It takes getting used to but once you ARE used to it you can't hardly eat sugar-sweetened yogurt. And for putting it in tea/coffee I switched to real sugar and try to only use 1 teaspoon/cup...it's like 16 calories. Also...do you roller skate often?? Having roller skating birthday parties was a big deal when I was little and I have often thought I might like to get some roller blades for exercise but I haven't skated in YEARS.
Haha thanks Amber! OMFG I HATE stupid nasal spray but I was desperate so I bought some...it gives me a headache...and hurts. But it kind of helps so whatev. I don't normally have sinus issues, no, but this has been killer. What did the allergist say you were officially alergic to btw? I just ask because I had a friend who went and she came back basically allergic to EVERYTHING. She didn't give it all up because it would have been soooo limiting.
Oh and there are TONS of running trails in Boston so YES!!!!
Alright so I weighed in a 156.8 which SUCKS ...but my measurements were good! I didn't go up anywhere and I went down a couple of places, specifically my ribcage (chest), hips, and thighs. Now if I could just continue to lose in those places, add in waist and butt, and freaking lose WEIGHT this next go-around...I would be a very happy camper. :)
Question all you sinus-addled friends -- when you feel like this to you find working out helps or hinders?? Because I didn't work out yesterday and I only ran Saturday. I just feel worn out, partially because I am not sleeping well (hello, mouth breathing) and partially because I am sick but I KNOW I need to exercise. Soooo....what do you guys think?? I have a bag packed for the gym tonight and part of me wants to go and be intense and the other part of me just wants to go home and lie on the couch.
Thoughts? xoxo RMS

good morning girls!!
so i weighed my self this am and to my surprize i was down to 158.2, not a huge loss but its something... i thought i would be up since i was bbaaad this weekend... i didnt really eat bad but i didnt work out at all :( i seriously got on the scale like 5 times this am bc couldnt beleive my eyes lol!! but it was true, this actually give me 10x more motovation bc if i can do this and i didnt work out enough what can i do if i bust my butt?!?!? well we will find out with this new challenge bc thats exactly what i am going to do!!! i didnt measure yet i will after work but im not expecting to much.
it waries how many veggies i eat... i am a salad FREAK (w light dressing of course) there have been days where i have eaten 2 and a half heads of lettuce!
so what counts a serving thou? like a bowl of salad is a serving?? or like i eat these del monte fruit cups and it says it has 2 serving of 1/2 cup in it so would that be 2 servings?? just trying to get an idea so i can set a reasonable goal? im thinking like 5?? isnt that the reccommened amount or something??
since everyones loving yoga im gona jump on the bandwagon and add that to my goals and say running once per week and yoga once per week and see if i can learn to love it as much as you all do! but i wont be in a class (i dont have a gym membership) i do have some yoga on my wii game tho and i have done it twice so far... its ok but i dont feel like i burn any calories and im such a klutz its funny when i try to be graceful!
Toodle- i hope u feel better soon, the only thing i have tried of jillians in on demand but she kicks my butt!!
Amber- i wish i had a treadmil or even an elpitical machine... if i did i could watch tv and work out for hours on end! ill just have to hope i can do it once a week at least for now, the weather will just have to cooperate with me!!
evie- thanks for your well wishes for my step daughter and friend drama... i am getting over it and focusing on me... i dont need any negatives in my life if im try to be all healthy and positive so as much as it sucks thats just how it is i guess.
dawn- i miss you! hope you had fun at daytona! i was watching it and thinking of you im glad they finished the race but i felt so bad for everyone there waiting over 2 hours total for a pot hole!! i actually got to watch the whole thing (im not to happy about what happend to my poor kc)
well i hope everyone has a wonderful monday and i can wait to start our new challenge!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
I can't believe tomorrow is the end of our challenge! I'm excited to see the measurement results- I am okay with my weight loss.. I'm just hoping I don't go up between today and tomorrow. I didn't make it to my 10 lb by valentine's goal... but I got 5? so that's something I guess.
Steph- I used to sometimes open another window, but I write it all out in text edit and then paste it into the window when I'm done. BTW- I meant to say something before but I hope your husband is doing okay! Roller Skating... I haven't done that in years.. I really want to go ice skating- I'm going to try to find someone to go with sometime this week!
Nicole, I totally understand how you're feeling about your friend. My best friend lives in texas, I've seen her for about 3 hours in the past year... she never comes home now and it sucks... even when I call her she doesn't always return my phone calls. Then sometimes she'll comment on my facebook status and act all pissed that she doesn't know what's going on in my life. I hope your step-daughter is okay! And don't let the friend thing keep you down- Just think about how great you've been doing over the past 3 weeks! :) I like your goal of upping the water intake though! My friend has just started putting a full pitcher in her fridge every night and making it her goal to drink the whole thing by the end of the day. Your TV goal is a really good one too. I can't count how many times I've decided to wait until after a TV show to work out and then not gone- (and I don't even watch tv that much)
Amber- I already told you this but I really like your dessert goal. I think I slacked off a bit in terms of my goals too, and I think Toodle's idea to mark it on a calendar might help us be more diligent with that.
Erin- That's so exciting that you have a bunch of auditions coming up. That'd be nice if you were able to be near your grandma for a summer :) Good luck on all of them! Ughh pasta is a killer in terms of calories- I've noticed that even the whole wheat kind isn't that much lower in terms of calories. How was the princess and the frog? I kind of want to see it! I LOVE the dollar theaterrrrr
Dawn- I miss you- I just thought I'd say that. And I really like your marble idea. I might try something similar if I find some marbles next time I'm at the dollar store :) I hope you're having an amazing time in Florida! I'm glad to hear that the 90 min yoga class went well (I think I already said that on SSY)
Rachel- Great job with the running! :) and Wow on the 5100 calories. That's impressive!!! And I think that the vegan meal goal will be really good- esp since you're starting small :)
Toodle- I've tried a Jillian workout on OnDemand, it was a good cardio workout but I forget which one it was! I've never had Moroccan food... Now I kind of want to try it! Good job on passing up the movie theater snacks! I saw 3 movies this weekend and took a special k bar to snack on :) I really like your calendar idea. I think I might do that too that way I'll be able to really keep track of my goals.
I went to the gym today- half an hour on the elliptical and then some stair master :) Tomorrow I'm doing weight training with my trainer- but I think I'm going to try to get up early and do some cardio before. I slack off on the cardio when I have training session set up because I'm already so beat by the end of the session.
I haven't really watched the Olympics too much, a classmate of mine is there interning with NBC- she's going to have some exciting stories to share with us. I feel terrible about the accident though. So sad :(
I was telling Amber and Rachel that I'm thinking of making one of my goals about doing weight training 3x instead of 2x per week.. and then maybe my 2nd goal about getting some variety into my workout (trying a different class each week). As I was writing this I thought of my third possible goal- Eating Breakfast! I am soooo bad about eating breakfast that should be something I get better about.
Wow This may be the longest post ever. I hadn't posted in a few days so I wanted to catch up / respond to everyone. I can't believe this is it for round 1! Time flies!
Have a good night everyone!

:) I just wanted to comment on all the yoga posts!!
Yay for everyone doing yoga!! I love it too!! And when I first started I was awful and awkward and completely unflexible. But you can still breath and focus on yourself and feel awesome about detoxing and stretching and strength training. Over time, you will be amazed at how much more flexible you get - but its always still challenging.
I try to go once or twice a week - but you ladies are right it is a big time commitment. 90 minute class and the drive there and back and a shower is about a 2 hour activity. I find it hard to make time for that when I can go for a 30 minute run and be done with the exercise. But then I miss the flexibility and the relaxation...
And all the instructors are different - there are definitely ones I like and ones I do not. Some of them talk all the time, and some of them just give instructions... find one you like and stick with them!
Also, try different types of yoga - there are slow ones and fast ones and ones where you hold the poses and flowing ones - and depending on my mood/energy level I always have a different favorite.

Rach, AWESOME job running 21.5 minutes straight!! I love how you included the .5 lol...I'm the same way. I count every second and every step lol. omg that is a crazy number of calories to burn in a week! Oh and Neti Pots are waaaay more effective than a spray..but it's a pain in the butt and if you normally don't have sinus problems, it's probably not worth it.
Thanks, Erin! And that's so funny you said the "don't worry about what everyone else is doing" bc at one point the instructor was like "and we're not going to focus on other people and what they can do with THEIR bodies, we're going to focus on what we can do with our OWN bodies and be happy with where we are." And I was like...1)I for sure need to remember that and 2)it's SO true and applies to way more than just yoga! Maybe you have some sort of seasonal allergies? You could go to an allergist like I did and get pricked with like 70 different needles and see which ones swell up! ...it's super fun. haha. And ummmm yes I'm SUPER jealous about you going to the Olympics!!! Volleyball would have been amazing and soccer would have also been awesome to see too.
Nicole those sound like great goals so far...do you have a treadmill somewhere you could run on?? I know it's not as fun, but it'll suck if there's horrible weather all week and you can't run.
Rachel, I just realized that we could possibly be running the streets of Boston together in a few months eeeeeee!! :D ...I wonder if there are paths along the Charles River Basin..bet that would be pretty.
Erin, can't wait to hear how you like the Neti Pot..it might feel pretty weird at first, but you get used to it. Oh and yay for being sore..don't you love that feeling?!
Toodle, hope you feel better soon! Sounds like the cold is on the way out already so that's good. I've never tried Jillian's DVD's but I tried one of her books one time and liked the workout a lot..very intense, so I'm sure her DVD's are the same way. Ooo Moroccan food sounds exciting. And I'm glad Valentine's Day (the movie) was good..I want to see it. Yep, the new challenge starts Wednesday...Rachel or I will make new message boards for the new round on Tuesday probably, so it'll pretty much the same as the first time.
Aw Steph, I haven't roller skated in forever, that must've been fun. Yea I just open a second tab, and reply in one tab while reading the posts in the other tab. Great job on that healthy snack! Your goals sound good...I suggest using small amounts of sugar, but only on foods you REALLY want it on. Do you really need everything to be sweeter? Know what I mean? Also, it'll definitely take an adjustment period because Splenda is like 1000x sweeter than sugar or something, but if you give it time I think the taste of the real stuff will grow on you. (My mom is the same way...she. loves. Splenda. And her name is Linda so she's always like "Splenda for Linda!" hahaha...but she uses sugar now, so it IS possible to give it up.)
I've been thinking about my goals...I think they're mostly (or all) going to focus on food. One is definitely going to be limiting my sugar intake, but not quite sure yet. Any ideas? I'm thinking x number of calories of dark chocolate per day, or only have dessert every other day. We'll see. I think I'm also going to make one of them to have 1-2 fruits/veggies with every meal/snack. Might do one to plan and track all of my food ahead of time, but not sure yet. I also need to be more diligent with filling out my calendar...I made one this time, but would only fill it out every 2 or 3 days and I'd have to go back and think of which goals I met every day. I also need to take it more seriously!! I don't know about you guys...during the first week I was reeeally trying to meet every goal, every day. And then as it went on I slowly started forgetting about my goals more and more, or not caring. Like it would be almost bedtime and I'd be like "eh, whatever" instead of really trying to get to bed sooner. I know it sounds bad, but I'm just being honest lol. So this time around, I'm really going to make more of an effort to stick to my goals each and every day.
Okay well hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!! :)
xoxo ~Amber

Good Evening ladies!!
So, tomorrow we are checking in!! I'm fairly excited, but a little cautious...today was Valentine's and of course I had some chocolate!! . I didn't have much, I think it was 260 calories. I did burn almost 800 roller skating today so I didn't go over calories, still nervous. Haha!!
How do you girls post while still being able to see all the other posts? Do you open a second window?
Toodle, I have not seen a Jillian DVD, but I have used her Wii game and wasn't that impressed...that's just me.
Nicole, so sorry about your friend drama. I'll be thinking of you and hope it works out.
Dawn, miss you already! Hope you are having fun and can't wait to see how your trip went.
All of you who are sick please feel better soon!! I hate being sick and it's not fun to be on top of what you eat when all you want is comfort food!
Like I mentioned I did roller skate today, but still had pizza for supper and a little bit of chocolate. Right now I have munchies so I'm eating carrots!!
I've been thinking about my next three goals. I know what one of them is for sure...giving up Splenda. Now, that's huge, no HUGE for me! I use Splenda on everything!! If you have some pointers for me I would LOVE them. I know I can't give up sugar so I have to use it in moderation, but still watch my calorie intake. I don't like what Splenda does to my body. My second goal is to up my fruit and veggie intake. I'm slowly changing the way I eat and it's exciting for me! My third goal is up in the air. I think it should be something about exercise so I have to think about it a little more. I'm pumped for Wednesday!!
Since tomorrow morning is crazy busy for me, I might not post till the afternoon. I will weigh and measure in the morning though. Can't wait!!
Night everyone...chat tomorrow!!

Hi Everyone! It's great to see you all active on the posting!! It's definitely very motivating!!
I am still suffering from this awful cold - but now it's just mainly coughing, the rest of symptoms have disappeared! So this week, hopefully, I'll be back in action at the gym and with cardio :) I have also heard great things about neti-pots but I've never tried them - i think i would recover much faster if i could at least breath through my nose - makes sleeping much easier!!
WOW is right- way to go with the calorie burning!! That is very impressive ..5100!! :) I agree though that circuit training with weights keeps your HR up and then you can work multiple groups without completely resting - its awesome when you are strapped for time!
I'm borrowing a Jillian Micheals DVD from a friend - anyone tried these? thoughts?
This weekend, I didn't exercise - I kept it pretty low key as I am trying to recover, and I didn't go over my calories - although I was at the upper end of the range. Usually, on the weekends I go over - so I was pretty darn excited for myself! I went out for Moroccan food for the first time - and they washed our hands at our table, and we ate with our fingers, and it was delicious! And I'm not really sure how healthy it was - but it was basically a think chicken stew with vegetables, so it couldn't have been that bad! I also saw valentine's day, the movie, and it was soo cute!! And I didn't even cave and eat theatre popcorn - I saw the stats on that once and I cringed.. the sodium and fat are unbelievable compared to regular air-popped popcorn.
I am also a huge olympics fan!! I really enjoyed the opening ceremonies :) Go Canada Go!
So we are starting the next 21 day challenge on Wed? How do we join? I am still debating on goals - this time I'm going to make them a bit more specific and perhaps create a calendar and check off if I met them...
I can't believe it's already been 21 days (well tomorrow morning)! Way to go ladies!!

Nicole- I agree with Rachel- try upping your fruit/veggies by two. It's crazy how hard it is at first... and how easy later on! I am SO glad I did the fruit/veggie thing this time around. I started paying attention to it at the end of Dec and relaized sometimes I ate like... one or two servings! Yikes! Now 5 is normally super easy and I find myself with more often! Also, I don't see why the TV rule can't be a goal! Something like that isn't easy, especially if you're used to watching right after work.
Rachel- Gotcha. Yeah, I guess I normally eat on the lower calorie end, so perhaps my burn is okay (spark has actually told me I might want to adjust my calorie intake because my calorie burn is high??? I don't know... I'm seriously considering a HRM as soon as I get a job!)
So I was seriously inner-theigh sore from the plyos yesterday... so a short pilates session and some major stretching was so perfect today. It was a nice "rest" day, but I'm back on tomorrow. I've been thinking a lot about my goals lately, and I'm not exactly sure. This time around I just kind of put down some things I was working on (and it worked!), but I want to put some more thought into this time around... Hmmm... more on that later!
Amber- I bought a Neti Pot today... going to open it and check it out as soon as I post!

Haha Erin I STILL feel like that with Yoga some days. As for working out -- I DO burn a lot of calories but I eat a lot too....trying to tip towards less calories in obviously. As for workouts it depends -- I USED to try to keep it to an hour 5-6 days a week, but I got so into yoga and strength that I wasn't doing enough cardio so now I do something like this. 3 days a week 30 min. strength with 30-60 minutes of cardio (aim for 45, but if I can do more I do), yoga 1-2x a week (usually one), one long cardio day (60 minutes or so), and I recently started running 3x a week. My cardio is REALLY vigorous though -- usually intervals on the stairmonster on level 8 or 9, or intervals biking/elliptical. And I do circuit training strength so my HR stays cardio level the whole time.
Nicole good job upping your water goal -- pretty soon you will be wondering how you drank less than 8-10 a day! How many fruits/veggies are you eating now a day? I would aim for like, 2 more servings/day than you are getting. I also like the no TV before exercise rule -- that is great!

good morning girls!! thanks for all your support in the sucky friend dept... i have to remember everyone goes thru it!
erin your right it totally helps to come here and talk to you guys, you all seem like awesome girls and i wish we werent all spread around the country!!
i do have 2 of my goals so far... 6 waters per day ( i did 4 this time so im upping it) running once a week (im slowing trying to incorporate it and with chicago weather once a week could be a challenge bc you never know when it will snow, i will also gradually increase this every new cycle) and i duno about my 3rd one yet. i have a few in mind... eating X amount of fruits/veggies i just dont know the correct # to aim for, i also like dawns goal of cleaning something everyday.... and im making a 'rule' for my self, No tv (except for general hospital bc we watch that while we eat) after work until i have worked out!! to many times that darn tv as sucked me in!! i am open to suggestions for a 3rd goal, whats everyone else thinking of? i might borrow an idea from you guys, you all are doing so well
i hope everyone has a wonderful valentines days

Amber-don't stress about not getting better with the yoga. It will take time, and even so you'll have days where you feel like you could takle anything, and days where you can't even get yourself into a warrior pose. So... just breathe through it, and try to not worry about what everyone else is doing around you. (I know that's MY biggest problem... I want to be perfect... but it isn't going to happen overnight!) I may have to check out those sinus things... last year around this time I got really sick and the doctor said it was sinusitis... I wonder if I have an allergy related cause? I mostly wonder because it was the EXACT time last year that I got sick. Anyway, if I can prevent it from getting full-blown by using something like that- I'll have to check it out! Thanks!
I HEART the Olympics. My Dad has always been obessed, and as a kid, that's the only time I really remember him watching TV. We had a TV in the house, but we never really watched it much (other than Saturday morning cartoons!), however... during the Olympics it rarely turned off. We went to the Olympics when they were in Atlanta (1996?) and saw soccer, volleyball (Amber, be jealous!), and a baseball game. It was awesome. Step, I'm sure you're feeling the rush just being that close!
Rachel- Holy cow calorie burn! Maybe THAT's why I'm not loosing any weight... my calorie burn isn't NEARLY that much. How long do you normally spend working out?
Today is going to be a busy day, so I wanted to check-in early. I'll squeeze some sort of work-out in tonight... even if it's only a short pilates session. I've been working out practically every day (okay, I missed last Sunday...), so a short session would probably be good for me.
Hope everyone has a great day! Happy Sunday! xoxo

Steph I bet that IS pretty cool to see the Olympics since you are from there. I don't usually watch but a few summers ago we were in Trafalgar Square for the opening ceremonies. Even though the Olympics weren't THERE (though the city was in complete construction mode for 2012!) it was soooo incredible to be in this giant place with so many different nationalities cheering. They did a huge movie screen and broadcasted everything.
I DID run this morning -- 21.5 minutes straight. :) And I somehow burned 5100 cals this week with exercise...I have also eaten plenty though. I know two of my three goals -- run at least 3x each week in addition to regular cardio and eat 1 vegan meal a day for the first week, two a day for the last two weeks.
I have never tried a Neti Pot but I never liked any of the nasal sprays...I felt like they didn't help. I am definitely stopping at the store tonight to buy some more medicine though!
xoxo RMS

Dawn, cute idea!
Nicole, I'm sorry about the friend drama..that stuff can definitely be emotionally draining, so great job on even keeping up with the bare minimum :) I hope you guys work it out soon.
Erin, I have tried many of the sinus rinses since I have sinusitis...the "nasal mist" is like a tiny bottle and that can help a little if you don't have that much of a problem with your sinuses..it's pretty low pressure. The Neti Pot and the Nasal/Sinus Rinses are amazing...the Neti Pot is really gentle but very effective, the Nasal/Sinus Rinse is the bigger bottle that you squeeze and it's higher pressure. I use both of them every day...doctor's orders :\ It can be a pain in the butt, but it really makes a big difference. Way to go with that plyo workout...I need to start doing that again, esp since I'm back to playing volleyball. Hope you have fun at the movie! :)
This morning I did the 90 min yoga class which was great. At first I thought the lady was really annoying, but then her style (kind of) grew on me. Felt so good to go again but I haven't really improved since last week lol. Then I took my dog for a really long walk and measured it out when I got back and we went 3.3 miles! :) Alright well have a great evening/night everyone!

OMGoodness! So, I wasn't able to get on yesterday and HELLO behind on boardposts!
Amber- I'm glad your vitamins disovle! LOL! I had a nutritianist tell me once that there are several that don't disolve... well, fast enough at any rate. So better in than out? (Hmmm.. thank you backwards Shrek) Long Yoga classes are awesome. Sometimes it's hard to "give" yourself that time, but if you can... do it! You'll love it. I've got several auditions coming up... one of them is a conference call that will have 30ish companies there... I'm not exactly sure who will be there, but it's always good to be seen by as many people as possible. I'm also doing an auditon for a theme park in KC, because my grandma lives there, and even though it would only be a summer gig, it would be good for my Grandma to have SOME family around for a little while. A couple others as well... so we shall see! YAY on your running! That's awesome. I've also been above on my calories lately, which is weird because before I've been on the lower end of my range... I guess too much pasta... IDK.
Dawn- So, as I'm writing this I realize you're gone. (sad face), but I hope you're having fun!!! As for looking at the old posts, I always open a new tab next to the one I'm reading and go to the same page and hit reply! That way I can read and go back and respond at the same time! And go you for the comment and baggy clothes! AWESOME! LOL!!! I freaking LOVE Your marbles idea! I may have to figure something like that out... hmm... I wonder if I can make a marble picture on Word or something (since I travel... it would be so easier if my marbles were virtual... LOL... loosing my virtual marbles...)
Rachel- I also like Tylenol sinus. But I've heard a lot about nettie pots and things like that. I've been thinking about getting one to try... anyone used one before? I guess it would be a lot like the spray... which is a great idea as well!
Steph- You are going to LOVE measuring. Seriously... it saves my life (or at least my self-esteem). I've found sometimes even though the scale is up or at the same place, the measurements are down... and that's what REALLY want now, right? Weight is well and good... but the meaurements... that's progress!
Toodle- Feel better girl! Don't worry about not getting your strength in while you're sick... you'll have time when you get better!
Evie- Sorry about the snow day make-ups =( But at least you got SNOW! (and a couple days off)
Nicole- I'm sorry about your drama. That sucks. As cliche as it sounds, everything will work out for the best, it may not be easy... but it will. Remember, we're here for you- it's not the same, but I find it helps. Have you got your goals for the next 21 days planned?
Well, I did a plyometrics-ish workout this morning, and my tushy is already sore... so it's going to be a fun day tomorrow, I can tell! BUT... Dan is going with me to see "The Princess and the Frog" this afternoon at the $1 theatre.. I'm PSYCHED (I'm such a Disney dork... I love it). So... I have to get ready now! YAY!
Happy Weekend all! xoxo

Quick post just because I had to share with you guys: While I was packing, I came across an old weight loss 'visual' I used to use. I called it 'LOSING MY MARBLES'!!! HA! What I did was bought a whole bunch of marbles at the $ store and put them into a jar- 1 marble for each pound I weighed. Then I had an empty jar next to it. Each time I lost a pound, I'd move a marble from the full jar to the empty one! See!
Now, who wants to LOSE THEIR MARBLES!?!??!!?!??

Rachel, okay I'll do a run tomorrow too...probably just a short one before or after yoga, but I'll do one. Hope your sinuses cleared up...did you try to any of the ones I suggested, or did you just deal with it? lol.
Evie, good job on the workout and yay for learning how to set up the spin bike! :) That sucks that you have to make up the snow days...hope you got the letters of rec stuff done.
Toodle, sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon!
Dawn, hope you have a safe trip and have a blast!
I ate pretty healthy today..as for exercise I just ran 1.5 miles with my dog...I would've done more but it got dark. Oh well at least I did something! Tomorrow morning is yoga so I'm excited...need to figure out when I'm going to study...but I REALLY don't want haha. Hope you all have a great weekend planned! :)

Thanks for the tip on posting Evie! I'm doing it right now! LOL! Very cool! Great work out with your trainer! I just looked at the exercise of the day on here -partner tricep toss with exercise ball. I am so going to do that with my son!
We leave in the morning and will back home Friday afternoon. Weather doesn't look like it will be too warm tho, but I guess going from our recent teens-30s, 55-65 degrees will feel WONDERFUL!!! I am looking forward to some outside activity!
Stephanie I noticed your ticker moved down girl! That is awesome!
Toodle-I hope you feel better soon!
Nicole I¡¦ll give Kasey a big kiss for you if I see him!!!
Rachael-holy crow! 1250 calories is fantastic!!! Way to go!! I hope your town recovered from the snow and the gyms opened back up!
Erin-hope you are having a wonderful day!!
I am hoping to weigh and do my 21 day measure before we leave in the morning. Try to get a quick post in too.
Off to pack! Yeah, I'm a little last minute!!!

It's Friday!!!
It's so encouraging to read every one's posts!! I plan on doing some weight training tonight and maybe the treadmill. Anyone watching the Olympics? I'm from BC so it's pretty cool they are in my home province! Anyway, I should run while I watch that tonight. I think that would great motivation...seeing all those great athletes!
Who's excited to weigh and measure on Monday? I actually am. I've never measured before so I'm interested to see if there is a change...I always go by the scale.
Well, I need to go get supper in the oven. Everyone have a great weekend doing whatever you are doing!! Chat on Monday! Steph

Ooh :) Yay for trips! Have fun in Florida Dawn!!
Lots of crazy weather out there - stay warm ladies :)
I know it sounds gross, but I usually use a saline nasal spray - it moisturizes your nose, cleans out your sinuses and doesn't have chemicals in it.. feel better soon!!
I have now been sick all week - and aside from walking for 30 minutes a day have too busy coughing and sleeping to exercise!! I hate not exercising because when I start back up I have to back-track which is frustrating, plus, the scale numbers do not go down :( Oh well, next week hopefully I'll be back in action and can give'er a little harder! ...needless to say my sleeping goal has been going great - my strength training goal is seriously suffering!
Keep up the great work over the weekend everyone! Stay strong and make good choices - we can do this!!

Hey Ladies (pretty sure it's all girls posting! lol )
I have a few minutes before I head back out to run tons of errands so I figured that I would pop on here and post something!
I just got home from the gym- did a warm up 15 on the elliptical, then I did an arms workout- mostly triceps with my trainer. Then we had about 5 min left so we went into the bike room and she taught me how to set up my spin bike to fit me right. :) she taught me some positions too so I think Monday we're going to do that again for the last few minutes :) I'm working my way up!
Dawn- a solution I have to not being able to see everyone's posts is writing it all out in Text Edit and then pasting it in. That way I'm not opening a new window to see who said what. We will miss you while you are in Florida :( How long will you be gone for?
Rachel- There's a tylenol sinus that comes in a package with half day ( non-drowsy) half nighttime pills. It really helps me!
Wow Amber- 90 min yoga! That sounds long but I'm sure it'll be a great workout loll. Congrats on running that much yesterday! I've been slacking off on running but I think I'm going to start up on running intervals again next week!
My best friend is in Ft. Worth and it's snowing there too! They had classes cancelled- Oh oh! WE HAVE TO MAKE UP OUR SNOW DAYS! Stupid stupid stupid. I'm so so mad about that!
Alright wellllll I have to go drop a bunch of letters of rec. forms off all around town so I hope to read more from you guys later today!

Lol yeah I just yoga in the middle of the weight room...I used to not feel comfortable doing it but now that I have done yoga for awhile my sun salutations are pretty legit. :)
And I'M SORRY about the run! I woke up and I was soooooo tired...my body mainly. Then I texted you and then I took yoda outside. When we FINALLY came back in I was super hungry and hadn't heard back so I just ate breakfast. Then couldn't run because I had just had breakfast lol. I WILL run tomorrow before training I promise promise promise.
90 minute yoga GEEZ!!!! I think it will be fun though. :) I am super sinusy today -- I don't feel bad I am just congested. Anyone have a favorite Sinus medicine (non-drowsy!) that clears all that up?
xoxo RMS

Dawn, you must've felt so great when you got that comment! I love when others start noticing all the hard work you've been doing. And yay about the pants fitting better! Oh..and I am the best in-my-car singer imaginable :) I like your new goals, when are you leaving for Florida?
Rach, great job on that AMAZING workout...1250 cals burned is so hardcore lol. I was wondering this last time you said it but..when you do sun salutations, do you just do them like out in the open in the weight room?? I'm not good enough at yoga yet to feel comfortable putting my yoga poses on display for all to see LOL.
p.s. "I am going to run in the morning :)" LIES! LIES I tell you!! lol. As long as you run tomorrow you'll still reach the "I'll run 2 out of the next 3 days" goal :) I'm going to try to run today..my legs were feeling pretty good when I woke up so I'm happy about that, but they might feel like jello if I try to run again lol. We'll see, but I'm def going to do some sort of exercise. Sadly I missed yoga this morning, but they have a 90 min class (yikes) tomorrow so I'm DEF going to that! Okay well have a great Friday everybody :)

Ummm it DOESN'T snow in Shreveport! We are actually considered Sub-tropical. Bbbbut every once in a while we get a freak "snowstorm" and have a few inches stick...but the entire town shuts down. It started snowing this morning around 8 AM and by three there was a light coverage (1" or so) on the ground, and if you car had been in the elements all day it had a few inches. They closed the schools at noon and no school tomorrow...even the private gyms aren't opening until later! Mine had a big sign that said "The gym will not be opening tomorrow until 8 AM due to inclement weather...and this is subject to change so call before you come." My mom's gym on the other side of town isn't opening until NOON! It is kind of ridiculous.
WAY TO GO with that awesome comment aaaand your capris fitting better. I can think of nothing more satisfying than loose clothes. I love your new challenges too -- especially the cleaning one.
Amber as I've told you (and freaking call me back Holmes!) AWESOME job on the running! So So so so so proud of you.
I had a good gym workout today -- 97 minutes, 1243 cals! I did 45 min. stairmaster, 20 min. running, 30 weights, and a few sun salutations. Since my school job and nannying are both cancelled tomorrow and I will be at the same workplace all day (GASP! lol) I am going to run in the morning. :)

Hello! Thanks for all the support and ideas about getting out of this rut. I wont give up! Especially since I had such a GREAT day! This morning when I walked into work, an employee (who happens to be a gym rat and in super shape!) said HOLY CROW! YOU LOOK GREAT!YOU BEEN WORKING OUT?? WooHoo!! Then I was packing for our trip and tried on some capris that were super tight towards the end of the summer..........they aint tight no more!!! Holla! I am so excited! I am going to keep on with what I'm doing and add some strength (take advantage of that cool weight machine my husband has in the basement!)
Amber-FANFREAKINGTASTIC job running 4 miles!!!! That is great! You're like the Energizer Bunny!!
Erin-I so wish I could sing. I was singing to my husband on the phone tonight and he said he had to hang up-I was hurting his ears! Oh well, we all sound great in our cars, right??? :) I hope you do beat that cold!
Rachael-I didn't know it snowed down where you are either! Your bike sounds fabulous! Perfect for school!
Stephanie, Toodle, Evie and anyone else ( I really wish we could see all the old posts when we posted!) I hope you all are doing well!
Since I don't know if I will be able to log on while we're on vacation, I added my next 3 challenges to my signature. I may not be posting, but I'll be starting the new challenge when you do! WE can do it!

Rach, awesome job running!! For some reason I didn't even know it snowed in Shreveport lol.
And yea, those are the wrist exercises I was talking about..well when I was at the PT clinic over the summer, I did them all four ways with 3-5 pound free weights when I was playing tennis bc my wrists were SO weak.
Erin, glad to hear you're feeling better. What are you auditioning for?? Good job on the exercise and woohoo taxes are done! That's always a relief.
So guess what? My vitamins dissolve! hahaha. I had it sitting in a glass of water on the counter, my mom was like "what IS this???" and almost poured it out, I was like "NO!! I'm seeing if our vitamins dissolve!" and I started swirling it around and examining it..and she goes "ummm your stomach has hydrochloric acid in it, I'm pretty sure it will dissolve that" LOL. I was like "wellll I just wanted to see" haha.
Guess what else?! ummmm (somehow) I just ran 4.15 miles straight!!!! I SERIOUSLY almost stopped at 3 miles and then I was like, I'll go a little further...okay I'm close to 40 min, I'll just run for 40 minutes straight...alright well I'm so close to 4 miles I'm just gonna keep running..and I did! :) Now I'm icing my ankles and knees now haha. But yea I'm really happy I went and turned my attitude around bc I pigged out today (why the eff do I keep doing this to myself??!)...I'm making a running plan tonight with goals and stuff so hopefully that'll be motivating. Also doing yoga tomorrow morning woohoo! And I need to start picking out GOOD goals for round #2 that will be really effective. Okay well I'll tty guys later! :)

Thanks everyone for the support. I SOOOOO needed it yesterday. And for the sick advise. I'm downing as much hot tea and water as I can... and I'm feeling pretty "okay" right now... so that's good. I've got about a week until the 'big' audition (there will be somewhere between 30-50 companies there), so hopefully by then I'll be all good.
Dawn- Yup, "break a leg" is the appropriate thing to say for any "luck" situations in the theatre (if you're theatre superstitious "good luck" is actually bad luck! It's a good thing I'm not supersititious because I have a lot of non-theatre friends ;)
Toodle- I agree with the rest... I need to check out that monkey bread. Yummy... I may have to try it soon...
Stephanie- I LOVE bike riding... I miss having a bike like crazy. When I was working in RI last year, the company had a couple of company bikes, and I road them all the time in the summer. (Crazy me thought it was a gread idea to ride my bike to ballet... to was easy I was fresh and it was mostly downhill... the from ballet back home... was rough!) I keep telling myself the next time I'm in a location for a while, I'm buying one (crosses fingers for awesome job in one location for a little while... and spring!) Yuck about the ER... I hate the ER so much... but I'm glad everyone is okay (everyone is okay... right?)
Rachel- are we talking like canned veggies? Or empty cans? That's a good idea... I'll have to give it a try.
Nicole- you are so right. One day at a time.
So I did strength and abs today... and my taxes! I feel so freaking accomplished! There's something about getting that done that is so... well, awesome! And BONUS, I got the BF's taxes done too... so I don't have to listen to him stress about it either. Yay! I'm doing a pretty good job on eating today, but I think I'm overdoing the carbs... I was REALLY low at the beginning of the month all month, and now I think I'm over compensating. I'm still in my range... but I try to stay on the low-end anyway... I feel like my body doesn't process carbs well... at least, it seems like: More carbs = More weight.

Oh for wrist exercises try lifting cans with just your wrist...like flexing your wrist up and down? We used to do it a lot in tumbling and it really helped!
Ooooh I g2 run today too Amber! It is my heavy gym day anyways so I think I might go to my real gym (5 min. from work) and do my regular workout then stop at Centenary on my way home and run the indoor track because it. is. COLD. And wet. And snowing LOL.

Erin, I haven't got sick enough to need cough drops in awhile..I do like Cold-Eeze though. Definitely soothing without having that awful medicine taste like Halls and Robitussin blegh I refuse to eat those lol. Also, my miracle trick for when I'm starting to get sick is zinc pills! Just take one a day and it almost always helps ward off a cold...if it's too late and it's already a full-blown cold, zinc should still help you get better a little faster :) I'm sorry you're feeling so down, I've been feeling snacky lately too. Umm that huge bag of popcorn last night right before bed?? Totally unnecessary. lol. I'm sorry about your wrists too..maybe just go a little easier on them for a few days. Also you can incorporate wrist strengthening exercises into your routine which could help...I have to do that with my ankle that I sprained over a year ago (I need to get better about doing it regularly though). Good luck with your auditions!
Dawn, that's cool that your neighbor offered you that advice...I think adding in strength will definitely help. I'm a huge fan of strength. I feel so much better and less sluggish when I'm doing weights a couple times a week.
Thanks toodle!
Evie, yaaay spin finally!!
Great job Stephanie, that's exciting! Sorry about the migraine though, I get migraines too and they. are. hell. So I know your pain. I've never been to the ER for one though, yikes!
Rach, you're in a snow storm too?? haha I can just picture Yoda doing that...and omg I can't wait to see you on your bike, it sounds super cute!
Okay well I'm supposed to do a run today..which I will somehow. It's pretty cold outside today though (for Florida) so it's making me not want to go lol. Maybe I'll just have to go to the gym, but I WILL do some form of exercise today! ttyl.

Oooh I LOVE monkey bread! Idk the Hungry Girl recipe and I'm sure it is better for you (albeit probably filled with Splenda knowing Lisa) but real monkey bread is to diiieeeeeee for.
As for cold remedies -- I am a big fan of Ricola because it is all natural...and lots of added-vitamin liquids -- orange juice, pom juice, vitamin water, etc. Tea is also a great source of antioxidants. Rest, obviously, is what will make you well the fastest but it is soooo hard to just rest when you have other responsibilities.
Evie I know it is NOTHING like what y'all have but we are having a snowstorm right now which is BIZARRE for Louisiana. It started around 9 this AM and is supposed to continue through tomorrow...closed schools, etc. Yoda keeps trying to shake it all off when we are outside but alas, it stays stuck to his sweater.
Stephanie I don't have a real bike yet but I am getting one for my birthday -- a red cruiser, banana handles, metal caps over the wheels and a basket on the back. :) It is for Boston and I am sssupppper excited.
Today's agenda is work now, nannying at three, and then the gym.

Good morning ladies! Well, after spending half the night in the ER with my hubby (migraine) I was scared to get on the scale this morning. I didn't snack, but stress, being up half the night, and lack of sleep usually plays a big part in that number on the scale. Still I was down!! Now that is just what I needed!!
Dawn, don't get discouraged!! Maybe switch it up a bit. If you always eat your higher calorie meal in the evening try eating a big breakfast and smaller supper. I've heard that really can help. Don't change the amount of cals just how you eat them through out the day. I think that might be one of my new goals...one "switch it up" day a week.
Amber, are you the one with a hurt wrist? Whoever it is I can totally empathize. I hurt my shoulder and had to be careful with everything I did!! It can get discouraging for sure. Take care of it and soon you'll be back to normal!
I'm going to the neighbors the afternoon so I think we might play the Wii for a while. That will be my exercise. Yesterday I cleaned my house cleaning job but didn't work out since I was in the ER. Tonight I'd like to do some strength training as well. Tomorrow is another busy day, but I NEED to squeeze in some treadmill. Man, I hate that thing!! I would much rather run outside. Common spring!! Who else loves bike riding?? I can't wait to get out and ride my bike. I have to pull both my kids in the trailer which is a great work out on those legs!!
Have a great Thursday all!!

Amber- Great idea about mapping it out one week at a time. I have a mac so I use iCal a lot and have a different color for each aspect of my life. I guess I'll be adding a 'workout' one. :) I have a seminar til 6pm tomorrow on campus but he usually lets us out early so I am gonna try to make it to spin! Then I have a training session on Friday and my trainer is making me do a total body workout. ugh walking lunges kick my butt.
Erin- I probably should start taking my ipod to the gym in general. they play decent music so I usually don't but it's so much easier to zone out when i have my own. Don't give in! I gained 2 lbs back last week, and now I'm down from that. Just keep going and the weight you already burned will come off eventually! Like Dawn I also use airborne. and Orange juice. When i feel like I'm getting sick i buy a container of simply orange and drink it all. usually helps :)
Dawn, I went through something similar and seriously don't let it get to you. I've gone through a couple week or two periods where I haven't lost weight and it's been very frustrating. Just see it as we're barely 2 weeks into the month. you have time to make up for it! and feb is a short month! :)
Umm Toodles that monkey bread sounds SO good. Now I'm hungry!! Well today was a good day, I ate okay and went to the gym-- half an hour on the elliptical, 8 min on the stairmaster :) IDK if i'll have time to go tomorrow because I have class ALL day but maybe in the evening!

Hey! About the healthy cinnamon buns... I usually use the HG recipe for monkey bread.. except I add more brown sugar/cinnamon/syrup because I like them a little bit gooy-ier :) If you google HG monkey bread, you should be able to find the recipe... although I must admit it is NOT as good as land of nod cinnamon buns...but the best healthy ones I've tried :)

Hey Erin! I hope you beat the cold! I've heard bad things about the side effects of Zicam (probably worst case scenario internet rumor stuff, but google Zicam Side Effects just in case). I use Airborne quite a bit and it has helped me. I hope your wrist gets better soon. And is 'break a leg' the appropriate thing go say for auditions??? :)
I'm struggling too. I kicked butt in January and lost 14 lbs, but haven't dropped 1 stinking pound in February. I am at that same point I always get to where I say EFF IT, I'm busting my butt and not losing, so why bother? and then I go back to my old ways. I don't want to do that this time, so I am forging ahead. You guys are a HUGE help! I also have a neighbor who sent me a message on Facebook. She is a personal trainer/nutritionist and has noticed me out jogging lately. She offered me tips! Priceless! I forgot how important strength training is and I have been doing ZERO! All cardio! I had the mind set that I must burn this fat off by getting my heart rate up, like a mantra BURN BABY BURN!!! DUH! Muscle burns fat! I knew this but was so focused (and enjoying it!) on cardio that havent been doing any strength. I hoping by switching things up, I'll get over this hump. I maintained my weight all year, was 1 pound lighter this Jan 1 than last. So, I KNOW what to do when I hit my goal weight....I just gotta get there first!!!

Dawn- I totally know what you mean about having good foundations/bronzers... OMG... they save my life. I'm addicted to Mary Kay. I've been using it since I was 13 and I've always had good skin (knock on wood) and thier foundations rock for a great price. Oh, and the bronzer rocks my world too... so... yeah, I'm in love.
Stephanie- I'm getting cabin fever as well... while the snow stayed away yesterday we got lots of ice, and I couldn't get out today because our driveway is a hill, and I was a dummy and parked on the actual "hill" part. Grr... hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow ("Annie" anyone?) and melt some of this ice away.
Evie- The best thing to keep the gym insteresting... switch it up. I LOVE group class type things, so if I've got a gym, I'll be in whatever I can fit into my schedule (I'm like that with dance classes too... Ballet one week, jazz the next, modern... whatever =) If you do the same thing over and over that's the easiest way to get bored. Oh! And what about a music makeover... just a thought. Makeover your playlist. I agree with Amber about making the gym an appointment ahead of time. When I was in college I put it in my class schedule as a "class" so I would go the same time every M,T,W,R,F or whatever... that way I never scheduled anything over MY time. Because that's what it is... YOUR time. Don't take it away from yourself.
Toodle- feel better soon... and good luck with the brainstorming!
I'm also trying my best not to get sick. I've got lots of auditions coming up so this can't happen! AHHH!!! I tried practicing some of my audition songs today and I was squeeking... NOT GOOD. Any thoughts? Does anyone do Zicam or Cold-Eeze or those things? What do you think about them? I always hate paying the high prices for the "name-brands." But, I don't know if they'd work better. What is everyone's thoughts on this?
Nicole- I hope the eh has turned to excellent... good luck with that.
So, my past week has been really hard. I've been strugling a lot with snacking, and feeling bleh, and just kind of "down". The super bowl weight has caught up with me, and I'm now up a pound from where I started at the beginning of the challenge... which depresses me, and makes me just want to say "Screw it" and eat. I know, I know... it doesn't make sense. But, that's how I'm feeling. Also, my wrist have been bugging me lately and THAT is stressing me out. I can't do my workouts the same... no push-ups, certain Yoga poses, and the weight-gloves for my TurboJam... I feel like a major blimp today, and it doesn't help that I've been feeling kind of crummy.
So, I did my yoga today... which was great, excpet a few wrist pains. Tomorrow will be strength and abs I think... or a hardcore cardio if I'm still feeling major blimpy... we shall see... oiy.

Thanks Rach..yea that wet, curly hair grosses me out too. The Princess Leia bun thing sounds like a fun idea to try...probs make my hair wavy which I would like. Sorry about the insomniac dogs and broken heater...but yay for lots of cardio and yoga! Can't wait to (possibly) hear exciting tales of your Savage adventures tonight lol.
Okay, Evie, about the gym being boring...I've kinda been feeling the same way lately, but I always just do my same thing bc it's just easier to go to the gym..I know I can do my cardio x number of times per week and my weights x number of times per week, etc..it's just really convenient to fall into a pattern there, and I never used to want to do classes bc I was like "Well then how am I gonna still fit in all my weight sessions?? The class will have to replace one, but I don't want it to.." so the only class I'd ever do was spin. But lately I'm totally changing my whole outlook on exercise...I'm really trying to mix it up, not be so rigid, and just try new things/make it fun. After doing yoga, I was like "okay this is something I DEF need to incorporate into my routine" ..I might do some more strength/cardio after attending a class, but I def need to do yoga classes. Then with the boot camp I was like "umm hello, no I might not get my *exact arm workout* that I would've done today, but that guy (and all the other people in the class) are gonna push me WAY harder than I ever do, so it's still an amazing workout." Also, I've only been to this boot camp class twice but I can tell who the regulars are, so I know if I went every week I'd know everyone and it would be kind of a social thing too, ya know? SO. That all being said, I suggest picking 2 or 3 classes that you can make it to and trying them out. If you don't like them, try new ones. The instructor will almost certainly push you harder than you push yourself, no matter which class you go to, and you know that the other people feel your pain. LITERALLY lol. Oh and as for the schedule being different each week, I've started kind of planning my workouts on Sunday..I look ahead, see when I have exams, etc...then you can write down every class you're gonna go to and every time you're gonna work out. Then there's no way to be like "hmm what do I have going on today? When am I gonna work out?! I wonder if there are any classes I'd even be interested in today..but when are they??" etc, etc. AND you're more likely to go simply bc you wrote it down...think of it like writing down a doctor's appt..you're not gonna just call up and cancel a doctor's appt bc you "would rather watch tv on the couch" or something lol. Hope some of that helps :)
Wow 3 days in a row?? That really must be one crazy snow storm!
So today has been excellent so far...started off with 5:45am boot camp!!! :D It was really tough again, but I'm still doing cardio today. I decided I'm gonna start running a lot. (partially bc of our convo, Rach) I'm gonna run this route today that I used to run a long time ago (it's like 4 miles)..time it..run and "train" for awhile, and periodically time it to see how much I'm improving. And I'll probably set a goal after I see what my baseline is today, and try to reach it by a certain date. I'll let you know :) Oh and I've eaten really healthy today so woohoo! Okay well hope you're having a good Wednesday, ttyl..keep it up everyone!

Hi Everyone!! Happy Wednesday!! I have come down with a nasty nasty cold and sore throat, so yesterday and today I haven't been able to exercise. Although, my inability to swallow has limited my calories significantly :) ... being sick is awful!!
I work in a cube -so whenever you cough or sneeze they pretty much send you home so you do not affect everyone. I'm hoping to be back at work tomorrow and back at the gym friday. If I walk for an hour tomorrow and then head to the gym friday, the week will not be a total write-off.
I agree with the John Frieda products! They definitely help the waves, and reduce the frizz, and there is no wet-dog look.
Only a couple days left!! Such great work everyone!! I am already starting to brainstorm new goals :)

It's hump day!!! How is everyone's Wednesday treating them? I'm doing pretty good today! I sure would love to go outside for a walk though but it's just too cold. The weatherman said spring was six weeks away...tulips, robins and warm days. That doesn't even seem possible when I look outside today!! :)
Dawn, I so know what you mean!! In fact I had it so bad I finally started taking meds. I hated it and it was more like a week long, hide under the covers, keep away from me kinda thing. Feel better soon!!
Hair?? Don't even get me started...haha! I end up straightening my hair most of the time. It's just too frizzy. An on going battle for me...
Evie, I love the snow, but snow days do get old! I can feel cabin fever setting it!!
I'm already thinking about my next three goals. I'm pretty sure I know what one of them will be...it's a new one too! Haha!
Have a great Wednesday all!

Thanks for the hair advice Rachel! I'll keep an eye out for those products next time I'm out. I also HATE the 'wet' look. No thank you to the crunchy hair.
I'm about to head to the gym so this post will be a short one... Ugh I'm getting to that point where going to the gym is getting boring. Any ideas on how to beat that? I think taking a class or two (spinning if it's not cancelled tomorrow because of the snow! ) would help but at the same time, my schedule is so different each week it's hard to make it to classes...
We got more snow last night- and another school cancellation- 3 days in a row! This didn't even happen to us in High School! My dogs totally don't understand the concept of snow though. I have 2 shih tzus and the one is just going crazy being kept inside- she keeps scratching at the back door to go out, but every time she does she gets stuck in the snow and one of us has to go dig her out! Then last night she walked over to me with her leash... it was heartbreaking but I can't take her for a walk. Our community doesn't have sidewalks and the roads are just too messy/narrow because of the snow mountains on each side of them!
Dawn, Hang in there!!
I'm sure I'll talk to all of you lovelies again soon!

I used to have curly thick hair actually! I know that sounds weird looking at my pictures but when I cut it super short it took away the curls....there is still a touch of wave but not much at all...I can get away with JUST blow drying which never used to happen. We also thinned out most of the thickness over the years between layers and those crazy thinning shears.
Anyhow the key for that kind of hair is good product. You have to find one that makes your hair managable and that you KNOW will work. I hate products that make curly/wavy hair look "wet" ...they super gross me out. So I would always use a combination of Frederic Fekkai glossing cream and that John Frieda curl mousse. The glossing cream keeps it from not being frizzy, the Frieda defines the curls. Usually I would just wash, product, part, and let air dry...my hair NEVER did well trying to blowdry it curly. Sooo you g2 do all that first and then let it be drying while you get ready. My sister's hair is pretty straight naturally but when she wants to define waves she clips it up (take sections, twirl them into mini Princess Leia buns, clip with a claw clip) and then blows it dry WITH THE CLIPS STILL IN. Take it down, shake it out, perfect curls. Hopefully one of these two things helps!
That IS a good tip about dissolving the vitamin...I will have to try it. I take the One-a-Day weight loss...not so much because I think it promotes weight loss but because I like the combo of vitamins it contains and the extra B's.
We had a really awesome night last night but when I got home the dogs wanted to play....until 4 AM. Aaaand my heater was broken. So not so much fun. But it was okay because the beginning made up for it. I did Yoga yesterday and today is double cardio day -- "real" cardio and then a run. Tttthen Nannying. Jess and I are toying with the idea of going back to Savage tonight but it just depends on how much homework we can get done in the meantime.
We can do this ladies -- just a few more days!
xoxo RMS

Erin, glad you're feeling better :) Great tip about dissolving the vitamin, never thought of doing that. And another good tip about doing the hair last...my hair is long but thin though (still takes a strangely long time to dry), so if I let it start air-drying first, all my fly-aways frizz up and I can't get it to look right lol. Also..well I don't have this problem quite so much right now since it's cooler..but normally I save makeup for last bc a lot of times all the heat from the hair dryer and straightener make me sweat lol...even if I have the AC on, the Florida weather/humidity still sneaks its way inside (drat).
ahaha Dawn that's so funny you call it a wog...one of my friends and I used to always go on jalks! lol...same thing, but jalk always sounded more fun to me :P
And yes, we're def doing another challenge...Rach and I decided to start it next Wednesday (the 17th) to give everyone a few days to just relax (relax does NOT mean sit on the couch and go crazy with food though! haha), and decide what worked/didn't work, what needs improving, etc. so we can all make realistic, effective goals. :) So get ready and be brainstorming for new goals!
Evie, yea that happens to me. When it does, I just scroll to the top of the page and click on "21 Days: New Habits, New Weighs" (the team home page), and then re-click on the "Daily Check-In" board and I can see the new posts. It's annoying, but it happens every few weeks with this group and with SSY too. Man, snow days sound so awesome to me! I've never had one...I've had a hurricane day before though, and it turned out to be a gorgeous day so that was pretty sweet haha. My friend had her first snow day a couple weeks ago and said it wasn't everything she thought it would be bc she was just stuck inside all day and couldn't go anywhere lol. I dunno, but maybe I'll get to experience one if I go to school in Boston!
So today was mediocre. Started off okay...ate more than I should've for sure, and didn't exercise (but it's okay, I think I've exercised for 5 or 6 days straight...need to keep better track of it so I can see it better). Anyways, I'm currently trying to think of better goals to set for next time bc only one of mine is really working...we'll see. Alright well I'm going to 5:45am boot camp again tomorrow (fingers crossed I wake up!) so I better get to bed right this second. Keep it up girls! :)

Okay as soon as I posted that it fixed and I saw the posts I had been missing!
Yay for Stephanie having a spark page now! :)
Dawn I'm so proud of you- baggy pants are the best- I had something similar happen and I finally found a pair of gray slacks at JC Pennys for like 20! :)
Amber, A loss for our challenge is still a loss! :) I lost a LOT the first week, like an unnatural loss like 8lbs loss... but clearly this week I did not do as well.
Rachel, What advice do you have for someone with frizzy curly hair :( oh yeah and it's thick too. I never know how it's going to turn out curly and straightening it takes sooooo long.
I didn't have school again today (2 snow days in a row! ) and my boss told me I wasn't allowed to go in because she didn't want me to risk anything with all this snow!
YES to Dawn I definitely want to do another 21 day challenge... Does that start next week? Are we taking a week off? I'm fine with starting right away!
love you all!

AW Stephanie! You TOTALLY out did me last night! I made the mistake of sitting on the couch to put my shoes on and didn't move for 2 hours!! But I realized that I had worked out 5 days in a row, so I didn't feel too bad, GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!
I had a dentist appt for a crown prep so I got off work at noon. Since it was 30 degreees and SUNNY I couldnt wait to get outside and go for a wog (walk/jog). One hour twenty minutes and 810 calories later, I finally came home!It was so nice just to be outside! My neighbors probably think I'm totally nuts as I grooved to my IPOD and was clapping my hands as I went along! I had to stop my self from doing a pole dance on the Stop sign when FloRida Right Round came on tho!LMAO! But I did DO the Macarana up my streeet as it was the last song to come on! Aw.....I hope I have enough energy left to tackle the 8 loads of laundry that need to be folded and then I have to pack. Um yeah, Hi, whoever is in charge of how many hours in a day,can you hooka sister up with about 5 more? Thanks!LOL!
Oh Rachael! I took your feeling cute and ran with it! Painted my nails today! OMG! First time in years and they are purple! Woohoo! Love it! Erin and Amaber, I have hecka thick hair too. When I have the time to dry and style it I love it. I usually wash it every other day, but since I've been working out more I've been washing it daily. It's long enough for a ponytail again (TG!BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD short hair cut grew out finally!)
Erin-bronzer ROCKS! I have one from Chanel (my guilty pleasures are good hair products and good foundations) that I've had for like 2 years! I use it very sparingly along with a self tanner moisturizer for my face (get very pink/white in the winter-blech!).
I really need to take the multivitamins I have in my cabinet. Maybe that will be one of my challenges the next round...we are doing another one, RIGHT??? :)
Ok, gotta make dinner for my boys and then laundry. If anyone is bored...I'd love company...Anyone?? LOL!

So, first of all, thanks for supporting me through my "FoodOver," I really appreciated the love on my blog! Crazy to think my body used to digest that stuff with ease. I'm feeling MUCH better today, thank GOODNESS!
Dawn- YAY YAY YAY BAGGY UNDIES ROCK!
Toodle- Yay for doing such a good job on your weekend get away. That's awesome!
Multi-Vitamins- Yeah, I take Equate Women's Once Daily (wal-mart brand). I read a couple articles on multi-vitamins and it covers my needs. Also, I did a "dissolve" test... and it dissolved (put your vitamin in a glass of water for an hour... see if it disolves. You can add a bit of vinegar as well, so it's more like your stomach's acidity... is YOUR vitamin going to your body... or going through you? Ew. Just a thought...)
Amber- I also have thick-long hair... the trick is all in the timing. I normally get out of the shower, finish my skin-care (sunscreen and moisturizer), get dressed, do make-up (it's amazing what a foundation (which really is skin-care, but I'll spare you the details unless you REALLY want them ;), a bit of bronzer and mascara will do... it's AWESOME for an out the door look. Five minutes at most). THEN I dry my hair... by then, it's had some time to air-dry... or, you can even get breakfast BEFORE you dry your hair... so it's drying a bit on it's own before you get-to-work on it. Less time drying that way. Also, I LOVE my layers... I can just blow-dry and go if I want!
Amber- Yay for muscle deffinition! Muscle burns fat! So, okay... maybe you've gone up... maybe it's muscle! Either way, you're going in the right direction... feeling better is the best way to start!
Okay, back to stuff I need to be doing! Happy Tuesday all!
~Erin~

Dawn, great job this week, nothing gained is a good thing in my book :)
Rach, good tip on getting a routine down...since my hair is so long it takes awhile to dry, let alone get it looking how I want, so that's at least 15min if not longer. But I should make more of an effort, and have been actually for the past few months (ya know since I'm single and all now lol). I MUST get better with makeup..I always end up rushing and putting my makeup on in the car which is SO dangerous. Plus nowhere near as fun as putting it on in front of a big mirror lol. Aww man you're up 2 lbs?? What is the DEAL with your crazy body?! lol...I definitely think running will help and lowering your cals will too...just don't become obsessive and NOT eat if you're truly hungry. I think you should def see a loss soon doing those two things! :) mmmmmmm those muffins sound so delicious! And pretty low cal for muffins...where the heck did you buy a jumbo muffin pan?? haha, I've never even thought about making those but it sounds fun.
Nicole, that's great that you're down from earlier this week! And girl, one week is definitely enough time to improve still!! You already HAVE improved...just because the number on the scale doesn't necessarily go down, doesn't mean you're not doing other great things :) Oh and my sis and bro have a Wii..I rarely use it, but when I do I love Wii Fit and Dance Dance Revolution!! omg you. should try. dance dance! I know it's stereotyped for being dorky or whatever, but it is so much fun and SERIOUSLY gets your heart rate up...and makes you sweat lol. I'm a fan of any exercise that's really fun :)
Erin, you CAN DO IT! That's great that you're where you were last week, even without being that focused. Keep it up girl, you can push through one more week! :)
Stephanie, I think it's okay to splurge every once in awhile...it was the Super Bowl and you had a party! lol..I wouldn't beat yourself up too much :)
Dawn, that's so exciting when you realize your clothes are baggier yay!
Toodle, o. m. g. Your chocolate buffet and all your other weekend splurges sound SO YUMMY right now!! How do you make your "healthy" cinnamon buns?..I might have to try that lol. Great job on all that walking and biking. And yea, I take multi-vitamins (not every day though, I need to get better)..I usually just look for the ones with "for Women" on it, but I don't think it really makes a big difference. I know a lot of people say you don't need to take them necessarily, I just like to take it to fill in the gaps in nutrients where I might miss them.
Wow, Rachel, you amaze me with your fruit and vegetable intake...although I guess it makes sense since you ARE a vegetarian lol. But still. I need to follow suit and increase my f/v intake!
Sooo I'm up a pound from last week (bummer) but overall I'm still down 1.6 from when we started. Either way, I'm not upset...I was sick earlier in the week and then had a couple really high-cal meals toward the end of the week, so I was kind of expecting it. But I'm kicking exercise/cardio into high gear and really focusing on eating healthier and smaller portions this week. And even if I don't lose much weight/inches for this challenge, I'm definitely noticing some muscle definition starting to come back and overall I just feel so. much. better! Did a little over 30min of arms and abs tonight and then 30min of cardio. I wanted to do more cardio, but it was all I could do to get through 30 haha. Stretched for maybe like..7 minutes? lol...grrrr somebody talk some sense into me and make me stretch more! kthanks.
Alright well let's make this last week awesome..we can do it!! :)
xoxo ~Amber

I'm so happy others can finally see my page! I had a page, but I was helping a friend get her page set up and she couldn't add me. Finally figured out that I had checked the "off line" box. I guess that made the difference cuz now you can all "see" me!! :)
WooHoo I just finished about 35 minutes of strength training...ohhhh, my arms are crying. Dawn inspired me when she said she was getting on the treadmill and I couldn't let her out do me now could I?? Haha!!

Stephanie -- THANK YOU so so much for making a sparkpage -- I love it! Also, no worries about the pie, etc. ... you'll get back on track!
Everyone else with the superbowl...same thing! It was just one day. You are still awesome.
Iiiiiii ate 1800 cals today -- YIKES. Partly it is because I burned 1200 cals, but also I made a more caloric dinner than need be -- ten servings of fruits and vegetables today though. Tomorrow WILL be lower in food though I am going out to the Savage so there will be alcohol calories involved. :)
Last week guys, let's make it awesome. xoxo RMS

Eeeek :) I went away for the weekend, returned and all you fabulous, healthy people have been posting up a storm!! Good for you guys!! It was wonderful to read about your new fitness achievements, new healthy recipes, new healthy habits!! Great job everyone!!
Congrats on being able to run for 30 minutes, being to small for your pants, trying new healthy recipes, drinking tea instead of snacking, exciting progress!!
I spent the weekend away from home in Vancouver - the city is definitely getting all ready for the olympics. All in all I did pretty poorly food wise for the weekend. I splurged on the chocolate buffet - which was SOO good! But I followed your advice and only ate things I loved (but there were soo many) and ate lots of chocolate covered fruit! I have a weakness for cinnamon buns - and I treated myself to a cinnamon bun, seafood, cupcakes, bubble tea, wine and a candy apple over the course of the weekend! However, we walked everywhere - saturday afternoon I was on my feet walking for 4 hours :) So hopefully, I didn't go too too overboard. I am waiting until tomorrow to weigh myself because my scale batteries died :P
This week I am planning on exercising a little bit more and eating a little bit less to compensate for my splurge on the weekend and prepare for Valentine's Day (darn my weakness for chocolates). I am doing to make healthy cinnamon buns with blueberries (not raisins) for brunch :)
Today at lunch I went to the gym and biked for 30 minutes and then went for an hour long walk after work. I am now back and fully involved in being a better, healthier me!!
Question: do any of you use multi-vitamins? what would you recommend? Keep up the great work :)

Free to good home: Buffalo Chicken dip made with lowfat cream cheese, chicken, hot sauce and blue cheese crumbles....I'll even throw in the crockpot if you take it! It's calling me from the counter. Fortunately this was the worst thing I ate yesterday...but ate too much of it. The boys are finishing it off for me, along with chili macncheese. I'm fooded out! It was nice to go back to work and eat normal again. Weekends are so hard to stay on track.
Stephanie I so feel ya on the heartburn! Ugh! Acid reflux all day! Good reminder of why I shouldnt eat that way. Way to put your foot down and do better NOW! Rachael-thanks for the tips on getting cute! lol! I find myself getting all did up for work even tho I work alone in an office and then barely brushing my hair on weekends! WTH is that about?! I'm trying to make more of an effot on weekends. It's nice to feel nice. Erin-I detest clothes shopping. Something about shopping for clothes with an X after a 1, 2 is kills the mood. I dream about shopping for clothes, just going into a store and pullin a size 10 jean off the rack....AWWWW-It'll will be a reality someday.
On a good note, I've noticed my clothes are getting baggier. Sadly, I first noticed it when I went to that dinner last week! I just grabbed a pair of slacks out of my closet, the usualy 'go-to' dress up slacks I've worn the last year or so. I hadn't worn them in a few months and when I put them on at the hotel, HOLY FRUMP! They were so baggy! Felt great about that, but sucked that they were all I had! LOL! My underwear are getting baggy too! That might be TMI, but I'm proud! LMAO!
Nicole-If I run into Kasey Kahne (so cute!) I'll tell him you said Hi! :)
Oh....whats that? The treadmill is calling my name now! It's drowing out the voice of the tempting chicken dip!!! YEAH!!!!

Happy Monday all!! Today is not my best day, but I'm putting it behind me and I'm going to be good for supper and get back on track. Instead of saying I'll do better tomorrow, I'm saying I'm going to do better NOW!! Beside I have heart burn from all the crap I've eaten...good punishment eh?? Ha!! I didn't weigh in today. I was to nervous, but I'm wishing I had now. I will tomorrow. Rachel, after reading your post I want some muffins! I've have to check out SP recipes. I actually enjoy baking when it's healthy stuff. Amber, great job running! It is rewarding to put in a good run. I always find after a good run I'm sooo hungry! I need to find a good balance. Do we really only have one more week??? Wow!!!
I wrote all this after my first post didn't show up...Ha, can you tell I'm feeling better now? :o)

Arrrrgggggg, I'm struggling today!! There I said it!!! I did so well up to the party last night and even then I KNOW I went over my limit, but it wasn't crazy. Since I made almost everything I used reduced fat cheese and dressing etc. I stayed away from the cheese dip but the cookies got me...DANG. A friend brought them and they were oh so yummy! I did have a piece of pie, but I had it with slow churned ice cream (ever try it? 120 calories for 1/2 cup and it is delish!!!)and only had one piece...yesterday. Right now I'm on my second for today.....grrrrrrr! How can I say no when it's in my fridge and calling to me every minute! Now there is only one piece left and it's for my hubby. So.....tomorrow I'll do better and there is absolutely no more splurging today. I didn't weigh in today and I should have. I think I will tomorrow. Even going up makes me work harder. Ok, I've jabbered enough. No more pie...no more crap. I will be good the rest of the day!! Thanks girls!!
