Make sure the apple cider vinegar is unfiltered, organic or "of the mother". I read that using filtered acv can have the opposite affect.

I have been dealing with this for a long time now... Losing weight only seems to have slowed it down. I started drinking apple cider vinegar(unfiltered) and the hair started to get thinner and grow even slower. I used to have to pluck daily, but now I'm down to once a week.

I was on Spirinolactone and had my Dr. stop it because hubsby and I are TTC and I was afraid of birth defects it can cause. I admit, I'm a shaver and honestly, since I've gone low carb for the past three weeks, the hair growth is still thick and burdensome but not NEARLY as fast growing.

Oh my goodness I've had facial hair for years and I wasn't even the one who noticed it! For my senior prom my ex and I had been snuggling out in the hallway and he found the first black thick string of hair coming from my chin! I was mortified! since then that first hair is non existant from plugging it so much that I think it damaged the follicle thank goodness! But that one hair has turned into a down right beard that I have my husband pluck every two weeks. He loves doing it so I don't bother to try to wax. He told me he didn't understand why it bothered me so much. DuH! Because I don't want to look like his furry rear! And I can't use the hair removal creams because I have such a sesitivity from them the first and last time I tried nair on my legs I ended up with major chemical burns and I'm to scared to try anything else particularily on my face.

I have fought this one for years! I have a mustache that's mostly blonde but it gets long! I have a big scar on my upper lip and plucking/ waxing makes it 10x's more sensitive! I also have the chin hair that is darker and get long when not attended to. I am losing my hair on top of my head but it grows wild on my face!

I am on metformin it doesn't seem to help that I have noticed in the years I've been on it. The Spironalactone that I took slowed it down, however after being on it for quite a while I started having dizzy spells. It is a water pill (diuretic) used for blood pressure regulation. I have always had fairly low bp and this made it, my bp, almost nonexistant! ( my doctor had to try take it several times, as I swayed standing there!) I about passed out upon standing and was immediately taken off of it.

Take heart it's just a symptom of PCOS and can be managed with home treatments. I pluck away!

Ugh! Yes, I have it and I hate it. I get it big time around my jaw line and on my chin - too much to pluck so I shave...however, no matter how I get rid of it the irritation causes me to break out so I tend to more sensitive about my facial hair that I've ever been about my weight. I also have some on my abdomen big time - if I don't keep it under control I feel like I'm turning into a gorilla. The Metformin seems to help a little. :)

I totally feel where everyone is coming from. I have the same problem, mostly on my chest and chin/neck. I swear I could grow a better beard than my husband, but as I started taking metformin for my diabetes and losing weight I noticed it slowed the hair growth down.

I have it too. I remember my mom tweezing her chin when I was a kid. It was manageable for me until I quit taking birth control about a year and a half ago. Part of my morning routine is checking my hair growth and removing it. My doc prescribed Vaniqa and had to write a letter to my insurance company so it would be covered. It works for me, the only thing is I have to be sure to exfoliate because some of the hair grows under the skin. I think to myself "Seriously? I'm trying to grow hair on my head and stop hair growth on my face." Ahh, PCOS - you suck!

my mother had me get laser when I was 14. before that it was really soft peach fuzz, yeah , after laser it was super dark and thick . after that I HAD to pluck and was often. now I just pluck it and use veet on my upper lip. if its fine - leave it alone. bleach it but don't remove it. if its already really bad, one thing I heard thats more time consuming but can be a lot more effective is electrolysis. a couple of treatments a month for 2 years. pricewise I've heard it isn't that bad - no more than getting a pedicure. sometimes i've heard that start with the worst body part - like that chin and they'll just do that until it gets better, that way its more cost effective for you.

and yes, spironolactone and certain birth control pill can really help. just my 2cents.

I'm another one with Facial hair. It sucks big time!!! I am very white (and in the summer I go red, lol) and I have very dark hair so if I dont pluck it's very noticeable.
I've also noticed since I went off BCP that it's come in darker and in more places. I now have hair on my Back and Chest as well as face & arms. I would love to try some of the treatments but we are trying for a little one so it's out till after that.

For me, not really. I'm so self-conscious about my face that I shave everyday. When I'd put the Vaniqa on, it would just burn whether or not I shaved beforehand. After I switched endocrinologists, she said, "Nice idea but it doesn't do much." Maybe it will for you - it just didn't help me.

Have it. Hate it. But the wierd thing is that now it feels like the norm for me. I NEVER let anybody touch my face but I know that they can sometimes tell that I have facial hair. I would love for my husband to touch my face but anytime I feel like his hand is going near it, I quickly push him away. I will LOVE the day when I no longer have to worry about or deal with this problem. Losing weight will help tremendously!

I always find myself checking my chin out every time i see a mirror because i am so concious about it. I have sideburns but i try to ignore those because i find that if i were to get rid of that it would just be to much. But my grandmother never fails to point them out and always ask why i dont shave them. than it makes me feel worse about myself. occasionally i shave my chin. i think the hair is the worst because people look at your face all day long.

Yeah the facial hair thing sucks! I hate it, luckily I am blond so it's not as noticeable, but I sure do notice it all the time. I have been taking metformin for about 3 months, but it doesn't seem to be helping in that respect. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. A friend of mine used the vaniqua(or however it is spelled) and she said it worked great for her, I don't know if that helps anyone or not.

OMG i thought i was the only one with this issue. Im hispanic so i have BLack i mean black hair, and i have it really bad, ive always had long side burns o i stated shaving them my senior year in high school, then they started coming out more frequently and darker, then i started getting it all over my chin and even some on my chest!!! This is somethinig so embarrassing, I also have it all over my back, i have to shave almost everyday it sometimes makes me really sad, my family always basically making fun of, me so instead of getting mad i join in the laughter and tell everyone that I was meant to be a Boy but it just didnt turn out. This is a BIG self esteem issue for me, hopefully losing weight will help me. I was on Metformin but felt like it was dooing nothing i was also on that spirolactin (how ever u spell it) but was also taking 4 more pills from deppression meds to birth control pills, so i stopped taking all meds since i have a hard time swallowing pills any ways, well from then to know ive gained about 30lbs im am hoping, wishing praying, i can start loosing weight and i hope i can find alot of support an encouragement on here.

I have been dealing with this issue since I was 18. When I was 27 I went to a dermatologist and had laser hair removal, which was painful and expensive, but the results were amazing. The doctor told me it wasn't permanant and would grow back if I didn't have several treatments a year. I couldn't afford the treatments at $350 a session. I didn't have to do any maintenence on my face for 2 - 3 years, but now I have to shave every morning before leaving the house. I was prescribed Vaniqa after the laser treatments, but my insurance didn't cover it and it was $72 for 10 days, so I have never tried it.

Ugh. I absolutely hate my chin hair!! It had slowed for a while but when I finally got pregnant it was out of control.

I don't like to shave it but I've done that several times. I had used some creams but they weren't much better.

I tried that NAD'S stuff and it did help for a few weeks at a time.

I think I'm going to try laser treatments but the girl told me that I since I have PCOS the hair won't all be removed but it will be decreased. For $800 I would hope it is decreased alot!

I have had this problem since I was about 12. I had a stepfather that used to bring it up daily, so at 15 I started waxing and such. When I got pregnant the first time I had stopped birth control for over a year and the hair got horrendous! So I was told by my OBGYN to start shaving. I did. I have ever since.

Two years ago I started electrolysis. It really did help (but I lose my job and couldn't afford to keep going). So I want to start again and will when the money flow is good. I want it to be gone permanently.

Have you ever considered Vaniqa? It is a cream that reduces hair growth. It is made for women.

Just an idea :)

I too have lots of hair... but I guess I'm kinda lucky cause I'm blond and my hair is really fine and light, well, except for a couple of pesky whiskers on my chin.

I'm also covered in fine light hair everywhere else too, back, arms, neck. It's still annoying, but I count my blessings that it's not very noticeable until I point it out.

Oh yes. I've been dealing with it since I was about 19 or 20(I'm 32 now). I take Spironolactone, which helps a lot, but I still shave everyday because I'm self-conscious about it. I've gotten really good at hiding it but there are times when I can't and before I met my fiance and I would date other guys, they would want to touch my face and I'd back off really fast so they couldn't. Then they'd question me like crazy.

Facial hair sucks.

I've had this problem for quite a while myself. Not too bad, but enough that I usually have the tweezers in my hands almost everyday to pluck out the odd stray hair! Pain in the butt, but there could be worse things to have to deal with!

Spironolactone does slow the growth but the important part is that it stops new follicles from starting. I didn't think it was working. I stopped because I wanted to try for a baby and wow I became the bearded lady overnight. It is VERY important that you not take this medication if you are pregnant or trying to conceive. It is known to cause an array of birth defects.

YES!! The hair growth is a BIG problem. I know women arent supposed to shave their faces but I have been since I was in 11th grade. I have to do it every 2-3 days. I hate that. They also have Veet for faces. It's not as harsh as shaving but it stinks. If you can get a prescription for spironolactone/spironolactin(sp) GET IT. It doesnt STOP the hair growth because the testosterone in our bodies will still be there, it just slows it down.

I would always get one or two little hairs under my chin so it wasn't too bad because know one that could see it or that i knew of! emoticon

Anyways, once I started loosing weight I would HARDLY have to pluck. So yes, I think once you start loosing your weight it will decrease!

Hope this helps!

I have have the same problem, but i was using the spiroaldactone for about 2 years. I thought it wasn't working because the hair was still growing so i stopped. M an-can it tell the difference. When i go back to the doctor in june i'm getting put back on it. The only downside of it that it is a diuretic and you pee about every hour or two. At least i did now matter how much i drank.

Most of mine are light so they dont really stand out, but i do have to pluck the dark ones from my chin area. I want to get the laser hair removal but it is expensive. :(

The simplest answer is to act........

You can do anything for 15 minutes....

Matthew 8:26
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

Matthew 26:41

Oh yes, I have facial hair too. I've had the problem for about 20 years now. I just use a tweezer and pluck out the dark black ones that are most visible, sometimes on a daily basis. I've lost 60 pounds so far and have about 50 or so to go. So far, losing the weight hasn't helped the facial hair. I have heard spirinolactin (spelling?) might help with that but haven't checked it out yet. It requires a perscription.

The last two years I have been packing on the pounds, and with that it seems like I am getting a ton of facial hair. It is not bad enough that I need to shave (LOL), but I am getting self conscious about it. I am hoping that loosing weight will help it decrease. Anyone else have this problem??

The simplest answer is to act........

You can do anything for 15 minutes....

Matthew 8:26
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

Matthew 26:41
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
