im a bus aide with preschool though 21yrs old. started right out of high school did it for 5yrs and now on my 2nd year. the best part of my job is seeing the kids growing from when have had them when i had first started. and with helping them get though hard days.
I am a bus driver, I love what I do. I drive school bus and tour bus for a local company. I work with kids and know I make a difference, When I do charters I often work with seniors. They too can be a challenge! There are times that you wish it was friday, and also days that are just wonderful you wish it would not end! I want more then just a Gold watch when I retire, I want to be able to look back at all the wonderful memories of field trips and bus routes that I connected with the Kids and fellow staff.I thank god every day for my Life !!!!
I love the kids, the difference between 6th and 8th grade is amazing. However, I think one of the best things I love about my job is the ladies I work with. We have nine ladies who prepare and feed about 750 kids a day. It is really challenging as we offer many varieties of sandwiches and salad along with the main entrée. If the kids do not like the entrée, they have a different choice. I am personally responsible for the baked products and all the fruit. I am happy to report that I go through about 80 apples a day, 20 + oranges a day and about 200 cupped fruit. We also go through about 300 juice as well. I love seeing a tray with fruit and veggies on it. I make comments like 'Good choice" or "Don't the apples look great today?!" it is hard to get kids that age to interact but once they do, watch out! LOL!
What I love most about my job is the students. I transport those in pre-school through High school. I have watched many start schooland succeed to graduation. I have even ben=en blessed when my students bring back their 5 year olds, so that I can transport another generation! I am active politically in My school employees UNION and I am an advocate for the special needs students...not those disabled but also those economically challenged!
Watching the children mature as they go from 6th grade to 8th grade. Huge changes. Most are good. I also like watching the older students take the younger ones under their wing as mentors. I also like their sense of humor. They get it and they give it.
