I love your idea for the letter! I am going to use this idea, but with a bit of a twist. I am going to write myself a letter to open on my birthday(6 months away) and a second letter for Thanksgiving! I have started and given up so many times. I am determined to make this time the one that clicks and sticks! Thanks!

Today I am writing a letter to myself to open Thanksgiving 2014. In the letter I'm going to remind myself how crappy I feel when I eat poorly, don't exercise and can't button my jeans. I will also encourage myself to conquer December 2014 without eating and drinking everything in sight. I don't need to to have a good time. :-)

Never give up.

Hi everyone!

The decorations are down and put away. We spent the day yesterday watching the Rose Bowl Parade and football games. So happy both Clemson and SC won their bowl games. Now to cheer for Fl today in the Sugar Bowl.

It is a chilly, rainy day here today.

Did great tracking my food this last week and today I started with my exercise. Cannot believe how far I have gone backwards. Just need to make that turn around and get going again.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone,

Sun is coming out~~50 degrees. We are supposed to get some rain.

I am working on Day #4 of tracking. A few "bleeps" but still stayed in range.

Have a great weekend.

Just checking in to say hello. I made it through Day #1 and planning on keeping it going. It is a cold but beautiful sunny day here.

Not planning too much today. Started to knit myself a scarf. Pray if any were in the storms that you are safe. Have a wonderful day.

Christmas cookies know me by name. That is why I did not bake any this year. My daughter had some but they stayed at her house!! Sounds like you are doing great!!

I counted my "success" days when I lost my weight here before. Sounds like I may give that another try too.

I still only shop for food once a month. Yesterday I was in the company of a Jamaican who cooked us homemade lasagna and jerk chicken for dinner. I had to wait to eat the chicken a few hours as I didn't want too many calories in one meal. It all started a bit late in the day for lunch and dinner but worked out as I was able to stay on target yesterday even though there were cookies staring me in the face for a short moment. I think that's the first time that i didn't go for the cookies, not even one. It was easier since I didn't want to ruin my streak of staying on target for, I think this is day 16. The cookies are still in the fridge but I am not going to let that mess up my day.

Hi everyone~~started to track my food today. Will start with the exercise on Monday. Getting back on track is NOT easy but it has to be done.

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

I am going to really try the weekly menu planning. I like to go for groceries once a week and that way I won't buy what I don't really need. We'll so how it works out.

Wishing you all God's richest blessings in 2013!

I tried last week to plan my menu for the week but i only got passed 3 days and it didn't seem to help me stay on target much as some things I had planned went bad in the process. Had to throw out the cottage cheese.

I am going to continue planning meals either in the morning or the night before. That seems to be my speed. I have been eating clean so I have to try and keep up with the veggies and fruit so they don't go bad. Now I remember why I stopped eating fruit. Seemed like a luxury at the time. It's also inconvenient to go to the store every 3 days or so. I like the natural stuff but hate the fact that it's perishable.

Since your health is your priority I suggest you continue making 2 different meals, one for them and one for you. I have learned to cook for myself, one serving only of a main course and maybe a side dish. But it's always just enough and it's easy to cook when you do it in small amounts or if you freeze it to warm up later. I know the problem is if you have left overs from their part, you are probably going to want to indulge. So that's why i am suggesting you cook just enough, their portions smaller and your portion more exact. Eventually with practice it gets easier. I mean, are you people pleasing them at the expense of your own happiness? I am sure if they love you they will understand (or you can remind them).

I live in West Central MN and have been here now over 30 years with my DH and family. We have a dairy farm so that keeps us very busy! Our son farms with us full time, so is with us every meal, so far that is. My husband and son are meat and potato guys and tend to poo-poo healthy food, so that's my problem! They don't care for whole wheat flour, whole wheat pasta, etc. They'd croak if I served them quinoa. I can't eat tofu because of a low thyroid, so they're lucky on that! ha! They despise brown rice! We live in the sticks so when we get to town, it's eating out alot of the time with our shopping. This works out pretty good for me because I can choose more healthy and they can choose their not so healthy! I'm going to make a stir-fry today and they'll be ok with it. I've never been one to love to cook that much, I mainly do it because I have to and then when my family doesn't like good healthy food, it kind've makes it all the harder for me. I'm looking for some good suggestions here and help to know how to get along.

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

"Little by little whittling my middle!"

After looking at all you people in Tornado Alley, I had to laugh. I left tornado alley and moved into hurricane country! I live on the east coast, and LOVE it. I'm still trying to learn how to plant a garden here, as the soil is so different than where I grew up. I'd love to be able to feed my family from a garden, but so far, Its been hit and miss on the fresh veggies.

My mom is a great cook, and very healthy. She was a SAHM. I work 50+ hours a week, take care of my kids who play sports and have homework, and have laundry, house cleaning etc. SO, though I enjoy food, I don't have much time to make healthy dinners and get frustrated easily with my lack of time to prepare dinner.

I'm thrilled to find people who want to plan menus. I do it every so often and it is SO wonderful to have a plan and organization. Can't wait to share recipes and get ideas!!!

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it!

Be the girl you were too lazy to be yesterday!

Robin

I am a work from home mom of 2. I am happily married to a wonderful man. I live in Indiana. I have a problem with hip dysplacia so I don't exercise much. My job keeps me busy at the computer usually 12 hrs plus a day, I am operations manager for a trucking company that runs coast to coast in the USA. That means that I start at 7 am EST and end up stopping about 8PM EST when it is only 5pm on the west coast. I love to cook. I make homemade bread in my bread machine about daily. I will have cooking days on the weekend when I prep ahead for the next week. I love my slowcookers, yes plural I have 2 with an extra crock for one of them! I have a lot of weight to lose and I need motivation and exercises that I can handle the pain of my hips once it is over.

DYKT I am not one to cook if I don't have to and good reason, I really am not a cook. I can follow a recipe but for whatever reason it just doesn't taste right. My husband doesn't like my cooking all that much but neither do I. We both eat what I make because it isn't really bad it is just not all that great. I have made a new recipe yesterday, from the A-1 bottle there is a slow cooker roast and well it tastes ok, but for my husband I will bet he throws it out at work and will have to go out for lunch. The meat was not seasoned enuf and I have salt and pepper at my desk he won't so the trash is where his lunch is headed. I need really detailed instructions for recipes. Don't assume I will since you would think it is an obvious thing. I will eat this roast the rest of the week but I am sure he won't. I will have to fix something else for him. Rich we ain't and he has the palate of someone w/money that thinks he can have a different meal every day for lunch. Sorry dude, ain't happening. However I do try so he will eat something since he works 2 jobs and needs his energy. I on the other hand may not eat dinner tonite and will have peanut butter sandwich and call it quits. oh I can make some pasta and eat that. I only have to fix real dinner 2 nites a week, really one but I try for 2, he is home on Tuesday, I am not on Wed (at church) he is bowling on Thursday (but is hungy when he gets home) Monday and Friday works 2 jobs so I am home w/the pups and they have their own food! Sat and Sun well he leaves at 4 so we have breakfast late and Sunday is usually whatever I pick up after church. He wakes up when I get home. If I don't have any money then I have to cook something or he will eat his ramen noodles.

Cooking is not a popular thing for me. I did this roast and red potatoes last nite but the potatoes I messed up but eating anyway. I have got to get some decent recipes for things that both of us will eat.

I'm a single mom to the world's greatest toddler, and I work full time and go to school 3/4 time. :) It's hectic but worth it!

We are a foodie family and I love to cook! I am passionate about local, sustainable products, and my son and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen together. I meal plan currently and am looking forward to getting to know some more people here (I'm still pretty new to Spark) and finding new recipe ideas!

I live in SC. I lost my first husband in 1982 and raised four kids~~all are now grown and married. I have seven wonderful grandchildren and my first great grandson was born in April of this year.

Nineteen years ago I met Dennis and this December we will celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary.

We love Yorkies and now have Prince Harry VII~~he was five months old when we got him and that was his name. :) We call him Prince!

I love to knit, quilt, and cross-stitch. Love visiting family in VA, FL, and PA.

I hate to cook and really I am always looking for something new to prepare. My dh is a meat and potato guy and loves supper every night! :(

My church is pretty much my social life and I attend a Bible study on Thursday mornings.

Looking forward to making new friends and getting some good meal ideas.

I'm happily ditching my stay at home mom status after 20 years of holding that title.
My youngest is now 15 years and it's safe to say he's pretty self sufficient.
My husband is awesome and dances on my last nerve.
I refuse to do any laundry that's not placed in a hamper.
I have a "questionable" sense of humor.

I'm Evelyn, I live in the mountains of NC. I'm a wife ( 32 years), mother and grandma of 3 (as the name would imply), and a nurse. I work on the head trauma unit of a local rehab hospital,. We don't see a lot of drama (tornadoes, hurricanes, etc) with nature, (thank goodness); it does get cold in the winter and it's usually cool through the summer ( I love it!). We raise a lot of our own food, (beef, pork, veggies) and I like canning and freezing what we have. Generally a low key kind of person, but always look at the joyful side of life.
I really need to lose weight and I look forward to our journey together! May we all find the success we're looking for.

Believe it or not, I live in Tornado Alley too...... just that I live in Virginia! I live on the eastern rural part of Virginia, but our area has more tornadoes and mircorbursts than anywhere else in VA!! The weathermen/women always refer to us as tornado alley. I know our area doesn't hold a candle to what you guys go through.
