So sorry about your DH, Starr! I'll be saying prayers for both of you!

Mary Anne, it is hot & humid, we finally got a smidge of rain last night, but not enough. It's so dry our lawn has that "rust" disease. When you walk across it, it turns your shoes orange. Every pair of shoes I have is orange dusted.

Starr, I am so sorry that things are so bad for you right now, I'm sure your hubby doesn't like being in that condition either.

Rain off and on today. We don't have anything special planned for Labor Day. How about you all????

Guess we need a September Chatter now!

Hugs everyone!

Kay, are you getting this heat and humidity? I was sweating vacuum the pool!!! At least I got a good swim in after.

Sandi, glad you made it to the cabin and I'm sure you'll be glad when you have answers for hubby again. That has to be so frustrating and I do understand what you mean about always being at the doctors. I told the retinal specialist that I should just start working there.

Jules, are you able to keep a lot in the garden over the winter? I know dad always loved to leave the parsnips in for the frost to hit. Said it made them sweeter.

Starr, sorry for the difficult times you are having. Do you have anyone to give you a hand?
Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

Had a nice quiet day today and just got some odds and ends taken care of. The girls have been a little nervous tonight since there are some fireworks going off around us.

Good morning everyone emoticon Happy September. I am SO GLAD to be finished with summer. emoticon

Was going to go to church this morning, but DH's home heath care aide had a minor car accident yesterday and cannot come today. That's ok, I guess, as I have LOTS to do at home. And since I never get a "day off" anyway, why should today be any different?

My DH has reached a point in his disease that it is very, very difficult to understand what he is saying. My enjoyment in talking to him is gone.

And feeding him.........is very difficult also. He chokes on just about everything, which makes feeding him more then unpleasant. But anyway, that is how it goes.

I hope you all will have a wonderful Sunday and first day of September.

emoticon emoticon and more emoticon to everyone.

Perfect day here today. I've had veggies growing all through Winter they should be ready to harvest by the end of September hopefully. We're lucky that we don't have snow and freezing to a great degree. The veggies in the garden are reasonably impervious to frost so they stood up pretty well.

I hope your husband does OK with his operation Sandi and Kay I hope yours is feeling better too.

Mary Alice I do hope Duke gets another home so you'll be able to concentrate on Mutt again.

I didn't get my table put together or the seeds planted, I did do 3 loads of washing and got to hang them on the line. Made Lasagne and salad for dinner and did a whole lot of other stuff that needed doing so I was not on my rear end at all.

Going to the market tomorrow morning the weather is supposed to be lovely so I'll take Maggs for a walk through and I've convinced Ray to come along, should be a nice morning.

The ultrasound has 3 settings Low for acute or new injuries, Medium and High for Chronic. It's the high that gets warm after 5 mins or so. It says not to do it for longer at one time.

Jules, glad the ultrasound is helping your pain.

Kay, don't blame you for not wanting to go with your DH and FiL not feeling well.

We made it safely to the cabin.
They are mailing hubby's new monitor up here as they didn't have one in stock. They are waiting to see what that shows before scheduling surgery. His next dr. apt with the cardiologist isn't until Oct. 9th. He may try to get in to see him again when we go back later in Sept for his primary dr. appt. Seems like all we do is go to the doctor!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm very tired from traveling so will be signing off for the night.

Sleep well everyone!

It was quiet today, didn't do anything special, kinda nice. Just deadheaded my flowers & puttered around. Did pick some apples this evening when it cooled off; going to try to make some apple butter. Not supposed to get any rain here; too bad, because we certainly could use it.

Jules, always seems funny, we're all finishing up gardens, and you're thinking about starting yours. I love that time of year & the anticipation of what to plant, where, how much. I always have such big plans, and usually end up planting same old things.

Kay, I think you deserve a nice, quiet weekend. Hope you enjoy it and get to relax. Sure beats and 8 hour drive.

Jules, I didn't realize that it would heat up. Glad you felt some improvement and hope it helps. It's funny to hear you talk about spring while we're thinking of fall. We'll be raking leaves and you'll be planting. lol

MaryAlice. that would be so great if they can find a home for Duke. You've gotten him off to a great start and I'm sure he'll make someone very happy (including Mutt).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We had clouds and some sun today but no rain. I got in a good swim and it felt great. The next two days will not only be humid but rain and thunder storms.

God be thanked for books. They are the voices of the distant and the dead, and make us heirs of the spiritual life of past ages
William Ellery Channing

Good morning. Yesterday I took Duke to the vet. His appt was at 1:30, we didn't see the vet till 3 and gt out at 3:30 That is why I prefer morning appt, but right after I got there a lady came in with a yorkypoo puppy she didn't think was very sick, but her grandchildren thought should go to the vet and as I left I heard them tell her the puppy had come though surgery fine and was in recovery. If it saved the children their puppy I have no problems.

Duke did fine. There where times he sat so close to me he felt like he was trying to push into my body. He made me proud. he walked up to people, sat down in front of them and waited for them to hold out their hand before going up to them. No jumping.

DH is afraid of Duke and has begged me to get rid of him. I do have a problem with 2 big dogs, so I told the vet I needed to find him a new home. She said he was the kind of dog lab rescue loved and got me in touch with 2. Lab rescue was glad Duke was neutered, had all his shots, was on heart worm meds and I had him in a safe, if not ideal place. I can't let him in the house. They said prospective owner would love that he was learning to walk on a leash, he still pulls some, but knows beside me, ok it isn't heal but that is what I learned, and knows the basic doggy manners.

Kay and Mary Anne I tried the ultrasound and it worked well on the bits I did it on. It's funny because you can't feel anything like vibrations but it starts to heat up depending on how long you have it on. Anyone who has an aversion to that icky stuff they put on you when they do an Ultrasound will have to get used to it because you have to use it wherever you use the machine.

First day of Spring here tomorrow, the weather has turned a corner and the days are much more milder. I've got seeds I have to start and a new kitchen/dining table and chairs to put together so hopefully I'll get them done tomorrow.

Glad hubby is feeling better Kay and Sandi.

Jules, I'm anxious to hear about your ultrasound machine too, and if it helps your shoulder; so I can consider one for DH. He's doing fairly well with this drug so far, it doesn't eliminate the pain, but it minimizes it enough so he can work at least. He had missed a lot of work in August.

We were supposed to have went to a family reunion this weekend, but between my DH & my DF (dear father, lol) we just stayed home. Neither one felt like making the 8 hr trip. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend; ours will be quiet, but that's a good thing!!!

Sandi, hope your DH is doing okay with his monitor; are they waiting to see results of that before they decide about surgery? Keeping you both in my thoughts & prayers!

Mary Anne, is it hot there? It's really hot & terribly dry; we need rain, although the air is so humid you could cut it with a knife. I watered this morning and couldn't see the plants for the sweat running in my eyes.

Mary Alice, poor Beka, what a life to have lived for one so young! Hopefully, the stability of being in one place will eventually make her feel secure and sure.

Nancy, glad you stopped by. Time for my Susie's vet appt too; I had one, then with all the goings on, had to cancel it, need to reschedule.

Jules, you'll have to let us know how the machine works and if it really does help. Wonder if it would help arthritis? Will they come back out and adjust Steven's machine? It's a shame they didn't listen to you the first time and now he's paying for it. They always think they know better

Nancy, it's always nice to hear from you and L&L. Enjoy your days off!!!

MaryAlice, were you able to get the rest of the info into your new phone?

Sandi, are they going to wait until you get back to attach the monitor until? I didn't stop to think that that's how they check on dad. Safe travels going back and forth. Will you just be able to go and enjoy yourself this time....no clean ups???

Went out and pulled some weeds today. Those little buggers are winning. Can't believe how bad they are this year.

Hope everyone has a great, long weekend!!!! Stay safe.

We are back in Florida but are leaving for the cabin again tomorrow. So hopefully the yellow lab won't come back for a visit until we get back!!! She is so beautiful but Zoey didn't like her hanging around!!!

Hubby's a/fib has only been detected by an EKG or by wearing a heart monitor which he wears monthly for different amounts of time. This next one he will be wearing for 30 days. I now have the "official" name of the type of surgery that the doctor is suggesting so I plan to go online and do some research.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Like I said we will be driving back to the cabin for about 3 weeks before coming back to Fl. We've had a lot of going and coming this summer but it can't be helped.

MaryAlice I know Beka misses you, hope she will adjust to being away from you and that she will get to visit.

Well have lots to do before in the morning so better get off here!!!!

“Real courage is when you know youre licked before you begin, but you begin anyway.”

Good morning, Yesterday I gave up and told my DH I needed to go to Best Buy. DH loves Best Buy and took me right away. My new phone is made by Samsung and Samsung has a store in Best Buy. The said when the phone company moved my info from the from the old phone to the new phone they only half did their job, and that is why I couldn't do the things I want to do or find the thinks I was looking for.

I'm Duke to the vet this afternoon. The 1st I give Mutt his heart worm meds and got to thinking, I don't know when Duke got his. I called and he should have had his the 26th, but she was out of his meds, had an appt for the 28th, but was moving and didn't take him. She said he was to get his 1 year shots then. She didn't know where she had packed his records, and couldn't even remember the name of the clinic.

Hi everyone - I have the day off so have a minute to check in and OMG - I miss all the news and goings on . . .

Jules, hope you're doing better - sounds like you've been through the ringer!

Kay and Sandi - I hope both hubby's are doing well now - So scary, I'm sure for both of you!

Sandi - Good job with the Lab and like I said - I think that pup may have known exactly where she was going! Keep your eyes open - She may be back for a visit! If I've got the schedule right since last I checked - you're back in FL now . . .

MaryAlice - Sounds like you have your hands full and doing a great job for everyone!

Mary Anne - So glad you made it back safe and sound from your long drive. I'm sure the little ladies were happy to see "mom" back!

I'm just grateful to have a few days off work to relax . . . well, maybe not exactly relax . . .I'll be busy but still not the same as having to drag myself in to work . . .

I'm getting ready to take Miss Lily to the Vet for her annual visit - more like 15 months. Louie got his shots a few months ago when we had our "emergency" visit when Lily scratched him on the eye lid - It wasn't her fault - I'm sure . . . He must have "said" something to get her riled up. Or else he was teasing her again - grabbing her back leg when she jumps up on the bed - He can't help himself ;)

Ok, Have a great day everyone - I'm grateful you're all here even though I don't post very often.

Hugs,
Nancy, L&L

Blessings,
Nancy

Mary Anne my arm is feeling a bit better today, I got my personal ultrasound machine in the mail today so I have to read up on it and give it a try tomorrow. Steve is doing OK with the CPAP machine but not as good as before since they reduced the air. We both told them to reduce it only to 18 but them in their wisdom decided to bring it down to 16. It's not high enough and he is starting to get a bit puffy in the morning.

Sandi my Mum had some AF as well that you could only see when you took her blood pressure. I'm glad he's doing well.

I feel sorry for Beka, she must be a confused little girl sometimes with her upbringing. It'll take a long time of constant care and looking after to change the way she thinks.

Kay, glad to hear your DH got some relief. That has to be so frustrating and scary for both of you.

Sandi, didn't realize that they would have to do an EKG to realize that there was still an issue with the a/fib. How often will they do them? That yellow lab is one lucky dog. Does it actually live close to you? When we lived in MA, we had one show up during a snow storm. I was able to contact the owner through his tags. As soon as the roads were drivable, he came to pick him up. I warned him that he might meow since he had been hungry from his long walk and all I had was cat food!!!

Jules, hope your nap helped. How is your arm/shoulder doing? Are you sleeping okay at night? How about Steven and his Cpap?

MaryAlice, I'm sure Beka misses you big time and this has to be hard for her and for you. I'm praying that as time passes she can just be a happy little girl

Had a bunch of phone calls to make, paperwork to do and errands to run today and feel like I have nothing to show for it. Hate these kind of days.

I'm glad they found my hubby's a/fib too, he doesn't have any symptoms so it can't be detected unless he has an EKG.

Kay, glad your hubby is getting more help and hopefully will get relief with it.

Well, today was busy. As I posted in my status, a yellow lab found her way to my yard today and I spent a lot of time trying to find the owner. Thankfully they were found. I'm so thankful the dog came to my house, I don't think that was an accident! A lot of people in our neighborhood work. Hopefully she won't get out of the yard again especially since we will be going back to the cabin for a few weeks.

More progress is made by attacking problems than by attacking people.
Harry Scholefield

Good morning. I woke with all kinds of plans for the day, walking the dogs, Duke needs a bath he is a muddy mess. Then they went down the drain. My feet are killing me and I don't want to move.

I talked to DS last night. Beka was already in bed, but I asked him how she was doing. He said that his wife keeps asking her if she wants to call me and Beka get all emotional and runs out of the room. He said Beka might not be answering my letters but even if it is just a post card, she gets all excited. DS says he is seeing some of the things I had spoken about and he just couldn't under stand. One is she has no attachment to things, does't take care of things and thinks nothing about leaving them. He said they are moving to a larger apt, and said she thinks you move by just throwing a bunch of stuff in the car and if it got lost or left behind you just got another. She doesn't understand packing at all and her mother moved her often.

I took my phone in yesterday. They said my phone was working fine at the time, but what I was describing was the beginning of the end. They said it might completely die in a week or so and might hang on for 6 months, but wouldn't be reliable.I get off work at 11P and have to drive country roads with no street lights home and there aren't even any pay phones. I wouldn't feel safe. I wanted another stupid phone, but I had a choice between a flip phone and a smart phone. I can't text my son on a flip phone so got a smart phone and spent an hour trying to figure out how to make a call on the stupid thing. I will admit that when I figured out how to text my son it was easier. One of the ladies at work said she wanted to get a phone so her middle school son could call her after football practice and didn't even have the option of a flip phone, They kept telling her they could sell her the data plan so her son could get the full befit of a smart phone.

I had to look up Lyrica Kay, they use a lot of epilepsy drugs for nerve problems. I've also been allowed the occasional Tegretol for my neuralgia, it works sometimes and others the Naprosyn does the trick. Whatever works I say.

Been really mild here today with the weather, too bad I felt like crap and was laying down for most of it. Don't ask me why but I've had a lousy headache for most of the day, I actually had a sleep for an hour or so this afternoon, something I rarely do.

The doctor is sending DH back to a neurologist that he saw a couple of years ago when he had similar kind of pain. In the meantime, he gave him a generic form of Lyrica which I guess they give to fibromyalgia sufferers for their nerve pain. It seems to have helped, which is good, because neuro appt isn't until 17th of Sept even with our dr asking for ASAP.
He does use heat, Jules, and even took heating pad to work with him the other day.

Glad to see you back Mary Anne, and driving is tiring! I think even riding in a car is tiring enough without the added stress of driving.

That's too bad about your hubby, Sandi, but I'm glad they found it right away and are taking care of it quickly. I bet it is beautiful in the mountains in October!

Alice, nice to see you again. Sounds like you're taking good care of your little kitty, hope everything turns out okay with the eye problem.

Mary Alice, I have a "smart phone" because I like to use it for a GPS on trips, but it's smarter than me, because I still don't know how to use much else on it. And even if you have one of those, they want to trade it in on the latest one.

Alice, just drop by when you have a chance. Good to hear from you.

MaryAnne, glad your folks are doing good and that you had a safe trip.

We are planning to go back to the cabin Saturday. Hubby found out today that he has a reoccurance of his a/fib and will have to have some surgery in October. Sure hate that but glad they found it. I was sure hoping we would be able to spend the whole month of October up there. The fall is my favorite!!

Good evening everyone!

Kay, so sorry to hear that your hubby is still in so much pain. Jules is right, keep after that doctor.

Sandi, when do you head back to the cabin?

My folks are doing pretty well. Dad worries so much about mom but she's in her own little world and doesn't realize what her condition is. The drive has really caught up with me today and I'm heading up to bed. Woke up a little after 6 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Have a good night everyone!!!

Afternoon Everybody ~ ~ ~

Been a while since I have been here. Guess I need to hang around more. I did come by one day and read the posts, but just didn't write anything.

All our furbabies are doing great, including Garfield. So proud of the way he is growing and being such a great little trooper. His little eye has come around a whole lot. You can see the pupil now. Don't know if he can see out of it yet. The vet said that the 3rd eyelid had taken over. Don't know if that will affect his eyesight or not. To have been a backyard feral kitten, he sure wants to be held a lot. The thought of sending him to Colo gets more difficult everyday.

Alice Thinks Sometimes Maybe Perhaps

Good morning, Last night my phone went nuts. First it wouldn't turn on. I took the battery out to reset it thinking it needed rebooted. It turned on and seamed to be fine, so I put it on my pocket and took the dogs for a walk. I heard it clicking while I was walking, but when I called DH it worked. This morning it said my memory was full. I checked my pictures and there where 30 some pictures of the inside of my pocket. I'm taking my phone into T-Mobile today. I think I know what they will tell me. They have been telling me for years that I need to update. I kept telling them "it works why do I need to update" well I guess I need to get a new phone. They still won't be that happy. I want a phone that rings, you answer it. I need to be able to text the teen age grandchildren, they don't know how to talk on a phone. That's it. A stupid phone is fine, I don't need or want a smart one.

Last night while I was walking DH called and said the power went out and would i check with the neighbors to see if everyone had no power or if it was us. It was about 8. I checked around and no one had power. I was told someone ran into a power pole and it would be 10:30 before the power came on. The temps were still in the 90's, I was out walking, since we have a well no water for a shower and I wanted to go to bed early. The power didn't come on till 11:30 and I was asleep in my chair.

Kay I'm so sorry your husband is in so much pain. I know this sounds simple but has he been using heat packs??? They can do wonders for pain relief. Maybe you can buy a personal TENS machine they can be of help as well as the personal ultrasound machine I mentioned in a post earlier, they are available from Amazon at reasonable prices. It's just a thought and I will see what I can find for other forms of pain relief for him.

DH came home barely able to move again; he says he going to call dr tomorrow, can't stand it anymore, so we'll see what happens next.

I'll be that's a zoo, Mary Alice, people returning supplies & others trying to find the correct ones or additional ones that they just found out their child needs. I sure remember those days.

Hope you're breezing through all your appointments, Sandi, so you can get back to the mountains. It's very hot & still here, weather that we should have had in July, but didn't!

Alice Thinks Sometimes Maybe Perhaps

Good morning. I'm off today, but work tomorrow so trying to get up and get something done. Last night we had a mess in customer service. Yesterday was the first day of school and last night I had all the parents returning school supplies they thought they needed, but really they got the wrong thing. I saw that when I had a buggy full to go back on the floor and rolled it to the front of CS to be picked up the parents were all gathered around it to see if I had what they needed, so I started rolling half full buggies out of CS where they could go though the buggies and not block CS. Management doesn't want me to roll them out till 8 but when the bank next door closed at 6, I started rolling them out in front of the bank. I guess management saw what was happening because no one complained.

All th sick, hurt people and their care givers. Piece be with you.

It really should have started to work by now Kay, go back to the doctors and pester them to do something. They'll do nothing unless you press them. They can do up to 3 cortisone shots any more can damage tendons etc.

I'd definitely try the acupuncture as well, it's gentle and will not aggravate hubbys injury. Ask if they have laser pain relief or ultrasound as well as they both can help

I went back to finish Sparking on Saturday & had no internet, nice! I like the way the phone company that provides my service can go down for no apparent reason & be off for for a day or so, but never offers an explanation or refund of your money or lowering your bill for the month. emoticon

Way to go, Mary Alice! emoticon There are enough scammers around, that's for sure!

Hubby still isn't doing much better, was hoping for better results, they said it would take about 5 days for the cortisone to take full effect; it's been that long. I'm at a loss as to what to ask them to do.

Good morning, no walks yet today it is RAINING, yes there is wet stuff coming out of the sky.

Last night was a first for me. A lady came into the store to pick up a $2,000 money order. I called a manager to get the money, didn't have that much in my register, and went over her paper work while I was waiting. 2 red flags that this was a scam went up, but they weren't biggies. Then just before the manager got there there was a really big one and there was no way I could legally give her the money without a whole lot of paper work and 2 forms of ID. I sure didn't want to be the one to tell this lady I couldn't give her the money without the ID and was glad to see the manager. When the lady saw me talking to the manager, she grabbed the paper work and took off. The manager said I made a good catch, but was glad she took off and we didn't have to file reports with the government. I've had to explain to people that if they are receiving large amounts of money I need two forms of ID, and I have questioned people about who they are sending large amounts of money to, but this is the first one that said scam all over it and it wasn't from one of the countries I'm suppose to look out for, it was from Tenn.

Mutt is almost 6, he has never jumped on the furniture. He just doesn't jump. If I put a laundry basket in the doorway, he will stop and wait for me to move it. Well he figured out he can climb into my recliner. I got up one morning and my recliner was warm. The next night I got up during the night and Mutt was in the recliner. He just looked at me as if to ask if i was mad at him. I was surprised to see him there. Mutt was the only explanation to who had been in the recliner, but he had never do it before. DH isn't happy about that, but I told him it is the only piece of furniture he gets on, it is mine, Mutt only gets on it at night and I don't care. If Mutt decides to get in DH recliner I'll do something about it. Yes we have special chairs. DH has CP and has problems getting up and down. When we go shopping he has to try and get in and out of everything. When we get home any piece of furniture he could get in and out of easy is his and no one else uses it.

Alice, your Jacie may have epilepsy. There are varying degrees of epilepsy in dogs from symptoms like yours to full on seizures. This may not be the problem though (I don't want to scare you) but you may want to mention the episode with the vet next time you see them.

Carol, my dogs won't have a bar of steps at all. I've tried all sorts of stools etc but Bruno and Maggs won't use them. It's a pain as I am having trouble lifting Maggs with my torn tendon so I have to rely on someone else to do it.

I bought myself a personal ultrasound machine today. The price was reasonable and it will help a lot with my elbow, shoulder, ankle and other soft tissue injuries that the family has.

Evening Everybody ~

Has been a real lazy day for me. Did a few chores this morning and most of the rest of the day has been working on slippers and pot holders. I have an order for 3 pairs of slippers and 3 sets of potholders for a woman to give for Christmas gifts. The slippers I can whip out in one day, but the potholders take a couple 3 days.

Had a real scare with our little Jacie this morning. She just wasn't acting right when I got up. I picked her up off the table where she was sleeping, and her head just went limp in my arms. She just laid around and slept. Not at all like her in the mornings. I was about ready to take her to the vet. But she eventually woke up and was to normal. Whew.

Carol ~ your puppies sound like one of our cats, Sparkles. She just will not let us fix the bed, especially if we are putting fresh sheets on. She gets under the sheet, lays down and refuses to come out. The other cats pay no attention.

All the babies are doing great. Garfield seems to be greater every day. Vet is thinking his eye is coming around a little more every day. Don't know if he can see out of it because of the 3rd eyelid covering it up.

Everybody have a good restful night. Get those zzzzzz in. Just wish I could get one night of 8 hours sleep. Getting only 3-4 hours of sleep each night does begin to take a tole on the bod. But can't seem to do anything about the insomnia. Have tried different sleeping pills with no long term success. The last one I took made me hallucinate with night seizures following. When we finally pinned down the problem, the doc took them away from me.

Will see you all in the morning.

Hi Carol, your little ones are so adorable. That is kinda cute that Polly wanted to sleep on your hubby's head but can see how that wouldn't go over so good!!!!
Our furbabies are just wonderful and I'm so thankful you rescued Polly.

Hi, Everyone emoticon I just had to post because I'm having such a blast with my two Chihuahuas. I got them doggie steps and now they can get up on the bed - Polly, the bigger girl, could jump up on the bench at the foot of the bed and get up on it, but Peanut could jump down but not get up on it by herself. Now they just run up the steps, and they have decided it's fun to run up there while I'm trying to make the bed emoticon I can't believe all the joy these little angels are bringing us and I can't believe that they were given up to a shelter. Polly was only hours away from death when the no-kill shelter rescued her! What a tragic waste that would have been because she is so full of life and love! I found out last night that they are both afraid of thunder and lightening. Polly got so scared she sat right on my husband's head - but that didn't go over really well emoticon so I let her just curl up next to me on one side and had Peanut on the other. They finally stopped shaking and everyone got to sleep at last emoticon Dogs - You have to love 'em emoticon

For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son.........

Welcome Alice, we are so glad to have you join this wonderful team. I will go to your Spark page and check out your furbabies!

MaryAnne, hope you have a safe trip and a nice time with your folks.

Hope everyone is feeling good today, my sinus' are better but my head still feels stuffed up!!!!

We went to a craft show today, there wasn't as many vendors as last year but got a pretty blue necklace that will look nice with denim. Then went to a couple of antique stores and looked around. Will be going out for dinner tonight. Busy day so guess it's a good thing I'm feeling better!

Good morning. I go in at 11 this morning so I'm watching the clock. I know it is early but changing when I go in messes with my routine and I loss all track of time.

Duke did well enough last night that I walked him for 30 min. He still has problems with other dogs weather they are loss or behind fences, but he is still a puppy and has never been around other dogs before.

Freyja wants nothing to do with kitty water bowls. She drinks Mutts water, so funny seeing this little kitty stretching to get Mutts water, she can just barely reach the water. Freyja also like to drink from the water filter on the fish tank. Duke was to have several water bowls. The little ones he throws around. The big one he stands in and it gets muddy. The more water bowls the more likely it is he has fresh water. With the temps in the high 90's he needs water.

Hi Alice (welcome again) I went to your page and checked out your plumber cat!!

Kay, the acupuncture should start kicking in after the 3rd week. I had the cupping and didn't like it at all, my back was sore for days after. The cortisone should probably start reducing the swelling after a day or so, he must be careful though and remind him to take his pain meds. This is one case where he needs to take them.

We have a community water bowl in every room because Maggs drinks like a sponge. Only problem with that is that old dribblepuss leaves water all over the place. Just as well we don't have carpet on the floor!!

emoticon Mabel!! Happy to have you here! Sounds like you have quite a bunch of furbabies! We all think our own furbabies are the best, don't we?? They are to us, and that's why we love them so much!

Sandi, my DH said he didn't feel all that poking & prodding; like Jules said everything was numbed. He was sore the next day. So far, he's a tiny bit better, but not much. I wondered about have more acupuncture, and whether that would help. You answered that question, Jules. Hope your elbow gets better with your treatments, Jules.

I have Susie's bowl in holder because she has neck & back problems. Jake will drink out of the water bowl, but not eat because they're metal, and he's afraid. (he's afraid of his shadow) The dry food against clanking against metal just gives him the willies, I guess. emoticon

Hello Everybody ~ ~ ~

Thank you Nina (TheHerdLady) for bringing me to this team. I have put my info and that of all my fur babies on the intro thread. It is long, so be prepared if you go to read it. We have 4 permanent cats, one baby being nursed back to health, and 2 dogs. We are proud of all of them and so glad we were able to give them homes. I have pictures on my page. My profile pic is the clown, Prince. He loves boxes, newspaper tents, and small places. He is a big cat weighing in at 17 pounds, complete love. I won't go into details here because I have to much to say about them.

Looking forward to hanging around and getting to know you ladies better.

Thanks everyone. Having injections two days in a row was a little scary. I was almost very concerned about getting on in the eye that had the two surgeries. I know the worry was all in my head but I couldn't help it. Feeling good today but tired tonight. The car is packed and I finally told dad I will be on my way tomorrow and is all goes well, will see him in the evening. My butt will be numb from sitting for 12 hours!!!!

It's not just dogs the have issues with water bowls. Of course, Daisy was the first kitty I had that had an issue with her bowl. While she was in the guest room, I had to keep her water bowl on a tray since she would stick her feet in it and drag it around. She'd have water everywhere. I have two of the kitty fountains and once she started using them she realized she couldn't drag them around! She did have a very wet face for a while.

Have a great weekend everyone. I will try to check in but not sure what things will be like. See you when I get back.

hugs to all and your fur babies too

RuthAnn, sorry it took so long to get back to you but I kept forgetting to get the brand of my baby gate. I live in a double wide and know what you mean about the doors not being standard size. My gate is by dream baby. I had to take off all the add on and the turn the the sizing knobs as small possible.

That's true MaryAlice!!! Each of my former pups have all had different quirks!!!
Zoey's bowls are in a "holder" also. My lab, Honeybear, use to put her whole face in her water bowl then drip water all over the floor!!!! At least Zoey is neater about her drinking!

Mutt doesn't turn his bowl over in fact I don't think he could. His water is in a doggy feeding table he wasn't drinking much but likes his water up need chest level. He drinks it dry. One thing I've learned is that dogs have as many quirks as people. They just can't tell us.

Good Friday afternoon to you all!!

I'm feeling some better today and we both slept better but still have a bit of a headache. From the looks of things in the news about allergies, this will be a bad season for me. Maybe I should just take an allergy pill everyday just in case!!!

Mary Anne, glad your eyes are better, do drive safely and have a wonderful trip. Hope you find your parents both doing well.

Kay, that treatment for your DH sounds very painful. Sure hope it helps. My DH had some acupuncture several years ago and it did help his back but it didn't last.

Jules,, sure hope the acupuncture helps your elbow.

MaryAlice, glad the water and kibble mixture suited Duke and that he will continue to eat. That's funny that Mutt turns his water dish over!

Good morning.

Good morning America is on and they are interviewing a boy band from England. They asked besides missing your family what is the hardest thing to get get use to in the US. The portion size, we haven't figured out how to eat that much.

Thanks to all that made suggestions on getting Duke to eat. I combined several, filled his food bowl 1/2 way with water and poured his kibble in. He dives in and eats every bit. DH says it is because he loves water so much. I think maybe he just doesn't like dry kibble. Either way he is eating. Mutt eats his kibble then empties the water bowl. Maybe kibble and water go together.

Nancy, don't worry if you can't make it here everyday, we all have life waiting for us and this takes up most of our time.

Mary Alice I'm glad Duke and Mutt are getting along better, Duke sounds like a bit of a wuss but then he's only a puppy still

Sandi I hope you (and hubby) get a better sleep tonight

Mary Anne hoping your eye is feeling better today, nothing worse than sore peepers

Kay it usually takes a couple of acupuncture treatments for it to start working. The cortisone looks worse than it really is, they include a pain killer with the cortisone so you don't feel it too much.

I also had some acupuncture and ultrasound today as well as a few exercises to strengthen my elbow. I've got to do it at home everyday with light weights and hopefully that will help my muscles etc.
