I have been fortunate that so far I haven't had operation-happy docs.

Diversity, you see, must not end up being some kind of feel good slogan, a word we keep in our back pocket to make us feel like we’re broad minded. Diversity is a gift. But it cannot be a gift…unless it is received
Mark Belletini

Good morning, I go in early today, noon. Yesterday I got the exercise I won on a wheel spin, so I'll look at that this morning. It is Coach Nicole so I'm sure there something I can do, she normally,

Yesterday My headache got so bad I almost called in. I took a nap and felt well enough to go in, then got worse as the night went on, It didn't help that I didn't get my first brake and my lunch was late. but then the closer came in at 6:30. He is a bundle of energy and turns everything into a joke. Hard to believe he is older then I am and retired army. Sometimes he can drive me nuts, but last night it must have been just what I needed because I started feeling better right away. He also was a there so I could take my brake and lunch and food helped.

Jules I think sometimes Dr just want to operate. The Dr told me i needed another operation on my knee. I asked if it would stop the pain, he said no it would make it look pretty. DH has CP, is 71, has lived longer than they said he would, does things they said he would never do and they want to operate on his legs. When I asked them how this would help him they said that there was a 50% chance it wouldn't do anything, 25% chance he would walk better and a 25% chance it would put him in a wheel chair. DH said he was glad I questioned the Dr because he didn't like those olds.

Whew miss a day and you miss a pile of posts.

Ruth Ann some workers (and bosses) these days are just hopeless, I just can't imagine how you work there without saying something else. I think I'd let it go, they'd soon find out who the useless are when they are left to do the work by themselves.

Pussass is a smart cat with regards to being outside, but still I always have him in by 5pm to spend the night inside and he never goes out before 7.30am.

Well I'm using my previous laptop after my new one snuffed it yesterday. This one also popped it's cork last night and I was left with 2 computers that wouldn't work. I had another look at this one this morning and tried the driver repair disc and what do you know it's been working fine all day, hopefully it'll start again tomorrow.

I'm not going to have the operation on my tendon, the surgeon said it would provide a minimal difference to what it is now and I really didn't want to go into hospital. So now it's hot packs and physio as soon as they make some appointments, the pain I'll just have to put up with until it all mends itself

Peace and long life - Jules

Kay, this weather is really surprising considering all the heat and rain we've had. I had all the windows open upstairs and had to pull the blankets up last night. lol

MaryAlice, that sounds like it could become a little cat haven for Freyja!

RuthAnn, all the years we lived in MA, our kitties were indoor/outdoor kitties. They were always in at night and when we went to work. When we moved to PA, we made them indoor kitties and they only went out with us. It's just safe with all the wild animals around. Sorry you're having so much trouble at work. I keep thinking of you as I'm visiting places to move my folks to.

The place I visited today is definitely a second visit facility. I was really impressed with the care unit for mom. They had two floors. The second floor has 15 residents that are mobile and the Alzhimer's hasn't progressed as much. The first floor only has 10 residents and they are the same or similar stages as mom. The bedroom is large and they would even put a second bed in there in case dad would want to nap or actually sleep there at times. Thought that was pretty special. My son will be going with on Tuesday for a second visit to another facility and we're going to be having lunch.

RuthAnn & Mary Alice, that's why I always say if I ever get another cat, it'll be inside, because every time I've had one, I just get it neutered & all fixed up & it either gets hit on the road (because there's a bridge where they like to cross for some reason) or they get into the ditch & drink the water, and the farm chemicals kill them, or they just vanish. You just can't have outside cats around here even if you give them a nice shed to live in or even your garage like we usually did.

Sandi, glad you had a nice visit with your family! See you next visit, busy lady!! emoticon

I'm too behind to catch up with everyone's posts. My DD and family flew home to Colorado Springs this afternoon and I miss them already! We are leaving in the morning for the mountains only to be there two days and head to hubby's family reunion. It will be several days before I'm back on Spark much.

Hang in there everyone.

Maryann Actually the bee sting hurt like the dickens but I never swelled up ,or anything it just hurt for most of the day. And I am still trying to dry up the poison oak. Using Tecnue and calagel. Its not so itchy as it is just plain burning feeling.

Kay, Marissa decided she didn't want to come back in the house because of my dogs. And I noticed her climbing higher and higher in the pine trees in the backyard.I kept thinking she is going to get stuck up there, That and the neighbors were complaining she was getting fur on their outside lawn furniture. She would just lay over on their patio and roll around like look mom i'm here and I'm fine , but she would run if I tried to go get her, it would take hours for me to catch her. So I just decided her and her brother Merlin will be staying in the house until Our house is finished and we get moved to the country, then I am not sure if I will let them go out there because I know we have coyotes and a bobcat that live in the woods. and owls , buzzards and hawks . and the like that they know nothing about.

MaryAlice ,,, We are having a screened in porch put on to the house we are building mainly because of the mosquitos and bugs out there are so bad , they almost could carry you away. I am thinking of maybe making a cat door so they can go out and enjoy the porch but not go any further. I just hate feeling like I am imprisoning them . and trust me they can make you feel that way if you just heard their pitiful cries of .." ooooouuuut pleasssssssssssse outttt Mom ouuuuuuuuttt": and that is just what it sounds like.

Jules have you tried soaking in a tub of hot water, or using a heating pad? you probably have but just a thought,, warm moist heat seems to penetrate the muscle better than anything else sometimes.

I'm so tired of working with people that don't want to work, I wish those kind of people would stay away from nursing homes, but I know most of them think , you don't have to do much , and get paid for it till they actually get the job, then its lets hide and do as little as i have to till its time to go home. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I actually had a new person tell me the other night at 3am , I'm tired can I just go home, I been up all day and I really just want to go home. And guess what 10 minutes later He left. so I had to cover his group of people and found out he did nothing all night till he went home. One woman told me she kept putting on the light and he kept coming in the room and turning it off. Guess what he came back the next night and did the exact same thing, Then I got lectured by my bosses cause I was mean to him. I made him cry,. I made a 27 year old man cry ,, because I yelled at him for not doing his job. what is this world coming to.

Its raining here so won't walk Molly and Matty today they will be disappointed. But I have a ton of laundry to do and a house to clean and have to go grocery shopping.

Have a great day everyone

We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.

Joseph Campbell

Morning, I spoke to Mom yesterday and she wasn't doing much of anything because she couldn't stay out of the bathroom. DD called this morning and said she called the Dr about her 1 year old, he kept filling his dippers. I am so stopped up I have a headache.

Freyja, likes to go out. Between stray/loose dogs and feral cats it isn't an option. I put a very large dog crate on the porch with a small doggy door to it. She loves it. DH says when his money comes in in Jan. we can enclose part of the porch in something like chicken wire so tree frogs, lizards and other small things can get in for her to chase, but she will be safe.

Crazy weather, I still say it feels more like late August or September! Supposed to be cool all week here, not that I'm complaining...I love it. I suppose that the lake people aren't too happy though. 70's & clouds not so great for water sports.

So, RuthAnn, I take it your kitty has taken to traveling to avoid the dogs? Too clever for her own good; but I can see why you had to put a stop to it. Too much trouble to get into out there! As far as the hornet sting, ouch, that would hurt anywhere, but between the eyes sounds awful. I used to get poison ivy, oak, sumac; you name it, I broke out from it, not quite as bad now that I'm older, but I have scars from having it when I was young. Take care!

Mary Anne, good luck with your visits, hope you find a place that's suitable for their needs.

Herdlady, have a super vacation! I'm ready for one too!

Jules & Mary Alice, hope you both find some relief from your pain!

Kay, tonight it could get down to 58! I'm in shock. lol I've had all the windows open today since the temps were in the 70's with low humidity. What a gorgeous day. We had one big rain storm last night that the kitties didn't like since it was hitting the windows so hard. Filled the pool back up and watered the plants. We were fine but some areas were hit so hard that the roads flooded immediately and left folks stranded.

Herdlady, have a great vacation!!!

Jules, sorry to hear that you're not really getting any relief. Also sounds like you're preparing yourself for the surgery....seems like the best solution. Thinking of you.

MaryAlice, do have issues taking any meds? I can't tolerate pain meds since they just make me sick.

RuthAnn, hope you're okay. Did you have a reaction to the hornet sting? Between that and everything else, doesn't sound like much fun. Please take care.

Spent the day on the phone and have set up visits for every day through Monday. Won't be around much.

Have a great night everyone.

Sorry haven't been around in a while, have been battling poison oak, , dealing with problems at work and now today got stung between the eyes by a hornet that is making its hive in the foundation of the house we are currently renting.

Molly, and Matty are doing great. Now they share everything even the same bone. just chew on opposite ends. And they have taken to sleeping in the same crate. And of course it has to be the smaller of the two. I guess they like to be close.

Merlin and Marissa are doing great. But lately Marissa seems to think she belongs to the neighbors and won't come home. So I have decided tho it seems cruel to just not let her or Merlin go outside till we get the house built and are moved out into the country where the nearest neighbor is a mile a way . I have a feeling she feels pushed out by all the activity of the dogs. she just got to where she would go nose to nose with Molly and then Matty showed up and now the 2 dogs run and tussle through the house, have taken over the living room and are now sleeping in the bedroom which used to be a dog free zone. So I just think Marissa decided she could just live outside free from the roaming dogs and visit me on the patio. I decided differently for her.

Didn't do any catching up Hope everyone is doing Okay. Jules how is the arm?

Many people seem to want racial and cultural diversity up to a point. I believe that true inclusivity removes that point.
Dr. Leon Spencer

Good Morning. Another hot one. yesterday I decided to wait till today to do laundry since I was going into work early. I got up this morning and realized I don't have any stockings. Laundry is in the washer when it is done I'll hang it out.

Because if there is an adverse reaction to a med, I'll likely have it, the Dr. won't give me meds unless he has to. The only pain med I've taken in about 30 years in ibuprofen. Even with car accidents and a broken bone.

Herdlady, have a great vacation!!

Mary Anne I've tried everything for the pain and nothing really helps with it. Plain old aspirin seems to dull the ache but I've got Tramadol, Codeine Forte (which killed the tooth abcess pain) Iboprofen etc etc and nothing seems to work. So I'm just putting up with the pain at the moment, not much else I can do.

I'm trying to get as much done just in case I actually get the operation. I took Maggs down today for her acupuncture and rehab and I'll take Steve to his respiratory doctor on Thursday.

Hope the weather over there is leveling out, too much rain or heat is hard to take

It's really cool here today, felt like fall instead of late July. No rain for us though, just sprinkles.

Mary Alice, I hope your feet quit hurting so bad!

Janette, good luck on your 5K, sounds like you're doing great!

Sometimes my Jake acts like he wants to go out in t-storms & he's scared of them, I don't know why he'll act like he wants out, but scared all at the same time.

Jules, that will be hard for your brothers, but you'll have to do what's best for you. So they put a brace on you for that; I wondered what they did.

Jules, will be glad to hear what the doctor has to say. What do your brothers think of you having the surgery and being incapacitated? How are you dealing with it now? Have you had any relief from the pain?

Janette, my son has been doing the Warrior Dash for a few years but it was just for fun. Last year he set a goal and made it and he's been working on beating that goal for this year's race. It's also a 5k. I plan on going to the race to cheer him on. I like your time - doing great!!!

MaryAlice, have you had any improvement in your feet?

LILYDOG, sounds like Sophie doesn't need one of the thunder shirts!!!

We've been having a few strong showers off and on. Not long but enough to water all the plants with a really good downpour. The rain was hitting the windows so hard that Daisy moved to the middle of the house away from all windows and doors.

thanks FLOWERDALEJEWEL, I am doing better and better with my running and timing. I was finally able to run the whole mile today and did it in 15 mins, so about 4 mph. Then after that I took my dog for a long fast walk for 35 mins too. plus lots of exercise before and after that too.

You were lucky Mary Alice, the cast they put on me was from my toes right up to my knee.

If I have an operation on my biceps tendon I'll be wearing a brace or similar. I'm still thinking about whether I'll have the operation or not, I'll have a talk to the surgeon on Tuesday. If I do have it the two fellas here will have some work to do because I'll not be able to do much

"We have to fight them daily, like fleas, those many small worries about the morrow, for they sap our energies."
– Etty Hillesum

Good morning No walk for Mutt and me this morning. It is raining. The weather person says we are so far in to the drought that it would have to rain everyday for a week or two to brake the drought, so I won't complain about a little rain.

Jules, The Dr said my brake was the kind that would heal its self. I could wear a book or a cast, depending how much pain I could deal with. Aug in Texas, no way I wanted a cast. With a boot I could take it off and take a bath if I didn't put any weight on it. DH had to drive me everywhere, but I was clean.

I remember when I broke my ankle, I barely felt it. Compared to all the sprains I've suffered the break was barely registerable. The only thing that irritated me was I couldn't have a bath or drive the car with the cast on, boy when I got it off I was so happy, so was my leg too I think somewhere between the break and the removal of the cast someone swapped Chewbaccas leg for mine!!

Mary Anne how maddening it would be not to be able get your information across to people. I hope you find a place to take both Mum and Dad very soon.

That's a cute story, Nellie, carrying around your pup in the basket! Nothing better for a conversation starter than a cute dog! I'm a shy person too, but when I see a cute dog in the stores that allow them, I'm inclined to speak to the owner & inquire about the dog.

I've seen those walkers with a seat, they would help if you had an injury like you had Mary Alice, or in your case too, Nellie. I think my dad's getting a little more at ease with his & more smooth in his movements.

Sorry you didn't have luck in your hunt, Mary Anne, I bet that was frustrating, especially since it wasted your time. Hope you have better luck in the future. I'm spent more time this week tracking down products/clothes of one kind or another to help dad with his rehab, it's mind boggling. I think I'm about done though, thank goodness!

Jules, that's encouraging news! I hope you do get on the schedule. I wouldn't want surgery either, but if that's what it takes, I can see why you would want to get it done & over with, so you could be on the mend.

Yep, lots of people want to talk about her. I used to be a shy person, but with an intro like a cute little doggy, I am not shy any more.

Kat, a basket is real handy on the walkers. One of my dad's friends didn't have one on his and dad was able to get him one. He was as excited as a little kid.

Nellie, I would love to see your little Yorkie in your basket. I'm sure you get lots of folks stopping to see her. How cute!!!

Jules, can't imagine how uncomfortable you must be. Hope this means that you'll get it taken care of soon. Are you able to sleep?

MaryAlice, that's a cute story and a great way to get around. lol

Little disappointed today. The place I visited could accommodate dad with no problem but they can't handle someone at mom's level of care. What a bummer and I want to say waste of time. Before I visit the next place I'm going to make sure they understand the level of care that mom needs. I've been working with A Place for Mom and obviously they didn't give out the correct information. A little tired tonight. Came back and trimmed bushes since it was still relatively cool compared to what we've had. Also wanted to get it done before the humidity picks up.

Good morning, Another hot one, I was off yesterday, tried to stay off my feet and woke this morning with m feet killing me, I'm off again today maybe I can do something with these feet.

When I broke my ankle, I couldn't put any weight on it at first, so couldn't even use crouches. I had one of those walkers with a seat. I would rest my leg on the seat and use it like a scooter. I got so good at getting around people said I broke my ankle skate boarding.

I remember when my Mum fractured her pelvis, she had the walker and insisted on having a basket on the front to be able to do something, even if it was only bringing a cup of tea from here to there. Nellie I could do with one of your walkers sometimes, walking all over the place doing the shopping etc can tire you out and somewhere to just "plonk" down when you get that way sounds pretty good to me.

Herdlady if you right click on a Spark name either on a thread or on the friend feed it'll give you a direct window to that person or page. It makes life easier especially if you are replying to blogs on the friend feed.

I had a phone call this morning from the local hospital and they have an appointment this Tuesday to a fracture clinic so hopefully I might get my operation within the 4 week window. I was surprised at how quick they replied, I don't really want an operation but I do want an arm strong enough to do the things I need to do around here, so it looks like the only way to go.

Have been really tired today and the Tramadol the doctor prescribed for the pain isn't helping me stay awake. I made some Smoked Salmon patties for dinner tonight so they can have them on toast or in a bun, that's about all I had in me as far as dinner was concerned.

I use a walker with wheels that also has a seat. I hadn't been using the seat, so I got a largish purse like thing I put on the seat that holds various things I habitually carry with me, such as my actual purse, my water bottle, and some other odds and ends. It also has a small wire basket in front that I use to put a little plastic basket covered with soft material for my Yorkie Patience who is my service dog. She rides in that very nicely.

Jules, I hope you can get something done sooner rather than later. Hate to see you having to suffer with that pain. That is aggravating to wait that long & then be told dr isn't even there yet. Seems that's all too common these days.

I thought I was the only one who had to open a 2nd window & refresh my memory as to who said what. emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the tips on the walker. I was looking to get a basket for it already because he tries to carry things around & can't manage it. Have to look for ways to decorate it with stickers or something.

Kay, glad to hear your dad is back home. Jules and MaryAlice are right about spiffing up his walker. I wish you could see what some of the folks do at the nursing home - especially around the holidays. Today was also cool again here since the front stalled and the clouds stayed. Another "sleep with the windows open night" again tonight!!!!

Jules, that has got to be painful. Hope you can get it taken care of soon and get some relief. Has the doctor said what kind of time frame you have that you need to get it repaired in? Feel sorry for you and Steven. I know I would have been upset also. Can't believe they didn't say something right from the start.

Well, HERD, the secrets now open. I also open another tab and toggle back and forth. I use to try and remember but that just didn't work.

Am back to visiting places to move mom and dad down from ME. Spent 3 + hours at one today and will be doing the same at another tomorrow. Have about a half dozen more I will visit and then decide which ones to revisit. So if you don't see me on spark much, that's why.

I don't know how you guys manage to keep up with all the things that are going on with all the folks on this sight. It just boggles my mind! You guys are awesome. I manage a few things, but to list them all and the Sparker's name, whew! I know there is a lot going on, some I can relate to, cuz it's a been there, done that. But I can't remember who, or when. Do you take notes? Good luck to all of you. Life sure happens and having support when it does helps a lot.

Good morning another hot one. we might not hit the tripled digits predated. Now the weather man says 99. Between the heat and my feet killing me, I don't expect to get much done. Some how the heat drains my even inside.

I don't need a walker, but I do use a staff. I don't like canes and the staff is a good alternative. I get natural ones, I have found some really nice ones that get lots of comments. I even plan my Halloween costumes around a staff. Yes personalizing health aids makes them yours and even though you need them for daily living, they feel like a part of you.

Frosty and cold this morning, I was going to get up early but turned over and slept in a bit!!

Went to the hospital with Steven today for an appointment at 1pm, the doctor hadn't even turned up by 1.45pm so I told the lady at the reception that we were going and to make another appointment. She said that he had been held up to which I said that as rude as it was to keep your patients waiting that amount of time it was even ruder of her not to let them know why they were sitting there an hour past their appointment date. I've asked our local doctor for a referral to another cardiac specialist for a second opinion, Steven and I am tired of ambivalent doctors that don't seem to care.

I've put my name in for surgery but it could take ages to go through the public channel, I'll have to check and see how much it would be if I paid from my own pocket, it's that or leave it with a thread of tendon attached. At the moment I'd be happy with the pain going, it aches something terrible.'

Kay when your Dad gets his walker you want to "personalize" it, you know put clever bum stickers on it or a sign with something clever on it so he doesn't feel decrepit having to use it.

Hope everyone over there is having a great week, hopefully with a better weather.

I had my windows open today too, Mary Anne, it was great!! Actual fresh air, and nice cool, low humidity air at that! We have one more nice day, but a little warmer before heat & humidity come back.

Well, got dad home & settled in, he was glad to get home. So far, so good, he is using his walker, although it barely fits through some of his doorways. They could change the wheels, but that would make it easier to tip.

Glad to see you made progress toward a more normal schedule, Mary Alice.

Jules, ouch, just reading your description of the event made me hurt. Hope whichever way you choose gives you some relief.

Thanks for all the comments on my dad! You guys are a great bunch & the encouragement sure helps brighten my day! emoticon emoticon

Kay, hope things work our for your dad and that he uses the walker. Most times it's a matter of pride but safety is more important.

Jules a dear friend had something similar to that accept it was in her heal. She ended up having the surgery since the alternative was not good. Hope things work out for you.

RuthAnn, some of them have been very special to my folks. When mom could still talk at times and one day when she was really talkative, one of them called and put her on the phone. Can't tell you how much it warmed my heart. Last February when they rushed her to the hospital with pneumonia, two of he CNAs gave up their dinner to go spend it with her since they were so worried. The RN is the one that told me. I do understand what you're saying but since dad's in the assisted side, he keeps on eye on things. If he tell me something is wrong, I get involved. It's just hard doing this from such a distance.

MaryAlice, does this mean that you're actually going to have a normal schedule???? How great that would be.

Would you believe that I actually have all the windows open in the house tonight!!!! Won't last since the heat and humidity are back tomorrow but it sure feels great.

Close my shutters and give me quiet and heaven is very near, wherever I may be situated. My mind to me a kingdom is.
Abigail Alcott

Good morning. Monday I wrote the zone manager a note and asked another manager to put it in her office. Yesterday I asked her if she had a chance to look into my schedule. She said she never got the note. I wrote her another. I bugged her whenever I saw her all day, which wasn't very often, somedays she is around all shift and others I hardly see her. As she left to clock out I asked again. She said "oh that is why I have this piece of paper in my pocket." Well she changed my schedule. I'm working 2P to 9P.

Mary Ann ,, Sorry to say I would be checking on those girls that treat you so nice. Most times I find and I found this when I was a CNA,also the ones that are all nicey nicey to the families are the very ones that aren't doing their jobs correctly , and a lot of times the patient thinks "oh that girl is so nice or my family really likes them I don't want to get them in trouble" and they say nothing against the ones that are neglecting them. And I'm not saying this is the situation just telling what I have observed over the years.

Jules sorry to hear about your arm,, I would have the surgery , especially if it is the dominant arm ,, those sort of surgeries can be performed with minimal invasion, and minimal scarring. So I would check into it if I were you. Good luck at the doctors visit today.

Kay Glad to hear your dad is doing better. Its really tough getting someone to use a walker at first ,, Its like they are losing a part of their independence ,and becoming decrepit and OLD Good Luck.

Mary Alice , Thats tough when you can't do the hours any more and the management don't see that way. Thats just another reason for me to dislike the Walmart corporation a little more. I absolutely hate shopping there and this one in the town I live in now is absolutely atrocious. I once got stopped on my way out the store just after leaving a register because I was to friendly with the cashier and they had to check almost everything in my bags against my receipt because they thought she was giving things away to her friends ,, I wasn't her friend just idly chatting with her till we were done . .

THEHERDLADY ; Its scary the kind of people our society is turning out in young ones these days. I really don't want to be around when most of these pampered children get to be my age. Sorry to say but this don't spank , don't correct ,, let them do what ever they want society is really killing humanity.

Any everyone Just trying to catch up here , and its time to take Molly and Matty out

Matty got her heartworm test and bowel problems checked out yesterday ,, no heartworms so she got the 6 month shot which is what we should have done with Molly. and didn't. And her doc seems to think she has a nervous stomach she gets diarrhea a lot , so he gave me some probiotics to put in her food because I can't get her to eat yogurt , she won't even eat the flavored kind.

any way have a Great day everyone.

Kay it's good that your Dad can go home. I don't know why older people don't like using the walkers, if that was the option for me instead of being put in a home, the walker would be my best friend.

Kay last week when I was picking up Steven from the hospital (at 4am!!) I thought I unlocked the garage roller door, I grabbed hold of it and pulled. This terrible scrunching noise happened and the door was still closed. The tendon is hanging on by a thread so to speak and it aches something terrible. If I have surgery it has to be soon, apparently the tendon and muscle tend to shrink if they stay in the same place for a while. I can do things but the strength will never be the same again and it will still hurt doing certain things. I've never had an operation, in fact never really been in hospital for anything serious before so I'm not fussed with operations.

Good to see some of you have had some rain, ours has stopped for a while, so as long as it does not get frosty I'm happy.

Got my pressure canner from Amazon today, but am too tired to check it out. I'll be at the hospital and doctors tomorrow so I can't see me doing it then either. When I'm up to par, I'll be looking forward to seeing what I can...... well can!!

Hi all, seems like ages since I've been here! Was visiting dad in the mornings & our church was having Vacation Bible School in the evenings, so that left no time. Dad will get released from hospital swing bed therapy tomorrow. He's still kind of shaky, but they're sending him home with a walker, if he sticks to using it. He'd better because if he falls again, they may tell us he can't go home again. They said MRI showed no other damage or bleeding; just a clot or placque broke lose & went through causing this stroke. He has severe hardening of the arteries, so nothing to be done there.

Mary Alice, Hope you get better hours, but knowing WalMart that probably won't be easy.

Jules, how did your tendon damage happen? Ouch! Sounds painful.

Sandi, have a good visit with your family!

We didn't get much rain out of the front that went through before it cooled off. Just a few tenths of an inch. Could use more. Trying to can beans in between visits and appointments!

Jules, sorry to hear about your dilemma. Do they have any idea how much of your strength you will regain if you don't have the surgery?

MaryAlice, I can't believe your zone manager is that uncaring that she doesn't follow through and check all the schedules. Hope things work out for you. Those turn arounds have got to be really tough.

We had one heck of a downpour last night. Someone in the distance was having a terrible thunder and lightening storm. We could hear it here the sky was just constantly lit up. Some places got almost 7 inches of rain. What crazy weather everyone is having.

“Kindly words, sympathizing attentions, watchfulness against wounding men's sensitiveness--these cost very little, but they are priceless in their value.”

- F.W. Robertson

Good morning we are heading for triple digits. Mutt and I went for a 40 min walk, Mutt is eating Paws, doggie ice cream, and I have frozen yogurt.

Next week I have another turn around. i went to HR and told them I wanted to change my availability. They reminded me this would cut my hours, Wal-Mart doesn't like it if you aren't anytime. I told I knew and that is why I waited so long, but I was too old for turn arounds, they could give them to younger folks. HR told me my zone manager's job was to make sure NO ONE had turn arounds. I asked why I had them once a month, my next one is next week. She told me to ask my zone manager. Her response, I keep forgetting to check Customer Service, I've just been checking cashiers. I've told many managers my displeasure with turn arounds, above and below the zone manager for 2 years and this is first anyone has told me there is someone that checks to make sure they don't happen. I'm not a happy camper. so much for customer service, turn arounds don't make good employees.

Would love some of the rain. Send it my way, thanks. Sorry about the arm, Jules. A friend of mine had shoulder surgery just yesterday. It is an option, but can they tell you for sure if you will be able to regain the lost strength after? Things like that tend to be a crap shoot, cuz there just aren't any promises.

Us "older" folks grew up with a different work ethic than the young ones behind us. My son's generation seems to be a 50/50 split, but the odds go down as the worker gets younger. Pretty scary stuff in any line of the health field.

Have a great day, Team. I am off to the races.

Take some of our rain .. please!! It's mud and slops here at the moment

I'm really p'od at the moment as I had my ultrasound today and apparently I've snapped my biceps tendon, what's left of the tendon is hanging by a thread so to speak. The only thing they can do is leave it and what's not attached will shrink back and my strength will no longer be as good or have an operation to have it re-attached. I've never been in hospital for any operation and am not really in a hurry to make a first time. It was such a stupid accident.

Mary Anne there are many older workers out there that would be great in jobs, I just don't understand why employers won't even consider them.

RuthAnn, my mom has been in skilled care since 2007. Some of the CNA's are like Nellie and do a great job. Some have terrible work ethics and it concerns me. My dad is in the assisted living side so he can keep tabs on mom's care. I am back to looking to get them both down here in PA (they are in ME). I need to be able to be more visible. Some of the CNA's have become like family and when they're on, I know I don't have to worry. We almost lost mom twice last year and these girls were my angels.

Jules, hope that Steven has a better night and can get the mask to fit better. Keep talking to them about the psi's if you don't fee they are correct. Good thing your brothers have you to look out for them.

As for Daisy, we always use to laugh at Ms Molly and how she always wanted the attention but Daisy takes the cake. The kids couldn't get over how much of a talker she is and my daughter kept getting here to talk. lol She must have really missed them. When I went up to strip the bed, she was taking her nap on it so I just let her be.

MaryAlice, when I was an HR Manager and summer arrived, we always had mothers calling to see how old someone needed to be to work for us. When I was explain to one person the age requirements, she stated that she was calling for herself and she was in her 60's and was concerned we wouldn't hire someone of her age. Actually, after she had been working for a while, we were having a good laugh about it and I told her that I preferred to hire folks at the other end of the spectrum since the younger ones really didn't want to work. Not all of them but many.

Can't believe that after a month of rain in June, I am now hoping for rain. With all this heat that we've had, the ground is so dry it's cracking. Crazy weather!!!!

Hi Everyone, just checking in. My DD and family will be here tomorrow for a week so I won't be on much. I've also read everyone's posts, I enjoy catching up when I haven't been on for awhile.

Have a great week!

Good morning. Going to be a hot one. Mutt and I will be going out soon for a short walk. Looks like indoor exercises for this week.

I think the problem is that parents don't think children should do chores, so when they get a job they don't know how to work. That and they expect to do just what they think they were hired for. They either don't read or don't understand "and any task assigned by manager". I can't tell you how many times I've heard I was hired as a cashier I wasn't hired to pick up my isle and wide down my register.

Jules hope your DH finds what works.

Our problems these days is we're breeding a whole new generation of idiots and lazy ones at that. If you can't download an app for it, it's not worth worrying about.

I know that things are different these days in the way we learn things, I mean I wouldn't expect people to be still using the abacus, but you still need to know how to do things without having to resort to the easy way out. The worst part is by allowing them to operate on the "that's good enough" level is depriving them of a life of self sufficiency. Goodness knows what will happen when "Mommy" isn't there anymore to do things for them.

Steve tried on a variety of masks, he really wanted a nasal one but no matter what one he tried and how tight they did the chin strap, it just wouldn't work properly. The one he has is a good one but considering the few masks they do have, it's hard to get one size to fit all so to speak. He has fixed it slightly by using Aloe Vera gel (from the plant we have in the garden) to help make a seal. I still think it needs a few psi's of air removed it's way too high. All in all last night wasn't too bad and I think it'll take a few nights before he gets comfortable.

Mary Anne, Daisy sounds like a real smoocher. I can just see her going from one lap to the other.

I know when I was a CNA, there was one other one that frequently I was teamed up with who wanted to rush through all the people we were to check on and care for at night. Finally, one night she was complaining about how long I was taking and the nurse overheard and said she would separate us and have her take one part of the assigned area and I was to take the other part. She looked horrified and said she couldn't handle Mrs. So and So since she weighed so much. I said I could handle her (even though I was about half the size of the other CNA). I think that nurse respected me for that. What was funny is that the part I got had a lot of people who needed to have their beds changed under them and to be thoroughly cleaned, but I still got it done in reasonable time.

And the thing is everyone, What I get so frustrated about is these young adults, (children at least mentally) are what are in the nursing homes taking care of your loved ones. And when I try to make them do the job that they are suppose to do and care for these patients like I would want to be cared for in a nursing home. I get reprimanded and told to be patient ,, and understanding with the staff, and I quote" You cant expect them to do the job like we did it when we were Aides." Why Can't I ? Has nursing standards lowered that much that you can't expect a patient to be well cared for ?

Any way ,, blowing off steam. Have a great day everyone.

My daughter and her hubby went back to Rochester today and made for a lonely house. The kitties are looking for those extra laps that have been here. Daisy even slept between them the other night. I had warned them that she was even more of a "me, me, me" kitty then Ms Molly was. We had some good laughs since she would just go from lap to lap and she's a real talker. PolyDactyl just waited for her turn to play.

I've read through the posts but can't remember much.

Jules, hope your arm is better and that things get worked out for Steven.

Kay, how is your dad doing? Praying that things have improved.

Sandi, you must be so excited! Have a fun time while your family is there.

RuthAnn, work ethics aren't what they use to be. It can be so frustrating and the sympathy only goes so far.

Heading for bed early tonight...didn't get much sleep while the kids where here. Have a great night everyone.

RuthAnn, everytime i think I've heard it all, someone comes up with a new one. The most recant was when a manager asked a 20 something to sweep the floor. She told the manager she couldn't, when asked why she said because she didn't know how, mommy always did it.

Jules did he get the exact mask he had in the sleep study? it may be the mask ,, My DH went through 3 before he found one that worked for him.

MaryAlice,, I came home from work and took Molly and Matty walking it was nice cool and no rain in sight ,, 25 minutes away from the house and it started raining, not a downpour, just drizzling enough to make it a bit uncomfortable and get us wet. But we finished the walk and came in and dried off. But all night it was one of those Murphy's law nights. Right off the bat I had a girl call in with Oh i ran out of gas I'm gonna be late, 2 minutes into this conversation it was can i just call in for tonight, that went to boohooing and crying about how she got no sleep because her boyfriend was in jail. then when I wouldn't give in and say okay you can stay home she was all the sudden struck down with vomiting and diarrhea and thinks she has the flu all in a matter of 15 minutes. I ended up with 3 call ins , her not coming in and 6 aides to care for 110 patients. GRrrrrrrrr this younger generation kills me with this ,, I want you to pay me but I don't want to work.

Any way have a great day every one .

Jules, my hubby had to have several adjustments to his machine before it worked correctly for him. Hopefully they will get Steven's straightened out so he can rest well.

We are back in Tallahassee until July 31. Our DD and family fly in Tuesday. I'm praying all will go well and they will get here safely and without the delays sometimes experienced with flying!! We haven't seen them in a year!

This will be a busy time but wanted to stop by to say Hi!!!

Good morning, I had today all planed out. i was going for a walk with Mutt, wash sheet, and wash Mutt. I woke up to the crack of thunder. I let Mutt out back, went to the bathroom to do my thing and let Mutt back in and he was already soaked. Time to rethink what I'm doing.

Rainy and cold here today, did some washing and that's about it. My arm is still aching so I'll see the doctor tomorrow and I might get an ultrasound done to see if any damage has been done.

Can't say that Steven's first night on the CPAP machine was spectacular, the air kept trying to escape the face mask. He has the highest air pressure available for his machine and I think it's just too high. A couple of PSI or whatever they measure it in lower than what he's on would be way better. I'll have to ring the sleep lab tomorrow and ask if they can do this.

Q8. that is wonderful that your rescue has a new home to go to with plenty of room to run. That is a shame that someone didn't take care of getting her nails cut, how painful for her. I know she appreciates all you've done for her.

It is hard for our pets to walk on hot pavement. Some people don't think about that!

We made it back to Florida today. Will be here for 10 days while our DD and family fly in for a visit. Can't wait to see them. Will try and check in while they are here but it won't be much!!!

Happy Weekend everyone!

Took Molly and Matty for a walk around the neighborhood, only walked 30 minutes today just to hot and they have to walk on the pavement so we cut it short today.

Hope everyones weekend is going good.

Every thing beautiful in its time,
From the hour when the stars of the morning chime,
To the sunset glow, when the vesper ray
Shoots through the veil of the closing day.
In the heavens above, on the earth below,
In the forest’s murmur, the river’s flow,
Through every season, in every clime,
All things are beautiful in their time.

Just popping in. We have a rescue dog at the house which takes up a lot of time. Had the groomer in to give her a make over. Some of her nails were an inch long and many were curled back poking into her paws. She has much more energy walking now. Think her feet must have been very sore. Her feet are still a bit tender after 2 years of not being outside, she doesn't like to walk in the afternoon when it is very hot here. She laid down the other day to get all 4 feet off the ground. She has also lost a 1/2 kilogram since she arrived. I went out one day and the neighbour said that the dog barked the whole time I was gone. So I can't really go anywhere unless someone else can be home or else the neighbours will be disturbed. She already has a new home in BC to go to. They have an acreage and 2 other dogs. She doesn't know how great the rest of her life is going to be. She leaves here Aug 1st.

We will be leaving the cabin tomorrow to go back to Tallahassee for 10 days. Our DD and family are coming from Colorado for a week, then we have my DH's family reunion the first weekend of Aug. then will be coming back up to the mountains!

Won't be able to be on SP much for the next week or so but will try to check in when I can!

The heart is the first feature of working minds.
Frank Lloyd Wright

Good morning. I'm trying to get it together to take Mutt for a walk, my feet are killing me and I din't work yesterday.

When I put lilies in my pond I put 1 pink lilly and 1 yellow. As the years went by the yellow took over the pond and I saw less and less of the pink till I never saw a pink flower. Some of you remember in the fall I said the lilly pads where so thick I couldn't see the flowers so I pulled all the lilies. Well I had pulled one bulb out of the tangled mess of roots and bulbs and this spring tossed it in the pond. The lilly grow and had loads of flower buds, yesterday I went out and I have a pond covered with PINK flowers. My only thought is that the yellow bloomed earlier in the year when there were fewer lilly pads and the lilly pads were too thick later in the year for the pink flowers to surface.

Several people have suggested I de claw Freyja. She is an indoor cat, but has been known to sneak out to explore the outside. I didn't know how they de clawed cats, but had been told cats know they are missing one of their defenses and that effected their self esteem. I want a happy kitty.

Kind of tired this morning ,, I worked last night after 4 hours of sleep, I got home yesterday from work and we went straight out to the farm to get those trees cut up, that they bulldozed down for the new house, We cut wood, stacked it hauled it , and all till 330 pm yesterday , then I came home showered, ate and went to bed. And have to do it all again today , just waiting for DH to wake up .

I had a cat declawed once , will never do it again. She could still hold her own in a cat fight , tho I don't know how. but she could chase even the biggest of cats out of the yard.

Jules glad to hear your arm is doing better, I am really sore and stiff this morning from cutting wood, toting and bending and all that mess yesterday . but It has to get down somehow.

Sandi ,, My DH has one too ,, and I sleep more peacefully now , when he uses it , same thing he doesn't snore any more.

Have a great day everyone

Only a quick chat tonight, so tired after today. Got Steve his mask, now he looks like Darth Vader!!!

It's been raining here all night and all day today, one good thing is I don't have to water the garden.

We also had a thunderstorm last night so it was a good test for Maggs' thunder shirt. She was reasonably quiet, until the really loud stuff started. She shook but it wasn't as bad as it normally is so I think it was a reasonable success. I was thinking of getting one for Pussass because he suffers from anxiety whenever there's thunder.

MaryAlice, I'm glad you found a good pair of shoes for your work, you really need ones with support.

Jules, my DH has a CPAP machine and he sleeps great with it and the best thing is that he doesn't snore anymore!!!! Glad your arm is better.

My friend and I went shopping at some little antique shops and had a great time but I'm very tired. The heat really tires me out!!!

Men are judged by what is given, not what is withheld.

Good morning, I'm late getting on. I'm off today. Mutt and I went for an early walk. My computer had a problem, so I decided to turn it off and go to town with DH. The shoes I wear for work are starting to split and with all the foot problems I'm having the last thing I need is bad shoes. Besides I can wear any shoes I want to work, but if they aren't in good condition I'm out of dress code, and that is a real bad thing.I found a pair of running shoes that look kind of funky, cost more then I meant to spend, but when I walked around the store I didn't feel like I was putting my foot on the floor. Hope spending more gets me a better pair of shoes.

Mary Alice I have done that before, gone off on the wrong road and ended up God knows where or "woop woop" as we call it here.

Mary Anne I can't imagine why anyone would declaw a cat, the whole thing sounds simply barbaric.

Kay I'm sorry your Dad is hovering between home and a nursing home. I'm sure nobody wants to go into a nursing home no matter how much you need help

My arm is a little better this morning but still very sore. I'll wait until Monday when I see the Doctor before I think about an ultrasound.

Steve had his second sleep study on Tuesday night and was fitted for a mask for his CPAP machine. They supplied the CPAP machine for nothing so all we have to do is buy the mask, which we will do tomorrow. I'm amazed at how much Steven changed his thoughts about the machine, he said that he had a great night sleep and woke up feeling very refreshed after they sorted through the right masks. I'll be looking forward to seeing how he does on the machine after a few weeks.

Peace and long life - Jules

I'm just trying to catch up too!
Kay, I do pray your Dad can keep from falling. That is what happened to my MIL, she fell one too many times and now is in a nursing home. Her mind comes and goes so I don't know if she really knows where she is. It is so hard on them to have to move from their homes.

Jules, I sure hope you will get some relief from whatever you did to your arm. I do pray it's not serious.

I hate to hear about all the kitties getting declawed. My neighbor had that done to hers, I didn't realize it was so bad on them.

Forgive me for not replying on everyone's comments, I've got to get to bed.
Have a great Thursday!

Hi all, just trying to catch up a bit!! My dad is holding his own, still not quite sure of the extent of the damage, haven't got all the reports in. They're keeping him in the hospital in swing bed therapy until they decide he's steady enough to go home. They're really putting him through his paces. But they have told us unless he quits falling & coming into the ER, he might have to go a nursing home or assisted living. I don't want to be the one to tell him that. Please continue to pray for him. Thanks for your prayers & good thoughts!

It's so hot & humid here, the heat index is over 100. There are heat warnings out every day. My garden looks like fall, stuff is turning yellow. I think it's because it was cooler & rainy, now it's sizzling hot & humid, and no rain. The ground underneath is still damp though. I hope this doesn't kill my plants because they look so nice.

RuthAnn, hope your Matty works out with your other dog! That's great that you're trying!

Jules, I hoped you'd be better by now! Take care!

Nancy, just reading about poor Louie made me cringe. I always thought Ms Molly had an issue since she was forever washing her front feet and it seemed to impact her walking. Now, Daisy was also declawed but seems fine. God bless PolyDactyl with all those toes. Just thankful she keeps her claws retracted since Daisy is declawed. I can't imagine doing that. I just stopped a friend from getting it done. She thought they just removed the claws didn't know they take the entire first joint!!!!

Jules, really sorry to hear. Hope whatever you did heals fast and the pain goes away fast. You'll just have to take it easy....like that's going to happen. lol

RuthAnn, Matty really does sound special. I hope that things work out so you can keep her. Love the story about the bed!!!

MaryAlice, glad you finally made it home. At night and in the rain - not a good time to get lost.

The kids are about half way here. Don't know when I'll get to check in since they'll be here until Sunday. They are finally going to get to meet Daisy. My son gets a big kick out of her since she came when you call and she's talking all the way. She really loves attention!!! Have a good week everyone.

Solitude shared with animals has a special quality and rarely turns into loneliness.
May Sarton,

Goog morning, I think it rained off and on most of yesterday kind of hard to tell when you are in customer service in Wal-Maet. Last night I stopped to get some fish, the ones that swim, between the dark and the rain I thought I was on one road and when I realized that the road I was on didn't look right even for the dark and rain I discovered I was on a road I never heard of, and had no idea how I got on the road, so couldn't back track. my 20 min drive took over an hour.

I'm glad the vet said she was a "mixed breed" makes life a lot easier.

I am in major pain here at the moment, I was up with the crows this morning (4.00am) to pick up my brother from the sleep laboratory and I thought I opened the garage roller door, I pulled it up and it wasn't open. I have wrenched something in my elbow (made a terrible scrunching sound) and the pain is intense. I went to the doctor and he checked it out I doesn't look like I've torn my tendon, but I've definitely injured something. If it's worse tomorrow I will go and get an ultrasound. I feel like such an idiot and I hate the fact that I just can't do anything. Goodness only knows what sort of sleep I'll have tonight.

I don't know how long I'll be on Sparks today, my arm hurts with every little thing.

Maryann its really weird she just really fits in here. Its really hard to explain, Although she does bark at the least little sound , the cats seem to tolerate her really well, Molly loves her till it comes to sharing toys or Mom and Dad, She's really intelligent, very loving, and as I said before, potty trained , leash trained , has basic commands down. And LOL has even taken over the closet pet bed, which started out as Marissa and Merlins Which Merlin over took , then Molly took it from him , now Matty has it. And I'm not really a fan of Pitts. She just won me over. And you can just tell by her demeanor that someone has been mean to her. For a pit bull She is really timid, and somewhat shy.

Any way its late and I need to get some housework done.

Have a wonderful night every one.

Hi all, Rain came early today so it's dry now and believe it or not . . . COOL! It feels like mid 70's. Amazing! I'm sure it's very temporary.

Hearing about all the sad stories of these poor animals before they came to be with their forever homes and moms . . .it's just too sad :(

Mary Anne: the thought of your poor Daisy being chased or hit with a broom is horrible!
And poor Matty until RuthAnn came to the rescue.

I know my poor Louie-Boy was put through a lot. He had a botched declaw (if any declaw can be considered NOT a botch job). So he pulled all his hair out of his front legs. Just starting to grow back. Not to mention being punished for being sick . . . hence his running to hide under the bed whenever he gets sick.

These poor animals - you can only pray those people never had children. But these animals are the same as children to us. We love them the same as they are our family.

Bless all of you on this site for your love and care of these poor unloved animals. I know they're all getting plenty of love now :)

Blessings,
Nancy

RuthAnn, sounds like you're already in love with Matty and she has fit right in. Hope things work out. Seems like she is too good a dog to just have been dumped. Hope she knows how lucky she is to have found you.

MaryAlice, when we lived in MA, we were near horse farms. Folks didn't drop dogs but they did cats. Can't tell you how many I found homes for and that's how we got our little tuxedo kitty. He looked like a kitten but the vet felt he was probably about 3 years old.

Got the house cleaned and ran some errands. The heat and humidity just keeps climbing. I feel so bad for anyone working outside. Every time I try to do anything out there I am just drenched.....and that's before getting into the pool.

Well, we took Matty to the vet yesterday and they declared her a mixed breed canine of unkown origin , LOL,, she is in good health with only minor hook worms. and has already been spayed. I put an add on craigslist here, on Halo which is an animal rescue group here, left one with the vet in the lost and found book, and put an add in with Franklin county humane society. , the vet said it is custom if she is not claimed in 2 weeks , we did what we could and if we want to keep her there should be no legal recourse for any one claiming her. So now I have my fingers crossed no one claims her. Although I know she has to have someone out there missing her she is such a good girl.

Molly , Matty and I went for a 5 mile walk around the neighborhood this morning it took us an hour and 28 minutes but we made it with no problems. I think both dogs look forward to their walks.

I think maybe Marissa has had enough of the dogs and has decided she is moving outside. I cant get her to come in the house any more with out going out and picking her up then she wants to claw and try to get away the moment I touch the doorknob. She will come running up to me if I call her so shes not gone feral But has just decided she is an outdoor cat and doesn't have to come in. Of Course I still keep going out and dragging her in. I said when the house is built on the farm if she wants to be an outside cat there thats fine but for now she is an indoor outdoor cat.

Merlin is his usual , he comes in and goes out and rubs against both Molly and Matty , so he seems to not have any problems with either one of them.

Mollys mouth is healed she is back to her bones and chewing on stuff.

Have a great day today everyone

Kay, so sorry your dad is having so many difficulties. I'll pray for a full recovery!

Ruth Ann, I hope you can keep the pup - she must feel like she's in Heaven now.

Sandi - Glad to hear you and Zoey had a great time!

Total downpour last night! I was afraid the roof would fly off it was blowing so hard! Lily sat and looked out at the rain. I know she wanted to go back out on the lanai, but there was thunder and lightening and she would have just wanted back in. Louie doesn't have enough sense to "come in from the rain" however, and he would have made a game out of me trying to get him in ;)

"Talk" to you all soon - back to work for me . . .
Have a great day everyone!

Kay, sorry to hear about your dad. Keeping him and you in my prayers.

Nellie, I think you're right about Daisy. I always check to see where she is before I get the broom out.

Jules, hope the massage helped but sorr it left you with a headache.

RuthAnn. I do believe that Matty has found her angels. Hope things work out for you and her. She must be so relieved to have all those ticks off her.

Sandi, hope you and Zoey had a good time today.

MaryAlice, have your temps finally dropped some.? I heard that parts of Texas got some relief from the heat but now you need rain.

Well, the heat and humidity are in full swing here. They said that the nights will get to a low of 80!!!! Guess the AC will really be running this week.

Jules, I had just posted while you were posting. Glad to hear that you're feeling better. Just had to stop and think what time it is for you and it's the next day to boot!!!

I don't know, unless the dog is distinctly a pit bull, it could be a mix of anything. The only true way would to be genetically test it, maybe your insurance company will be happy to do that for you .......... NOT. I hope your vet helps as she sounds like she's a sweetie that really needs a home.

Feeling better today, I really think I spent too much time facing downwards yesterday, I'll have to tell the acupuncturist to space out the laying down next time.

Have to take Steven into the sleep studies unit tonight for his test and trial of the C PAP machine. Then I'll be up with the crows tomorrow to pick him up at 6.30am.

Wise sayings often fall on barren ground; but a kind word is never thrown away.”

Good Morning. We were to have storms yesterday and last night. We had some sprinkles. I wish it would rain already. All this cloud cover is holding pollutants in and my sinuses but it it.

Good luck with keeping the dog. My daughter found a brown and white pitt at the pound, but her apt complex wouldn't let her have a pitt. The pound wrote that it was a brown and white hound mix.

TMGS sure hope things work out for the pup, would sure hate for her to have to go to the pound. Of course, I would adopt all of them if I had the room and money!!

Kay, so sorry to hear your Dad has had a stroke, will be praying for him to regain strength and get better.

Jules, hope you are feeling better after a good night's sleep!

I'm meeting our fellow team member today. We are going to see if her new rescue and Zoey get along, they haven't met before. I'm hoping they do!!! We are meeting in a neutral place. They are both small dogs and usually Zoey doesn't have a problem with smaller dogs, just the big ones!!!!!

Have a good Monday and I'll check back in later!

Jules ,, Sorry I should have said other picture, I'm not sure what I can talk my vet into,, but hoping if I tell him we can't keep her unless , and if he don't she will have to go to the pound he might be inclined to deem her some sort of mixed breed mutt . She really doesn't look full blooded. shes a bit to small to be full.

Kay how's your dad doing? sorry to hear he is Ill.But now a days I have seen wonderful comebacks from stroke victims.

Maryann ,, my DH and I tag teamed her. I worked on her for a while then he would , then we would give it a break for a while as not to over whelm her. then one of us would start again, Then I think maybe the Frontline plus we dosed her with , took affect and some must have died and dropped off cause I found some on the floor. and in her bedding . But for being a stray dog she is very well mannered and trained.

Well I walked Molly and Matty today , it was a struggle the first 10 minutes but after everyone figured out there place , pace and what side of the human they were going to walk on we did OK . But Matty was tuckered out after 40 minutes so we cut it short and came home.

Kay I hope your Dad is doing OK. Strokes can be frightening to the person involved and to the family as well.

Ruth Ann I went to your page but couldn't see another pic of Matty except for the profile pic. I hope they don't label her a pit bull either, can't they call her an American Staffy?

I went to the acupuncturist today, she also gave me a massage, my first. I think I spent too long face down as I have a headache now, so I'll be just on Sparks for a short while and I'll go to bed.

Hope everyone is doing OK

I'm trying to catch up a little here; my dad had a mild stroke on Friday. It affected his eyesight, and his walking. They're keeping him in the hospital to do rehab this week, so I'm going back & forth with that. This is on top of his elbow & other problems.

Q8, glad to see you back! Missed you! That's great about you fostering!!

Jules, hope you're feeling better!

Mary Anne, know what you mean about weeds! They're taking over our garden, and it's so wet we can't get in to get rid of them, If we don't get any more rain, we might be able to get in & work on them.

emoticon Q!!!! Nice to see you back. What a kind soul you are to help out this pup. She must love being with you.

Jules, sorry to hear that you're under the weather. I hate the sleepless nights but I usually get up and read. It just takes the wind out of your sales for the next day.

MaryAlice, have you tried any of the inserts for your shoes? And, soaking your feet is a great idea. I got my mom one of the whirlpool foot baths when she was working and she always said it helped her.

RuthAnn, Matty is a cutie. That must have taken time and patients. I don't think I've ever seen that many ticks. Some times it makes you wonder when you bring in a new pet. Ms Daisy was afraid of the vacuum which is not unusual but when I get the broom out to sweep the kitchen floor, she also runs. Also seems to be afraid of newspapers. Makes me wonder why.

Nancy, our rain has finally stopped but the heat and the humidity will be in the "danger zone" by tomorrow afternoon lasting for the week. It wasn't really hot today but the air was thick with humidity. Yuk! PolyDactyl didn't even feel like walking this afternoon.

Sandi, is it cooler at least? I had watched the weather channel and seen that you were getting some rain.

Did get out there and pull some weeds. With the ground being so wet, it makes pulling them easy but they have also been multiplying at a fast rate. Little buggers!!! My daughter and son in law will be here in Wednesday. So looking forward to that so not sure how much I'll be on spark. They'll finally get to meet Daisy.
