We've missed you, Mary Anne!!! So glad you're able to hold your head up!! That had to have been bothersome & hard to keep up. Sorry that you're up for another injection; that's probably the last thing you want; more messing about with your eye(s). Hope you can get to sleeping better too.

Mary Alice, sounds like inventory is a really fun time!

Worked outside quite a bit today as you never know when it going to rain again so I'm late Sparkin' & completely zonked.

Faith and persistency are life’s architects, while doubt and despair bury all under the ruins of any endeavor.

Good morning, Last night was something else. No we didn't have that many customers and none of the customers were nasty. In fact sever were very complementary. Today is inventory and managers were running around do this do that and while you are at it do the other thing. One manager asked if I would mind going for a walk. I told her if it was under 6 miles I would do it for her I spent a good bit if time walking around the store looking at those strips they hang from the shelfs trying to find discontinued products. My manager held it together pretty good considering she got there at 7 in the morning and they told her to leave at 10 that night. I think I would have lost it before then. Last year I was a cashier during inventory and just did what i always do. I'm off today and since I can't use my staff at work and I was walking on concrete, my feet say I'm off them to.

Mary Anne good to see you back, not good however is the bung eyes, hope they get better very soon.

Sandi, I can imagine NOTHING getting done if me and my Sparkfriends got together.

Have to take Steve to the Doctor tomorrow, he has a gurgly, upset tummy, I think he have either picked up a common parasite or a virus of some sort.

Did a big beef stew tonight for dinner enough for planned leftovers, so tomorrow I'll have the leftover Moussaka I made the other day and then I'll have the stew for another night, that way I can spend most of the day outside to get some things done.

Mary Anne, so glad you are able to get back on for a bit anyway. Sorry you are still not able to sleep very well. Surely Daisy and Poly will soon be getting along!!! Hope your appointment with the surgeon goes well tomorrow, can't believe you are going to have to have another injection. Will be praying all will be good for you.

emoticon everyone!!!!

I'm finally able to hold my head up again instead of looking at the floor. Sleeping is still an issue but "this too shall pass". I see the surgeon tomorrow and also need to get an injection in my left eye. This could be interesting since I'll have two bum eyes! lol

I've tried to read through some of the posts.

MaryAlice, so sorry to hear about Kellie. I have a friend who has a daughter that is bi-polar. As long as she's on her meds, she's fine. The thing is to make sure she takes them. Keeping your family in my prayers.

Sandy emoticon that you are recovering from your surgery. Please take care and don't try to do too much too fast. Let "nurse" Charles take care of you and snuggle with Zoey.

Jules, sorry to hear that you're still not up to par. Hope you've gotten some rest. Lost the sound of the winter tomatoes. The kids got me a new Aero Garden for Christmas and I've been eating cherry tomatoes for weeks.

Hope everyone else is doing fine. Still having some issues with Daisy and her growling at Poly. Funny, according to the paperwork of her previous family, she was not a lap cat. She'd be happy if she could sit on my lap all day and enjoyed me not being able to do much but sit with my head down. PolyDactyl is glad I can sleep on my side instead of face down - I can pet her again during the night. since she's always snuggled up to me.

Have really missed all of you!!!! emoticon emoticon

Jules, wish I lived closer, we could "rest" together!! I don't know how much we would rest as we would be talking the whole time!!

The doctor said I was doing well after my surgery. He changed the bandage and gave me a "shoe" to wear, not a fashion statement though!!! He said I needed to keep taking the pain meds as long as I need them and to stay off my foot as much as possible. That is going to limit me for sure!!!

Hope you all are having a good Monday!

I hope you continue to take your pain killers as prescribed Sandi, a lot of recoveries are set back by not taking your prescribed meds.

Must admit I took it easy today, I was tired last night and I'm tired of going to bed tired. I know that sounds silly

Winter tomatoes, yum, hope it works, Jules! That would be awesome because that is the veggie (or fruit) that I miss most. You can't find a decent one around here in the winter except for the rare occasion.

Hope all your friends are okay, Mary Alice! It's that time of year when it heats up, you don't know what you'll get. It's supposed to heat up to 80 here this week; we'll see. Then, of course, rain the rest of the week. We've had 7 + inches so far this month, but it's not as bad as those who had all the snow then rain.

Hi Everyone,
Well, I only took one pain pill and that was a mistake, my foot is really hurting right now. I will definitely be taking two at dinner!!!

Pretty day here but very warm. I haven't gotten outside except for walking out on the porch since my surgery!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Good Morning. last night we had quite a storm. The electric blinked at work a couple of times. Just enough so all the alarms went off and all the managers made sure the rest of us knew how to round up all the customers and get them up front where most of the lights on the generator are. I saw on TV where further north had quite a storm with downed roofs. I know I have some SP friends in the area let us know you are ok.

I think I posted the Spark seated exercises a few months ago. Steven has a couple of seated exercise DVD's.

Got the aviary cleaned out so now I have to make a cover to make it into a makeshift greenhouse. If it works I'll be planting Winter Tomatoes and hopefully I'll have some tomatoes when everyone else is buying store bought ones

Glad to hear it Jules!!

Poor Zoey!! I know if my routine is different, my two look like what's going on?? They get used to their little routine & I think it's security to them!!

Today, it was so nice we put the chickens outside for most of the day in their run for the first time. We're moving the whole coop out there in a couple of weeks when my brother can help & the weather is a little warmer. At first, a couple of them were scared to move, then little by little, they felt more at ease, and started scratching & eating grass. They were busy all day.

I hope Beka gets to go to the park, movies and to parties, the little girl needs a little fun time.

Kay the pain in my shoulder has subsided a fair bit, the doctor said it would flare up here and there before it gets better.

Thanks Jules and Kay. My foot is coming along pretty well, I'm keeping ice on it off and on and taking my antibiotic and pain meds and taking it easy. My hubby is being very picky about how much time I spend standing up on my foot!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and that Beka has a good time with your DD MaryAlice.

Maybe if the brother took Kellie for a few weeks and saw first hand what she was really like, he might just change his mind.

Had a rotten night last night trying to get some sleep. I think I actually started to sleep at about 5am. Needless to say I didn't get up to much today.

Sandi I do hope your foot is feeling better very soon.

That's really too bad, Mary Alice, that group home sounded like just what she needed. Her brother does seem to be dealing in reality too well himself if he thinks it's just a matter of her getting herself together. He's just setting her up for more problems.

Sandi, so glad your surgery went well; hope the pain subsides quickly too! I hope Zoey is getting in a lot of cuddle time!!

Jules, glad your injection went well, hopefully the pain will work itself out & it will help your shoulder.

Just quickly checking in before heading for a nap. I'm on the pain meds for my foot surgery and they make me so sleepy. The numbing stuff has worn off so I'm feeling some pain in the area the doctor worked on!!!

Mary Alice, I do hope Kellie will get the treatment and meds she needs. It's strange how her brother seems to know better than the doctor what her needs are. I feel bad for Beka being put in this situation.

Jules, glad you had your shot and hope you are feeling better now.

I will never quench the ardor of my imagination. But I will direct it to those channels where it shall gather flowers for the fancy, and food for the mind.
Abigail Alcott

Good morning, Kellie gets out today and everything we planned went to you know where. Her brother says that all she needs is to pull herself together and she will be fine, she doesn't need to go to a home. He is setting her up in her own apt. No body else is happy about it. Beka is scared. I told her she needs to be strong and let her mother know how much she hurt her and she doesn't want to be alone with her. Beka thought I was wimpping out and making her do my dirty work. I told her no, I would talk to her mother but her mother needed to hear it from her and besides I would be at work when she called Beka this evening.

Kellie was diagnosed bi polar. This time she started talking about Jesus and Mary Queen of Heaven telling her things things like she is pregnant with twins and when she had her monthly she thought she had gone into labor. I don't know if this is part of bi polar or if that is something else. I haven't spoken to anyone that has talked to her DR except her brother and he says the Dr. has it all wrong and won't talk about it.

Mary Alice have the doctors diagnosed any mental problems with Kellie? Mind you treatment with a lot of them require the patient to faithfully take their medication, by the sound of it I'm not sure if Kellie would.

Sandi I hope you are better today.

Cortisone shot was fine, didn't feel a thing, only a little pressure when the cortisone was injected. The nurse told me I'd probably feel worse before I felt better, she wasn't wrong, I felt like crap last night, I took a heavy duty pain tablet and was in bed by 8pm.

Feeling a bit better today, was able to hang out some washing with a minimum of groaning.

Mary Alice, that's too bad that her bad times are getting closer together. That group home with the nursery sounds like just the ticket. I hope it works out that she can get into that one!

More rain here, I'm glad we're catching up, but now I suppose it will never end. It again had a little snow mixed in it.

Hopefully, everyone is doing well with their surgeries, recoveries, and other health related issues. Thinking of you all! emoticon

Spring is so poignant because nothing stays. It must be caught and appreciated on the wing, for soon it will be gone.
May Sarton

Good morning. I'm off again this today. Took it easy yesterday, Today I'll workout.

Kay what scares us is that Kellie's bad times are getting worse and closer together. Beka's father is working pretty hard to get Kellie into a group home where she will get the supervision she needs. Ok he is doing this so he doesn't have to worry about her being with Beka, but I think this is what Kellie needs and her family wants nothing to do with her. The home closes to us has a nursery to help pay for the residents pay for their care. When Kellie can she works at a nursery and loves to garden so that is our first choice. The next closest home has the residents doing beading and other jewelry.

Jules, I hope your shot in the shoulder does help!! I just never know how to fix some of those unfamiliar greens, we never ate Swiss chard.

Sandi, I'm sure all will go well with your surgery & hoping you don't have too much pain. My thoughts & prayers are with you!!

Mary Alice, I'm glad everyone agrees it's time to stop any unsupervised visits, sounds like she going through one of her bad times again.

Mary Anne, you're probably not on here much, but I hope your eye is healing well.

Oh yes, Jules I will definitely be getting some pain medication! Sure hope the cortisone helps your shoulder, it sure did my knee!

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. Don't know how soon I will feel like posting!
My friend just had the same surgery and she just has a small cast on her foot and wears a short boot. Hopefully that will be what I have too. I really won't know until I talk with my doctor tomorrow what he is going to do.

Have a wonderful day and Mary Anne, hope you are feeling better.
Hugs everyone

By gentle and rational treatment better characters are formed, both in animals and human beings.
Lydia Maria Child,

Good morning. When I got home at midnight, Beka was curled up in a big over size chair sound asleep. I put her to bed. DH was all upset. He said he put her to bed at 9 and didn't hear her get up. I told him she didn't turn the TV or computer on, she just was asleep in the chair. This morning Beka couldn't know anything about getting up and was upset that I had to carry her to bed. I told her she had gotten up and walked to bed and her mind must have just have wanted to wait for me. I have a daybed in the living room and it is just feet from our room. I'll make it up so if she walks into the living room again she will have a bed to crash in.

Ever one agrees Kellie's days of unsupervised visitation are over. Beka even asked not to be left alone with her mother. I think it is going to be a mute point, the last person in Kellie's family that even pretends to care, is looking into a supervised home for her. Kellie's Dr said Kellie told him that Mary Queen of Heaven told her she is 6 months pregnant with twins.

I tell you Sandi I'd be more worried if they didn't give me pain meds for the operation.

Kay all I usually do is lightly simmer in a little water, then strain. Somebody always drinks the leftover cooking water and any leftover Swiss Chard usually gets used in the next days dinner or lunch.

I'm with the others Mary Alice, Kellie needs to be closely supervised with Beka, being left alone with her is not good for Beka or Kellie.

Getting ready for my guided Cortisone injection tomorrow, I just hope it can relieve the pain in my shoulder, I'm tired of ow ow owing all over the place when I do anything

Peace and long life - Jules

I was going to ask what kind of surgery you were having & then I read your post, Sandi. My dh had a bunion removed on his foot quite a few years ago. He had a cast up to his knee, but I don't know how they do it now & I'm sure every case is different. It sure relieved his pain & helped him in being able to get shoes to fit properly. Hope everything goes great!

Wow, that did sound scary, Mary Alice. I would be for supervised visits too!.

What or how do you fix your Swiss chard, Jules?

I agree with Nellie and you, MaryAlice, I think it is best for Beka to have supervised visits only with Beka. It sounds like it would be best if they don't see much of each other. I know that is hard though. Kellie sounds like a real mess.

Today I had my pre-op for my foot surgery on Wednesday. I'm not looking forward to it but it needs to be done. I'm not sure how long before I can check back in with Spark as I don't know how the anesthesia will effect me as well as pain meds. Hopefully I'll do fine.

Have a good week everyone.

I think that Kellie is too much into her own world to be aware of what is really going on. It probably would be better for Beka to have visits with her mother only with outside supervision to make sure Kellie isn't getting both of them into problems.

"It is the nature of man to rise to greatness if greatness is expected of him."
– John Steinbeck

Good morning, Beka is doing better. Beka says that she thought about turning around, but her mother kept trying to steal cars. Kellie says it isn't stealing if the keys are in the car. I asked Beka why she was barefoot and she said when she complained about her feet hurting, her mother made her take her shoes off and pitched them into a field. Kellie is sick sick sick. The family friend that was trying to care for her says she needs watched 24/7 and he can't do it. Most of Kellie's family loves Beka and would do any thing for her, but have given up on Kellie. I've tried to be there for Kellie, but it looks like I have to move away from her to protect Beka. I have always made it easy for Kellie to see Beka thinking that seeing her daughter would help her stay with it and Beka needed her mother, now I wonder if that is the right choice.

It's hard when the supposed "adult" hasn't got the sense that a 10 year old has. Glad she turned out to be OK.

Crappy day here today, raining and cold, the only time I stepped out was to take the dogs out and to pick some Swiss Chard for dinner. Been busy doing some more preserving, I seem to be very industrious lately

Wow, MaryAlice, that was a scare. Doesn't sound like Kellie really knows what is going on right in front of her. Very sad to subject Beka to that!

MaryAlice, I'm so thankful Beka is alright, what an ordeal for her to go through. What in the world was Kellie thinking walking all that way. I'm sure this is so hard for Beka to understand and comprehend too.

Glad to know Zoey isn't the only one that gets muddy feet, tracks it in and love to get under the covers!!!!

Hugs and have a great Sunday.

"It has been my philosophy of life that difficulties vanish when faced boldly."
– Isaac Asimov

Morning. Yesterday I had a big scare. Kellie's friend called and said that Kellie had taken Beka and gone for a walk. They were gone for awhile and he thought they had gone to the park down the street. When it still seamed like a long tine he tried calling Kellie and discovered she hadn't taken her phone. He went looking for Beka, couldn't find them so called the police. The police said they couldn't do anything yet because she was with her mother and there was no proof Beka was in ant danger.

The friend called everyone he thought might elp look for Beka. He called me, I called my daughter but her phone was dead so called her 15 year old to have him tell his mother. The 15 year old was out with friends, but as I told he, all of a sudden he said Grandma, there they are right there. Beka is wearing blue and they are both bare foot. Since she was about 20 miles from me I called the friend back and asked if he knew anyone in that area. Kellie's brother was down the street at a party. He put Kellie in the hospital, since he was at a children's birthday party and Beka hadn't had any thing to eat or drink all day, he took Beka over there. He said beka downed a bottle of water and a bottle Gatorade, and after awhile calmed down enough to eat a hotdog. Turns out that The brother had moved and now lives 4 miles from me so this morning I'm going to get her.

When they found Beka she was about 15 miles from home, said she had walked a long long way with her mother. Kellie said she was taking Beka to the beach. The problem is that the beach is south and she was walking north. The beach is 30 miles away and she would have had to walk along a 6 lane road to get there.

A child that still has dehydration problems had walked 15 miles with nothing to drink. Who knows what is going on in Beka's head. She was already having problems with everything her mother was going though.

Our back door is off the kitchen, DH clams it always rains right after he does the kitchen floor because Mutt won't wipe is feet. I put a mat at the back door and that does help.

Maggs always comes in with wet piggies. I've told Ray if he takes her out in the night to wipe her feet, she always wants to get under the covers when she comes in, I don't want wet piggy marks on my sheet.

Actually did the shopping today, very laid back it was as well, I'll have a rest day tomorrow before the Chiro on Tuesday and my shoulder cortisone shot on Wednesday.

Had a bit of a frost last night and it burnt some of my pumpkin plants, it got a couple of the zucchini leaves but all in all they were fine.

Sun today finally!! Still cold, but I'll take it!!

Know what you mean about Zoey getting muddy, my two do the same thing especially Susie. We were just calling her a mud magnet this morning when we let her out; everything so soggy if we leave her out too long, she looks like she went mud bogging. Her legs aren't that short, but she always trolls the perimeter of the property and who knows what else! emoticon emoticon

Her body is close to the ground since her legs are so short and her whole belly gets wet and muddy!! Oh well she needs a bath today anyway!

Kay, you really are having some more cold weather!!!!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Good morning. I need to check my schedule, but I don't think I go in till 6:30 today. Last night I said something about how tired I was and it didn't make sense since I was off the day before. Several people said they were always tired and said if Wal-Mart wanted to bring customer service up they would give us schedules so we would have the energy to care for customers. I was comparing my schedule to another service desk. He is semi retired. Looks like he is the closer and I work what the call the mid shift, but the days he is off I'm the closer. Except the days when the opener is off then I'm the opener. I must be the filler.

Same here Kay with the rain, I think the weather is telling me that Winter is coming emoticon

Tried to do some Apple Jelly this afternoon but it just wouldn't set, so I'll have to leave it until another day when I can get some pectin, funny I would have thought that all the pips and skin would have had plenty.

Steven's birthday is tomorrow so I'll make a birthday dinner and dessert hopefully I'll get in a nap because I think I'm going to be really busy

One tragedy after another this week. Hopefully next week will be a better one. I agree about the media; it's fine to report something, but like CNN covers things constantly until the next big thing comes. That's overkill.

We are getting rain & more rain! It's just been one rainstorm after another today, no lightening & thunder to speak of, although there was a tornado watch earlier, but just rain & plenty of it.

I agree with you all about these recent tragedies, I feel bad for the families that have to relive it everytime the media brings it up again.

Tonight we have a dinner with a group from church and tomorrow night we have another one! Not a good diet week!!

By crying for help and seeing help come from several directions, I began to learn what the village is all about: on the one hand, respect for privacy, and on the other, awareness of each other’s needs. So, however solitary some of us may look to an outsider, we are in truth part of an invisible web and supported by its presence.

There's a fine line between reporting the news and over saturating the media. Sometimes the media go on for so long it appears that they are feeding on the misery of others. Tell the story and give updates when pertinent information is found but don't keep on and on with the story.

How about that terrible explosion in Texas at the fertilizer factory? Poor buggers I feel so very sorry that this has happened to so many. I hope they find everybody they can and soon.

That can be part of it. But also I suspect that they are twisted enough to get pleasure from the suffering of others.

Good evening, I went in again at 7 this morning. I don't know why but I 'm more tired today then yesterday and I got a good night sleep last night. I'm off tomorrow and plan on making good use of it.

I hope non of you think I'm making light of what has been happening, but I'm wondering how much of it is due to social media. We make a big deal about these horrible acts. I think that these sick misguided people either see these acts as a way to get in the news or to see if they could do something bigger.

I agree - Mary Alice and Jules could both use a good rest day! Here's to your days smoothing out a bit for you each.

It's kennel kids day, so we're off to the shelter after work for several hours of energetic walking!

Happy day everyone!

MaryAlice, you sure do need a rest day,

Jules, you do too, you are one busy lady!

Today I have to go to the dentist, not my favorite thing to do but it's just for a cleaning, then we have dinner at church tonight, then the service.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

No fun Mary Alice having to do so much work.

I'm totally tired tonight, I finally did my apples from the tree. I swear the bucket was bottomless, I didn't think I'd ever finish peeling them. Ended up with quite a few bottles of apples preserved and I boiled the skins, seeds etc with some apple juice and water ready for some apple jelly tomorrow. Also did some Strawberry sauce for ice cream etc, I found a nice recipe on a blog and it gave me 3 decent bottles for only @$6.

I'm totally tired as I also did some washing as well, I think I need a day in bed, but tomorrow won't be the day I'm afraid as I have to go to the vet for our little Maggs rehab and acupuncture and Steve has to have his INR and liver enzymes tested.

Good Evening, I'm posting late because I worked till 11P last night and had to be at work at 7 this morning. I those 8 hours I had to drive home, take a shower, get some sleep, eat breakfast, get dressed and drive back to work. OK i managed 4 hours sleep. I don't recommend it. It is hard on the diet, you keep thinking that muffin and another cup of coffee will keep me awake and most of the time I'm too tired to think about what I'm doing. I'm off to bed early. I have to be back at work at 7 tomorrow then it is back to working evenings and getting off at 11.

I've been trying to as I go though things looking for things Have i used this in the last 2 years, if no Why am I keeping it. would I be better off getting rid of it.

Wow Candy, you did a great job catching up with us all!!!! You are so right, there's nothing like a puppy greeting you when you come home!! I would appreciate too, my hairdresser not letting me get a style that wouldn't look good on me!!!

Late checking in and I did read everyone's post since I last posted but all I had to do was read Candy's post!!!!!

Mary Anne, I do hope you get a good report from the doctor and that there has been improvement in your vision.

Well, got to go call the computer guy and find out why my new lap top isn't recognizing my printer!!!

Happy Tuesday and still praying for the tragedy in Boston. Sure hope they catch those responsible.

Thanks to those who stopped by my blog to ‘meet’ Bentley! The gang is still getting along really well and learning their routines. Ben is such a lovebug and was happy to see me get home from work yesterday. He has this little squeal he does when he’s excited and he was in full squeal last night! Nothing like a puppy-welcome-home-mob to end the day on a good note!

SparkChantal, it took me a long time to have a place of my own (thanks to marrying my hubby actually). I know what it’s like to want a house and garden and all that entails. I hope you can have that in your life!

Mary Alice, there’s something to your Daddy’s wisdom on moving! That’s always the best time for me to de-clutter and get rid of things that have been lingering for a while. I don’t want to move but should pretend like that’s what we’re doing and clean a bunch of stuff out of the basement and garage! Hmmm..

Mary Anne, glad Daisy and Poly are working things out. We’re still in that ‘get to know you’ phase with our new Ben and the resident kids. So far so good.

Jules, you’d think hair stylists would know how to style hair, wouldn’t you? My experience is the majority do not know, and if you find one who can style and does it to your liking, you keep going to them forever! LOL I hope you got that deserved soak!

Sandi, like yours, my hair lady knows how to deal with curly hair. I asked her last time to I went to her to give me a .. well, let’s call it what it is.. a mullet – shorter in the front and longer in the back. When I wear a ballcap (which is a lot, really) the sides of my hair stick out from under the cap and I look like Bozo the clown! She refused to cut it that way, saying ‘no client of mine’ etc LOL and persuaded me to let it grow a bit more until I can manage it in pigtails or a ponytail in the cap. I appreciate someone stopping me from doing something horribly wrong with my hair LOL Though now I’m really REALLY tempted to get it all cut off very very short again for the summer, it’s so much easier to manage and not have to fuss with then.

Mary Anne, hope you get good about your eyes!
The Boston explosions and aftermath are just horrific. I watched as much coverage as I could from work (I’m on a computer all day long). Good to know your family and friends are safe.

Kay, what a surprise, your little crower! At least you know now.

Jules, you’re right, you can’t have police everywhere. I’ve seen a few Facebook posts related to the upcoming Rock’n’Roll Half in Portland next month, asking them to keep participants safe, etc. There’s only so much authorities can do, and we all need to be vigilant and alert to our surroundings. The officials of the race and the first responders did so well helping the wounded and diverting the incoming runners to different locations and reuniting them with families. This will be something to process and deal with for quite some time to come.

Such a terrible thing to have happen. Trouble is you can't have police everywhere and it only needs a couple of numbnuts to create that panic. What a waste of skin these people are.

Kay you must be able to take the little cluckers back if they aren't hens, there's no way you are going to get anything productive out of the roosters.

It is a sad day when you can have any kind of large event without fear of violence! People can be so evil.

It was a beautiful day today, nice & warm. It's supposed to go up & down this week with rain. I'd like to get some lettuces, spinach, etc started if I thought it wouldn't freeze out and get enough sun to grow.

It was so funny the other day, my dh got one of his chickens out the other day, and a it crowed!! It was a little off key, and hoarse, but the little imposter is a rooster!! There's another one we kinda suspect too, but hasn't matured enough yet for us newbies to tell. So much for the stores sorting them out properly; they were all supposed to be hens. emoticon

emoticon everyone. Won't be on line long since I have to see the retinal spec again tomorrow to "see" how things are progressing. I'm not really noticing a difference but the tests they do will tell more.

I've been heartbroken over what happened in Boston today. Some folks that we know were suppose to be in the race and didn't go. Seems that all family and friends are safe but can't believe the violence. I heard that one of those that died right away was a child. What is this world coming to. Please keep them all in your prayers.

The one thing I like best about my hairdresser, is she has naturally curly hair like mine so she knows that it only takes a smidgeon to get it back in shape. I've sure been to others that scalped me though!!! I'm sure you look lovely Jules and hope you get some rest this week.

Today is cleaning and washing clothes day for me. Hope to take Zoey for a walk in a bit, not much else going on.

MaryAlice, sounds like your little one had a great time. My grandson use to love trains also, never wanting to put them down!

Have a happy Monday!!!!

Good morning. I went to church yesterday. I didn't make the service. A group of us had a book decision.

Tony did good. He has moved from the nursery to Spirit Play and since I haven't been able to go to church, this was his first time out of the nursery. Spirit Play is more structured. Parents drop the children off at the nursery, the teachers move them across the hall for Spirt Play and back to the nursery for parents to pick up. Tony had a train in each hand, but when I said it was time to go, tony showed me the trains when I said they stayed he put them down. At my house once he gets the trains out it is like pulling teeth to get him to put them down.

I remember having long hair and going in for a trim and the lady gave my a pixy cut.

I love to type, it's like zen work for me, but I still cock up on the spelling sometimes and spell check doesn't always pick it up.

Did the grocery shopping on Saturday so I'd be able to have the morning today to go to the local market, wouldn't you know it was raining this morning. Still went but it wasn't as good as it was last week when I couldn't go. Ended up getting a pair of slippers for Ray, a couple of bars of Goats Milk soap that I haven't seen in years

Got my haircut, or more to the point "shorn". I don't know why hairdressers can't understand the concept of a trim, it seems to be all or nothing. Bought a new handbag and a couple of pairs of slippers for me, when I finally got home I was stuffed. They had to do with eggs for dinner.

Chantal everybody here is very open in what and who they are, just jump in and say what you want, nobody will say anything.

I'm going to have a rest day tomorrow, maybe a soak in a bath, I've been going all week and I've just about run out of verve

That's okay Mary Alice, half the time I can't type either and that's all I did for many years as a secretary!!!

Mary Anne, glad you were able to get out some today. I can't see the weeds when I wear my sunglasses either even though I know it is better on my eyes.

We did have tornado warnings near us but not right in Tallahassee. We certainly have had the rain though. There are puddles all over the yard. Poor Zoey thought she was going to drown when I took her out between showers!!!

Looks like I've missed a couple days and today I put on my sunglasses and shield and went out and worked in the yard...of course, PolyDactyl was with me. The funny thing was, I couldn't see the weeds when I was in the shade!! lol We spent most of the day outside and I'm feeling it tonight.

Sandi, were you in the area with the tornado warnings today? We had a gorgeous day to be outside - 60 and sunny.

Kay, didn't get nearly the rain the you did. I wanted more but am glad we finally got some.

MaryAlice, can't believe they don't provide those special mats if you're on your feet all day. I'd be limping home.

Chantal, I never had guinea pigs - gerbils, hamster and dwarf hamsters. I still miss those little critters. I know our pets have feelings and they do show expressions in their eyes. When my husband passed suddenly, Ms Molly didn't seem to understand but PolyDactyl was not the same for about a month. It use to break my heart to look at her little face.

Jules, you are one busy bee. And, yes, it was funny to see Daisy's reaction to Poly's smack. I do a "play time" with them a few times a day which they seem to enjoy. I'm detrimined to make this work.

Really tired tonight so, sorry if I missed anyone.

I also, moved around a lot as a child and couldn't tell you any of my friend's names until high school, where I stayed all 4 years.

Jules, hope you can get your energy back soon, but then you are doing a lot of work!!!

MaryAlice, glad you were able to get a mat!!!

Today is rainy and overcast so seems like a good time for a little nap!!

this team makes me dream of having my own house with a big garden. but I spent my life moving around (tallies to about 40 times!) so it's hard for me to imagine what it feels like to grow roots somewhere. never had plants or animals at home, just boxes and stress. guess that's why i'm going overboard right now with my menagerie.

how are all the health issues? don't know you all yet, but i'll get there...

The angry, hateful soul, cannot comprehend the love that pervades the universe.
E. H. Chapin

Good Morning. I have a Sunday off so I am going to get the boys and take 3 of my grandchildren to church.

Yesterday there was 1 mat in customer service. I was he only one is cs most of the time, so I graded it.

Chantel, guinea pigs go back to their nest at night. I remember one day Dad told me to weed the crab grass out of the green house. I put the guinea pig cage in the green house and opened the door, thinking the pigs would help me. The guinea pigs loved the crab grass, but I forgot to lock them up that night till after dark. Both guinea pigs were in their cage.

Mary Alice, you definitely need an anti fatigue mate if you are required to stand all day. I'm glad I don't have that sort of job, my crappy back just couldn't take it.

Chantel I love guinea pigs, my problem is I'm allergic to them or to something in their coats, it's the only time I've ever been allergic to anything, I love to hear them squeaking.

Did some stuff outside today, planted my Rutabagas and Turnips, had to come in and have a nap though, I have been feeling a little tired lately, do something then have a nap, I seem to be going in circles

Cute store Chantal!! I would love to know what my Zoey is thinking when we is sitting here just staring at me!!! Or maybe I don't want to know!!

MaryAlice, can you bring your own mat? That is ridiculous that they think you can stand for 8 hrs on hard concrete. They sound very inconsiderate.

Jules and Kay, I know what you mean about waiting too late to Spark. Seems like I'm really tired earlier in the evening and don't want to get on but then some mornings I need to get on out for my walk and if I get started on Spark, I don't want to get off!!!

more animal stories...

this one's about guinea pigs. I was cleaning their pen, moved them down the balcony to the table to clear up the mess. when I finished, I put their little houses back in and left them 'uncovered' while I put together all the details. then I could hardly believe my eyes as they came waddling down the ledge, trying to find their way back 'home' by themselves! so cute.
I remember about 10 years ago, when I was on my first 'set' of pigs, how they managed to get out of their pans and explore the whole house. those were the ladies. afterwards, the gents were offered their freedom but they wouldn't have it. they squealed until I put them back! so much for inquisitive minds....?

Mary Alice, that doesn't sound right! Did they tell how long it would be? I have one of those small gel mats for kitchens, standing at the stove or sink; if push came to shove, you could buy one of those for yourself, then you could use it at home when you got done. The bottom line is you shouldn't have to.

Jules, that's how I feel, by the time I get done doing everything, I'm too tired & I want to relax or sleep. That's why I need to spark earlier.

Chantal, I think you're right about animals & their emotions, even our little chickens, each have their own little character.

Good morning. I got up early this morning and Mutt and I got a walk in before breakfat to watch the sunrise.

We had had some pretty torn up mats in customer service. About a week ago we had nice new ones. I went in yesterday we didn't have any mats. I asked about our mats, I need them. They said the new mats were meant for a different department and since our mats were thrown away we didn't get matts till someone orders us some. That better be soon. my feet are complaining about standing on concrete for 8 hours.

I think if animals communicated with us in words we'd be astounded.
but just look into their eyes, they say it all.
not one bit different than any other creature on the planet, including & esp. us!

I've been a bit hit and miss with Sparks lately. Have been outside for most of the day and by the time I come in, get dinner and finally sit down on the laptop, I feel like I've done a full days work and want to go to bed.

Tonight will be another night like this, hopefully tomorrow will give me a bit more time

Peace and long life - Jules

My terriers might go in the water if you threw food in there, but they wouldn't go after a ball either, Mary Alice. That was funny!

I don't like it when I end up sparking this late, I feel like I'm playing beat the clock. Seems like if I don't get it done early then I keep putting it off until it's bedtime.

My daffodils look so pretty, but it's so cold, I hope it warms back up before the rest of them decide they can't open. Some of them had bloomed, but I had a lot more to go when it turned so cold again.

Very cute story MaryAlice!!!! I can just see Mutt looking at you, like "you go get the ball, you threw it"!!! LOL!!!

Jules, sounds like you are working way too hard but I know you will enjoy all those good veggies. We don't try to do vegetables since we go off and on to the cabin, the neighbors would probably just get all ours!

MaryAnne, I know you had a good time with your kids. I also hope Daisy will be more compatible, I bet she didn't know what to do when Poly reacted to her. Maybe things will change for them!

Kay, glad your storms weren't too bad, hopefully our rain has helped the pollen.

Well, off to do some ironing!

Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possiblity.”

Good morning. I keep the AC at 80 and the heater at 70. Last week the AC was on this week the hater is on.

I just saw an ad on TV for an animal show in Houston. They said they has frilly cloths for cats. I asked Beka if she thought we should get some for Freyja. She said Freyja was giving me the evil eye. Then they said the had dock diving for dogs. Mutt doesn't like water and if you throw a ball Mutt looks lat you like you have lost your mind.OK we woke up with a good laugh.

Kay, Brassicas are Cabbages/Brussels Sprouts/Broccoli etc. We are still having warm weather here it's very odd but I won't complain, it'll be cold all too soon.

Mary Anne I would have loved to have seen Daisy after Poly smacked her one, bet that gave her a start.

I'm so tired again tonight, spending too much time in the garden and wearing myself out. I figure the rain and cold weather will with us shortly and I won't be able to get outside.

Peace and long life - Jules

Jules, what are Brassicas? That's a new one on me. That's great that you can plant those veggies and have them later on. Hope your injection does the trick.

Mary Anne & Sandi, Our thunderstorms were fairly heavy, but not anywhere near tornado strength. I saw that on the weather channel too, look pretty rough, snow, ice, hail, tornadoes. I won't complain about ours, besides we need the rain.

Maybe this will be the turning point for your girls, Mary Anne, since Poly stood up to her. Have fun with your kids!!
