Ok, so I have been pigging out and gained some in the last few weeks but I am really trying with the water thing. I seem to just go in circles!

I sooooo agree with what you are saying about the baby steps. I am the same way. The best part is that you already know the routine and (if my own experience is any reference) it will be easier than before to get back on track.
Water & excercise are a sure way to go. No question about it.
I saw you on the Xmas challene, joining was a great thing. You are going to do fine, I mean, no head start on the halloween candy? that's amazing!

By the way, I read on another site (hungrygirl) that the least fatening candy is the mini tutsi roll with like 23 cals... so anyone that is going to snack on what you buy, that's your best bet. it also recomended the mini Milky Ways as the least damaging chocolate bar. (darn, I so love the snickers- but it figures, I intituively LOOOVE what's fattening, lol)

Anyway, welcome back Leane, youre already doing great (candy untouched and all) and you are just starting!!!

I have learned, I really need to take babysteps, if I go all out I crash and burn. I need to get my water in, first, then maybe I can weed out the pepsi. I also think if I start small with the exercise, I can do better than if I join a gym and go hard core KWIM? I mean, I should be walking the dog everyday anyways.

So as I conquer these things, then I will set new baby steps. Right now I need someone to be accountable to. Someone who will check up on me and be encouraging, and positive.

I did go join the xmas challenge.

Hey, and can I report one success? Tomorrow is Halloween right? Well, I bought halloween candy 2 weeks ago and it is still unopened! That is doing good for me. I usually end up having to buy more and then more. It is not even calling me!

ok, so since I am back in the boat, I thought I would pop on here and set some goals that you all could kick me in the butt for.

1. Drink my water
2. Walk the dog at the dog park, running part of the way (rough terrain there) EVERYDAY.

I so want to loose the 10 lbs by christmas, none of my nice clothes fit and I can't afford to buy more!

I used to love it when people told me I looked like my mom. That hasnt happened in a wwhile, though, since I am still so overweight... but less and less each day. You have to read me on the cntest message board.

I do have to focus MORE during the weekends if I want to continut my weight loss ratio. But I am sooo on my way from obese to normal!!!!

Good morning everyone!

Jodi, your pic is amazing! I love it! You have amazing cheekbones! sort of like a model, you know?

D: Sorry about your "rice thanksgiving"... not nive when it happens, but its funny to look back on that sort of adventures, lol.
I remember once we went to a deserted island near the coast of Mexico on a camping trip, The boats dropped us of food & gear & said they'd come back such & such a day. This was the day after Christmas so I guess everyone was still in a psrty mood.
Anyway, they were going do drop of fruits & veggies half way trhough our stay, which they didnt, and on the last day we packed up, ate the last leftovers, (ever had cornflakes with condensed milk before?) broke camp and went to the other side of the island where we were to be picked up... or wait around to... and wait & wait.
Nothing to eat or wter to drink... hot sun, no camp... Lucky for us there was a caretaker for the investigators facilitys, still on construction and he had corn meal, instant coffee, a little water and instant (powdered) beans so we each had 1.5 small tortillas, one with half a teaspon of (yucky) beans. They also made a thing called "champurrado", like a hot milkshake with corn meal and powdered chocolate. YUUUUUCKKKK!!!!!! It was so gross not even my hunger made me eat it!
Eventually this "sea wolf" (complete with earing and all, like a pirate, long before it was a fashion among kids, or ever an earing was worn by a man in civilization) Got out & patched together a breaky old TINY boat, a couple of the men roawed to shore (4 hours, open sea) and got help to come back for us...
Now its funny, thrilling, but back then all kinds of weird things go through your mind!

Hi All,
Doing well, down to the last 5 pounds. Been going to aerobics each day and eating my fruits and veggies and drinking my water. Ramadan starts today so aerobics is on break until Wednesday and many stores are closed so I'll have to get my DVD's out to help me keep exercising.

DG Don't know if turkeys have 7 layers, but we should be seeing them soon. Last year there were 7 toms visiting our woods every day. We put out 50 lbs of corn a week for them.
Your neck injury sounds painful. Feel better soon.
Temps here in SW Michigan are unseasonably warm in the upper 70's & low 80's so we have been doing some shore diving this week. Tomorrow is the last warm day so if we can get air fills, we'll be back in. Not much to see though, just sand & rocks, we did find the old piers at Pier Cove at 9'. We were thrilled, doesn't take much to make us happy emoticon
Haven't made it to the gym because I'm trying to enjoy every last minute of SUN! Tuesday will be cold and rainy & I'll get back into the gym for some heavy duty worouts emoticon

happy thanksgiving to the canadians! is't it a holiday on Monday for Americans as well? I am more aware of the Japanese and Chinese holidays since I work with the tourists.
is the Canadaian Thanksgiving the same as the american one? Do you eat turkey? Japanese Thanksgiving is boring, it has nothing to do with eating. It's just a day to give thanks and have a day off. I don't even if they have turkeys in Japan. They sure wouldn't be able to cook one since the ovens aren't big enough! The word for for turkey in Japanese is "seven layered bird" Do turkeys have seven layers or feathers?
Two years ago I spent Thanksgivng in Chuuk (formerly Truk Lagoon) for a diving trip. The plane bringing the turkeys to the island was late so there was no turkey for Thanksgiving. They also ran out of vegetables (THe whole island)so me and this other woman who was vegetarians only had rice to eat! Such is life on a small island.

Congratulations Jodi! You're really close to your goal now. Did you go shopping in Jakarta? Just where did you go? I might have to try those places as I haven't found anything off the rack to fit me.

Beauty - you might be building muscle not just losing fat and that is a good thing. The scale is dumb and doesn't know the difference. I spent 4 weeks at the same weight but went down a dress size last spring.

I did behave (for a change) all day yesterday following my diet and planned exercise. Today I'm off to the grocery store to see if turkeys are in as it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weeekend. Even though there is only 2 of us, DH loves a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving and Christmas. So if the turkey fixings are in that means that we'll have a whole week of dinners planned all turkey leftovers! javascript:void(0);

OK, so sunday was a disapointment when I weighted in! Same weight, no gain, no loss. I guess that could be a good thing, but its not. I've worked hard for my weekly weight loss, and now it's been delayed. Too bad. That'w what happens when you're not perfect on your diet. too bad.

I've been absolutely perfect Monday, tuesday & what's gone by of thursday, and I really hope to see better results on my next weight in!

Hi All,
I just got back from my big shopping trip. Had a wonderful time and found that I am wearing a smaller size than I thought. It was so encouraging to have to ask for the next size down, not up. It really motivated me to get the last few pounds off so my goal is my birthday in November. Our boat has blessed us with some great dives. I can't remember when I last posted but our last dive included a turtle, eel, normal small tropical fish, and a patch of over a 1,000 garden eels.

Good morning all!

A sunny, bright, fresh morning it is here, which is quite a relief since we have had muggy weather for muchos días!!!!

Guys, I'm really doing great. There are things in my body that I keep realizing have changed... all the time! Yesterday I wore my "tight fiting" brown jeans to realize they no longer are stretch on me... I cant wait to move downa a size.

I heard a rumor that there is a store here with second hand clothers for overweiht people. Nice!!! I'm going to check it out this saturday. So cool!!! I can find a place for my "formerly nicely fitting" clothers, and maybe exchange for a new thing or two I can wear! How cool is that! I cant wait to get there!

MEANWHILE, YOU CAN NOW FEEL THE BONES ON MY HIP WHEN i AM LYING DOWN FACE UP, AND MY ELBOW HAS LOST ITS CUSHION, AND TODAY I AM USING A SMALLER WATCH ON MY WRIST & IT LOOKS OK!!!!
GUYS, i'M WALKING ON AIR. I HAVENT WEIGED THIS "LESS" SINCE 2002!!!! THATS FIVE YEARS AGO!!!

Good morning fellow divers!!!

Did amazing in my weight in: Lost 2 lbs!!! YEYYYY!!!!!

Had terrible munchies during weekend and did perfect on friday, saturday and sunday, UNTIL those home made cupcakes came oput of the oven and I had a few of those (after dinner) with a small glass of milk: 500 cals, so NO TROPHY FOR ME!!!!

Still, I'm very proud since I usually overeat bidtime the day befor the girlie visit, and I only had 500 cals, cool, uh? I've certainly come a loooooong way... even if I still have a lot more to do.

So have a skinny week everybody!

I need to deflate my tummy! It's starting to inflate now. If it inflates too much I wouldn't have to use a float for my diving classes! I have been eating the snacks that get passed around on the boat! The last few days we've had long days, 3 to 4 dives a day, morning and afternoon boat dives. A big group of college students (college dive club) is here chartering out boat and they are doing 13 dives in 4 days. When I get home I'm too tired to prepare my meals for the next day. At least my 30 day diving streak will be coming to an end next week.
Then back to the gym.

Hi All, I don't have time to catch up on all the posts. I don't usually post on this page, but since this website is about weight loss, I think I will start trying to be accountable.

For now...my success: walked 1hr 35 min yesterday at a really good pace (until the last 15 min, when I was whooped). Today, walked a quick 30 min.
I'm trying to drink more water, and watch what I eat, but am mostly focusing on the exercise right now. I am leaving for Scottsdale, Arizona on Monday and I am trying to get back down about 5 lbs that have crept on in the last couple of months.

Good morning everyone!

Did great yesterday. Had an extra of a butterscotch pudding NOT on my list. Only 100 cals. This AM my tummy was flat again. Love that feeling! Hubby keeps laughing when he sees m in my old pants from behind... He says Im hilarious with all the pleats of cloth... love it that he's laughing about that and not that I('m fat, LOL!

Brought my food in today, its a nother nice good day... stil rainny (longest rainniest season ever) but my spirits are high!

My tummy is so grateful for my eating healthy that it is starting to deflate already. I hope she is generous with the weightlos, lol.
I ser my 20 lb goal for Christmas so my turtle would be past halfway of my tracker... I so want to get past that point!!!

I gained another half pound. I'm eating way too much just because of stress from working way too much. Does an excess of Nitrogen make us hungry? I find myself craving sweets and bad carbs. I ned to clean it up!

Good morning everyone! I lost 1.5 lbs by saturday morning, but I wouldnt be surprised if I gained it back plus some,. I ate about a pound of chese during the weekend plus I dont know how many flour tortillas. I am such a basket case! This is why I am going at turtle pace! SHAME ON ME!!!

Fized Mexican "Pozole" for Mexican party tomorrow night... a diet version. Carefully measured out my diet amount today... I am SOOOO going to loose this weight, and faster than I thought!!!

My weekend tracking starts today, yes today, so even if I brought a little "taste" to work today (within diet portions) Im staying on track. I sooo want my trophy!!! and I want to see thoswe lbs peel off again saturday to saturday, so here i GO!

WOMBAY, DONT BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF. You can drink MUCHO VINO if you allocate your cals. How's that!
Right Mica? You´'re an expert, and smartly allocate a portion of your cals to (yum yum) red wine...

Morning! Woah is there ever alot going on here at the moment! Beauty, you really are on a roll - good for you, stick with it!

I'm in for both the challenges - although I can't quite decide on a Christmas-time goal yet.... I never seem able to pick something realistic, then when I don't meet the goal, I get so mad with myself, even though it was a crazy goal in the first place!

Have been slipping up the past 2 weeks, just being really lax with my tracking, and drinking WAY too much. There seem to be alot of "end of summer" type things happening around here at the moment, and social events are always tough for me to stay on track through...I start off with a great intentions, but then I end up having fun and just kind of going with the flow of things. I have no idea how you can limit yourself to 1 oz of wine either Beauty!! Wine is defintely my biggest downfall - I look at the whole "government recommended units" per week type thing, and think to myself I can sometimes drink that in a day! I figure they always err on the side of caution with reccomendations....

Anyway, I'm rambling now, but am thinking the incentive of the contest might just give me a bit more self discipline!

gooooooood moring to all fellow divers on a quest to loose weight.

Jodi, hope you feel better so you can enjoy your dive this weekend.

I am SOOOOO Cooking with gas!!!! I am so set on my goal I keep feeling my waist sliming down every morning as I wake up. Which is a lot to say, given my whale size, lol... No, but seriously. I am doing great sticking to my new eating system. I can have just about everything, only in really tiny quantitnies... lol!!! But I'm doing great!!! Cant wait to weight in tomorrow!

Im baking a cake tonight (my world famous apple cake) for the policeman's aniversary (here at work) He is going to pay it of with 5 car washes. How sweet is that!

We also have a national holiday this weekend with all kinds of yummy food, but I've got it all planned out. I hope I can keep it in check at my mom in law's (Im going to try to get out of that one, for sure!) But I have to be GOOOD since the contest starts THIS WEEKEND!!!

I just joined the challenge so I can lose my last 5 lbs. I gained back 4 lbs in 2 weeks after it took me 3 months to lose 7 lbs! I'm super short (4'9) so I lose very slowly. It's getting hard for me to keep it off!

I love VINO to swetie, but I just dont hold it too well. Sorry. Dont like beer or whiskey or rum or tequila... Wine... Wine's a different matter. Love white, soft reds, and wine coolers... yum. Just dont have them too often. Which is a good thing, too. With my addicition to sweets and cals, I'd be double my size LOL!!!! NOT A PRETTY PICTURE!!!!

Anyway I talked to the nutricionist (am I getting better Mica?) And she said to sub 1 carb for 1 small galss of wine. Works for me.

Yes Mica, we do have to make up our minds. If 8 is too much, then maybe you want to stick to 10... Or 9 to have some legroom before Xmas? But you have to be definite if you are going ot be accountable. You know your body. Just keep it very realistic. AND WE CAN DO THIS MICA!!!!! I know the excitement is not the same for a contest than a vacation, but it might be the extra little push we all need to try a little harder and be succesful, right? So... Whats it going to be: 8, 9 or 10?

Beauty, red wine is 21.2 cals per ounce and white wine is 20. It also matters what the alcohol content is but this is a good general amount to use for tracking.
I don't know how you can just have 1 oz of wine though. I would hate to tell you how much I have every night emoticon Not that I am a boozer, just love my vino! lol.

You are coming down on me to make up my mind huh kiddo! emoticon lol! I haven't decided yet. I really do want it to be 10 but feel that may be too low for me as I can never maintain that weight when I did get there and I should be happy with losing 8 at most. Not that it's such a big dif..lol. With 14 weeks to go I should be able to do it. Just have to get started and in the frame of mind I was in before vacation.

Youre on. You have to decide, is it 8, 9, or 10 lbs by Xmas? & is it really doble?

I had a good day yesterday. Stuck to the diet to the T. Had you in mind Mica, as I had some burgundy with my 1.5 thin (I mean thin) slices of pizza + 1.5 cups of veggies. I skipped the cup of milk in lieu of an ounce of wine. is that OK? Have no idea how much wine "costs" or its equivalent.

Special bummer ocasion actually. One of my best friends got fiered from work yesterday, so I had her over for wine and pizza. Imagine, 18 years on the job... So depressing... But I stayed on track.

I might be in and out all day but I'm here gang, Ok?

What am I going to do? I dont weight myself at home, and only have access to the scale on saturday at 11. Would it count if I just track during the weekend?

Cherry you are SOOOO right. We need realistic goals. I just posted mine on Challenges, but basically I want to weight 100 kilos /220 lbs by Decembre 31st. I have a schedule: I have an alumni reunion comming up and I want to be at a "normal" weight. Wont bore you with the details here (posted already on challenges) but I think loosing 19.25 lbs in 15 weeks is doable, dont you?

What are everyone's goals here?

It would be cool if we could somehow have a board to post our weekly results here... But I can keep track of it here in my PC, and send out weekly emails to everyone with the attachment.

Girls - palezzzzzze count me on on the Christmas weigh in goal. What a present that would be! emoticon emoticon Soooo - are we stating our goals today?

We each need a REAl number - something to work towards that is realistic. When I joined Sparks 1.5 years ago - I set mypass word as "60byjune" so that each time I signed in i had to type it and remind myself --- like an affirmation. It wasn't realistic and didn't work.LOL!

Beauty - I am so proud of you girlfriend. Doesn't it feel really good????!!!!

Does anyone watch the biggest looser? My daughter and I are going to start when they do and diet for the time frame it is on tv and see how much we can loose.

I went to the "Lapband" surgery seminar SAt. am. very interesting. Still thinking on it and will determine how much my insurance pays as to if I can do it or not. ?!?!?!?!? In a way I feel that is the lazy way to be skinny! But know it will work!

I don't get a trophey as I was 1/2 bad over the weekend. Had pizza and pasta on Saturday. Sunday was a decent day. Didn't pig out - but ate.

Morning everybody!!!!!

I am SOOOO happy!!!! LOST LBS!!!!! yes!!!! i THINK i WAS PROBABLY MISS CALCULATING MY PORTIONS AND thats how I lost instead of gaining. This is ooo cool!!!!

Did not track during the weekend. Wasnt bad, but wasnt perfect either. No wine, no sweets. Thats GOOOD by MY standards, LOL!

I am a bit confused. With the diet nutriologyst gave me I am supposed to count points, not cals... what should I do? Its kind of time consuming to do both. Maybe I should just stick to the points.

Mica, I'm with you. I want to loose as much as I can before X'mass. Lets really go for it girl!

I confess that I was a BAD girl this weekend! Did not track my food but know that I went way way over!

Its Friday and I was good all week, I agree Cherry no alcohol seems to get me less bloated, but wine does not bloat me so no beer just wine in small amounts.
Mich I am always naughty on weekends, I'll try to be good

What if we grade ourselves on Fridays and YES most definatley check in atleast once a day otherwise!

Lets each strive for a 100% week each and every week!

I must add - - - I truly feel better in that I have had no alcohol - no I don't nedd AAA yet - but I enjoy a beer or two (maybe three) every few days. For the most part I feel I was very dedicated this week - even my tummy shows it each morning it is down a little more; not all the bloating , swollen, puffy feeling I have had lately!

I give myself 90% for this week! Okay next . . . .?

OK - I slipped --- so beat me silly! Had three

Taco Bell - Beef tacos, @ 630 calories calories!!! OMG! I was bad! OUCH! But - i had No breakfast - no time!?!?!? I know bad girl number #2 right? I decided on taco's since a taco salad is 850 calories- didn't realize ti was THAT high - like OMG! So if I keep my dinner in preportion - I will be okay - - -right? Am I kicked off the accountablilty yet?

Ups and downa are good to talk about. The support I get from you guys is amazing and an incredible help towards reaching my goals. I can not imagine not having you guys so close. You make the whole difference.

Right behind you sweet pea! I do have a different time schedule than you, but today I got in 30 mins early so I could track, post & everything and THEN get to work.
Man I'm on fire! I did great yesterday. I concocted 17 dinner menus up with the guidelines the nutiologyst game me. How cool is that? I'm so pleased with myoptions. I eat a lot of food, but I am hungry a short while after my meals so I'm really looking forwar dto my snakc. And then my next meal and so on. I'm very pleased!
I cant wait for my weight in tomorrow. I know i DID GOOD THIS WEEK IN SPITE OF A SETBACK this week AND A COUPLE LAST WEEK (LOOK DOWN BELLOW FOR SELF-INFLICKED BUTT KICKS)
So heres to all of you, have a great friday and stay skinny!

It is thursday at 5 pm! Love these short weeks!! Sounds like we are all the same- three steps ahead and 1 backwards! Such as life! It is so hard to stay 100% 24/7...but if we can remember not to totally get side tracked if we do cheat and get back to it. one or two cheats here and there aren't going to kill us - it is the cheats all the time that we get strangled by. So far so good this week - I feel as if I am back on track...now staying here is the hard part - particulary the first few weeks...wghen it takes so long to see any results. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I know just how you feel. I've been having a few "bad nights". You are so wright. the thing to do is not buy anything that will make you get off track. Its Dr. Phil's "no fail environment" When I get an anxiety attack I can eat anything and EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, PREFERABLY FATTENING... HEALTHY JUST DOESNT CUT IT. what's up with that?
Anyway, if I have "no goodies " in sight I might eat less or less harmful ( i.e. popcorn, etc. etc. etc.)

And dont worry. It happens onces in a while, but youre still on track. Very good to learn you cant trust your willpower. Know that you are working on a life-style change and just learning as you go on your way to sucess. You ARE going to do this. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Bad night last night. Called by the deli after work for some bread, and ended up with a block of (really good, smelly cheese) to go with it.... well the bread, cheese, and almost a whole bottle of wine are gone now, and I feel like an idiot as I've blown the progress I made in the last week. D'oh. I just have to avoid buying stuff like that, I apparantely have a complete lack of willpower to have a taste of it and leave the rest in the fridge.

Live your Dreams. Except for that one about being eaten by the giant spider.

Morning everybody!

Great idea, the Hobby Mica. For now I have stuff I need to do around the house and I am going to hurry and get them done... I also need to focus on my cancer check up, and I want to do that this month. It sounds silly, but its very stressing and energy drainning.

Jodi, those DVDs sound amazing. I wish I could see them. You must have an amazing colection by now, all the places you have dived... WOW!

I did great yesterday. tHE DOCTOR GAVE ME EVEN MORE FOOD TO EAT! But very similar to what I am currently eating. I had tummy ache at night! LOL. Today I am planning my menu even better so I comply with her stuff and dont eat so much. But I am happy and pleases. kind of like a new beginning. Isnt it exciting!
I get a pat on the back today, right MICA?

I do not have that much free time for a hobby, but when I am alone for any amount of time I usually get into cleaning or organizing something. If I get lazy and sit in front of the tv I will also eat just to do something so I avoid that as much as possible. The winter's are the hardest because we stay in alot. Hate any outdoor winter activities! I am not a cold weather person. But I am hoping to really start a great workout program this fall/winter so I will be in great shape for next diving season.

Oh and BTW, my bf and I are talking about taking the rescue course next spring. So we will have that manual to go through before the season starts.

With my hubby out of town I am finding I have more time. Thanks for the hobby idea, I have many kits around that I started before kids that I could tackle and that would help me from checking out the fridge. I'm realizing how business helps. Besides diving, what hobbies do you all have? One hobby I do is taking my dive pictures and putting them with music on a DVD.

I also posted my tracker again (changed my runner for a turtle since it reflects my current speed a little better, lol...) but seriously... I am almost a 1/3 down from my humongous weight... and that is good... right?

Aw Beauty, do not beat yourself up! Today is another day and can't hurt to see the nutritionist. Will be interesting to get a different opinion. I know a few people who had great success losing with a nutritionist and you don't have to pay! Go for it girl! Time to start a hobby you could get to when you find yourself alone and bored. There must be things that can keep you busy and your mind off food.

Ay Mica, so sorry to disapoint you... But I am not angry either... not for kicks anyway, I am sad and disapointed in myself... SOOOOO DEPRESSED!!!! (ooppps eyes getting watery here at the office, got to watch out) I spent 500 extra cals on POPCORN!!!! How stupid was that! I wasnt even in an eating mood. I just over ate because I was alone again, Hubby having a meeting with a prospect partner... OMG - will I ever get my act staight for stretches of time enough to loose some weight? I am such a basket case!

I have an apointment with a nutriologist from work today at 12. Its not at this office, but it will be free of charge. i think I dont really need it because SP does a great job at helping you with the tracker, articles, etc. etc... I am even worried that I'll be too much of a know it all and not agree with her, but we'll see. I think most of all I want options... food options, since I'm fed up with the same stuff. Oh well... Ill let you know about it later.

Jody, a snicker is about 300 + cals. Having one one day of the week is not going to create havoc! Youre ok. Dont worry. You're doing great! I mean you're almost there!!!
Oh, and we chit chat in challenges (and have jokes on wednesday) and we confess and stick to our habits and are ackountable here.

Hi chicks! I am back and on full force! Ready to kick my own a$$! I felt like the biggest whale on the beach with all the ladies a size 2 3 4 5 6 7 ---ugh! So . . . . I am back trying really hard!
A couple of the girls had tried a diet - this will give us all ideas for quick and easy.

Breakfast - bananna or apple with peanut butter
luncha nd dinner- a 300 cal or less Lean Cusisine
w/ a side salad - low fat dressing. The Panini is to die for! OMG!!!

I also tried a chix. recipe last night that was tasty - got from a trainer at the gym.

Whole wheat paste - Baked Chicken - Side salad

taop a chicken breast with sun dried tomatoes, kalamara olives (pitted and chopped), feta cheese - I sprinkled olive oil and season salt - wrap in foil and bake one hour. serve over cooked pasta. I had this for dinner last night and it was very good.

Started back on the tredmill last night as well. I am ready to kick butt!
