Checked with a friend of mine who has done tons of diving including live aboards, but when he dove the barrier reef, he did land based dives. When he did dive live aboards, he always went with a dive buddy. He did tell me if you want some serious diving and ease of diving, live aboards are the way to go. Basically diving 4-5 dives a day and never having to break down your gear. They just fill your tank while still attached to your BCD.

I will be traveling to Australia next year and am planning on doing the Great Barrier Reef. I have been looking at a number of options. I am leaning toward the Live Aboard experience with Mike Ball. Anyone have any experiences doing a live aboard when traveling as a single person?
