Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made.

"We must not allow other people's limited perceptions to define us" -Virginia Satir.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you, too, can become great.

I posted this a couple days ago in the Narced lounge but am hopeful that other divers would read and benefit if it were posted elsewhere too. It was a reality check for me.

This is an excellent article published in Advanced Diver Magazine written by Seattle diver John Rawlings. A strange coincident but Saturday Sept 4, I met John at Alki Beach, Cove 2 in the Puget Sound. Three messages I’m in hopes all my friends will take note of:
1) You can suffer decompression sickness even though our computers tell us we’re within the NDL.
2) We’re all taught not to engage in strenuous activity immediately before and after a dive. (I always thought that meant like a hard workout or long strenuous climb up a shore: I NEVER considered it may mean a short burst of activity like lifting gear out of the water! Wow!)
3) Get supplement insurance specifically for diving.
Coincidental to meeting John, I bought insurance through Divers Alert Network (DAN) last week. This is the same provider who paid to have a Lear Jet with medical crew evacuate John back into the US after his accident.

Again, Divers – PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE!

Happy Bubbles and be safe!
Ron

Cheer's!
