I used one for some fin testing I did for Scubadiving magazine. It was really interesting to see how much your heartrate rises even before you dive (gearing up, heat if it's hot outside, etc). Then underwater we were running a specific course with turns and trying to go as fast as we could, so it was helpful to track heart rate too. Not sure if I'd wear one on a regular dive, but it would be helpful for snorkeling or swimming laps at a pool.
