The visibility is usually good ~ 30-50 ft (which is good for Cali). emoticon

It can be very cold. During the summer, we can go out without a hoodie but we have to time it just right. The diving is awesome. Lots of kelp and Catalina has a few wrecks so it's cool. There's an easy entry at Casino Point which is VERY cool. We want to go out on a boat there sometime this summer, but we'll see. Would love to do San Diego first.

Wish I have, but not yet! Also would like to hear about the diving there. How warm is the water temp in Cali? Head it was cold.

My DH & I live in Southern Cali and have been certified for 5 years now and have never been diving in San Diego. We usually dive off of Catalina. We've been wanting to go to Wreck Alley in San Diego but just haven't had the time to plan it. Has anyone been diving there? What'd you think of it?
