Last night I was supposed to have the chicken rigattoni ....well I made an exeption, and cooked somo low carb pasta mixed with whole wheat pasta and made some ground beef with mix vegetables and mushrooms.....I'm glad I did it was so good. Don't forget that I also included a salad and for dessert a small piece of pumpkin roll.

I controlled my portion, instead of using a regular dinner plate I used a baby bowl, those that you use to serve food to infant, it was the best idea.

I did a whole lot better last night!....Instead of having salad, which was full of sodium, I had summer spring rolls and satay chicken!...and water.

So today I took my son to the movies and dinner after that, and we had Mexican food, and you know there is not Mexican food without having tortilla chips, yikes....a whole bunch of it with spicy sauce and then I added guacamole....yes....then I behave and had a grilled chicken salad, only ate half of the chicken and half of the lettuce and just because I had too much tortilla chips......

Well, for supper I had Mac & Cheese (it was just like Kraft!), steamed broccili & cauliflower, and a slice of wheat bread. Overall, it was very good.

For lunch, I had the Cheese Tortilni - I thought it was bad; it sort of had a bitter taste. It will be added to a list of what I don't want again. Unfortunately, I think there are some more in my box (shelf).

Thanks. I called Nutrisystem this morning. They said the same thing. For example, 4 oz of milk to cereal and I could have yogurt.

The milk counts as part of the entree. Any time the directions call for an add in the add in does not count as the extra food you get. Another example is the whole wheat bun you are to add to the hamburger and the tortilla you are to add to the vegetable fajitas. You add those and still get the additional SC.

I wish I knew the answer to that for you. I usually count the milk as part of the cereal and have the extra, but maybe that is not correct. emoticon

Chica, you also need to add the smartcarbs and powerfuels to your day's eating. They are not optional and without them you will not be eating enough to properly fuel your body.

I found it wan't just about taking off the weight but about changing the way I look at food.

favorite Snack Chilli Popcorn

Chilli Seasoning Mix: Mix together 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt, 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder, 1/8 tsp Cumin, (a bit if grated lime peel, optional)

In a Stir Crazy or other Popcorn maker add 1 tsp olive oil & 40 grams popcorn kernels.
Pop corn according to directions. Toss with Chilli Seasoning mix.

This would work with air popped corn as well but the traditional method is better for just a few more calories. (Love the Stir Crazy, there is a version with a heavier stir rod that can be used for kettle corn and toasting nuts, when the one I have wears out I am getting that one.

My food rut needed some shaking up - so thank you for this great thread!

Definitely will try Rosedoll's suggestion of cheese to enrich soup. There's a few Italian wedding soups left for the month and I will give it a try.

Also, because I really enjoy the pizzas for dinner entrees, I first cook mushrooms, peppers and onions (frozen bags) and then add it to the cheese toppings that come with the NS pizzas.

Will continue to watch for more posts here. . .have a great weekend!

YUM Susan! You are doing so very well! Keep it up woman. I like the shorter goal for October myself, I believe the shorter goal are easier to achieve.
I have a lot of Nutrisystem dinners left over and hardly any lunches and breakfasts, but I am cancelling out the Nutrisystem for the summer and using up what I have. I may pick up again in September when school starts up again. It is so convenient. I am super active in the summer and love to cook healthy with the wonderful Spark recipes and since I have the time, I'm a Spanish teacher on vacation for ten weeks, I am going to do that.
I began NS on March first and was 227. Now I am 212...15 pounds in 4 mos. I hope to lose another 12 over the summer and be under 200 when I return to the classroom. I was lugging around 260 for 25 years before I joined Spark People.
Wish me success...I am wishing you the same! emoticon

I lost 2 lbs. this week -- 27 lbs. down, inching closer to my goal of losing 30 lbs. by July 4th!

On July 5th I will reset my tracker to my next goal - either lose an additional 15 lbs. by October 20th (my birthday) or lose an additional 26 lbs. by January 2nd (start of tracking for 2014) - not sure yet.

Tonight I am having one of my favorite Nutrisystem Desserts - made from the double chocolate breakfast muffin and it is all in the presentation. The components are the muffin, 2 or 3 strawberries and 2 Tablespoons Cool Whip Free.

Cut the top off the muffin. Place bottom portion on a dessert plate. "Frost" cut side with 1.5 Tbl Cool Whip Free, mounding slightly in center, top cool whip with layer of overlapping slices of strawberries. Replace Muffin top on berries & cream then garnish with 0.5 Tbl. Cool Whip Free and small sliced strawberry or a sprig of fresh mint. (The presentation is the same as Chef Chloe Coscarelli's Chocolate Shortcake Vegan cupcake that won Cupcake Wars on food network ,but using the NS Muffin, & Cool Whip Free instead of buttercream, If you want to google for a picture)

Glad you all liked it. It has made a great iced tea substitute and I am trying to cut back on caffeine. I weighed this morning and have lost a 1 lb. - the lull is over. I am a little behind where I should be to make my goal of losing 30 lbs. between January 14th and July 4th but I am close.

The taste is mild -- it does not taste like a juice or an ade. You can make it with any ingredients - I find the cucumber & mint refreshing but it could certainly be made from all citrus or whatever you have on hand.

The Infused Water is based on a Detox Recipe from the Dr Oz Website.
In a large glass pitcher or carafe, add
1/2 sliced cucumber
1 sliced orange or tangerine
1 large slice of Grapefruit (1/8 to 1/4 Grapefruit)
1 Tbl. Mint fresh leaves (I leave them on the stem)
fill pitcher with filtered water and let stand in refrigerator overnight.

In the morning I fill up a 32 oz. container to work then top off the pitcher with filtered water, for two days in a row, When it is empty I toss the spent fruit & veg I start over.

Happy Friday!
Today is a mixed day for me - Nutrisystem Breakfast and Lunch, Dinner with my Nephew and His Wife - tonight we are grilling at their house. (This is how I wind up with Extra Nutrisystem dinners to have on one of the On My Own Days.) I am bringing Salad & Dessert.

Yesterday I had a long stressful day at work & I had to stop at the grocery store - putting me home at 8pm. Did I dive into the Deli or turn into the Wendy's drive through, conveniently located on my way home? I did not, I came home and reconfigured dinner to something smaller, easier to prep and digest (my acid reflux is gone, but let's not tempt fate) - skipped the salad, swapped fresh vegetables for pre-chopped frozen Vegetables and the chocolate dessert bar for the Cheese Cake one ( what you thought I would skip dessert?) Anyway I love having easy options.

On the Menu Today
Breakfast
Tassimo Cappuccino (Extra)
Nature's Bounty Optimal Solutions Rich Chocolate Shake made w/Almond Milk (Power Fuel)
Nutrisystem Sweetened O's Cereal
Great Value Light Blueberry Yogurt (Power Fuel from AM Snack)

Lunch
My Favorite 100 Kcal Salad (2.5 Vegetables)
1/2 cup Great Value Fat Free Cottage Cheese (Power Fuel)
Nutrisystem Mexican Style Tortilla Soup
Navel Orange (Smart Carb from PM Snack)

Dinner
Insalata Caprese (stack alternate layers of sliced Roma Tomatoes, Buffalo Mozzarella, Fresh Basil, drizzle with olive oil and/or Balsamic Vinegar, season with salt & pepper, garnish with small pretty Basil leaves)
3 oz Grilled Chicken Breast
3 oz Grilled Steak
2 cups Grilled Vegetables
1 piece grilled Bread
Mixed Berries & Vanilla Pudding
(Vanilla Pudding from scratch - Over Medium heat, heat 2 c whole milk until bubbles form around edge, in a bowl combine1/2 c sugar & 3 Tbl. cornstarch & 1/4 tsp. salt, dissolve sugar mixture in hot milk, continue to cook & stir until coats back of spoon (10-15 min), remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp. vanilla extract or seed scraped from one vanilla bean & 1 Tbl. butter, pour into individual glasses/molds cover surface with plastic wrap and chill to set, before serving top with macerated fruit or fruit preserves, favorites - berries, peaches, plums or figs, garnish with fresh mint) 275-300 Kcal per serving
Tea

Water: 32 oz Cucumber, Citrus & Mint Infused Water, 32 oz - Filtered Water

Oh No Plateau! Stuck at 182 for the 2nd week in a row and I have run out of Almond milk and mushrooms. What am I doing about it? Not a thing. Truly it is a time to Keep Calm and Carry On.

As WATCHMEGO mentioned in a recent post there seems to be a bit of a lull in the weight loss every 10 lbs. or so. I had a lull after losing 13 libs and now after losing another 11lbs I am at another. I did have 2 bad days (1600 Kcal & 1800 Kcal) around Memorial Day but I cut back (1000 Kcal) on my On Your Own Days that week to balance out, so this is just the decade (10-lb) lull. Here is where tracking your food & exercise and following the program guidelines pays off - it gives you the assurance to keep going and feel good about what you are doing. Also, if the lull goes on too long (4-6 weeks), it gives you the information to make effective changes.

On the Menu Today
Breakfast
Tassimo Cappuccino (Extra)
Natures Bounty Optimal Solutions Rich Chocolate Shake (Power Fuel)
Nutrisystem Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal
(both made with Water)

Lunch
My favorite 100 calorie Salad (2.5-Vegetables)
Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Blue Cheese Dressing (Extra)
1/2 cup Fat Free Cottage Cheese (Power Fuel)
Nutrisystem Fudge Graham Bar
Navel Orange (SmartCarb from PM Snack)

Uh Oh long day at work - home late, change of Dinner plan- skipped the salad, swapped pre-chopped frozen vegetables for fresh, and swapped out chocolate desert bar for a non cheesecake bar.

Dinner
Kraft Singles Skimmed Milk American (Power Fuel from AM Snack)
Nutrisystem Hearty Beef Stew
Mixed Vegetables (SmartCarb)

Dessert
Nutrisystem Cheesecake Flavored Bar
1 large perfect strawberry sliced thin and fanned (Extra)
Decaffinated Constant Comment Tea

Water: 32 oz Cucumber, Citrus & Mint Infused Water & 32 oz filtered water

Oh No The Italian Wedding soup is one of my favorites!

I hope no one minds my menu postings. Amy's recent posts made me realize that those who order the 28 day program probably do not get the planners with the Flex Schedule and Ellie's posts about the Extras and Vegetables reminded me of my own early confusion - who knew beans were Smart Carb and not a Power Fuel?

I plan to post a week or so of menus just to give some examples of what flex menus and fitting everything in looks like. Not that my diet is perfect but I do follow the guidelines closely except my schedule does not allow me to snack. I don't think that eating only 3 meals a day and no between meal snacks has hurt my weight loss but we will never know.. Love the flexibility of this program.

On My Own Wednesday

I try to follow the Nutrisystem Pattern on my days off and that does not always match the On your Own Days servings in the tracker but it is really close. I am having a Nutrisystem Entrée for dinner only because I have one left over from last month but it could have been something like another serving of the Vegetable Lentil Soup from Lunch or a burrito made with a corn tortilla, no fat refried beans, grilled peppers & onion or salsa, an omelet (1 whole egg + two egg whites) filled with Spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms or a salmon or tilapia fillet with a citrus herb sauce.

Breakfast
Tassimo Espresso & Almond Milk Latte (Extra)
Natures Bounty Optimal Solutions Rich Chocolate Shake & Almond Milk (Power Fuel)
Uncle Sam's Original Cereal (Smart Carb)
Great Value Light Strawberry Yogurt (Power Fuel from AM Snack)

Lunch
My favorite 100 Calorie Chopped Salad (2.5 Vegetables)
2 Tbl. Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Blue Cheese Salad Dressing (Extra)
1 cup chopped baby Kale, 1 cup chopped Romaine Lettuce
1/2 grated carrot, 1 sliced Roma Tomato, 1 sliced Baby Bella Mushroom
1/4 tsp kosher salt and fresh ground pepper
1 cup Pacific Farms Vegetable Lentil Soup (Power Fuel & Smart Carb)
1 slice Kraft fat free Swiss Cheese (Power Fuel)
Navel Orange (Smart Carb from PM Snack)

Dinner
Nutrisystem Sloppy Joe Mix
1 cup steamed Carrots & Mushrooms (2 Vegetables)
1/2 cup green peas (Smart Carb)
1 slice Kraft Singles skimmed milk American Cheese (Power Fuel)

Dessert
1 cup quartered Strawberries (Smart Carb)
2 Tbl Cool Whip Free (Extra)

Water: 32oz Cucumber, Citrus, Mint Infused Water, 32oz filtered Water

The Chicken Pot Pie is one of my favorites -- will try toasting the crust next time.

My day did not go smoothly -- early morning meeting, stressful teleconference with Vendor. Got away from home late....and got home late, work to do after dinner. So nice to have easy tasty meals on hand - before Nutrisystem this would have been a 100% Drive-Through Day.

Natures Bounty Optimal Solutions Rich Chocolate Shake with Almond Milk (Power Fuel)

Breakfast back in the Office
Nutrisystem Low Fat Granola

Lunch

Kraft Singles Fat Free Swiss (Power Fuel)
Orange (Smart Carb from Afternoon Snack)

Dinner (with Julia - love The French Chef Classics on PBS)
Spinach, Mushroom, Grated Carrot Salad
(2 Vegetables - the salad I should have made when I got up and taken for lunch)
2 Tbl Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Blue Cheese Dressing (Extra)
Nutrisystem Mac & Cheese
1 cup Steamed Carrots, Green Beans & Mushrooms (2 Vegetables)
1/4 cup green peas (1/2 Smart Carb)

I had the Chicken Pot Pie last night over some green beans. They are new since I left NS last fall. I toasted the crust in the toaster oven like I've read on the NS forums. OMG! That was the best thing I've eaten on program! I would order that in a restaurant! I had to change my order to get more because I only got 2 last time not knowing if I'd like them.

Highly recommend!

I really enjoy the hickory smoked patty and also the other flame broiled patty. YUM! Great job on your menu Susan. You are determined and meticulous in your meal planning. Wish I was as much so!

I would not call it dehydrated, more like canned. It is a small beef patty with Hickory flavored sauce sealed in a packet. It is surprisingly good - has a lot of flavor.
