Sunday i had 4,800 steps as Sunday's are my easy days when i can get them.
Monday i had 6.780 steps.

i had a little over 6,000 steps on Sunday. of cource i add steps when my friend and i walk dogs.

the way i add steps is the movement of walking i don't add anything extra on my own...i use the tracker total.

i topped out at 7,000 steps today...what helps is my friend and i walk our dogs in the evening and today i did some laundry and that includes up and down stairs.

I'm so sorry for you that your hsuband does not understand. I'm lucky mine does and is great! it can be very hard when your partner does not get it or want to get it! sometimes I know it can be thought of that all our problems with our arthritis and weight loss etc. is all in our heads. But we know different!

Don't let your husband deter you from reaching your goals and fixing your arthritis however best you can. You can reach your goals, loose weight and you can manage your arthritis and you can live a healthy lifestyle! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Paula...Way to go on your steps.

i know and understand the pain and the movement. there are times when i stand too long or sit too long i get stiff and it is very hard to move until i get my land legs and standing too long my knees don't bend to well and i can understand being hard to do steps or just plain move, but unfortunately i have a husband who doesn't understand pain for me only for him. i won't go there with my personal life....Spark is the only place i get encouragement and i so very much appreciate it.

Today Thursday I have done 3704 steps and it is 7.30pm at night. Will get a few more in before the night is over. At least I've managed my 3000 goal for the day.

Thanks for the positive encouragement Sue! I know also that I need to move more and push myself. Most days I am fine.

After a few days if I've done exercise what normal people without arthritis would class a normal I can be really sore beyond belief where I have to sit. On those days, (very far and few between now thank goodness) I suffer sharp shooting or stabbing pains in my hips when I walk.

I dread those times as it makes walking even to go to the toilet or bed or anything virtually impossible for me without so much pain.

But yes I push through dull pain a lot of the time. It is my kind of norm if you like lol

You are also doing very well. 10,000 steps in a day is awesome!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

WOW Paula you have been doing great with your steps.

i had a few low stepping days..that were under 6,000 as that is what i have my tracker set for. today with all the walking i had 10,388 steps which is high for me. i have been contemplating on upping my steps to 7,000 as incentive to move more. i try and push through the pain as i need to keep moving with my arthritis.

Today I reached 4853 steps. Almost 5,000

At least with 3,000 steps I think we are not sedentary. You won't lose weight sitting down all the doing nothing and eating donuts lol So for me to aim for at least 3,000 steps is manageable with my arthritis. emoticon

I am kinda like you Paula. I strive for at least 3000 steps a day and on really really active days I can reach 5000 or 6000 and the odd time even 10000.

I have a Fit Bit flex that I wear every day to count my steps I have it set up with sparkpeople and have it set for myself as a goal to do no less than 3,000 steps a day.

On some good days I can do 5 or 6,000 even managed 10,000 one day without issues other days 3,000 is my limit I seem to be able to tolerate with walking.

3000 steps may not seem like much, but at least I figure I am not sitting down all day sedentary which would be worse. emoticon

I'm going to try to get back to getting more active outside the home; I was having groceries delivered but they really messed up this last time and I'm tired of that and think I will go back to grocery shopping for myself mostly. My husband and I are making a special trip this morning to get the stuff they did not deliver Monday morning, he already went out Monday afternoon to get the critical stuff. Unfortunately, the grocery store closest to us does not have good meat so we often go to another just for meat and extras so we'll go there now.

I use a pedometer and love it. I use fitbit so it automatically syncs to my pc. Most days I get over 5000, but am trying to get to 7500 per day.

I had fun measuring specific tasks; I walked from my car to the grocery store, walked down every aisle (and picked stuff :-) through the checkout and then back to the car and it was half a mile! That comes in handy when I am bored and want something "specific" to do for exercise but something that is meaningful too.

I read all the reviews of the 4-5 kinds at my local Dick's Sporting Goods and am going to make sure I get a slightly more expensive model so it won't have the problems the cheaper ones appear to of not having enough resistance or being too light weight or not enough ground clearance, etc. I joined the Senior Fitness Network for their free newsletter and bought "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Condiditions" by Kate Lorig; it covers all my various ailments it looks like.

Good for you. I used to log my steps with a pedometer until I didn't have one any more. I now have a new one but will not start logging my steps until after I have recovered from hip surgery. It has been much too hard for me to walk in the last few months.
I think a pedometer is a great motivator to keep a person moving! All the best to you in your stepping efforts. emoticon

I just got a pedometer and started measuring my steps. It is a great motivator for days that I'm feeling bad I can always try to do a few more steps... and days I'm feeling good I try to do alot more steps... is any one else logging their steps? Shall we log them daily on here?

Today I got 6025 and I'm having a great day healthwise...
Tomorrow I hope to match it.
