WTG on maintaining that 4.2 loss in spite of the eating-out thing.I do that more too when I'm going through "stuff" simply because I don't take the time to plan.

Glad you checked in here for some motivation - have you read any of the articles here on SP about emotional eating?

Blessings, Michelle

Hi there - just wanted to let it be known that I have weighed myself and I am up.. sigh.. I have been dealing with some heavy personal issues lately that have caused me to eat out more often than usual, and it is showing on the scale. Thought I'd write to get some encouragement to motivate me back on track. On the positive side, I have begun to exercise again this week, which has felt terrific! I now need to get my eating up to par.. I can see how both really go hand-in-hand! The good news is that I am still managing to hang on to a loss of 4.2 pounds....

thanks ! emoticon

Well, I am still sitting at 225. Things have not been moving all summer. I am also holding alot of water weight in my feet. Thankfully we are out of the high 90's and into the normal and lovely 70's today and for the rest of the week, they say. I am on my raw food diet for the most part again. Now I am waiting to see if anything changes on Friday, when I weigh again.

64 Kilo - not too bad, considering everything that has gone on this past month. I'm up 4.4 pounds but hope to lose at least 2 of those by my birthday on Monday. Exercising a lot to burn those calories!

Tomorrow is my monthly weigh and measure at Curves. I hope I did okay. In the past two weeks we celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary by going out to a smorgasboard for supper and then a dinner theater matinee the next day. I made some very good, healthy choices both times but also had ice cream and a couple bites of pie both times - I did stay within the calorie range but went over a little on the fats on Monday. Then we had our company picnic - no such thing as healthy choices even offered except for the BBQ chicken if we took the skin off - macaroni salad, coleslaw, baked beans, hot dogs. I skipped the buns but when I put everything in the nutrition counter, I was over on my fats for the day - not over on the calories, but way over on the fats, NOT GOOD.

When I did my weekly weigh-in on Wednesday, I lost 1/4 pound from the previous week - better than a gain.

Good for you, Marla. Me too I am finally on the move. After gaining four pounds (yikes) on my vacation, i am finally down 1.4 pound, back to my pre-vacation weight. Now I can continue with my weight loss and eat sensibly!

I decided to weigh in two days early as I am in New York city for a wedding - my husband's cousin . There will be lots of fun & food...so hence the early weigh in...

I seem to have hit a plateau at 138.6 can't seem to get lower. I have promised myself that I will get serious and back on track after my vacation on June 14...stay tuned!

Has anyone heard of the Diet Solution Program? Sounds so interesting.. with the tips I have taken from there, plus my SparkPeople Groups...I cannot fail!

The scale is evil....measure yourself other ways. I just came back from going out to lunch and I noticed that I wasn't worried about fitting in the booth, I had plenty of room!

this week I love my scale because it moved 3 lbs. I try really hard to be patient, but like you I get frustrated at only losing .5 or staying the same. I wonder if I'll see a pattern. I tend to lose 1 lb or 1/2 a lb a week then every 3rd week I lose 2 or 3. We'll see. As long as the needle is going in the right direction I'll take it!

PHD...10 pounds is wonderful - what is it 10 weeks? That's a pound a week. A steady loss is what we are looking for. Of course, we WANT instant gratification - that's human nature, but slow and steady wins the race. Keep up the good work! We are making progress! emoticon

I must admit that the weigh-in day is frustrating. I have lost 10 lbs since I started spark which is obviously around the same time as everyone else in this group... 10 lbs seems like nothing to so many others who are recording their weight on here... I officially weigh-in every 2 weeks. Last week was one of those times and I didn't lose 1 lb since the last time. Stayed exactly the same... I am officially busting my butt and really trying to stick to the caloric limit and pour on the fitness now. It is difficult to say the least and sometimes I actually hate it but really want to see that scale change next week. I wish all of you the best of luck and send positive vibes to promote your effort. The scale WILL change!!

Hi, that scale can be evil. I know that for sure. One day I'm up 5, the next I'm down 6, then I'm back up 6, then down 3. I try and tell myself that I'm just going to weigh myself once a week and check my measurements, but I always end up stepping on the scale.
I also do the C25K program and if I couldn't feel myself getting stronger from that, I probably would have given up by now. A couple of days ago, my husband and I took a 3 mile hike through the mountains and he was lagging behind me, which was unheard of before I started C25K. It's amazing what little time I've spent with it (i'm still running week 2 after about 4 weeks on the program) that I'm already seeing physical results. He was in shock that I was going so fast without breaking. It actually inspired him to start working out with me.

Keep up the good work. We'll see those pounds drop eventually!

Good morning,

Encouragement is what we all need. I still have not measured myself but I am going to wait till the end of the month. My clothes are starting to look better on me though. I took a run last night. I is so liberating when you run isn't it. I have made a commitment to run 3 times a week with c25k and one day with a podcast I have that has you running 1 minute walking 1 minute for 30 minutes. It is tough but builds my endurance. It is bikini body from shape magazine if your interested. I do that run at a different park so I feel like I am doing something different. Last night I got home at 7:30 from work and still insisted on running. My husband was amazed because I told him I was going regardless of him coming with me or not. (he doesn't like me going to the park at night alone). He was happy to hear me say that. He is very physically fit and works out about 5 days a week. He doesn't run though but he will join me a little for encouragement. He says he can't keep up with me. I am going to listen to that Miley song I have never heard it. She is a teeny bob song but she has wonderful music. I heard one on american idol a couple of weeks ago that was awesome. It's a new song I don't know the name. My goal is to also be at about 135-145. I will do this regardless of what it takes. I am not doing any strength training currently because I had surgery in my shoulder in November from a work related accident and have been unable to recover properly since then. So currently my only excercise is running. Maybe that is one of the problems. I have not measured my fat since february when the gym did it. It was at 30.1% then.
Congrats on your weight loss I know that it's not easy. I will continue to keep in touch with you. Maybe one day we will run into each other at a marathon (LOL). Thanks for your friendship I will definately add you as a friend. As soon as I figure it out.

I am so happy that my post inspired you to go try on that skirt! See, inches are coming off! Don't you feel great?!!!! Isn't it great how I inspired you to check on your measurements and you inspired me by letting me know and keep up my efforts on my end as well! Thank you for that! It is hard to keep reminding yourself that the scale is not your only measurement but for me as well my mood is greatly improved. Some times are tough of course but you know that song by Miley Cyrus, "It's the climb?" I love that. I know it is a teeny bopper song but my 4 year old loves Miley and I love that song. Such a good message. There is always goin to be another mountain, it's not about how fast you get there, it's not about what's waiting on the other side, it's the climb." (well something like that!) Let's enjoy our climb!!!! This is a lifetime committment to ourselves! I got two compliments yesterday from my fitness class instructors (both at different times and unrelated!) It made my day :) Even on a day when I was feeling particularly bloated or something (like yesterday!)!!! I have a big lot of clothes my sister in law gives me her old clothes that don't fit (too big for her!) and I keep putting them on to see how they fit. Some already have. If I can button, they fit! That is how I determine it! Then if they fit out of the wash/dryer wow, I have lost more weight! A tip I do when I go out, I wear a pair of jeans just out of dryer that just fit or a pair that I squeeze into and I am aware at all times that I have these fitted pants on when sitting out to eat. Just a reminder to myself of all the hard work I have put in and I can physically feel the waist band and myself squeezing into smaller sizes. Physical reminder to self not to over indulge! Hey, every trick helps! Sometimes we have good intentions when going out to eat and then something triggers us and we end up eating something we didn't want to and it just hurts us in the long run. Please keep me posted on your weight loss. check out my spark page and friend me/ we can friend ourselves if you want. Not sure how to do that yet. I started off at 225 lbs. and am now down to 176.2 lbs. today!!! Almost 50 lbs. I started spark around 180s (can't remember number as to me I started at 225) but my goal is 150 to 145 lbs :) I hope to hear from you soon and thanks again for inspiring me!!!! I am going to try on a pair of my sister-in-law's pants again today to see if any of them zipper that wouldn't!!! How were your measurements? Have you tried measuring body fat? We have a body fat hand held measurer you use in the morning before drinking. It is kind of aggravating because it makes you feel way fat by the number but if you use the first number as a gauge it may be helpful to take a second number a month or so later and use that as a gauge also but only if it is a good number! Don't let a stupid machine get you down!!! :)I will go for a run today, won't you? Let's run together (well I live in Massachusetts but you can run there and I can run here and you can let me know how you make out). Together we will run our "butts" off!! Or stomachs or whatever... :)

Thank you for the kind words and great advice. I do feel much better. This morning when I read your comment I decided to try on a skirt from last year and saw that it fitted. Still somewhat tight but last year it would not even button up. That made me happy. I am going to measure myself tonight and see if I lost some inches. I have also noticed that my work uniform pants are starting to look big around the legs and waste area. Maybe I am just losing some inches for now.

I do feel great after running. I feel as if I have found a new found love. I want to keep running when I do it and look forward to doing it again the next day. I wish I could do it daily since I can't do any other physical activity right now due to an arm injury. Hopefully once I am able to do some aerobics I will start to see more results.

Hi! Don't you feel great? Running faster, you are leaning up, you are creating muscle, you are conditioning your heart. Try not to (we all need to and me included!) use just the scale as a gauge. Do your clothes feel better? I have some pants my sister in law gave me that were not even "pull'uppable" and now I can zip them. I use things like this to gauge my weight as well. Sometimes the darn scale just doesn't reflect what we are doing. I find that I have stretches of weeks where I hover around the same number or go up and down and then have a drop in a certain week. Not sure if it is related to hormones or just the body is clinging to all it can to keep the extra pounds on. I think we are biologically made to want to keep the weight on and we are working against this. We are literally fighting most of the time get the weight off, you know? :) I always wonder why I feel so good exercising and eating right yet I continue to struggle with eat. When we eat "bad" how come it makes us feel "bad" and then we want more? Weird, huh? Keep up the great work!!!!! Running will transform you! Running is so mental and physical. Knowing you and only you have the control over your running, You can stop when you want to but you choose not to! You are strong! You can do it!!! GO !!!!! :) Just hang in there!!! I read the thread, letters to our body, check it out, it is inspiring and cute all at the same time! It made me think and I highly recommend you check it out!!! Keep doing all you are doing, you are doing great!!!!! emoticon

I couldn't find a weigh in thread so I thought I would create one. Needless to say I am back at my original weight (184) I started with. Very dissapointed since I thought I was doing better then I actually am and I am in this 3 weeks now, but the good news is I can run better now that I started the c25k so I'll take the weight gain for now. Hopefully it will all fall off eventually. I will try to stay positive and review what my meal's are to see were the loop hole is. :(
