Hi, Mike. to SparkPeople! To join any team, look at the top of the main team page and click on the Join This Team button.
If you haven't already, it's helpful to read through the Getting Started Guide. Go to the Quick Links at the lower right side of this page, then click on the Getting Started Guide link. It will help you set up your Spark Page and provide lots of info for getting started. It's especially helpful to use the Nutrition and Fitness Trackers. Remember, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet.

On your sparkpoints page there is an area called one time challenges - create a spark page is one! that should get you started. Then your sparkpage will show your teams - ist team should be your state team.
