HI... I borrowed this book from the local library and fell in love with it. I found a used copy that was affordable and I am now impatiently waiting for it to arrive.

After reading her book, I went Vegan overnight. I am really drawn to trying to be as superhero as possible. I am going to intermingle the recipes from Alicia's books with the recipes from Christina Pirello's book "This Crazy Vegan Life". This is another one I really like.

I am so glad I found a group for fans of The Kind Diet. I love her website as well. She is just awesome.

Anyway... good luck everyone. I look forward to sharing the journey through her recipes with you.

I've tried a few recipes, but I think they were in the vegan section. The ceasar salad is awesome. I make that dressing all the time. I've made the birkenstock casserole and the pasta with cabbage and onions (forget the name). Both were really good. The birkenstock casserole is rich because of the tahini. Very different flavor though, if you like tahini (which I love)! I made the ginger tofu and the flavor was strong the first day, but the second day it was fabulous. I can't remember if I did something else to it or not, but I loved it the next day.

Not superhero, but I made a recipe from a book I just got called Yellow Ribbon Recipes and I made the penne alfredo. It was so good and easy. It had cashews, garlic, soy milk, flour (for the roux), pasta and some herbs. It was so yummy!

Aww that's sweet about your son - atleast he has a good role model at home and you're cooking all this great vegan food so he's very lucky!

I've only made the Weight Loss Tea (yum), Buck Choy with Umeboshi Vinagerette (yum), Azuki Beans with Kabocha Squash (yuck imo), Pan Fried Mochi (don't think I made it right it was v weird) and the Red Radish Tabbouleh (yum). That's about it so far! Have you made any recipes from the book? Which would you recommend?

Ahh - that is so cute. My son become a vegetarian last summer at Disney for one night. By lunch the next day he gave it up. He also made me a I'm going vegan powerpoint one night this past fall, but that also didn't last, lol. I know he would like to, but he is young 13 and at least I know he is thinking about the connection and maybe someday he will decide it's right for him. I just work on trying to get them to eat as much vegan as possible and try to remember I can't change them or expect them to change for me. It's a personal choice they would have to make. At least they are aware and are learning that vegan stuff doesn't taste bad. My family is loving the vegan cookies/bars I've been making this holiday.

I think we sound like we are both looking to do the same thing. I want to include more superhero foods, but doubt I could do 100%. I think I could do close to 100% clean, but sometimes it's not always possible.

Have you made any of the superhero recipes from Alicia's book?

Hi Melanie, I'm not going to be 100% superhero but am going to try and cook and eat a lot of superhero meals. I have hardly had any wheat or sugar at all this past week but have had quite a bit of potato.

That's great that your husband and son are willing to do a vegan month - what a great idea! My husband likes all of the vegan food I make but often wants to add in some meat as a side - he feels a lot better for all the extra vegies though. My youngest son has decided he's now a "vegetawian" (he's 4) but my 6 year old has some anxiety around food (and other things) so he's not too sure. He was happy to learn that fries were not made from animals though lol!

Yeah!!

Are you planning on only eating this way, or just adding more meals? I try to eat clean, so I feel it's pretty close but without the rules of the nightshades and a few of the other stricter macrobiotic rules.

I've been collecting so many vegan cookbooks since last year and my favorites are the ones with tons of clean recipes. I find that a lot of times, vegan cookbooks are clean by nature. It takes away a lot of the processed foods and uses more natural ingredients including making more of your own items for a recipe.

I'm actually going to be doing a "vegan month" for my husband and son once my daughter goes back to college. She is pickier and complains, but I think my husband and son will be ok. They like most of the things I cook anyway.

This is for anyone who wants to become a superhero, eat more superhero meals or just discuss superhero thoughts and ideas.

For me, eating a superhero diet is similiar to eating clean. It's cutting out the processed foods. I'm looking forward to this discussion.
