It is actually very easy...just have the protein and a vegt, maybe salad. Skip the carbs and sugar.

I haven't stayed with the plan since Sunday. Been at the hospital where my little great niece was delivering her baby. She almost bled to death when the baby finally came after over 30 hours of labor. What a beautiful little girl. Anyway, I am back on track tomorrow and no excuses.

The last time I visited my son I weighed myself. That was at Christmas. I came back yesterday to visit and I have lost 13 pounds. I started BFC a week ago so I am not sure if I lost that in a week or since Christmas. But for the first time in a long time I actually lost!! I try to weigh on the same scale.

These are the stairs I have to get up and down without dying(LOL).

Day #2.....I couldn't wrap my mind around the Fast Track just yet. It was a rough Christmas. So I read The Belly Fat Cure and I LOVE it!!!! I am not hungry. I am finding new foods that I like and the kids like. And don't feel deprived. So can't wait to see what the scale says next week. Or tomorrow. Lol.. I plan on trying the Fast Track when I hit a plateau.

Reading a book called Eat, Stop, Eat by Brad Pilon...follows same guidelines...two day a week fasting days...max fast time is 24 hours, can be shorter if needed...non-consecutive days..minimal exercise or skip on fasting days...will cause the body to turn to burning fat storages on fast days...he strongly recommends weight training to build muscle...

Becky, how are you doing on the carb cycling called for in the new Happy Hormones book?

I have the book and got a little lost reading it, then I realized it is similar to the intermittent fasting diet called the Fast Diet. 2 days on with very low calories and 5 days normal each week. I tried that a while ago and it does work, so I thought this should work also. I think I can get through 2 very low carb days a week.

Jorge says to do it 2 days in a row, right? When I tried the Fast Diet, I just did 2 non consecutive days during the week. It was supposed to keep your body guessing and prevent it from going into starvation mode.

Hope your first week on the diet was successful. : )

We are in the same boat with husbands...mine has diabetes too..does not follow a great routine for management...wish we were able to row in the same direction..would help on both of our health improvements.

OCEANLUVR, thank you for the idea to check out the team called Smart Carbing. I've read lots of good info so far, and really great for my DH who has diabetes.

I placed my Amazon order today for the new book Happy Hormones, Slim Belly. Should have it on Saturday or Monday. I'll let you know what I think of it.

Still trying to get my DH to read The 100 diet book. : (
It would be much easier to follow the plan if we were both on the same general plan and not buying all the high carb foods anymore. He does the grocery shopping!

Oh yes, Sugar is definitely a problem for me, but even more is wheat in the form of bread (easy sandwich meals) and crackers (with my healthy veggie soups!). I just haven't figured out good substitutions or how to go without them. It always gets me in the end when I try to give them up and I end up going on a binge. : (

I think I need to figure out how to set up a place for my crock pot in the kitchen and make up stews with meats and veggies. Except I have to watch carrots, parsnips and potatoes, right? I guess that leaves onions and garlic. I have never been a salad lover and now that the weather is soooo cold, I really don't want them. Anybody have good ideas for warm, comforting foods that fit the plan?

I'm still reading the book and haven't jumped in yet. Trying to fix all the new ideas in my mind and set up my kitchen for it first. Hope to start by the end of the week.

I'm new to the team and just got The 100 diet book from the library. So far I am enjoying it as I read about the science behind the diet. I am still waiting for the Happy Hormones, Slim Belly book by Jorge for women over 40. It is being released on Dec 23rd, but Amazon says it will be in stock on the 12th. Supposedly it works better for weight loss when you are older if you only do the strict diet 2 days a week since your body needs higher carbs, I guess for your hormones, on the other days. I will be 63 next month, so it sounds good to me.

I read the article on the truth about carbs in the resource section. There is truth in what they say, but if you follow Jorge's 100 diet you will want to avoid white rice, juices and even grains to lose belly fat which you asked about when you wanted to know what foods get rid of belly fat.
Read the 100 book to understand the science. We can get all the carbs we need from green veggies and do not need grains to be healthy. Man was designed to be an omnivore, fruit was nature's candy and seasonal. You need good fats like nuts, olive oil and coconut oil,
lean protein in moderation.
The belly fat cure was developed first and allows whole bread products, but as Jorge did more research he distilled a simpler lifestyle that made it faster to see results in health improvements.
Some people find it hard to give up foods they're used to, so it's better to make changes in the right direction than give up the fight. The important thing is to do what works for you at the pace you can adapt to and avoid an all or none attitude.
With this in mind, the Belly Fat Cure has a lot to offer to a wide range of people.

Protein bar is homemade 12 carb 1 sugar 7 fiber and 15 protein
I eat from my farm pasture raised clean foods I just don' t get enough protein.
How do you count your green veggies?
I like kale and cabbage and spinach lots of salads with radish cukes etc
They are all carbs do you count the fiber as well?
Like the skinny muffin the flax is all fiber but do you include the count in your carbs?
Lunch was tuna and mixed salad and 4triscuits
Dinner was bad 6 fish sticks broccoli salad and 1/2 cup twice baked potato.
Exercise was garden mulching and farm winterizing all day walked about 4 miles lifted 50 lb feed sacks shoveled pushed a barrow

I track my carbs by not eating hardly any. I have a protein shake for breakfast with 20 g protein, 1T flax oil and 1 c. mixed berries. Other than that I eat protein and greens during the day. Keeping it simple...I just want to lose the weight. I will worry about adding some brn rice and oatmeal and other goodies down the line. I know it will slow me down. Protein bars usually have too many carbs and sugar.I just don't eat prepared foods. Keeping it clean, keeping it REAL!!

How are you tracking your carbs?
Fresh kale comes up with 4 sugars?
My salad greens romaine cabbage and spinach mix show 3 sugars
Trying
he straight bfc loosing the same 1/2 pound over and over.
I am eating less than the 5/2 per meal almost fast track no grains or only 1 of the 6 allowed.
Today I had triscuit with my tuna.
I will probably eat a protein bar later as I have been working mulching weeding diggingfor over 5 hours today.
Another question why does all of the above count as cardio?

I use Stevia, it is a plant.

We met and got married in Hawaii, I grad from HS there. So we are going on the cruise for our 50th anniversary which was June 15...

FYI sugar free jello has artificial sweeteners Jorge discourages as it might still increase insulin & make you hungry for more sweets. Skip the jello & eat 1/2 cup 4% cottage cheese for sure results. Add some walnuts if you like.

Cottage cheese has alwsys been one of my favorite side dishes....great protein source.
Cheese sticks are handy to have at work too!

I go for low fat cheese except cottage cheese. I figure that leaves me room for the healthy fats like avocado or olive oil.
