Ahead of you....I've been taking 2 milk thistle 3x/d for the last two weeks....it really is a great liver cleanser.....most of the world knows about it...but there isn't much money for the pharmacutical companies in the herbs. (end of editorial)

Hey Terrie,
that reminds me of my fruits/veggies cleanse I did back in march. That was GREAT. Good luck with it. they have a vegitarian protein stuff that is called "smart ground" it was kind of nice to throw in with my veggies sometimes.

Keep up the great cleansing. Also if you can - buy some Milk thistle - it is very good for your liver so that it doesn't get over stressed by the cleansing.

Victoria - I'm doing a 'heavy on the fruits and veggies for the next 10 days. It is a real challenge and I need to take more seeds/nuts to work. I got really hungry today because I brought the 'normal' quantity of food, but it was so light on calories that I 'bout starved to death...(if only it were that easy to force the bod to use this excess fat)...

It is supposed to be a great liver cleanse to focus on Fruits and Veggies...good thing it is farmer's market time...lots of fresh local stuff to be had about now...GOOD TIMING.....

Sounds GREAT terri!

I should try that food rotation thing.

Hey on the pictures. do you go and pop up that screen every time to get a new picture or do you have a faster way of doing them... it seems to take a life time for me to add pictures (emoticons) so I don't do them very often.

This week I am working on a more POSITIVE outlook

Starting a new 12-week rotation with more variety

Planning a food rotation schedule that will allow me to eat a wider variety - while not eating the same food type every single day (ie: For grains one day will be a wheat day...one day will be an oat day...etc. For Protein: one day will be dairy, one legume, one eggs, one nuts...etc.....fruits and veggies don't have to be the same as they are not generally items that cause food sensativities)

Every third or fourth book I read will be strictly for fun (not for fitness, nutrition, or self improvement)

I will more closely focus on my cleaning schedule for organization.

This week I will do at least 5 days of some kind of cardio intensive exercise for at least 1 hour each day. So maybe do biking - or elipical or *cringe* running (more like jogging cause I suck at it)

It's been one week and I do feel better. It is amazing, though, how easy it is to FALL BACK into bad breathing habits. I'm going to continue this challenge right along with my current 12-week BFL rotation. By the end of this rotation - four more weeks - 'HAPPY' belly breathing should be an established habit.

I have noticed that some clothes are more conducive to belly breathing. When I wear something even slightly restrictive I notice I can't get full bottom lung breaths..so on those days - every time I go to the bathroom and am free from the restraints I do deep belly breathing.

Where there is a will - there is a way!

added for this breathing 'funny':

When I was at the dentist - having a metal filling replaced with a composite one - I was on the gas...I can't do dentist's without the gas...anyway - it was going well :o) and then all of a sudden I couldn't get a breath. Doc asked me if everything was ok...his hands were in my mouth and I'm 'shouting' I can't breathe...he adjusted the clothing protector and held my hand...I'm like making HUGE eyes and wiggling around...then he pulled up the mask and said what's up ...I asked him to move his leg from PINCHING THE GAS/OXYGEN TUBE...he was cutting off my supply of AIR....too funny
(now, not then)

Dee - I have both her 'exercise' tapes. I don't use them anymore...I am just practicing specific belly breathing exercises. I'm feeling much, much better...don't know if it is specifically the breathing or the fact that I have had more energy to get my white-skinned self out in the sun for yard work...now getting a very nice tan - and lots of fresh air.....I would be thinking that belly breathing would be more like adding yummy dessert to an already full plate.... :o)

Terri what an awesome week challenge to do and you are 100% correct about the o2 being really important. Breath work will be awesome to do. I have some tapes around here somewhere...ah yes here they are. They are called OXYCISE by Jill Johnson from Colorado. Have you heard of her? I'm not sure if I myself am rady to try these tapes again. hehe. Don't want to get too much on my plate at the moment. But I certainly support you in your endevour and look forward to seeing how this helps you this week :)

I shared this information with a few women at work. We're all in the challenge together. Purposeful breathing from the belly. It does take some thought - more than I would have imagined. I slept well again last night and woke up more refreshed.

I even lost another Ĺ pound.

The lungs have an air capacity of 17 pints. Most people only breathe in 2-3 pints at the most. No wonder weíre starving all the time. Iíd venture to say it isnít food weíre so hungry for, but oxygen - and of course water. Of course, the secret is in balancing it allÖNutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust.

emoticon Oxygen is my friend :o)

Purposeful breathing is HARD work! My intercostals are sore! I did sleep pretty well thoughÖalthough I noticed that when Iím about to fall off to sleep my breathing slows way down and becomes very shallow. Iíll have to work on that!!

My challenge this week is to belly breathe more often.

Think about it.
There are three things that the body needs EVERY SINGLE DAY..

Oxygen
Food
Water

We are always focused on the FoodÖ.Sometimes the Water, but RARELY are we even the slightest bit aware of our breath.

Iíve been re-reading a book you might find interesting. I believe it is real simple!

Jumpstart Your Metabolism by Pam Grout
"How to lose weight by changing the way you breathe"
"-burn calories more efficiently"
"-Increase your energy"
"-reduce stress and anxiety"

I used to do this all the time when I was slim.
Go figure - quit breathing right = gain weight.

I'm going to give myself a week challenge....
this week I'm belly breathing again every hour on the hour for 5 minutes -
(that seems to help make it a habit..)
the costal muscles get sore at first, but then they are fine once they get stronger by breathing correctly.

You may be able to get the book at the library, I donít know if it is still in print. Copyright is 1996

Why not add some deep breathing into your fitness plan and see what happens - couldnít hurt - unless of course you hyperventilate

Breathe well my friends... emoticon

I gotta go and get something done today...my day off...

Thanks Buff for the links. they are great.

I have sort of lost track of what I am doing. I have not been on SP much because of the Thanksgiving and Christmas Preps I have been doing this apst week and this next week. Even though Thanksgiving is not a tradition in Norway (for obvious reasons) I still celebrate it with family and friends. It's important for my kids to have some American traditions too. Plus my kids school is having a Christmas bazaar on Saturday and I have to make stuff for that. Busy, Busy. So I will probably not check in everyday but as often as I can. I now will go in a post my nutrition and exercise for the past three days and see where I stand.

By the way, yesterday I was running around doing arrands and lots of stuff and wasn't drinking enough water. funny enough that my body told me by giving me a headache. So I downed a .5liter bottle of water and headache was gone.

I look forward to the new challenge.

Hi,

Everything was in check yesterday. I'm still holding on to 80 points. I just got back from the gym and I'm gettting ready to thrown down some breakfast so I'm guaranteed to get at least half of it right today.

Buffed, I just noticed your ticker! WOW. One pound to your targeted weight goal, although I know you've reached many goals along the way. Congratulations.

All in all, it seems like everyone did really well. I'm having my body fat tested on Monday or Tuesday so this will provide me with a better idea.

I'm still holding on to 83 for the past 2 days. My water intake is right on, always have breakfast, ST on Monday and cardio on Tuesday (though my cardio consisted of 30 minutes shoveling snow) and my calories are within range.

Are we really done with this challenge tomorrow? That month went fast.

Very clean breakfast, 3.5 miles run, albeit slow, calories under max,(barely) and 8 glasses of water.

Buffed, I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing you just might be a Keith Urban fan. emoticon

I ws so busy bragging about my very good challenge day on Sunday. Now I'm here hanging my head in shame because I lost 2 points yesterday. (Just kidding about the shame part.) My water fell short by a glass and I went over calories by close to 200. On the other hand, breakfast as usual and a really good weight workout and cardio to start yesterday morning.

That leaves me with 80 and room for improvement today.

Wendy, no, it is not vain to watch your muscles rippling and bulging. That's a much heatlthier approach than to be in the gym focusing on your less than perfect parts. Enjoy the results of your hard work.

Buffed, I didn't know Keith Urban was from NZ, thought he was American lol, so how out of the loop am I?

Umm Theresa, I've had this picture on my profile for a few months now lol. I got it in an e-mail from a friend, thought it would do nicely :o) Glad you like it :o)

Anyway still on 92, had all my water, breaky, worked out and stayed in my cals 1723.
It was a great day today, life is very, very good.

I didn't lose any points today. Yipee!

Wendy, Pirates Booty is a brand of popcorn. It is already popped when you purchase it and has a white cheddar cheese flavor. It's about 130 calories per serving, but when you eat the entire bag (4 servings) as I do, it becomes very problematic.

Buffed, I'll bite at the carrot you're dangling? What do you have in store? It's probably a good thing we're switching/modifying the challenge shortly as I really don't want to have to dip into the 70's on this one. Ha Ha. Actually, overall I have made progress this last month or so. I will be having my body fat tested again in about 7-10 days so I hope to see some results there, as well.

Now I'm at 82.

Once again, it was going over on calories that did me in. I went over by close to 400 calories. :( Pirates Booty Popcorn: What a waste of time, carbs and calories. Everything else was on track. I'm going to load up on veggies at the grocery tomorrow and try to do some batch cooking. At least some batch cutting and preping the veggies.

Still on 92. I've had two good days, busy though so I haven't had a chance to catch up in here.
I've been staying in my cal range, getting lots of water and everything so all's going well.

Holding on to 83. I was at the lower end of my cals yesterday but within range. I sem to be at one extreme or the other. Over or under but not within. My new schedule with school has gotten me a bit off track. I'm working on it.

Hello,

Well I've dropped another point due to going over my maximum calories, leaving me at 83. I was actually on track until later in the evening when I overdid it on bran cereal.

I got the rest in without any problems.

Good day ladies (seems like there are no men willing to be challenged) -

I am down one more point for Tues. Went over cals. I seems to be having an eating problem lately. I'm comforting myself because I have been sick. It's hard to break the habit.

I was at 85 on Monday minus 1 for Tues. Did great yesterday and today I seem to be on the right track too. But the day is only half over. I had a snack of canned pears (no additives/sugar) with chocolate syrup. YUM!!

84 and hopefully not counting.

Theresa

Managed to stay within my cals today (1688), although didn't eat well, had a few chocolate covered apricots, told myself the apricots were healthy and the chocolate coating wasn't too thick.....who am I kidding. lol

Had a different breaky (just for you Marcia) this morning. Toasted bagel with light cream cheese and marmalade, oh boy it was lovely, just like dessert.
Lol, I do love food unfortunately.

Had all my water, got my workout in (run) so I'm sticking on 92.

Another 1 point deduction, leaving me at 85.

Once again, went over on my calories by about 250. Way too many carbs and not enough veggies. Thanks goodness I got in a good weight workout this morning followed by cardio, breakfast and, of course, my water.

I seem to be fizzling out toward the end of this challenge, but.....

tomorrow is another day to improve.

I lost 1 point Sunday for going over on calories, leaving me at 86. Nothing really too horrible - just could have made better and fewer food choices. The good news is that I am back on the no candy track. Water, breakfast and cardio were all in check for Sunday.

Hi all,

Well I finally broke down after about 6 weeks of not eating candy, etc. I ate so much of it yesterday, along with other crap, that the amount goes way way beyond a binge. That's the very bad news.

However, I'm starting anew today and the good news is that I don't at all have that mindset that I might as well eat poorly since "I already blew it."
I've already laced up my shoes and am getting ready to go out for a run.

So, that leave me at 87. Yesterday was a day off, with breakfast and water in check.

Have a good day, all. I'll post again this eveing when I fully expect to report I'm back on track.

Somehow my last post didn't come through on here and I have been off the PC for a couple of days as I had no internet connection.
Anyway, I'm at 93, lost a point on Friday night because I missed working out. We bought a new PC and I spent the evening trying to get an internet connection going lol.
Otherwise I've been good and on track with everything else so
93 here.
I'm still trying to catch up with everything I've missed, it feels weird and unfamiliar being on a new PC too, funny isn't it.
Hope you're all haveing a wonderfully successful weekend :o)

Tinkerbell, hehehe.

Well I am holding on 94 today, had my 8 glasses, did a circuits workout at the gym tonight, ate 1517 cals and rice porridge for breakfast. I thought I would try it but I wasn't impressed with the flavour although it stacks up well against oatmeal as it has more protein, more fibre and less fat.

How's everyone else going ?

Well it doesn't appear that I have posted in a few days. I have been recuperating from a nasty cold that I am afraid is turning into pneumonia. Happens every October because of the cold damp air. But I have some inhalants that I have started to take but it takes about 2 weeks to work and it's awful medicine. Gives me headaches and the shakes. But there isn't anything else they can give me. I have a 5k on Saturday too. We will have to see how I feel.

As for points I was at 90 and will have to subtract 2 for the past days because of calories. If though I have been sick I am still trying to do some exercises everyday.

keep up the good work everyone.

I'm glad halloween isn't a big deal here, I haven't had to get candy in for the kids. I would be so tempted to have some of it if I did. I have a very sweet tooth, it is my downfall.

Be strong with the candy Marcia, buy something you don't like so much :o)

Happy Halloween everyone.

Hey everyone,

I lost another point today due to eating beyond my max calories. So, now I'm at 90.

I kinda feel myself slipping just a bit on the food part of this equation. I did get in breakfast, gym and water today. Tomorrow will be slightly challenging as I'll have Halloween candy in the house. I put off buying it so far but will be forced to pick some up tomorrow. The good news is that there are so many kids that trick-or-treat, we always run out no matter how much we have.

Anyway, I need to be making better food choices or I'll soon be asking for extra credit to make up for some of my lost points.

Have a nice evening.

Hi all,

92-1= 91

Calories were way over. I'm not even sure how to track them. Was at a Halloween party and broken down toward the end. Good news: No candy corn or candy or desserts eaten there. Even refrained from the alcohol.

Wendy, way to go on your first run! That's awesome.

PurpleOctopus- great results. Congrats!

95 still. 10 water, 1465 cals in, 603 cals out and definitely had breakfast.
Went to the 5k run today but the weather was terrible so we turned back for home. Got home and plotted out our own 5k circuit, then ran that. It went ok, I had to walk a couple of times when the wind became fierce and I got a bit breathless but managed to complete the 5ks in 31.30 mins, so am happy with that.
Hope you've all had a great weekend, glad your neck's improving Purple Octopus. Congrats on the weight loss too :o)

I skipped my workouts on Thursday and Friday also. I have a better range of motion in my neck today, at least I can turn my head to the side. I am going to do some light cardio today.

98-2 = 96

I lost 2 lbs and a couple inches (not all from one place obvioulsy) this week, so I guess the rest did me good or something. I'm still stir crazy and can't wait to get back to my regular routine.

Welcome back Buffed, we missed ya !! Good trip?? where did you go?

Ok, I did ok on the water, breakfast and workout, but bombed on the cals... not sure how much over, I stopped counting.

I'm running my first 5k race tomorrow and it has me a bit hyped up and nervous. Hopefully the race will burn lots of cals lol.
Wish me luck.
:o)
so 96 -1 = 95
