Today my main focus was on the abs, and we had to do some stretching and I ran a short three miles. Tomorrow we go back to full schedule. emoticon

I have just come off a half-marathon high. emoticon I am three week out from a figure competition and I am locked in this crazy world of double split training. I am also ten weeks out from my second half marathon.

So we are blasting the early mornings with a daily run, spin class, and a weight training session. not to mention posing class.

evenings we get to do it again with a weight training class isolated ab work and more posing. This is classical over training not adviced for sane people. I still have three more weeks of this routine left. We want to see what magic we can sprinkle on this old carcass. emoticon

It is unbelievable how quickly Rotation #7 went.
It was a good one for me. Splits/Yoga
I am getting more agile and that is good (the older I get the more I realize that movement and agility are more important than muscle-size.
I've read:
'You're only as young as your spine is subtle'

I BELIEVE IT. emoticon .......it's still possible even at pushing 55. :o)

Slim in 6 didn't even last 45 minutes.
A W F U L
at least forme. emoticon can you say boring?

I've been loving the morning workouts and the evening ones have consisted of a combination of rebounding, dance, yard work, malibu pilates... regular pilates and some old fashion low impact aerobics. Anything to counteract the day of sitting.

I don't know how cubicle bound people do it.
I'd be a basket case.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Callenge #5 starts on the 23 and goes through June 26

In the morning, I'll be doing THE FIRM BSSI workouts alternating with CATHE INTENSITY Circuits, and of course more yoga.

In the evening, I'll be doing Slim-in-6
At least that is the plan....if I remember correctly when I got them a few years back they were very boring.
I keep seeing new infomercials for those old workouts...so, I thought I'd bring them out of the retirement and give them a whirl.
If they don't work this time - I'll be doing some variety of dancing....currently in LOVE with Bollywood dance....with an Indian flavor. Nice....

How is everyone else doing?

Terri, I hope your enjoying your rest week. You back will be very appreciative of you appointment.

I'm doing well balancing my cardio and strength training. Today, I was able to get through more sets of push-ups than I've done in quite some time. I'm still having some trouble with a knot I have in the side of my left bicep but I've been working through it. My running is really being kicked up a notch this week.

Rest week for me. So glad. I am doing mostly yoga and pilates this week.
I go to the Chiro on Wed. Can't wait.
I have a Massotherapist at work that has a private practice. I will be getting in there soon...at least once every 5-8 wks. Ah....can't wait.

I'm 6 weeks into my Summer Challenge. Results have been amazing. I've been steadily losing about 1 pound per week and I can feel my clothes getting looser. I'm getting into shape again. Simply controlling my eating and alternating running and strength training have done the trick. With my cardio kicking it up a notch with week 5 of C25K, I expect to see even more fat loss.

Terri-I, too, have needed to reduce my weight loads. The cool thing is seeing results without my back giving me fits.

Today starts Week #3 of my 3rd 2010 Challenge.
I've had a few injuries that have slowed me down - but not to a stop.
I've lightened my weight loads and am adding more yoga/pilates for stretching and strengthing the supporting muscles....which are more in number than the main 'weightlifting focused muscles'.

AND those little muscles are the ones that can cause the greatest PAIN and discomfort when they are not strong enough to handle the LOAD of heavier weights.

This is like the second time I've realized this.
I hope there is no more epiphanies.....at least not ones where I already have the solutions.

Dee - It's great to see that you're plugging away and working hard! It's a struggle but we're all going to keep at it. We get a little stronger and smarter each day. I love the challenge!

Don't you just love it when you find a workout that you love, does the job and you have fun with? I'm a big kickboxing fan, too.

I need to try Pilates sometime - I have a couple of workouts, I just keep putting them off. I'll try them during my next active recovery week.

Weight loss countdown:
15 pounds to go!

Don't force the numbers, they'll come. My job today is to adhere to a winning pattern of action that I know will produce results if I follow it consistently. (hussmanfitness.org)

Patrick - it is fun to see familiar faces! I'm with you on the goals 3 and 4!

Workout: Chest and Biceps: did heavier on some exercises than last time, and lighter on others - I guess it all balanced out because I still felt like I got a good workout. I wanted to slack for some reason, but I kept pounding away.

Nutrition: By drinking a large can of V-8, I actually got in 4 fruits and veggies at lunch, if you count the large V-8 as 2 veggies. (Along with black beans and a banana. I think I'm going to have to lay out my beans & V-8 to eat everyday in order to get more veggies in - I love both so that might be an excellent way to get more veggies in. Water: easy for me today.

It's great to see familiar faces! Here are my 2010 challenges/goals:
1. I'm at 226 LBS and my body does not like it! I still have plenty of energy and people don't think I weigh as much as I do but I do not feel nearly as quick and nimble as I should.
2. Eating is being changed big time. More veggies and lean protein.
3. More than ever before, my workouts are crucial and I will not get slack. It's so easy to let the cold hinder me from working out but I'm not giving in.
4. I'm training to be prepared for the Spring 2010 5K season.

Victoria - congrats on your commitment to making a new life for yourself!

I love STS - I am always attracted to the P90X commercials because the transformations are great (and a dream for me!), and that it has a 3-month program all laid out. Here's what I like best about STS:
-it's a 3-month strength program that is progressively harder and I feel such a sense of accomplishment in finishing each segment
-Cathe encourages you to write down what weights you're using during the rests so you can see what you're lifting each time and it encourages you to lift heavier next time. (Terri has charts that she can email you to make tracking very easy. The charts lists what strength combos you will be working so you can get your mind wrapped around it. I got really spoiled by seeing the exercises all laid out like that.)
- I definitely noticed increased strength and toning throughout the program.

Shock Cardio is a great complement to STS - it has a lot of variety - which is great. It's not a 3-month progression like STS - I'm not sure how it goes along with STS, except that it's new and STS needed a cardio component. I only had 3 Cathe cardio dvd's, so this was a nice addition for me because of the variety. I've enjoyed every workout that I've done so far, but I'm pretty tight with my money, so I probably wouldn't have purchased all of them if I already had a lot of Cathe cardio workouts. (I'm hoping to work up to all of them, but cardio isn't my favorite so it will be a challenge.)

Does anyone know if there's a Shock Cardio rotation listed on Cathe.com that goes along with the STS? I would love that since they are supposed to complement each other.

No plan for me as of yet... the only thing I can wrap my mind around is the idea that I WILL be doing more in 2010.

Hub will be out of town Tomorrow thru Thursday and when he returns I hope to be able to make a trip to the store and go shopping for some real healthy stuff. It's time to make a new life for myself.

About the Cathe stuff... I have a bunch of the DVD's but not the special sets. I'm thinking of getting them... Are they worth the investment now that you gals have had them?

I'm doing 3 months of Cathe Friedrich's Shock Cardio and Shock Training System, too (the same as Terri).

My other challenges and comitments to myself are:
- lose 10 pounds
- eat clean
- get 5-9 vegetables into my daily diet - not just some days

To the best and healthiest year ever!
