We're having a fabulous time exploring Australia - right now we're in a camper van, travelling up the east coast - have just reached the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef! Hope to swim, dive, go boating - we'll see what we can afford and fit in! We have another 1100 km (660 or so miles) to travel before we turn in the camper on Aug 6!

And we're heading to the island of Western Samoa on Aug 14 - I think we're ready for another country or two.

Will meet up with DH's brother and SIL in Thailand in January. Not sure where we'll go, or what we'll see - or even how we'll get there.

But that's the general plan.

Been good, crazy busy but doing okay. Still have the issue with my lump in my stomach but the doctor said to lose some weight first and then they will worry about it. So I've been working on that and eating better. My oldest kids have been gone for the summer with their grandparents on a road trip to Vegas for a family reunion. How have you been?

That's exactly my thinking phebess, BTW my old screen name was amb3rkenji, just wanted something different in case you wondering about the new name. I'm a huge Doctor who fan.

I'm in a similar situation as Whovian - my DH was diagnosed positive and with active full-blown AIDS after we'd been together for 7 years (but not yet married). So, well, it was difficult at first, I was scared and upset and angry - but with meds he bounced back, and I think we've gotten closer after having gone through that trauma. And that's partly why he finally decided we should get married, since I stuck with him. I talked to a few friends, and basically my viewpoint is what kind of person would I be if I dumped him because of this diagnosis? I wouldn't if he had cancer or heart disease, why is HIV any different?

No one really "close" to me is positive but I do know a couple of people. It really didn't change my reaction to them. Made me a bit sad for what they have to go through but I'm not going to treat someone with HIV any differently on a personal level than someone with diabetes. It is a disease not the definition of the person.

my husband is HIV + and at first it was scary ONLY because I immediately thought the worst about him getting sick and dying of a young age but once I spoke to others and doctors and realized he could live pretty much just as long of a life as me, I've accepted it. I mean yes it's an adjustment, we use protection when were intimate and I get tested every year but I love him and treat him no differently than I did before I found out he was positive.

I know everyone has a different reaction to different things, but no matter who you are or where you come from, finding out that someone you are close to has HIV is a big thing to learn. How would/did you cope with it?
