One thing to bear in mind is that it took some time. It took a week or so to get aligned with a Dr. in the UK and about the same amt of time in Spain. In London I went to A&E, and they helped me. I was in a small village in Spain, so I went to the local clinic there.

That is correct. I had to visit a doc in both countries, and have labs/blood work done.

Thank you for the info.

To clarify - you were able to find the meds you needed, no problem? We had problems finding DH's meds in Costa Rica when our backpacks were stolen.

I'm a US citizen and have had to get meds in both the UK and Spain in 2011...both times it involved paperwork for their national healthcare and a visit to a dr (free).

Has anyone travelled or lived outside the US or Canada, and had experience with finding HIV medications? DH and I are planning to travel for the first 10 or so years of retirement (beginning next Sept.) and the biggest issue is finding and buying his meds. Any ideas or suggestions?

We currently get meds from our medical insurance company's pharmacy - but they won't ship overseas, and even if they send it to a family member who then FedExes it to us, it will go through Customs and usually the Dept of Health in the country we might be in at the time. We'd like to avoid all that hassle every 3 months.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Experience?
