depends on the weather. In the summer I try to do it in the morning before it gets too hot and in the winter I do it in the afternoon when it is warmer.

I usually try to do it first thing in the morning. But some times because of scheduling with the boy and such it is more in the afternoon. But very rarely in the evening other than doing dishes, laundry and that type of stuff, or walking to run errands or such. But even those I try to do early as I don't really like driving when it is getting dark or dark. It is harder for me to see then and to recognize where I am and what is around me when it is dark.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:

Do you exercise in the Morning, Afternoon or at Night??

Me I am a morning person and I get my crunches and those types of exercise done in the AM but my walking goes on all day.

I agree with the gas stoves. I have almost every kind to have except the induction. And The gas stove wins hands down for the type of cooking I do!

I have the smooth top and wish that I had gas because it heats better and turns off and not still be hot later. I also don't like that one of the coils for those stoves cost over $150 to replace either.

I currently have a gas stove and love it. I've had electric and ceramic tops in the past and I was a little leery of getting gas but I have never regretted it. Love to use it for canning!

Electric stovetop. It only has two burners and other side is for indoor BBQing. Hate it. Plus it faces the bar, and my one bird jumps down all the time and could severely burn himself. So looking at induction stove tops.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:
What kind of stove are you cooking on? Electric coil, ceramic top, induction, Gas (propane or natural). Is your choice or would you rather have something different?? Curious minds want to know! emoticon

For me , I have a Samsung ceramic top and I don't like it at all. You can't do process canning on it and it isn't a consistent heat. With my new kitchen I will have a propane gas stove top and a double wall oven. emoticon

Thank you all for your participation with the Question of the day!
Well, I am glad to hear that you all know that teflon pans are really bad for your health. And for those of you who still have them just make sure you are cooking on low heat with them. The higher the heat the more the risk. And I want you all to be healthy.

I have stainless. Found out years ago that one pan fire with Teflon could kill my birds, so made the change. Was afraid my elderly mom would accidently burn something. I still can't believe as sensitive as birds are to air fresheners, Teflon, and smokers, that they survived the fire they were trapped behind. Thank you Lord...again.

Growing up and when I took over cooking for my parents we used cast iron pans the most on the stove or stainless steel with copper bottoms. Oven use was a mix of cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, glass/pyrex containers. Microwave was a mix of pyrex and corel/corning ware containers. I don't do a lot of cooking now except Microwave. I didn't take any of my mom's cast iron pans, my sister and brother got them. I still have my own stainless steel with copper bottom set that we use a lot. I still have my pyrex and corel/corning ware and some of my mom's too that we use a lot. The bf had his own stainless steel set and other pieces and keeps buying more pieces that he wants as time goes by. No teflon, we both gave those up long ago when we heard they were not good for you, especially when they get old and scratched up.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:
What are you favorite pans to cook with? Cast iron, ceramic coated, stainless steel, teflon coated pans glass pans (pyrex) etc...

I have gotten away from teflon pans. I now use ceramic pans for frying and stainless steel. I do have some cast iron but they are packed away until I get the kitchen remodeled. As I will be switching to a gas stove. But that is another question. emoticon

We first had wallpaper on the walls and that had to go but had to wait until hubby got tired of it and after he took it off I said that I wanted color on the walls. He did not want color and was sneaky about it and started painting it white and said that he forgot. So I just let it go and after that he started thinking about it and then he wanted color on the walls too. So all our rooms have color in them. All wallpaper is gone. Much easier to keep clean than white,.

I prefer some sort of color on the walls - pretty neutral in general. I think it adds a lot to a room when there's some color involved. My own personal opinion, of course.

I have allergies to paint chemicals while they are wet. It's not so bad in the warm or hot santa anna time as you can open up the house all day and air it out and it drys faster. But when we moved in here yrs ago was in the cold and damp winter time and I was already really sick. We painted the bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen all different colors, and the doors got repainted white. The whole house and carpet when we moved in was white! Too much white, especially with a young boy and a dog, and a big front yard that just turns into a mud pit every time it rains. We didn't get the ofc or hallways, or garage painted as it became apparent that I was just too sick to handle any more chemicals than what we had already painted and the refinishing of the hard wood floor in the living room. I think the floor is what really sent me over the edge! I was on antibiotics and steroids for months and months trying to get better. I was afraid if we did any more painting or other chemical smells in the house that I was going to end up in the hospital.

But I will tell you all the rooms that we painted still look really great, and yet all the white walls had turned brown from the floor up to 4-5 feet because of all the dirty little kids hands, and the dogs jumping up all over them, and all the toys of both being thrown against them. It took me hours this last weekend to get all the white walls and doors looking decent for the inspection for the refi! So that is some thing to keep in mind when thinking about painting.

I was wishing while I was cleaning the white, that we had been able to paint all the rest of the house as I think it would have helped it to stay cleaner and easier to clean. Maybe some hot summer day or days in the future we will be able to paint the rest of the house. Or maybe I will go stay with friends or relatives for a weekend or so while the guys paint the rest of the house some time?

By the way, the boy's room is a blue green he picked out as he liked Sponge Bob and has a border of Sponge Bob. I picked out a light green for the master bedroom. The kitchen/dinning room is a pale yellow and the living room is like a brick reddish brown color. I don't remember any more what the real names of the paint colors were. We have cloth blinds too and they are different colors too as we wanted each to compliment the color of each room.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:
Are you a color on the wall type person or are you a white wall person?

Me I am a color person even if it is a soft neutral color I don't usually like plain white on my walls.

I understand what it means to not have the money to buy groceries or pay the bills. in 2008 I lost my home and had to start all over from the ground up. I didn't quit and I bought my products. I just had to search them out. I didn't settle for the junk because I knew I couldn't afford to get SICK from the junk they put into our foods and health & beauty products. I used baking soda and essential oil of peppermint to brush my teeth when I couldn't afford the stuff in the tubes. It works great and I wasn't getting fluoride poisoning. If there is a will there is a way.
Today I own a home on acreage and making it work. You can too. Don't settle for the unhealthy way of life. Make your life healthy.

I know what is in mine. It has Fluoride in it which I wish it didn't as I know it is trouble. I also don't like that they put a gagging chemical in with Fluoride tooth paste to help stop you from swallowing too much Fluoride. I try to get one with out the whiteners too as they don't agree with me and make the lining of my mouth shed off in strips.

I have bought Tom's brand before with out all those bad chemicals, but it is too expensive for me right now.

I am thinking about switching to just baking soda as it is getting harder and harder to find a cheap affordable tooth paste with out a bunch of chemicals in it. Every time I go to get tooth paste it seems the brand I was using is not being carried any more and they are getting to where they all have the whiteners in them that bother me. I have gagging problems from tooth paste too and I know it is because of the chemical they put in it. I can't keep tooth paste in my mouth very long at all. I get it in there, do a quick brushing, and then get it all out as best as I can and then continue to brush with just a wet tooth brush. Other wise some times I will throw up from it, especially if I am fighting off a chest cold.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:
Do you know what is in your tooth paste? Do you use one with fluoride?

I do know what is in my tooth paste and NO fluoride is in mine. Fluoride is trouble and I don't want any part of it!

Good Morning Team!

Let's try this again! I am going to rephrase this question. A standard kitchen has a refrigerator, stove/oven and most have a dishwasher.

Question of the Day:
What is your favorite kitchen appliance that isn't in a standard kitchen? Example a food processor, kitchen aid mixer, toaster, rice cooker, crock pot, George Foremen grilling machine, hand mixer, etc.......

Mine is a toss up between the refrigerator and the microwave probably. But I could use stove if need be instead of Microwave, So I guess it would be the refrig as I would hate to have to keep buying dry ice to keep it working or to do with out.

Well EJ, it's one that I don't have yet. I'm going to get one today! it's a hand mixer. Mine died a long time ago and I've just been making do with hand mixing. but on cakes and the like, it's really hard and since my neck surgery, that is out. So, I know it will be my favorite when I get it! Giggle!

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:

What is your favorite appliance in your kitchen?

Right now I would have to say it is my bread machine. I can make 2 loaves by hand and have one being done by the machine. Or I can make something before bed and have it done in the morning. What a time saver and waking to the smell of fresh baked surprises. emoticon

Always a stay at home wife and Mom. Homeschooled our children and loved it, as did/do our children.

I try to write changes I make to a recipe as I make the changes so I have a current recipe. I know we all cook/bake differently and love to watch others.

Today DD and I are spending the afternoon with a friend making candy and cookies for Christmas gifts.

Love and Blessings to you all! This is such a fun team!!

EJ, the way you've trialed and error, would make it hard to write!!! I have recipes in my head that are just a matter of what I've learned and changed over the years. Not written any where. There is no way I want to try to write them down either haha. Your ingredients sound wonderful!!!

The daughter that had her child in hospital was in a car wreck last Friday. The whole family were rear ended. A 4 car accident. They are okay. Whip lash, which takes a long while to recoup from, but the little ones are fine. I was worried about Quincy's arm, but it didn't get injured, Thank you GOD. Anyway, when all this STUFF ends, I want to get together. Of course, I can't drive at nite in the rain. And it's always raining haha. But we WILL meet!

Debby, I have a Zojirushi Home Bakery Virtuoso® Breadmaker BB-PAC20
www.zojirushi.com/products/bbpac I have owned many brands and nothing stands up to quality as this one. I use this for 1 loaf. If I need more I do it by hand emoticon

I really don't have a recipe to give it is in my head. I can tell you I use all organic non GMO ingredients, including spelt kernels, flax meal, chia seeds, pumpkins seeds, sunflower seeds, wheat and barley flour.
I studied the bread recipes and discovered they all had general common ingredients. The rest was just trial and error until I got it right. Once you know what the dough texture should be you will have the secret of bread making. I can show anyone how to make bread it is very hard for me to write about it. emoticon

I was working two part time jobs that were seasonal as I was doing taxes. The first job would only hire me for 4-5 months each yr and I was just part time with them, but some times as the tax deal line got closer I would work more full time and even more hrs. The second yr of doing they hooked me us with a business associate of theirs and I started working part time for them both. When that tax season ended and the first job was ready to lay me off again the second job kept me on and gave me more hrs. But then the economy tanked and she had to cut my hrs back more and more and finally had to lay me off too. Since then I have been home taking care of the house, the boyfriend's young son and our dogs. But I will have to go back at least part time some where doing something sooner or later as I have almost ran out of my savings staying home. I was also driving over an hr each way to get to my old job, so it was time for a change any ways. And I used the time off to have a lot of work done to my car that was on it's last leg, and to have a lot of dental work done, and to have a lot of medical stuff checked out that I had been putting off, and I took care of a lot of other stuff that was always pushed to the back burner.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the day:

Are you retired, working, stay at home mom/dad???

I am retired but working harder on the farm than I did in the work field. I bake bread for those who want it. and I sell my eggs. Yesterday I sold 2 loaves of bread and 4 dozen eggs.
I bake the day of delivery so it is fresh!

If I am by myself then I just go to the produce area, and then to the bread and oatmeal area, then to where ever they have their prunes and nuts, then yogurt. And if I need any thing else like toothpaste or such then I get it as I am going past those isles to get the items listed above. If I am with the BF then a lot of the times he will go down each isle looking for what he wants and for sales on other stuff too. I always make a list before going and I pretty much stick to my list.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:

When you go to the grocery store, What department do you go to first, second, etc?

I go to the produce dept. then the natural health dept, then the meat dept then the dairy.
I try to stay away from the center of the store as much as possible.
The center of the store is where you find most of the processed foods,

Yum the molasses give you iron. I add molasses to my recipe. You can take any recipe and take away 1 cup of flour and add another type of flour. I add seeds and nuts and sprouted barley, etc....If you know what bread dough should feel like you can add accordingly. If it feels too dry I add a pinch of coconut milk to add moisture or if it is too wet add your flour until the right texture.

I make my own bread recipes up but they are all in my head as I start to bake.
Taking the time to wash my hands to start writing it all down. I would never get the bread done. LOL

Thanks for all your responses. I love to hear from you all!

I have found one that uses a variety of ingredients, but it isnt gluten free and it is for a bread machine, which I don't have. It come out flat and heavy, but the taste is good. A plus is the molasses in the recipe.

No I don't but I would like to find a good gluten free and corn free one that will work for me and be soft and moist too. Most of the gluten free bread is dry tasting or has corn products in and sorghum in too and I react to that too. So I am still looking for a good bread one for me.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:

How many of you bake your own bread?

I do bake my own bread. This way I can add the ingredients I want in it! And it makes the home smell wonderful! Once you get in the habit it is easy. Oh and a bread machine makes it easier too.

Hello!

I made some lotion bars yesterday, I'm pleased with the result! Waving as I fly by.... Grocery shopping day, and I have a co-op order arriving later.

No - I have been to the chiropractor many times and have had adjustments but I have never taken the time or spent the money to have a massage.

yes and remembered to also drink plenty of water after it too.

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.

Most definitely have had a massage by a pro. It's amazing the conditions they can help you with.

Chiropractor type stuff after a car accident. And two different times I have had to go to PT sessions and had deep tissue massages because of issues from my scoliosis and such with my spine, shoulders, arm and core muscles.

Good Morning Team!

Question of the Day:
Have you ever had a massage by a professional?

My answer is yes. And I think it is most beneficial for me. It really helps with my neurological issues.
