Don't eat processed foods! They are made with too much fat, sugar, or salt. And usually have chemicals in them, to also make you swell from salt.

need to figure out how to do that now that my knee is replaced and I am still trying to do that. Most times I get something that I can roll it onto and then use that to move it.

I had to practice this before I got my job a Safeway after I retired for teaching....I wanted to try another type of job and you went through several different kinds of classes before you were hired....Wonder if they do this now......I just had back x-rays done because of the van that run me down on March 8, 2014....I was told I had a really good back. spinal excellent....you for your age have been doing something right. Come to think of it I was told by other teachers before I lifted any of my Kindergarten child bend your knee and then bring them up.....also did first grade.....I didn't lift them.....but just couldn't help hugging the little ones....when told law says no more it was time to retire. Did teaching for forty years ....Doing the bakery at Safeway was really a good job too got to watch for little ones and give a cookie after quietly asking parent.... emoticon

Use proper posture to lift heavy objects. Place your feet shoulder width apart close to the object. Bend your knees, let your arms hang. Then draw the object to your body, come up to standing by engaging the muscles in your legs, not your back

Thanks for all the tips, was missing them because my sister-in-law will be passing soon and it could be any day now. Went down to see how she was doing and she is in an out of it more out than in. It is so sad because she is the one that would come and fish with my husband before he passed.

I have used rubber bands on the bottom 1 in of the glass. Move one up to the middle when I finished the glass of water and pour the next. I know easily how much I have had to drink. ;-)

I do that very thing when at home EJ. I fill a 2 qt pitcher with Brita water, add 2 T Braggs organic apple cider vinegar & the juice of 1 large lemon. Stir & enjoy. I used to slice the lemon and add to the pitcher, but the lemon pith became to bitter by the end of the day. Love it! At the end of the day I've drank 8 (8 oz) glasses of water!

Magnesium #1
Potassium #2 are the most important for cramps

add Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite which is the best calcium to uptake into the bone. If you are needing the calcium.

I personally like the product called Bone-Up by Jarrow Formulas

And Yes take them at night for best absorption.

Debby for me it is minerals that I need potassium, calcium, magnesium I take them before bed at night and don't have cramps in my legs or feet at night or sore muscles if I have exercised hard during the day.

Calf raises are a simple calf and foot muscle exercise. Stand up straight and hold on to the back of a chair for balance. Lift up on to your tiptoes as high as you can, and hold the position for a second. Lower back down and repeat 8-15 times.

I have heard some people like to give a good scream out just for fun when they are all alone at home, or in their car, or a Tarzan like call out, or in the shower too. But then a lot of people like to sing in the shower. I like to sing when I am alone in the house, shower, or car, myself.

I love to sing!!! My birds love me to sing to them at nite nite time. My husband tried it though, and one of them took her foot and put it to his mouth. He swears she was telling him his voice isn't very good!

Never thought of singing like that. I used to sing in choirs & solo special music at church all the time. But a surgery about 3 years ago damaged my vocal chords and now my voice isn't so good. I could (but usually don't) sing for pleasure though. Thanks for the tip.

I wish I could sing I use to whistle when younger while doing the dishes, cooking dinner, ironing, cleaning house mother had 8 and I was the only one who did it all hey I was kept busy....good way to think of it now....I was the oldest girl never had a sister until my teens....so they were my flowers girls 3 and 5 years old.....I did change them and care for them and brothers. I did get to see Herbie and it was a good movie I think there was two of them......AS far as the whistling was told too stop by my dad when he got home it was hard to do thing then......

well HD said he wants the computer so I have to stop and let him have it hopefully I will get back to it before I have to be at church at 10am until 10pm tonight....going to go clean coffee pots and bake and when I get the baking done and wrapped it will be time to go into another room and be a head of a craft class.....I love to keep busy.......which I am at home too emoticon

If I ever done have anything to do I'll have to go visit someone and see if I can help emoticon have a super day everyone ........

Search Commody movies on the internet. Lots of old Disney Movies were funny. Hot Lead Cold Feet, Trouble with Angels, Herbie the Love Bug series there are lots more. Also search Commedians and movies or TV shows they have made. Lucille Ball I Love Lucy Series and Dick Van Dyke are great ones!

Hope you find some that help bring your BP down and to relax too!!

My best news in a long time!! I am going to be A Grandma in late Nov early Dec!! First Grandbaby to hug and hold!! We are all excited here!!

You don't even have to leave your house, or spend a lot of time on it, just type "Funny cartoons" in to Sparkpeople's search engine and a bunch of links show up. Ask you kids, grand kids to tell you a funny joke and share a laugh or two with them. Have a contest with a friend, or relative, or co-worker to see whom can make the other laugh first. Just start to laugh, it is contagious and will get others around you laughing and in turn make you laugh more. Have fun everyone! And have a great weekend.

Yes, same when trying to get the groceries out of the car and into the house. If you don't want to take a chance of hurting yourself or re-injuring yourself like me, then it is best to take smaller loads and carry them close to your body and make more trips. Especially with heavy can goods or other heavy loads. Light loads like bread and such you can easily get away with carrying pretty much how ever you want.

Good advise. You know how when you get home you grab as many bags as possible to save trips into the house? My Grandpa said "that's a lazy man's way". So, listen to my Grandpa and make more trips. You'll get more steps in, and not hurt your body too!!

I was told if my purse/bag is heavy that it is best to carry it in both arms close to your body or use a back pack, so that the weight is evenly distributed. I try to use shopping cart to carry the weight if really heavy or a lot in the store and to the car. If walking, I will use my back pack.

This is funny for I was just telling my DH I think I am going to grill up a lot of the chicken in the freezer to take with us in May to Utah...

.want to try and see how we do going to Bryce canyon and etc. We are part of the Bryce family from Utah on my father in laws side. His middle name was Bryce. it is still. OH me..... Have to go to another specialist this Thursday to see what he say about my body. Having a Van making you fall in cross walk really does damages to body...and trying to emoticon get my to working again. So when DH said I want to go to Utah in May for a few weeks I got on the positive hat and said ok....

For me, this was another fire tip too. Everything is, since my fire. When you start the charcoal bbq, don't have in on the patio, move into yard. It's not how my fire started, but many fires have started from the lighter fluid being too much and the fire shooting up and BBQing the patio instead of the meat.

Saw that today at my sister-in-laws funeral where she touched allot of lives and it also was a teaching lesson to her daughter where I told her that just because you don't see or hear them doing things that they are not doing it. Debby that is true. When my Dear Dad had to have cataract surgery there was a closed circuit tv in the waiting room and it showed the surgery being done. I "knew" I would recognize my DD's eyes because he had such beautiful blue ones. Guess what! Every person having surgery had blue eyes just like Dad.

At a check up I asked the Dr about that and he said almost all the patients have blue eyes!

Sunglasses are important for us all. I had one ophthalmologist tell me that blue eyed people have extra light retinas and need sunglasses even more to prevent sunlight damage than brown eyed people.
