Hi everyone! I'm Debbie and I was laid off in June of this year due to the lovely budget cutbacks in NJ education. I had been on Spark a couple years ago but have been inactive the past year and think it's time to get my butt in gear and get going again. Since the world of education hasn't been looking up lately, I am now taking classes in Sonography and am learning how to do ultrasounds. Different than anything I've ever done before but I'm loving it!
Life is what you make it.... Be careful of your ingredients....
Hello everyone!! My name is Denise and I was recently laid off from Sallie Mae, Inc - because they are closing their center here in Florida. I am an accountant, in the process of getting my MBA in Accounting and Finance. Lets pick up the pace here and help each other out!!
Hi All, I'm Sandee and I live in Arizona. The job market is really flat here. I have a diverse background that includes Engineering/R&D Technician, Office Manager, Bookkeeper, Executive Administrative Assistant, ISO Administrator and Document Control. With my experience, I'm qualified to work in many different areas. Actually, I'm pretty sure my resume scares employers who don't want to pay much in this economy.
The Almighty will provide regardless of any opposing circumstance!
Hi. I'm from Massachusetts and was laid off on my birthday in September and I have been applying for legal and publishing jobs ever since. I'm writing 2009 off as a crap year and hoping for a better 2010. I can't control much, but I can certainly be a lot healthier. Good luck to everyone. Here's to finding better jobs and getting healthy in 2010.

Welcome to the team Sarah! That's why I like Sparks, because of all the different exercises, I pick the ones that I can do while I sit in front of the TV, and there are lots of them. They aren't aerobic exercises, but they work for strength and toning.
Hi everyone, I'm Sarah. I'm so glad to have found a group like this for us unemployed folks. It's good to find others struggling with the same stuff.
I've been unemployed since the end of May 2009 and a few months ago, moved from Chicago (where I lived for 4 years) back to the Buffalo area to move in with my parents. Oof!
I do Brand Management for Consumer Products, most recently in the toy industry, but I'm looking for something in the Food and Beverage industry.
I do an online job search almost daily and try to network through friends and other contacts, but it's been so difficult. So then I get down about the job search and bum around all day long. I mean, why get out of my sweats if I'm not leaving the house, right?
The past couple of weeks I've been trying to eat better and be more conscious of what I'm eating, but it's the getting motivated to exercise part that's so difficult for me. Anyone have any tips?
Anyway, thanks for starting this group. I'm looking forward to being a member.
Hello all! My name is Holly and I am an unemployed HR professional in Atlanta. I was let go in August after a company wide reduction in force. CHRISSY3294, I've also applied to over 100 jobs and had exactly 5 interviews. Every single day I check multiple job posting websites and pray that something new has been posted that I would qualify for. I understand your feelings about self esteem and confidence. The longer I am unemployed, the lower my confidence gets. I think the people interviewing me can sense this... :(

Welcome to the team Chrissy3294! I know how you feel about self-esteem, I felt like a complete failure after a year of unemployment, then I decided that I couldn't let it continue to eat away at me, and now I look at it as their loss. They don't know what they are missing out on, because I know that I'm a great worker and a great person too!
Hi I live in Connecticut and have been unemployed since July! My department at an insurance company was merged with another. During my job search I have applied to hundreds of jobs and probably went on about 5 interviews....always too qualified or not qualified enough! It is soooooo depressing my self esteem and confidence have gone into the toilet!
Hey I am from Sacramento California. I graduated about a year ago with a degree in Civil Engineering. I have been looking for the whole year in most of Northern California and I had only 1 interview related to my field. I even applied to seasonal holiday work for Macy's and other department stores and I was turned down there too.
I also have quite a few friends that recently graduated in other majors that are unemployed and are living back home with their parents. So I think it's bad for almost all professions here.
