Everything is going good... It has been about a week... Keeping my calorie burn count goal for the day to 2200 is working out well... It is high enough I have to 'work' for it... Not so high I can't reach it on a daily basis... As my activity increases (just had 10" of new snow on top of what hadn't melted) I will up my burn count till I can consistently reach my ultimate goal of 2500 per day... Thank you for everyones support...

I dropped my daily goal down to 2200 till I can be outside on a regular basis... I walked 25 minutes outside today traveling 1.34 miles... It was 20 degrees (Noon)... Winds N at 18 and increasing as I walked... I have my twins bundled in the double stroller... I walked 8200 steps so far today and burned 2250 calories... Thank you everyone for your input... Helps put everything into perspective... Very much appreciated!

I don't mind walking outside... I often go for late night walks in the below zero temps... It is going out with my lil ones (will be 3 yr old twins in July) in the stroller during the day since they aren't in daycare... I am more concerned for their well being and comfort...

I had to go in and look at my highest calories burned day since getting the fitbit. It was 2,768 calories burned- and I had 34,548 steps on that day.
I also had a very high calorie burn day 2 summers ago when I helped my husband re-do our patio area. Hauling wheelbarrels full of heavy sand for hours!

@ LATINRITELADY79:

If you are including your BMR calories then yes 2,500 can be accomplished. In order to burn more you need to move more. You might also consider walking in place indoors when you are unable to get outside.

JUst sitting around burns some calories. So walking will burn the rest. When you are sitting around watching tv try adding some activity by walking in place .

Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible and suddenly you will be doing the impossible -- St Francis of Assisi

I think the closer you get to the 10,000 steps the better your chances for the 2500 calorie burn. You also need to keep active throughout the day.

If you do what you always do, you will get what you always get. To get something different you have to do what you never did.

I'm burning on average 2225-2350 calories per day from walking and daily activity... I walk 5,000 to 7,600 steps... Thank you to everyone who replied... Hopefully once spring arrives, I am looking forward to increasing my steps up to 10,000+ per day... I live in North Dakota... It was snowing (flurries) this afternoon and the temps was in the low 20s with the wind chill in the teens... We are above zero Thank Goodness!!!

@ LATINRITELADY79:

Your goal to burn 2,500 calories a day just walking may be difficult to accomplish. You burn anywhere from 4 to 7 calories per minute walking so it would take 6-10 hours of walking per day to accomplish this goal! A more attainable goal might be 500 calories a day (which would result in a 1 pound per week weight loss as long as you were eating 500 calories less than you burned on a daily basis). This can be accomplished by walking approximately 1-2 hours per day. If you increased up your cardio work to an 80% heart rate you could accomplish this with approximately 45 minutes of work.
You might consider investigating the FOOD PLAN on your FB dashboard and take advantage of the information your FB is capable of providing to you.

I don't know if you can burn 2,500 calories just through walking. I walk a lot, workout and take Zumba classes 4 days a week and have never burned that many calories in a day. Just keep walking as much as you can and maybe try to increase your speed a bit. You might not burn as many calories as you hoped, but keep at it and keeping logging your calories everyday.
Hang in there! emoticon

I have walked probably a million miles since I began, and have NEVER burned that many calories. Certainly the idea of going fast and slow are good, but if you have ever watched Biggest Loser, we KNOW that it takes ALOT MORE to burn off those calories.....Oh to commit to working really HARD.
Hey , maybe alternate days of work yourself silly, and then a slower easier day?! A thought!

Try walking as fast as you can for a minute and then slow for a few and keep doing that over and over again. A lot of times it's about how fast you are getting the steps in.

I am really struggling with this... Seems like I walk and walk and walk and very few calories are being burned... My goal is to burn 2500 calories a day... Any thoughts or suggestions? Since I am so out of shape and still have a quite a bit of weight to lose... Walking is about the extent of my 'exercising'... Thanks!
