for outside rides I use sportstracker, love it and the map of my ride, it turns your phone into a sports computer :) . I also used it more than once to keep from getting lost during an unfamiliar trail ride or hike.

I'm still working on getting recipes up for all the pics. If there's a particular recipe you'd like more info on, I'd love to help!

Thanks for the input! I am looking forward to seeing what it does when I get back to the other trail! I will share when I get there :) I don't recall if it counted steps- I was so focused on everything else that I did not really pay any attention to my fb till after the event was over.

Yes you are. You can either wear it while pedaling OR remove it from your body while you do the activity, then manually add it afterward.

I didn't think the fitbit counted steps when peddling?? I always record my bike ride in the "log activities" Does that mean I am double counting steps? emoticon

Yesterday on my run I got 28 flights of stairs...after looking at my Garmin the incline for the course was 288 ft. I'd say it was right on target.

any incline over 10 feet will pick up like a flight of steps. this is very normal with the fb in a lot of parking lots around up, that happens me everytime I go there

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

Yes, "inclines" was the word I was looking for, lol! When I walk in areas with inclines, even if they are small, it shows up as flights of stairs. So strange! It will be interesting to see what it records when you ride your regular trail!

I was a trail that had some small inclines. I haven't done my normal trail with the fitbit yet. That one is very hilly and muddy :)

When I ride my bike, it is inside, set on a stationery stand, so my pedaling just gets recorded with steps. However, I have noticed that when I walk in certain areas, without stairs, it will say I did a few flights of stairs. It happens when I walk in areas that slope. Were you riding in a hilly area? I suppose it detects changes in altitude as stairs?

Today I learned something new- I was doing some intense cycling for a 5k race. I was leading the race and completed the course multiple times. When I got home my FB records that I had done like 28 flights of steps! Has anyone else had experience with the FB and cycling?

Thanks!
