Happened to me also. I found a few reasons: If I lose power here I have to reset by unplugging the USB and restarting my PC. Then place your fitbit back in the charger device and turn it over and push the little gold dot with a pin or whatever's handy(as long as it reaches the dot : ) Then push the little lever on the fitbit itself and you should either see the charge level or the number it came with like 189 or whatever. Restart your computer and you should be all up to date with numbers. Don't forget to sync it on your fitbit account. Thats another thing to do!!! : ) Hey it keeps your mind off of the bad stuff!! Have a great week!!
Be comforted in this fact: The ache in your heart and the confusion in your soul means you are still aive, still human and STILL open to the beauty of this world~Harding~
I've noticed that the fitbit data is uploaded to the computer every 15 minutes or so. Sheenadee is right to suggest that you force a sync and then go look at your dashboard. It has always worked for me. Good luck!

I am finding that frequently the number of steps I take that are on my Fitbit do not all transfer to my computer dashboard. Are steps being deducted from the overall number because of steps done in activities? I don't think that should happen.
