For cycling, you can clip the FitBit to the hem of your shorts (if you wear shorts) and it will count one step per full revolution of the wheel. I tried it out at home on our recumbent bike. If the FitBit is on your bra or in your pocket, it won't pick up those revolutions.

well, it didn't work to try to send picture of my dead fitbit to them as they said they would replace for me at no charge. So now am thinking of seeing if I can send the stupid fitbit to them if they actually have an address. I did buy one of the fitbit zip and now I am going to put it to good use. I have an elliptical set up downstairs now and looking forward to using it today.

@ OLIVIANIGHT :

Wearing it all day long will allow your FB DASHBOARD to provide you with a more complete picture of the amount of calories you are burning daily. As others have stated your FB is not water-proof so any water activities can be entered manually to your ACTIVITY page. The same is true for bicycling as the FB does not really provide good data when cycling. Some wear their FB in their socks but that might provide an unrealistic amount of VERY ACTIVE minutes. But bottom line, wear it whenever you can.

I also wear mine all day but cannot when doing water walking at health club. Did purchase an elliptical from Sears the other day -when it is set up I will really get in some exercise

I wear it all day and it tracks whatever I am doing. The only time I don't wear it is in the swimming pool.

Is it just for tracking walking and/or running? Should I wear it when I do 30 day shred and jump rope and things like that as well?

Thank you for the information on the fitbit. I guess that solves the mystery.

I assume you are talking about the exercise minutes on your SP Fitness Tracker? SP will only import FAIRLY ACTIVE and VERY ACTIVE minutes. You can obtain those minutes from your FB page by looking at the TIME ACTIVE section. In my case my One will only credit me with FAIRLY ACTIVE minutes if I am burning at least 4 calories per minute. If I burn less that that I will only be credited with LIGHTLY ACTIVE minutes. So, as of this entry, I have already taken over 10,000 steps but only have earned 79 minutes of time that will sync to SP. I guess the lesson learned is that not all steps are "cardio" steps but they are movement and movement is good in any shape or fashion!

Looks like they've missed of a zero or two! No I haven't had that problem, but I do find it difficult to get it to do a resync when I am ready to close down for the night, and it often takes up to an hour before it obliges.

I love my fitbit, and the steps and calorie count are reporting perfectly, but the exercise minutes are simply crazy. One day I checked my steps mid-day and it said 5,860 steps, time spent 1 minute. I know that I'm a fast walker, but this is ridiculous. Has anybody else had that problem? emoticon
My monthly minutes now say less than 700, but I have had no days of less than 10,000 steps, sometimes a lot more. I cannot do 160,000+ steps in less than 700 minutes.
