They do reply within 24 hours and will ask you to send a copy of your receipt if the rice doesn't work.

Good to hear but be forewarned that FB's Customer Service can only be contacted via email, they do not have a Customer Service telephone number. Once again, good luck!

FB advises customers who do this to their FB (and, yes you are not the first person who has ever done this) to "bury" your FB in some white rice for 24 hours. That might fix the issue but if it does not then by all means please get in contact with their Customer Service and tell them your story. They have replaced so many broken/lost FBs with a no-charge replacement and they may do the same for you. As my mom is fond of saying what the worse that can happen? They tell you no. Here is the link for their Customer Service:

I am beside myself-- I killed my fitbit!! I have used it faithfully and just loved it. The other day I had my daughter here -unexpectedly and changed my clothes when we went shopping. Ok when ever I change clothes I take the fitbit [which is always clipped on to pocket] off and put on my desk til attaching to next article of clothes. Well to make long story short -forgot to take it off and it went thru washing machine and dryer last night. I didn't even think of it til few minutes ago when deciding what to wear for bowling this morning and thinking where did it go? I sure hate to tell my hubby about it as I wanted it so bad for Christmas

Thanks Raul. I have already contacted them. I hope they replace it. I just got it in November. I haven't had it near any water. It was on my belt loop and I can tell you that I didn't wet my pants lol :-)

Nina, unfortunately the Ultra is prone to water damage. It probably is still recording your steps and other information but you won't be able to see this information until it syncs. I had two on my Ultras suffer the same issue...a blank screen but both continued to record data on a daily basis. Also, you might consider contacting Customer Service and advise them of the issue. They may offer to replace it at no-charge or at a discount. I would strongly recommend the One as it is advertised as being water-resistant.
BTW, have fun in Vegas!!!

Yes, I have the Ultra. It worked for 36 hours after the rice and bit it again. I had 8,000 steps the last time I looked and we walked back to the hotel from the other end of the strip. When we got back, everyone asked me how many steps we took. It was black and wouldn't come on :(

I give up. Going back to my pedo for the rest of the trip.

If you mean the clip that attaches to your body/clothes. If you did not clip it to you in some way it might not be as accurate with the numbers and might actually then slip away and get lost.

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Seems to be working this morning. Thank you so much. Do you think I can hurt it by not using the clip?

Thank you for all the help. I didn't realize until I started reading the posts that the fitbit was supposed to go in that clip. I have been attaching it directly so maybe I did some damage to it.

if you are will be taking your company or going through your phone, what about packing the fit bit with some rice in a zip lock bag and taking it in your luggage that way you can monitor it and also if customer service answers you, you can tell them what is going on now

also if you are using your pedometer, write down the information and manually input it into your ft bit page.

start with 8 hours and build up depending on how much moisture is in it now. try it and then see if you get that message, if you do leave it a big longer.

I put it in my pocket when I work out. It hasn't been any where near water. I read all the stuff on the site about that. I did read that it is prone to get water in it itself which is really weird. I am going to put it in the box of rice and see what happens. How long do I leave it in there?
I emailed FB and I'll see what they say :)

did you wear it during a workout where you sweated excessively that might do it

Also plsce it in a bowl with some rice to see if there is any mosiuture in it . That could help drawer out the mositure.

And just in case, email customer service at FB. Granted you will be gone when they answer you but you will get an answer

Now it gives the 4.14 message. I did not wash it or have it anywhere near water. I guess back to my pedo for the trip.

i have an ultra and it keeps it charge for a week without any issues. Others have said the same about the zip and one

not sure which model you have but if it is an ultra, once you have it charging, try resetting it through the charging base If yours continues to freeze up, write fb's customer service

My Fitbit will freeze up from time to time and you can't press the button and it doesn't record steps. I put it on the charger and it is fully charged and comes back to life. Anyone else had this happen?

Also, does anyone know how long fitbit holds a charge. I am leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow and returning Friday night. I'm debating about taking the charger with me.

Thanks!
