The forum on FB is searchable. Below is a cut and paste from one thread. Here is how some people deal with the vehicle issue:

"If I spent a significant chunk of time on the road and it added a lot of steps, I go and edit that time period by making an Activity Log for the time period.

There's an Activity for riding in an automobile. When I log that Activity for the time period I was in the car, it backs out the extra steps and calories I didn't earn."

On your FB page, under the ACTIVITY tab, you can enter the following search item:

Automobile or light truck (not a semi) driving

and then just enter your start time and end time and this will remove any activity that you "earned" while driving!
Unfortunately I have not found one for elevators but perhaps this might merit an email to TECH SUPPORT for FB. Hope this helps.

I've found elevators throw it off too. (I have to use the elevator at work.) I haven't figured out a fix yet. I just know on days I do use the elevator to subtract a few stairs.

Yep, I live in the country, and my commute to work counts steps and stairs as well.... It's a bummer, but I haven't found a fix yet. I usually just estimate the artificial steps added from start of commute to finish, and in my mind deduct them from my total step count, since there isn't a way to delete them. Does anyone know how to adjust this with calories burned during this time? I'm afraid it burns more than it should because of the inaccurate steps...

I have Not encountered this...my Fitbit one is keeping accurate count of what I'm doing.
I haven't yet experienced it saying I did stairs when I didn't...but it was for a while not counting stairs I was doing, till someone suggested that I don't stop during till I'm at the top of my stairs. It worked.

Others have said this on the Fitbit page. I also found that my FB counts stairs when I am on an escalator

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

I am finding my fitbit one has been tracking steps and stairs when I'm driving. My work truck is quite bumpy and it seems to think I'm active. Does anyone else have this problem?
