I feel very lucky that my Fitbit hasn't done anything like losing steps. That would be so frustrating, without a doubt.

This happened to me today. I ran about 4K (2.5 miles) and only got 903 steps! I'm pretty upset. I can try the restart thing but I've lost thousands of steps, and now I don't trust the device. I actually restarted it just a few days ago.

That restart info seems like a great post to have on here for reference - would you mind sharing it? Thanks!

I did get a response from customer support (fairly quickly) and basically had to restart it. I kept their e-mail with the instructions for how to do this (for the FitBit One). If anyone wants or needs, let me know and I will share.

I have a similar problem - my FB1 has been working great until yesterday. Then it recorded 13 flights of stairs when I only did 3. Today I have done about 5 flights of the same stairs it recorded correctly before, and it says 0 flights of stairs.

The steps seem to be ok. I have tracked some days with both FB1 and pedometer and it has seemed pretty accurate until this episode.

Glad it is working again. I have the Fitbit one and noticed today it did not count 3 of the flights of stairs I climbed today. Technology can be great when it works. emoticon

Well, I basically re-charged it (even thought I did that on Saturday) and tried re-synching through the app menu on my pc. It now appears to be counting steps. I'm bummed because I've lost a whole day of steps, but at least it's working -- for now.

Thanks for all the input.

This is different than my usage not synching with the FitBit site. It simply isn't counting my steps. Zero, zilch, nada. No steps, no stairs, nothing. It is however calculating the calories I would burn just being up and awake. It's weird and frustrating as it was working last night.

What type of FitBit devices you all have? The ones that are having trouble tracking, where are you wearing your FitBit? That can make a difference. If that isn't the problem, you can manually adjust the distance of your steps. As far as the sleep issue, if your device tracks sleep, you just push and hold the button for 2-3 seconds. It will look like it's a stopwatch. When you wake up, you push and hold for 2-3 seconds again.

If you do what you always do, you will get what you always get. To get something different you have to do what you never did.

I haven't figured out how to get the automatic sleep recording so I just fill in the time I went to bed and the time I get up so I get a general idea. I need to LEARN how to use it and I don't find the way the info is presented is very user-friendly for me.

I am having problems with mine today. I've been using it just less than a week.
I walked down to the church (at least a mile) and my steps were only 500 when I checked it. It is working so I don't know when it was not functioning.
The online support is useless: I typed in "steps not tracking" and it gave me many questions, none of which were applicable.
I came here to see if I could find out anything but haven't tried to contact Fitbit support.
Please let me know what you find out. In the meantime I am walking around my house and checking the Fitbit to see what it says!

The device itself is charged and operating. It's counting basic calories burned, but that's it. I've worn it all day and have gone 0 steps and 0 stairs, which isn't the case.

I've opened a case with Fitbit support, but was wondering if anyone else had had their Fitbit just stop tracking. I've only had it since Christmas.

Thanks.
