I got my Fitbit 1 yesterday. Today I visited my Mum who is in residential care a 30 minute drive away. When I left her my car was parked opposite but I walked around the block before getting in and driving home.
I too work at a desk all day so every little helps

My new FB is definitely making me move more...I love getting the badges. And since I have a desk job and a long commute, I appreciate easily seeing how much of my day was sedentary. I try to make that as little as possible.

I also find myself moving instead of standing still when I am doing stuff around the house or waiting for food to cook. The Fitbit is a great motivator.

This is the first week with my new Fitbit One too and I'm already loving that it's "inspiring" me to be more active. The other day after I let my dogs outside I walked "laps" around my house waiting for them to come in because I wanted to see how many more steps I could get....LOL I see this being a great tool for my weight loss success. I'm also REALLY loving the sleep analysis factor, just because I find that interesting.
Have fun with your Fitbit.

I find myself grabbing trash from other parts of the house instead of waiting for water to boil. those steps add up
Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much
It's a small difference but small changes lead to bigger ones. I was waiting for my water to heat and staring at the microwave counting the seconds when I suddenly became aware I was wearing my FB. Never before have I hightailed it out of the kitchen so fast just to walk around the house.
FB makes me realize times I could be walking instead of standing that I never paid much attention to.
