Don't know why this happened but you can always create an activity by holding down the button to start the timer, let it run for a minute or so, and then when that activity sync with the FB site click on the edit icon and adjust the time as necessary. With regards to the steps badge I would not worry about it you will eventually earn the badge so you just earned it early!

Hope this helps....

I know this post is really old, but I could use some help with this....

I drive a lot for work, I mean a lot! Mine also adds more steps while I'm driving... and stairs too (when I am driving in the mountains/hills/whatever)! I have tried doing the timer for it and sometimes it works, but one day I used the timer 6 times and only 1 record showed up on fitbit, so I couldn't change them to driving... because I didn't know the times. Does anyone know why this would be? I posted the question on the fitbit site and haven't gotten any responses. Oh, and with the stairs, even though you can remove them by logging the activity, it doesn't remove the badges (that you didn't really earn anyway). Just thought I would throw this info in there also!

thanks, everyone, for the feedback.

i checked out the fitbit website and found that it's a known issue that can be dealt with by logging "driving" as an activity. then for the time frame you've entered as drive time, the steps will be removed. and instead it calculates calories expended for driving. cool!

Yes, it does pick up some steps while in the car. I get more steps while I'm on my scooter. But if you look it up you burn more calories while you drive and more if you ride a motorcycle than sitting there. Also take into account you don't wear your fitbit in the shower and maybe not before and after bed time. So I guess it works out in the end. I do believe it's bumps and such.

This it news to me!
I agree with Beth, the little device is recording your body movements inside the car.

I haven't noticed this, but now I will pay attention and report back my findings! Have you checked on the FB forums about this issue?

hi, all. i have noticed lately that my fitbit adds steps while i'm driving. it's not normally a problem because it might be 100-200 steps altogether from my short drives in to work and back. but i did some serious driving out of town over the holiday weekend, and would you believe, my fitbit added about 2,000 steps while i was in the car???

i have tried different things: wearing it in different locations (waist vs. bra, etc.) and also just taking it off and stashing in my purse. still the steps are going up while i'm in the car.

does anybody else experience this with fitbit?
